No Such Luck…or Destiny's Deceit?
Ch 21: It's Time to Let Go
It was another sunny day in Royal Woods, Michigan, the morning sun cast a warm glow over Franklin Avenue as it climbed higher and higher up the sky. The Emily residence was bathed in red and orange hues, making it look amazing and beautiful in the sunrise.
Lincoln found solace in the Emily family, after he first met Henry and Valerie in the hospital. They took him under their care, and helped him heal his past emotional wounds. He also looked up to Olivia for support, even thinking of her as his second mother.
Henry woke up from deep sleep, and he looked at Valerie. She looked beautiful when she was sleeping indeed, he blushed lightly as she saw her roll around, hugging a pillow.
He stood up and took his towel to freshen up early, he got out of the bathroom and put on his clothes to do the cleaning and cooking for his wife.
Valerie woke up at 8:00, and she stretched her arms to get the sleep off of her. She goes to take a bath and changes into her day clothes.
She was surprised to see the living room clean, and the dining table full of food.
Henry smiles at her while watching TV from the living room. Lincoln and Sammy were upstairs playing with their RC cars.
Charlotte met up with Romeo, as promised by her last night.
Valerie sat down on the couch and kissed Henry on the cheek. He blushed lightly as she thanked him.
"Thank you so much for helping me, honey." Valerie smiled.
"It's no problem dear." Henry smiled back. "I'll call Lincoln and Sammy down for breakfast, you wait at the table." He said as his wife went to the table.
He went upstairs to Sammy's room. "Sammy! Lincoln! It's time for breakfast!" He called out.
Lincoln and Sammy went downstairs to eat breakfast, as much as they were feeling hungry. They sat down at the breakfast table and ate away at their food. Henry and Valerie shared some light-hearted banter, while Lincoln and Sammy kept eating.
When they were done, they put their dishes in the sink and Lincoln washed them. He laid back on the couch to rest for a while before fishing for his phone and playing games on it.
Henry chuckled and smiled to himself. And so, the day dragged on to the afternoon. Sammy played rock, paper, and scissors with Lincoln, while Charlotte was in her room reading a book on romance and adventure.
Valerie sat on the couch to watch television with Henry, nothing special was on TV today. Just a rerun of 'Little House on the Prairie.' Henry always liked to watch this show every time he got home from work to get the exhaustion off of him, Valerie had a taste for drama and romance. She had a handful of novels in their bedroom, and she would read them when she got bored.
A few days later…
It was Monday, people absolutely despised this day due to the fact that they would have to get out of bed and go to school. Things common on Mondays are going to work then coming home exhausted, missing the bus (due to the fact that you slept late the night before LOL), and the most common of all, the morning rush.
Lincoln made himself a sandwich for breakfast to beat the morning rush, he ate the sandwich whilst also preparing his things. The Emily family had breakfast on their plates, Lincoln had prepared his things. But, he forgot one thing, his homework. He ran upstairs to retrieve his Mathematics homework, and he saw it on the desk in (technically, his) and Sammy's room.
He gets his homework just as he hears the car horn outside, he quickly rushes downstairs and puts his homework into his bag. Lincoln closes the door and scrambles to get in the car, Henry chuckles at this and says. "We almost left you here, Lincoln. Anyway, let's go to school."
The car then backed up into the road and on the way to work and school.
At school…
Lincoln was greeted by his friends as soon as he got into the school halls. "Hey, Lincoln!" Clyde said, wrapping his arms around his friend's shoulder. "How have you been doing recently?"
"I'm doing fine, thanks Clyde." LIncoln replied to his closest friend. "Besides, did any of you guys see the movie last Saturday?"
"Yes, it was so cool, too bad you didn't get to see it." Cassidy said to Lincoln. "Ace Savvy and One-Eyed Jack had defeated the Wild Card together! The High Card helped them defeat him as well, and the Royal Flush did a great job of flushing down those sharks–"
The bell rang and they immediately ran to their classrooms.
"Ah, snap…" Cassidy muttered to herself.
"It's fine, Cassie." Lincoln said to her. "We can continue at lunch."
"Well, I think it's time for Math. Not going to lie, I hate math as much as I hate pineapple on pizza." Fritz said as they entered the classroom.
"Hey! Pineapple on pizza is a masterpiece, not some sort of garbage!" The 11-year-old girl lashed out at her friend.
"Oh, please-a, you don't-a understand how much of a disgrace it is-a to Italian culture!" He said in his Italian accent.
"Yeah, I agree, I'm not a fan of Hawaiian pizza so…" Lincoln said as he sat down. "...yeah, Fritz is right, the pineapple doesn't belong on the pizza."
"Alright, alright!" Mr. Hillard said as he entered the classroom. "Everybody quiet down, please take your seats!"
And so, the discussion began as soon as everybody was seated properly. They discussed the properties of a pyramid and how to solve for its volume. "And so… the formula for the volume is the area of the base multiplied by the height, and then divided by 3." He said as he jotted down the formula on the chalkboard.
Fritz tried to stay awake, and Lincoln was downright bored. Mr. Hillard then presents a few examples of him using the formula to solve for the area of the pyramid.
Lunch time…
Lincoln and his friends were seated together on a table. They ate their lunch while sharing stories and all, including Fritz doing a mix-up of his food much to Cassidy disliking it.
"I thought you said you didn't like pineapple on pizza…" Cassidy said, shuddering as she ate her food.
"I do hate pineapple on pizza, but I like mix-ups of my food." Fritz said to her.
Later, they went back to class after the bell rang. It was already time for Social Studies and of course, History. History was the students' waterloo in Lincoln's class, due to how much they hated vintage generations and everything.
Later, when they got home…
Lincoln sat on the porch of the Emily residence, the door was open, letting the light inside comfort him while gazing at the night sky. He saw different constellations in the sky, and one was the constellation he and his family would see when they were star-gazing. It was the Ursa Minor, known as the Little Bear.
The Ursa Minor was the constellation the Loud family would always gaze at, since it was Lynn Sr.'s favorite constellation when he was a young little boy.
Henry walked up to Lincoln and knelt down to his height. "What are you doing here, Lincoln?"
"Just gazing at the night sky." Lincoln said as he pointed towards the Ursa Minor constellation. "The Ursa Minor's always the one me and my family would always look at on nights like these, ah, sweet memories…"
Henry sat down as well and scooted closer to Lincoln, looking at the night sky. Charlotte and Sammy came into the scene, they looked as Henry and Lincoln gazed at the night sky. Sammy sat down, and so did Charlotte.
"What's that, Daddy?" Sammy asked his father.
Henry put Sammy on his lap, and said. "That's the Ursa Minor, Sammy. It is known as the Little Bear, and Lincoln would always go outside to look at this constellation with his family."
So, the five of them sat down and looked at the night sky. Sammy pointed at various objects, including the moon. Lincoln and Charlotte would often share stories, and Henry looked on with a smile on his face.
To be continued in Ch 22…
A/N: Sorry if I took too long writing this chapter, my ass was so lazy due to so many assignments. Also, for all the Flumpty lovers out there, I have made a movie adapted from the Lincoln's Night at Flumpty's series, but with a twist.
Lincoln died in that story, and also, the timeline is set from August 1981 to March 1994. If you want, I can write it down and publish it on Quotev (since FFN only publishes stories).
Anyway, peace out and I'll see 'ya next time.
