Chirtmas time 2024

Christmas music was playing happily through the kitchen as Laura Lee Urkel and her daughter, twelve year old Stephanie Harriette, were singing along while decorting Christmas cookies. "All I want for Christmas is you!" was being sang off key, with silly dance moves while laugter filled the air. Laura couldn't help but smile at her daughter who in her eyes was a bright and beautiful girl. She had her dad's big brown eyes and poor eyesight. But that was all Steve contributed when it came to Stehanie's DNA. The rest well, was a mini Laura.

Before Laura knew it though, Stephanie gave her a mischievous look and took frosting smeared it on her mom's face. "Oh really little girl? So we are gonna play dirty now?" Laura asked giving her youngest child a stern look while wiping the frosting up. "Yep!" Stephanie answered with a grin.

"Come here!" Laura grinned back as Stephanie burst into giggles as she began to run and quickly her mother chasing her through the downstairs of their home on the outskirts of Chicago.

Meanwhile...

Steve ran into the airport as he was not trying to trip and weaving through the big crowd of people. "Oh gosh, excuse me..." he kept repeating as he would get stuck behind some people or get pushed backwards. "Good golly, finally!" He said out loud to himself, "Some people." Steve finally found a spot where his oldest born would becoming through at the airport. Steve fixed himself up and pulled out his sign. "Willkommen zu Hause Lawrence Carl!" which just translated into "Welcome Home."

Steve kept looking through the crowd hoping to see his son soon coming down the escalator from his flight. Steve was beyond excited to see his son. It had been hard on him, Laura, and their daughter. It was Lawrence's, who was 21, was in his third year at CalTech, out in Pasadena, California. He was coming home for a few weeks for his winter break.

He grinned bigger and began to bounce with excitement once he saw Lawrence's face. As for Lawrence he was trying his quickest to get down the escalator and tripped a few times, thankfully people caught him before he fell. "Papa!" He ran hugged his father.

"Oof, Sonnn!" Steve squeezed out as Lawrance picked him up and gave him the biggest bear hug.

"Sorry dad, its been way too long..." Lawrence smiled putting his dad down and straighting out his clothes.

"It's fine my boy..." Steve he replied with another oof as his son. Steve could not stop looking at his son, as something was different about him. Of course he looked the same as since he had been always a few inches taller than him for the last couple years. His cornrows were braided back and he had his mother smile. Lawrence had Steve's big eyes, but the rest of his son was good mix between him and Laura. The one thing Lawerence did inherit was Steve's was he was just as accident prone and very clumsy. But other that he had a love for science as much as Steve did and was studying to become an aerospace engineer. Laura was not crazy about his choice of career, but his mind had been set and his dream college since he was five. So Laura and Steve made sure that it would happen. "Lets get you home, because you know your mother is going to want the real answer why you didn't fly home for Thanksgiving..." Steve sighed as he said to his son as he patted Lawrence on back.

"I figured she would let it go at the time. But dad what of I told you it was not for extra credit but a girl?" Lawrence told Steve as they were headed out of the airport and towards Steve's newest and improved version of the Isetta, a BMW i3. Once they crammed Lawrence luggauge in and got into the small vehicle, Steve looked at his with a look of concern. "If that is true, mother is going to be upset you lied to her. So now Stephanie and now have to go hide while eveything goes down... Now tell me about this girl, the Urkel charm works like a charm once you become pretty persistent. Worked on your mother, took fifteen years, but it worked. Here we are 26 years later."

Back at the Urkel household

Laura and Stephanie were both sitting in their pajamas and bathrobes. Laura already had her bonnet on as she already had her hair done for the night. They ended up with frosting on their clothes, hands, faces, and hair. They both ended up laughing as they attacked each other with frosting. Now Laura was sitting on the sofa in their living room, while Stephanie sat in front of her on the floor. Laura was doing Stephanie's nightly hair routine of combining her daughter long, tight curly black hair as they were enjoying A Madea Christmas. As soon as Laura put Stephanie's bonnet on they heard two car doors shut. Stephanie sprung up, "Larwence is home!" Laura smiled as she watched her daughter jump up and down with pure joy. Her and Steve felt blessed that their children got along. Stephanie adored her brother but also knew how to get under each other skin by always teasing each other or pulling harmless pranks. Many times it reminded Laura of her relationship she had with own big brother, Eddie. But there was something more between the Urkel siblings as they had a nine year age gap.

Laura got up after she turned off the television as the front door opened. Stephanie ran and hug her brother, almost knocking him over. "She didn't miss him at all..." Laura said with a sarcastic tone, and met Steve half way giving each other a small peck the lips. "Ha!" Steve slightly laughed with his signature snort. "Oh you, that girl is going to follow him for the next four days like anlost little puppy."

"Don't remind me." Lawrence piped out with a slight weeze as Stephanie squeezed him into a tighter hug.

"Okay, come on baby girl, your brother had a long flight, so why don't you and I go up to the movie room and watch your favorite Christmas movie." Steve suggested as he tried prying off Stephanie.

"No!!!" She screamed as Steve struggled as he made frustrating faces and odd noises coming from him. Lawrence even was trying to make her let go of him.

Laura rolled her eyes while shaking her head slightly, walked over to her family and kneeled down at her daughter who had a death grip on her brother's legs. "Baby girl, I know you miss him but he has some explaining his real reason why he decided to ditch his family on Thanksgiving..."

Stephanie let go, stood up and pointed a finger as she began to laugh, "Ha! You're in so much trouble..." Lawrence gave her an evil stare and then watched hos baby sister dash up the stairs as Steve followed. But to only give his son one last look of "I told you so."

"Sit.." Laura said sternly as she was back now sitting on the sofa and pointing to a spot in front of her on the floor.

"Yes Momma." Was Lawrence response as he sighed knowing his mom knew he lied about his reason on missing Thanksgiving. He sat down and Laura began to rub hair oil in his hair. Lawrence almost forgot his mom was upset with him as he felt her fingers massage hos scalp until she spoke.

"Now Boy, I know you are a grown adult. But you are still my child. You don't need to lie to me. Trust me, I tired to get away with lies when I was in my early twenties too. It's all confusing when you are trying to find yourself. So what's her name?" Laura smirked at the memories of her college days as both her and Steve were trying to better themselves around their son age. But also be straight forward because the Urkel side of the family love being in love.

"How'd did you know?" Lawrence asked in surprise turning up to look at his mom.

"Lawerence Carl, First of all I am your mother, I could tell in your by your voice was shaky and you did not even look at me or your dad in the video chat I knew you were lying. But also I noticed there was something different, you sounded happy. Ever since you broke it off with Zuri for her cheating, you always seemed sad. Also I saw some girl walk quickly behind you while we video chatted." Laura gave her son a wink and kiss on his cheek, then put a bonnet over his hair.

Lawrence then moved next to his mom on the couch. Laura knew that look. It was the same look Steve would give her everytime he laid eyes on her. Smitten, love, and adoration. "Brooklynne." he sighed with a smile and the laid his head on his mom's shoulder. He then went into detail how they met and how she made him feel just being near her. Even showed pictures of them on his phone. Laura could see right there he was his father's son.

A little while later...

"Steve, I'm glad he has found someone and I don't care if she's even a white girl... I'm just still a little hurt he had to lie to us about it. They ended up celebrating Thanksgiving at a Chinese Buffet and slept in a hotel that whole time because when Brooklynne brought him to meet her parents and brothers they kicked him out because our son is black. The brave thing she did is that she followed him. I just wish he could have told us and brought her here for Thanksgiving and we would have welcomed her with open arms." Laura said as Steve laid in bed reading the latest science journal on his IPad, while she sat her vanity, rubbing lotion onto her arms.

Steve put his ipad down on his nightstand, got up and walked up behind his wife. Laura looked up in the mirror only to smile seeing her husband's reflection. He bent down and wrapped his arms around hisnwife and gave her the biggest hug. Laura leaned her head on his arm and intertwined her arms with his. Steve kissed the top of Laura's head. "Not all families are not like ours. We learned from the best parents ever. Despite all the crazy things I did, Big Guy and your mom always wlecomed me with open arms. I am always grateful for your parents and gratful for you because eventually you did ended up falling in love with me after many times you told me it was never gonna happen."

Steve felt Laura chuckle and smack his arm. "I'm so glad realized I couldn't imagine my life without you... and still can't Dr. Urkel" Laura watched her husband's reflection in the mirror and couldn't help but see hunger in his eyes. She shivered just feeling loved and her husband still felt her desirable as she closed her eyes as Steve began to kiss her neck. She felt that all too familiar feeling and it always made excited. "Hey Alexa, play Strangers in the Night." Steve requested and pulled his wife up and the pulled each other close as the swayed to all sweet song that Steve played for Laura over thirty-four years ago.

Lawrence was walking down the hallway, because he just got off the phone with his very upset girlfriend. He was going to ask them if she could spend Christmas with them because her family was making her feel miserable. As he was about to knock on their door, he shook in disgust. Hearing "Oh Steve!" made him turn the other direction quickly. Maybe he would just ask early the next morning as he could not believe at his parents being forty-eight they would still be doing that.
