Cody's day started with a bang. Well, it was more of a thud. His eyes jerked open to find himself on the floor of the boy's cabin. Judging by the dull pain in his right shoulder, he'd fallen out of bed. He pushed himself up with his palms, holding himself up with the side of his bed. A groan escaped his mouth before he quickly slapped his hand over his mouth. No light shined in through the windows, meaning that it was likely very early in the morning. Cody, not wanting to wake his teammates, carefully sat on his bed. He didn't feel tired, oddly enough, but he knew that if he stayed up, the next challenge would be hell.
Before he got back under the sheets; however, he looked around. A strange sight awaited him. Although difficult to see in the darkness, he noticed that the bunks around him were noticeably empty. Scrunching his brow, Cody stood up and took a second look. Indeed, he was the only one in the cabin. He ran his hands through his hair before he took a look outside the window. Darkness.
Cody bit his lip. Something was wrong. Ezekiel, the farmer that he was, had been waking up earlier than anyone else, so Cody could assume that him being gone before sunrise was typical. But Trent? Justin? Owen? There's no way a normal teenage boy would give up a chance to sleep in.
Taking a step outside the cabin, he was met with the serenity of night. The wind brought a low whisper alongside it, the trees shaking behind him. Wawanakwa was a hard place to like, given what normally took place there. But to a normal person, the night hid the horrors of day and brought with it peace. Not to Cody.
He was a twenty-four-year-old man. Yes, he may be currently hiding in a sixteen year old's body, but he was a grown adult nonetheless. Still, his extra eight years did nothing to calm his nerves as he walked down the steps of the cabin. His teammates were missing in the middle of the night.
Trying to calm his nerves, he began walking to the bathroom, hoping to splash his face with some water to clear his mind. Afraid of the dark? No, he was just jumpy. That's why he walked as fast as he could to the bathroom. That's why his breath shortened with each step. That's why he came to a stop when he saw the murky figure standing at the edge of the trees. Wait, what?
Cody's lungs stopped when he saw the… thing hiding behind the trees. It looked human enough, but what worried Cody was that it wasn't moving. His plans to head to the bathroom were aborted, that was for sure. Cody took a step back and the thing didn't move. Another, and it remained still. His eyes remained locked on the shadow as he crept back to his cabin. Sweat dripped down his forehead and Cody blinked it away from his eyes. His eyes opened after a split-second and it was gone. Cody's breath halted with a squeak and he turned to run, only to be met with a man.
Cody fell to the ground, staring up at the man. He was dark-skinned, probably Latino. Long hair fell to the end of his neck, with a small goatee sitting at the edge of his chin. He sported a dark red shirt, opened at the top to reveal both a white shirt underneath as well as his abs. A necklace with a bull's skull on it hung from his neck. Cody could tell immediately who it was, even in the darkness. Alejandro.
"Hello, amigo", he said, an evil grin on his face. Cody's face dropped as he turned to run, only for Alejandro to grab his wrist. "Let's not be hasty."
"What do you want?" the nerd growled, desperately trying to yank his hand away. After what Alejandro had done to him in the finale, a strange mixture of hate and fear remained in Cody all these years later. The Latin rolled his eyes and pulled Cody away. In the blink of an eye, Cody found himself on the iconic cliff that rose to one thousand feet. Looking around, the two were no longer alone. Standing along the edge of the cliff were Leshawna, Harold, Owen, Bridgette, Tyler, and Noah. It was an odd group of people, Cody thought, but he had more pressing matters to deal with. Had he just teleported? However, as Cody was pondering to himself about his situation, Alejandro swiftly shoved Harold off of the cliff. A moment of shock poured over Cody before he could fully react.
"...Huh? Before he could even finish his sentence, Alejandro walked over and pushed Bridgette off as well. Anger filled Cody's blood as he attempted to run forward. Except, nothing came out. Despite all of his efforts, he remained stationary. As Cody tried to force his legs forward, Leshawna, Tyler, and Owen were all shoved off of the edge. Though he may not have been able to move, Cody was able to crumple to his knees. He didn't know what was happening, or what to think.
"Alejandro's on the island? Did he go back in time? Why is he pushing these people off? Why these people in particular? Are they okay?"
Cody was lost in his thoughts, though not for long. Alejandro had now picked Noah up by his collar, who was unsuccessfully fighting to be free of his grasp.
"You…" Alejandro growled. "You were the only one who saw through my ruse. All the others fell for it hook, line, and sinker. But you just had to see through me, didn't you? Say goodbye." He jerked his hand to the right, leaving Noah dangling above the edge.
"No!"
Suddenly, a burst of energy flew through the time-traveler, and he could feel his movement coming back to him. Cody took off into a full sprint, rushing at the pair at the end of the cliff. Finally, Cody could feel himself being helpful. He wasn't just going to stand by and let harm fall on others. He'd put a stop to Alejandro. He lunged at the Latin, the wind flying all around him. It was only when Alejandro took one step to the side that Cody realized he had made a huge mistake. His hand grasped at the air, his legs flying off the edge. Suddenly, the wind rushed around him as he began plummeting towards the ground. Was he anywhere near the safety ring? Was he even halfway down? Suddenly, Cody found himself back in bed.
Cody's heart was hammering, sweat, dripping down his face. He gasped for breath, his hands shaking. He felt for his face, ensuring that he was real. Not that it mattered. That dream felt real anyway. He felt weak, like he had just run a marathon. Trent, the only one still in the cabin, had been woken up by the noise.
"Dude, what the hell was that?" he grumbled.
"S-sorry, man. Bad dream," Cody said, panting heavily. After grumbling a bit more, Trent turned over and fell back asleep. Cody reached into his duffel bag and grabbed a fresh t-shirt. He pulled it over his head as he took a step outside. He didn't know what to do with himself after that whole mess. He only knew one thing.
"I don't know how, but I've got to stop Alejandro."
A/N: Our first dream chapter. These dream chapters are usually just set up for a new goal for Cody. This time it's to stop Alejandro. Granted, there's not much to do about him in Island, but still. I also wanted to paint Al in a darker light, since to Cody, their last interaction ended with Al almost getting him killed. He should hate him.
