Wyndon
Fuse
I'm never trusting the Pokemon world ever again.
Standing on the roof of the highest building in Wyndon, I look over the daytime atmosphere of the city with a barely disguised disgust.
This entire place felt like London. Probably because it was made to be literally London.
I've had to be in this world for the past month, grinding out experience for my Pokemon.
Sure, I could've just not done that. But then I would lose the upcoming battle. I would rather not lose that final battle. Especially when I'm going to just jump her after her fight with Leon.
Still, I think the tournament is starting in a few days. I'm already in Wyndon, so I'm going to have to find some touristy things to do while here…
It's still bright out, maybe I'll find something to disguise myself with so I can walk around without attracting attention.
I am a criminal in this country, after all.
Jumping down the tall building with no fear as my wings from Terraria negated all fall damage, I figured out what I wanted to do today.
I haven't been back to Teyvat in a while since I was busy grinding here. I think it would be cool to have everyone here for a vacation. Plus, I can probably convince them to stay and watch the final Pokemon battle with Lily and I. Though, it would probably be hard to get tickets…
…Or, to seat them at all without arousing suspicion.
Ah well, I can probably handle it.
Gently landing, I decided that I'm going to get some disguises so that we could all go without being interrupted. Since the last time we did that, our faces have all been plastered over the internet.
So, something to cover our faces, that should be easy to do. Though, I would need to find a clothes store first. Should be easy, considering this is the capital of Galar.
Taking out Vermont, my Rotom Phone, intending to look up where to get clothing…
I stopped as I found notifications from Dori.
Dori: Hey Fuse, with the help of Romeo & Angeles, I managed to throw myself into the Terraria world to increase my mana through falling stars. It's a very wonderful sight, by the way. Why didn't you bring me?
Dori: I'm going to be around here now, I think this city is named Wyndon. They seem to value Mora a lot so I exchanged it for a lot of money. Don't worry, I asked around and it seems like they were giving me a fair exchange rate.
Dori: I didn't have any of their papers they wanted before I could start a legitimate business though. So I'm just going to set up somewhere shady after buying everything I want from here to take back to Teyvat. I wish you were on your Rotom Phone though, since I don't have an inventory yet.
Dori: I can only open a portal once every 15 minutes. I want to buy more architecture but I physically cannot carry it with me.
Dori: I found a company that rents out Pokemon to carry my stuff. Issue solved.
Dori: I looked up your name and you seem to be on the news a lot. You should probably stop being so reckless. That could lose potential business partners if they found out I was connected to you.
Dori: Actually I found some of your fans who recognized me. As it turns out, you have a huge following and now I can use them to help me start a legitimate business from behind the scenes. Keep doing as you do, Fuse.
Reaching the end of Dori's messages to me, I instantly remembered why people have a phone addiction. Or, the kind of valid part of people's phone addictions.
Yeah, I probably should've pulled out my phone a few times during my grinding process. Instead, Vermont was just chilling inside of my inventory with no way to tell me I was getting texts from Dori from a week ago.
I should probably just text her now, just to cover my bases.
Fuse: Sorry, was busy.
Fuse: Tournament is coming up, my grinding is basically done and everyone has evolved.
Fuse: No clue where you are though.
Fuse: Gonna come back to Teyvat for a while so we can all hang out in Wyndon so you guys can watch me win.
Alright, with that covered, I'm going to go steal some clothing. Though, since I did rob a lot of people, I guess it would be polite to pay for the clothes…
Before I could put Vermont away, I suddenly got a notification from Dori.
Dori: I'm in Wyndon right now. Did you want to meet at Alcazarzaray?
Fuse: I was gonna get disguises first.
Dori: Already have disguises for Nahida, Angeles, and I. They were helping me with some stuff on this side.
Fuse: Oh.
Fuse: Now I sound stupid.
Dori: It's fine. By the way, where can I find a Hoopa?
What?
How do I even answer that one?
I don't even fully remember that mythical Pokemon. It was the genie one, right? But Dori already has her own genie…
…Actually, Hoopa can travel through worlds or something, right? I guess it makes sense that Dori wants one. Or, it. I have no idea if there are more than one.
Either way, I'm just going to answer honestly.
Fuse: Literally no idea.
Dori: Okay. That's fine, I can find it later. But yes, we can watch your battle whenever it's happening. I recall that the tournament starts in 2 days from now?
Fuse: Yeah. I think I'm going to go snipe the plot a bit and defeat someone as soon as he turns evil though.
Dori: What?
Fuse: Don't worry about it. I'm just poaching experience from Lily.
Dori: Sometimes I forget that you're genuinely fighting a ten year old.
Fuse: Nine.
Dori: That just makes it worse.
Fuse: Send me your location, by the way. I can grab everyone to hang out.
Dori: I don't know how to do that.
Fuse: This is what the Rotom is for.
I chuckled as Dori stopped responding for a moment to send me her location. She wasn't far from here, and I could easily just fly over.
Looking up from my phone, I found a small crowd had gathered nearby to gawk at me. I guess I shouldn't have gotten into a conversation on my phone in broad daylight. Oh well, I still outscale every human in this verse though.
A policeman with an Arcanine stood in front of me, not saying anything with a determined expression on his face.
I tilted my head to ask, "So, do you wanna say anything?"
"Is there anything I could do to make you turn yourself in?" The officer countered calmly.
To be fair, there wasn't. I guess all he's doing is stalling for time and hope I just leave without beating the hell out of more people.
Either way, respectable for a British expy.
"Nah," I agreed, pulling out a Pokeball, causing everyone nearby to be nervous, "I'm going to just beat up your Arcanine as a warmup, and I'll be on my way."
I haven't used California in a decent bit. I think he's itching to eat…
Arriving towards Dori's location, I spotted the pink hair shorty talking with Angeles through the window of a building. Their disguises were… Well, they were disguises.
…I think, anyway.
I was watching from the opposite side of the street in an alleyway, since I had to lose everyone following me. My disguise kind of sucked, since I'm apparently fairly recognizable no matter what I wear. That shouldn't be possible, but I guess Americans are easily spottable in all universes.
Plus, all my rolls this month were garbage. How is it possible to roll all common items that do literally nothing aside from being decorative wall pieces all month? Some garbage luck right there.
Deciding that I could just walk across the street and not get caught, I quickly do so, ignoring everyone in the hopes of not gaining any attention.
Then, I opened the door.
Every head inside whipped to me, but they were all people I recognized.
This was apparently a hotel or apartment or something as there were two beds in the room, one of them being claimed by Nahida.
She was the one who spoke first, "Oh! Fuse! It's nice to see you again. This phone technology really is fascinating, being able to do everything the Akasha did, and more."
"Yeah, that's the internet for you," I said, closing the door behind me, "So, how's it going?"
Dori showed off her Rotom Phone to me, opening her bank account.
…It had a lot of money in it.
Humbly bragging, Dori responded, "Oh, it's been good. Your following has been really helpful in setting up everything here. I've been trying to figure out how the internet could be taken to Teyvat so I could profit off of the phones. But apparently, they shoot stuff into space. Isn't that insane?"
Mm, that wasn't insane to me because I'm from Earth, who already did that. But yeah, I guess that would be insane to someone from a world where… Well, I don't quite know what technology is in that world. All I knew was that Sumeru was kind of behind the other nations. Barely.
But I agreed anyway because it's an objectively impressive feat, "Yeah. It really is."
Which is when Angeles took her legally required time to speak, "By the way, Romeo has wandered off to try and buy real estate in this city."
Ah, Romeo is here too? That guy really did just show up one day and declared himself part of the main group. Ah well. He and Dori probably just hit it off as fellow merchants. No doubt scheming on what was the best way to use Galarian currency in this world so Mora could flow in the other.
Hm, you could get Galarian Pounds for Mora, but can't get Mora for Galarian Pounds. I wonder how they're getting past that one.
Ah well, I trust in their intelligence to figure out what being rich meant to them. Whether it's physical goods, fake money, or power.
I just shrugged in response to Angeles, "I'm not that inclined into the whole market thing. I'll just trust that you guys know what you're doing with that."
Angeles nodded, "I see. Speaking of, your day of battle against Lily is soon approaching, yes?"
"Yeah, what about it?" I asked, sitting down in a chair nearby.
Angeles hummed, "It is a bit of a selfish request, but perhaps we can bring along all of those who stay at Alcazarzaray to the battle?"
Ah, that's certainly an idea. Probably not a bad one, I feel fairly confident in my victory over Lily…
But if I lose…
Actually, would I lose? Absolutely not. Not against a nine year old.
"Sure thing," I agreed to her request, voice full of confidence, "I think we can set up a TV. The tickets are probably all out though, so you can't experience whatever culture this place has."
Dori proudly put her hands on her hips as she answered, "Don't even worry about that. I bought enough seats for everyone for the final day, since I knew you were going to say yes."
Wow, the audacity.
I sighed, "Making plans without me. Tut, tut."
"You were the one who didn't answer your phone for a week," Nahida pointed out.
"Shaddap," I said, defensive.
There was a very good reason I didn't check my phone for that entire month. Trust me. Very good reasons.
Dori chuckled, knowing full well that they weren't good reasons, "So, anyhow, you wanted to hang around us for the last few days until the tournament kicks off, right? I've been wanting to explore this city a bit more too."
I nodded, "You guys know where you want to check out, then?"
Wordlessly, Dori, Nahida, and Angeles synchronized getting up and putting on the finishing touches to whatever they were wearing.
"That was cool."
"Thank you, Fuse."
I'll probably just patiently wait in Hammerlocke so I can jump Rose as soon as he summons Eternatus.
Until then, though, I'll just hang out with the rest of the gang.
AN:
Hey guys, guess what.
This chapter is being written at 3 AM on a Saturday, 3 hours after I should've been posting it.
I love you guys.
…Pretty sure I can finish this arc in 2 or 3 chapters, as long as I, you know, WRITE THESE CHAPTERS A DAY BEFOREHAND.
Speaking of which, I started a Discord server, mostly as a vanity project but it's there now.
ZPrVHumQJv is the invite code.
Come remind me to actually write the chapter on time next time lmao. Or to talk about what happens after Manifest Destiny ends, if you're still wishing for another PvP fic like I've been recently.
