Fuse

Landing on both my feet, I take a look around at where I ended up.

It looks like I'm in a city, so that's a big boost from the middle of nowhere like I previously was. But also…

This is a European city. The architecture oozes arrogance.

I have no memory of the story of this anime, but I vaguely remember that there's a war going on. What kind of war? I have no clue.

Walking around a bit, trying to get a grip on what's going on, I stumble upon a patrol of German looking soldiers.

Quite frankly, if I'm in Nazi Germany, I'm going to bomb everyone here. I fucking hate Nazis, they ruined America.

If it's Germany from World War 1, then I might just ignore it.

So, I walk up to the patrol of 2 German-looking soldiers.

I immediately got a response from them, as the taller man questioned, "Who are you? You don't look to be from around here. What's with your mask?"

"My name is Fuse, and yeah, I'm from America," I answered, not seeing any reason to lie.

"What? You're from America?" The shorter soldier asked, forgetting to ask for any proof of identity, "You have to get out of this city, it's about to turn into a war zone!"

Well, at the very least, America still exists in this world. That's comforting to know.

I wave him off, "It's fine, but I have a few questions I would like to ask, if you don't mind."

They look at each other oddly and agree, depending on the questions.

So, I asked, "What city am I in? What day is it, year and all? And what nation am I in?"

They look at him weirdly. Obviously I asked pretty self-explanatory questions. I look like a guy with amnesia.

Pulling out a few Mora, basically gold in their eyes, I kindly asked them, "Please?"

Considering that gold was still worth a lot, they immediately became much more recipient to my questions.

So, I found out I'm in the city of Brugo in the Empire of Germania, mostly just called The Empire, and it's December 1st, 1925.

So, yeah, I'm basically in Germany. I dunno how big this Germany is, or why they're still at war despite World War 1 ending in 1918. But maybe it's something fictional since I think the series takes after World War 2 more.

After that, I ask for what nation Germania is at war with, and the name of the continent we're on. Plus whatever other nations we're surrounded by.

So, the Empire has been at war for a few months. War with Francois, the Commonwealth, Legadonia, and Dacia. I'll be honest, I only recognize Francois as France. I have no idea where those other names come from.

Plus, the Empire is surrounded by Waldstatte, Russy, Illoda, but they're all neutral so far. Again, Russy is obviously Russia, maybe Illoda is Italy but I'm not sure about them.

So, it's definitely the early months of a world war. Just what world war, though?

Well, if I find a concentration camp, I'm going to make it my business. For now, though, I should just focus on figuring out where Colette is.

So, I ask for the name of a couple of notable war heroes or something like that.

The first name I recognize is Tanya Degurechaff, who I believe in the main character, since the world menu calls it "Saga of Tanya the Evil."

Definitely a Nazi. Her location is unknown to these guys, so I'll handle her later.

The next few names I have no recognition of, but then I hear someone's name I do know.

Apparently, they call her the "Unyielding Rose, Colette."

Definitely European arrogance.

"So, where's Colette?" I asked, knowing full well I'm going to have a difficult time not fighting her. French arrogance is on another level. As an American, I just can't stand it.

The taller man shrugs, "How should we know? For all we know, she might even be coming here!"

Ah, that's fair.

I should probably find her before she punches through the frontline, though. As far as I know, everyone who has a domino also has a gamer system similar to mine. That makes her likely able to fistfight god within the year.

So, if I get to her before that point, I might be able to convince her that I can help her curbstomp Germany.

After all, who doesn't want to curbstomp Germany?

Ah, but most importantly, "What side is America on, again?"

The shorter one answers, "The Unified States? Well, they're neutral right now… I can't imagine they'll fight for us, though."

…Unified States?

That's a pretty silly name, imagine calling yourselves Unified, rather than United.

Still, they're Americans. So I'll consider them my cousins.

So, I'll see if I can avoid inconveniencing them during my time here. After all, if this went anything like the real world, it's about time for America to shine on the world stage.

I paid them as I turned around to leave, "Thanks, I'll be taking my leave now."

As I walked towards no particular destination, I figured I should, first of all, find where the frontline is.

After that, I should probably join up with the French for now. I don't like them, but it's easier to talk to Colette that way.

As I turn a corner, I hear an explosion in front of me as it looks like a building is destroyed. Then another. And another.

It seems like war has just hit the city. About a good time for me to check for the soldiers.

Flying all the way up, I pulled out Texas, my Salamence, out of my Pokeball.

I figured that if Colette was from another world like I was, she'd at least recognize that I shouldn't have something like this.

Landing on top of Texas, I told him, "Alright, go in that direction.

Texas eagerly roared as it sped towards the battlefield, scaring everyone who looked up.

After a bit of flying and passing over the German soldiers, I found a bunch of people flying towards me on some odd metal horse things.

Right, this world does have magic, huh?

…Why do their instruments of flight look so silly though?

They spotted me at the same time and the first thing I heard was, "SALAMENCE?!"

Ah, Colette. Looks like she is from some version of Earth.

They don't shoot as I fly towards them, stopping Texas a few yards in front of the group of soldiers… Mages? Whatever.

Someone was at the front, obviously Colette, so I observed her just to confirm that she was the person I was looking for.

Yep, this is her. She looks kind of like just an average brunette French girl, to be honest. More hot than cute, but also sporting a nasty expression on her face. Probably because of the war, though.

Alright, time to play the humble pacifist…

Politely bowing, I humbly introduce myself and make my request, "Hello, Colette. My name is Fuse. I'm from the United States of America, but I've been sent to other worlds to collect domino fragments with the same gamer system you likely have. So, Colette, I know you have one of those fragments, so would you mind handing it over to me?"

Colette didn't attack me right away, seeming to consider my offer. All of her fellow soldiers were just waiting for her orders.

Finally, she asked, "Well, this is a bit of a sudden question to ask… Will you give me time to consult my superiors?"
Her superiors? Well, I guess she just wants to make sure the French army will be fine without her considerable power. Well, if the domino fragment gives her power, anyway.

Still, I would like this to be done sooner rather than later.

"Ah, well, this is a deal that should be kept between two gamers, yeah?" I said, declining to allow her to stall.

Colette frowns, "Then in that case… How about you help us destroy Germany- Ah, The Empire of Germania?"

"Sure," I said with no hesitation at all, "As an American, it's my duty to not like the Germans at war. I can clean house with you."

This is going real easy, actually. Colette started smiling, so I assumed that everything was solved and I would get the domino fragment in the easiest way since I started.

That was not meant to be.

Colette asks, "By the way, what do you think of France- Well, Francois?"

Fuse, an American Nationalist, immediately answers, "They're an ally of America. But they're beneath us in every way."

Colette, a French Nationalist, immediately answers, "America has no culture. French culture is superior in every form."

Ah.

She's just like me.

"As a proud American, I can't just let that slide. I'm going to ask you to take that back." I coldly said, mentally preparing myself.

Colette responds in the same way, glowing with arcane power, "The French have no obligation to listen to someone of your stature, American."

They both knew that negotiations had fallen apart. Such was the nature of such vehement love. Someone was going to make the first blow.

I call it first, pulling out Washington and Lincoln, my two pistols, "I'm going to kill you and your so-called high culture."

Colette answers in kind, aiming her rifle straight at me, "You're just vermin under our feet, you clown. You didn't deserve our help in your revolution."

I'm going to fucking kill this inferior creature.

AN:

Honestly, these past 30 days have not been good to me. First was my finger getting bit and sucking all the motivation out of me for 3 weeks. Then I spent hours consuming political content for a week, only for my party to lose in a blow-out election.

Which, by the way, what the fuck guys.

Well, 2025-2029 may not be my best 4 years, or this country's, but I live in California so the worst should not come my way.

Unless a massive earthquake hits. If you see a massive earthquake hit California and I don't upload anything on time, just assume it got my ass lmao.

This chapter is shorter because of the mentioned broken spirit above.

Anyhow, to kick my ass into gear, I said I was gonna publish 100k words in November, just like I did last year (by accident.)

I've written like, 15k words that can be published in November if I write quick enough, and it's already 9 days in. So oops, gotta pick up the pace. I'll probably add in Author's Notes too lmao.

The punishment for losing, I haven't decided. Maybe I'll ask the people on my Discord server for ideas.

Speaking of my Discord Server, I finally finished making the outlines I promised like a month ago. So if you want to know what happens in the next chapter before I write it, you can see it there. Then you can also see me write it in real time because I'll use the same google doc.

Of course, because I didn't get to writing this until like 8 hours ago, the outline for next chapter isn't started yet. But I have to upload on November 9th, so it'll be there in like, 2 hours. It's like 5 AM.

Anyways, I made an MS Paint for my three main fics. I think I made this like 2 weeks ago but I forgot to upload it then.

[Naturally, FFN doesn't allow for pics.]
