Discovering The Forgotten Sector Part II
Date: August 8, 176 BBY, Location: Yaga System, Planet: Yaga Minor, Time: 7:38 P.M.
The Celestial Voyager emerged from hyperspace, revealing Yaga Minor's vibrant landscapes below. Known for its lush fields and agricultural output, the planet thrived, yet it held secrets that beckoned to explorers like Chasin and his wives.
"Welcome to Yaga Minor, everyone." Chasin announced, a broad grin on his face as he shared the moment with his family.
After landing, they checked into the prestigious Galactic Haven Resort, a luxurious hotel with stunning views of the sprawling cityscape and the planet's magnificent ringed horizon. A brief rest at the resort revitalized them, and soon they were wandering the bustling streets of Yaga Minor's capital, excitement pulsing in the air. After an exhilarating day of exploration, they returned to the resort, ready to dive into their research the next morning.
Date: August 9, 176 BBY, Time, 9:00 A.M., Location: Yaga Minor's Main Historical Archives
After breakfast, the family discussed their plans over steaming cups of cafe before heading to the Main Historical Archives. The grand halls loomed before them, filled with towering shelves and intricate holo-displays of data spheres. Chasin and his wives moved purposefully through the aisles, searching for records related to Darth Maglus's expeditions. They meticulously combed through data dice and ancient texts, hoping to uncover hints about the long-lost Sith explorer.
Hours passed as they delved into the archives, yet frustration mounted. Despite their efforts, they found no direct mentions of Darth Maglus or hints of his journeys into the Unknown Regions.
Pulchra sighed, rubbing her temples. "We're running out of time. There's so much information here, but nothing pointing us directly to Maglus's trail."
Chasin frowned, feeling a weight of disappointment. Closing his eyes, he reached out with the Force, seeking guidance in this moment of uncertainty. A faint sensation tugged at him—a whisper of the Force, subtle yet persistent, pulling him toward a dimly lit section of the archives. Opening his eyes, a renewed sense of purpose ignited within him.
"I think I might have an idea," he said, motioning to his wives. "Follow me."
They trailed behind Chasin as he led them into an isolated corner of the archives, where an old, dust-covered bookcase stood, its shelves filled with data dices inscribed with archaic scripts. Mugruco tilted her head, narrowing her eyes at the area.
"This section hasn't been accessed in ages. What led you here, Chasin?" she murmured, running her hand over the bookcase's edge.
Chasin ran his fingers along the dusty shelves, allowing the Force to guide his movements. Mugruco activated her excavation scanner, letting its sensors sweep over the walls and floor. Her gaze sharpened as the scanner emitted a strange reading.
"Chasin… I think there's more here than meets the eye," she whispered. "My scanner's detecting something solid behind this wall—a hidden chamber of sorts. There's a faint trace of durasteel—perhaps a concealed door?"
Chasin's heart raced. "A hidden chamber… sealed off, too." He turned to his wives, excitement mingling with caution. "It could be an archive from an older era, maybe even a relic from the Sith themselves."
They stepped back, studying the wall's texture. Layers of cement blended seamlessly with the surrounding structure, almost invisible to the naked eye. If a room existed behind this wall, it had been intentionally concealed—possibly containing ancient knowledge too dangerous to remain exposed.
Sahaz leaned forward, her Cathar instincts sharpening. "If the Sith were involved, this could be perilous. Sith secrets are rarely left unguarded."
Pulchra nodded, her expression serious. "We need to proceed carefully. But if there's information in there that could help us retrace Maglus's steps, it's worth investigating."
Mugruco retrieved a toolkit from her belt, selecting a precision cutting tool designed for durasteel work. "We'll need to clear away the outer layer without damaging what's inside. Chasin, could you give me a hand?"
Chasin stepped up, retrieving a matching set of tools from her kit. In a calm, loving tone, he replied, "Of course, my dear."
Mugruco's face lit up with gratitude, quickly transforming into a determined expression. "Let's do this."
The rest of his wives watched in silent anticipation as Chasin and Mugruco began to cut into the wall, peeling back layers to reveal the outline of a hidden doorway. With each pass of the cutting tool, excitement built among them, each wondering what secrets lay beyond.
After several tense minutes, the doorway—an ancient yet advanced computerized entryway, complete with speakers and a digital keypad—stood fully exposed, awaiting the secrets it harbored.
Time: 2:00 P.M.
Chasin Momeoran nodded, his gaze drawn to an ancient inscription arching above the doorway. The script was familiar, its dark elegance resonating with memories of countless hours spent poring over Sith texts during his previous life on Earth. Having immersed himself in Star Wars lore—from the Darth Bane trilogy to the tales of the Old Republic—he considered himself a scholar of the galaxy's darker histories.
"Mugruco, look at this," he said, pointing at the glimmering characters that flickered softly in the dim light.
Mugruco approached, her lekku twitching with anticipation. "What does it say?" she asked, her voice a mix of eagerness and caution.
"It's the Sith Code," Chasin replied, recalling the chilling words that echoed in his mind. "It goes: 'Peace is a lie; there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.'"
As he recited the code, he felt the weight of its ancient philosophy envelop him, the air thickening with its dark promise. To his astonishment, the speakers embedded in the wall responded to his voice, a low hum of machinery awakening in response to his words.
The door etched with Sith characters responded, revealing another question inscribed above. Chasin read it aloud, "Who is the mighty Sith Lord who conquered Alderaan and faced his greatest Jedi foe?"
"Darth Maglus," he answered, a thrill of excitement rushing through him as the ancient door slid open, granting access to the inner chamber.
As the doorway swung aside with a resonant hum, Chasin and his wives stepped into the small room, their excitement mingling with trepidation. The air inside felt charged, heavy with the echoes of knowledge lost to time. Dim light flickered over shelves burdened with dusty data-dices and dormant data-pads—each a relic, potentially holding secrets of the past.
"This place hasn't been touched in ages," Mugruco murmured, her eyes scanning the room. "Whatever secrets it holds could reshape our understanding of Darth Maglus and his conquests."
Pulchra, ever the pragmatist, began examining the chamber. "Let's focus on finding a way to recharge these data-pads. If we can restore their power, we may unlock the information we need."
Chasin nodded, glancing toward a nearby bookcase filled with neglected relics. He reached for one of the data-pads, its surface cold and lifeless. A frown crossed his face. "It looks like all of these are out of power. We'll need to find a way to recharge them."
Sahaz, her feline features illuminated by the soft glow of the chamber, inspected a nearby wall. "There might be a recharging station here. These facilities often had backup systems for maintenance."
Mugruco moved closer to the bookcase, her fingers brushing against the ancient materials. "If we can find a power source, we could unlock everything in this chamber—the forgotten history of Darth Maglus, including his conquests and encounters. This could be the information his enemies don't want the galaxy to know."
Chasin searched the wall, his fingers gliding over the surface, seeking any indication of a recharging station. Just as he was about to voice his concern, he felt a faint pulse in the Force—a guiding presence leading him to a small panel hidden behind a stack of neglected data-dices. With a gentle press, the panel popped open, revealing a set of power connectors.
"Here it is!" he exclaimed, a rush of hope surging through him. "Let's plug in the data-pads and see if we can get anything to power up."
Together, they connected the dormant devices to the station. The room filled with a low hum as the devices began flickering to life, one by one. Chasin watched with bated breath as the screens gradually illuminated, unveiling data that had been dormant for eons.
"Come on, come on." Mugruco urged, her excitement palpable.
Finally, one of the data-pads blinked to full life, projecting a holographic interface above its surface. Chasin leaned closer, his heart racing as ancient knowledge began to unfold before him. "Let's see what secrets you hold." he said, navigating the interface.
Fragments of information emerged, revealing details of Darth Maglus that his enemies don't want the wider Galaxy to known. Chasin scrolled through the data, uncovering star systems cataloged by Maglus's forces, rich with resources and strategic value. "He expanded the Sith Empire into the Unknown Regions, uncovering forty star systems in total." He paused, feeling the weight of this history. "But it mentions that after the Treaty of Coruscant, he abandoned many of these worlds, leaving only remnants behind."
The room fell silent as they absorbed the implications of his words. The legacy of Darth Maglus was both grand and tragic—his conquests marred by his eventual retreat, a history woven with threads of power and loss.
Suddenly, a warning blared from the data-pad, jolting them from their reverie. "It looks like there's a security protocol," Chasin said, glancing back at the entrance. "We need to be careful. If the archives' security detects us, we could set off alarms or worse."
Sahaz's ears perked up, instincts sharpening. "We need to hurry and get what we can. If anyone catches wind of this, they might come to investigate."
With urgency, Chasin and his wives continued to sift through the data, unearthing mentions of ancient temples, hidden artifacts, and notes on the flora and fauna Maglus encountered during his journeys. Chasin could feel the Force guiding him toward something significant, but before he could decipher it, another alert blared from the data-pad.
"Two security droids are approaching from the entrance!" Pulchra exclaimed, her voice laced with alarm.
"We can't be caught here!" Mugruco said, her eyes darting around the room. "What do we do?"
"Everyone, grab what you can!" Chasin shouted, his engineer's instincts kicking in. "We'll make a run for it, but we need to be quick."
With swift movements, they collected data-dices and critical information, stowing them away in their bags. As the low mechanical whir of the droids grew louder, Chasin activated a hidden panel beside the entrance, revealing a narrow passage leading deeper into the archives.
"Quick! This way!" he urged, ushering his wives into the darkness as the droids rounded the corner, their sensors scanning for intruders.
They fled down the passage, their hearts racing as the echoes of their footsteps reverberated through the air. Behind them, the ominous whir of the security droids closed in. Chasin felt the weight of the knowledge they had uncovered pressing upon him, aware that their journey was only just beginning.
As they emerged into a larger chamber, Chasin glanced back at his wives, determination blazing in his eyes. "We can't let this information fall into the wrong hands. We need to decipher everything and learn the truth about Darth Maglus before anyone else does."
With that, they ventured deeper into the shadows of the archives, the weight of ancient secrets guiding their steps as they prepared for the challenges that lay ahead.
August 10, 176 BBY, Time: 1:08 A.M., Location: Varinal, Brartal III – Chasin Momeoran's Modest Estate
After the intensity of their midnight expedition to Yaga Minor's ancient archives, Chasin Momeoran, his wives, and their team returned to the sanctuary of their estate. The air hummed with the quiet thrill of discovery as they deposited bags filled with data-dices, relics, and reactivated data-pads on the study's expansive table. Fatigue from the mission tugged at them, yet a spark of anticipation kept them from fully succumbing to sleep. They exchanged weary nods and dispersed, allowing themselves a few hours of rest before the work ahead.
9:00 A.M.
The sunlight filtered through the high windows, illuminating the study where Chasin and his wives reconvened. Chasin felt a new sense of purpose igniting within him as he surveyed the artifacts and data they had risked everything to recover. Today, they would explore the legacy of Darth Maglus in more detail—and, as he'd begun to realize in the early hours of the morning, consider their own future in this forgotten corner of the galaxy.
Pulchra was already awake, organizing the materials they'd retrieved. Sahaz Lor was meticulously examining some of the data regarding the flora and fauna of the star systems Maglus had cataloged. Mugruco reviewed maps of ancient hyperspace lanes leading into the Unknown Regions.
"This star system, the Varnis System." Chasin said, pointing at a glowing map, "Is just 197 light-years from Yaga Minor. A mere jump into the Unknown Regions. And, look here—Varnis itself is a habitable world, one and a half times the size of Coruscant, covered in lush jungles and ancient structures."
Mugruco's eyes narrowed as she studied the map. "You're suggesting… colonizing this? Building something of our own?" Her voice was skeptical, but her gaze showed a hint of intrigue. "Chasin, this is ambitious even for you. A forgotten Sith outpost is no simple matter to explore, let alone control."
"But think of the potential." he countered, excitement bubbling in his voice. "Maglus's conquests in these regions left behind resources, technology, and the ruins of fortifications. We wouldn't be starting from scratch."
The room grew tense as they discussed the risks and rewards. Chasin's idea was grand, but not without obstacles. Pulchra crossed her arms thoughtfully. "We have the shipyards on Brartal III." she mused. "That infrastructure is more valuable than we ever thought. We could manufacture ships but we need to start small and see what this forgotten sector holds."
Mugruco, though clearly apprehensive, couldn't entirely hide her own spark of curiosity. "But where does this lead? Even if we create a foothold, this will draw attention—especially from powers that want to keep the Unknown Regions untouched and unseen."
Chasin's gaze softened as he looked at his wives, knowing the weight of the decision he was asking them to consider. "Which is why I'm thinking of after we and some other galactic adventurers that are in own payroll to keep their lips sealed and we beginning to colonize this forgotten sector I'm thinking of buy the designs of some warships or design my own warship designs for both protection and to have Law and order in my new Kingdom. All this could take a few years to a couple of decades. We have a unique opportunity here, a chance to build something stable, something lasting. To create our own legacy—a Kingdom, or perhaps a sanctuary in these unexplored reaches."
Sahaz spoke up, her soft voice underlined with determination. "If we can study the wildlife and environment on Varnis, we could learn things that will make the world itself our ally. Its jungles, resources, and ecosystem could be invaluable assets."
The conversation turned to heated debate as they weighed Chasin's grand vision against the practicalities and dangers that lay ahead. Mugruco, ever the historian, struggled to reconcile her caution with the raw allure of discovery. Chasin's words hung in the air, charged with ambition. "Our shares in the Brartal III company give us the power to retain control, at least for now. With our shipyards producing my Celestial Voyager explorer shuttles, we could slowly expand—test the waters without attracting unwanted attention."
Mugruco sighed, her resolve softening. "If we proceed carefully, I'll stand by you. We must understand Varnis and the forces that may be drawn to it. Darth Maglus's records may contain more hidden dangers than we realize."
Chasin nodded. "Agreed. We'll begin by assembling a small team. We'll gather the right crew—archaeologists, scientists, engineers—to explore and establish a preliminary base on Varnis. Our mission will be to survey, catalog, and evaluate."
Pulchra placed a hand on his shoulder, her supportive gaze reflecting a mixture of concern and excitement. "We'll stand by you, Chasin. But remember, this isn't just your ambition; it's a journey for all of us."
Sahaz stepped forward, adding, "Let's prepare ourselves carefully. There's no telling what we might find in those jungles—or what remnants of Sith history await."
As they finalized their plans, Chasin felt a sense of unity and resolve, knowing they would face whatever lay ahead as a family. They had taken the first steps toward something monumental, stepping into the shadows of history—and perhaps, one day, shaping a legacy of their own in the forgotten sector of the galaxy.
