*Geeze, there are so many heroes here, don't they have patrol or something else they should be doing?* Shuichi thought a touch irritated as he tried to navigate his way through the halls of the U.A stadium without losing his grip on Kaori's hand as he guided her back from the public bathrooms.

Kaori didn't seem to be as bothered by the crowd and was excitedly searching the crowd for heroes that Deku-Sensei had mentioned or anyone that was covered in scales like her 'Ani-Chans'. Shuichi couldn't blame her though as he would have been a bouncing ball of pure excitement if he had gotten to watch the sports festival in person at her age.

Oh, who was he kidding, Shuichi was just as bad as Kaori when Miyake gave them the sports festival tickets last week, and it was a personal dream come true to be here at the stadium. The dream had started out like how most kids did with him being one of the students down in the stadium with a crowd cheering him on, that dream in particular had shriveled up years ago and he was very happy with his current future in I.T or with electronics in general.

But going to watch the sports festival in person was something he never thought he'd ever be able to do because of how insane the price was for tickets even in the nosebleed seats. There were exceptions made for students' families though or at least that's what Miyake told him when he gave them the tickets.

Miyake-San had work so he left it to Shuichi to take Kaori to watch Masao at the festival and he wasn't going to turn down such an amazing opportunity and immediately agreed, and today had been going exactly as he hoped it would. Things were going very well for Masao, and he ended up cheering right alongside Kaori as Masao dominated the first two rounds with his friends in tow.

Masao had taught him a lot about crawling around and moving quickly with their reptilian biology, but seeing Masao using those things that he taught him to race past the other students was so awe inspiring. And that wasn't to say anything about how cool Masao was for doing it all while literally carrying his friends to victory. Kaori happily told him who each of his friends were and why they were just as awesome when they saw them on screen before the second round started.

Things hadn't been hundred percent peachy though and there were one or two hiccups, namely taking Kaori to the bathroom since there would be a break while the students took part in the recreational games so she wouldn't miss the one-on-one matches, mainly because it hadn't occurred to him how 'odd' he would look leading around a young girl that had no visible relation to him.

Thank God, U.A gave matching 'family' passes to each students' family, otherwise the hundreds of heroes in attendance would have been dragging him down to the nearest police station. He and Kaori still got a lot of looks from the other women in the bathrooms, was it really that uncommon for a male member of family to take their sister/daughter to the bathrooms?

Getting back to the section for family it was calmer and there weren't as many heroes there which helped him relax. Shuichi wasn't sure at what point he adopted the South Siders paranoia of heroes but then again this was the first time he's left the South Side since being, well… "adopted" by Miyake-San so it probably wasn't that obvious in hindsight.

Finding their seats again Shuichi picked up Kaori and held her in the crook of his arm so she could see the whole field with him, and she gasped "Look Igu-Chan! There's Ani-Chan's friend Hado-Chan and she's making the pretty ribbons again!" Kaori exclaimed and glanced towards where she directed indeed seeing the girl using her quirk to jump high to help the two squirrel girls from their class take down the temporary stalls for the games.

*We must have been gone longer than I thought.* Shuichi mused in his mind "Yeah, I'm glad she's feeling better." He commented and Kaori nodded, practically bobbing her little head. "It was really scary when the mean lady knocked her over, I'm glad Yaya-Chan blew her up." Kaori responded and Shuichi sighed in his head "I don't think she was aiming for Hado Imouto-Chan, and you shouldn't call her mean just because of an accident." Shuichi told the girl.

Kaori pouted "Maybe, but I still don't like her." Kaori begrudgingly conceded *I'll take it.* Shuichi thought, for someone so young and innocent looking Kaori held some hard grudges for a toddler. She only let go of a grudge against Dabi for taking one of her gummy worms because he was hurt.

*And that wraps our recreational activities folks! Now it's time for the main event little listeners and team Gushiken have chosen which two members will be moving on so let's get our bracket up so our students can start preparing themselves while we get the arena ready.* Present Mic announced and Kaori started bouncing in his arms.

Shuichi's lips traitorously twitched up into a grin at the sight and he had to force his eyes to look at the screens for the battle line up.

{MIYAKE VS YAMAGATA}
{TOGATA VS SONE}

{SASAKI VS HAYA}

{HADO VS KENRANZAKI}

{KIDO VS MINETA}

{ICHIHARA VS TAKAO}

{NAGATA VS SMITH}

{AMAJIKI VS UENO}

"Look Igu-Chan, Ani-Chan is gonna be the first one to fight!" Kaori shouted and Shuichi chuckled "Yeah I can see that Imouto-Chan, and he's going to be up against one of the support kids if I remember the classes right." He said and Kaori face scrunched up then she had up her hands "A, b, c," Kaori muttered slowly counting letters on her fingers "F, g! Yeah Maga-Kun should be in the support course Igu-Chan." She happily confirmed for him.

And Kaori's little countdown took up the minute or so it took to get the field ready, to be fair though the only thing the teachers had to do was paint the usual guidelines for the ring and the ground was already flat for the recreational games, and it only took a minute max for the referee, Mastermind to get down to the field and in position.

*Little listeners are you ready for this all-out brawl fest of the tournament?* Present Mic asked riling up the crowd around them and Kaori cheered as well *That's what I'm talking about! Now let me introduce our first two fighters, drumroll please Gen?* Present Mic requested and there was an odd thumping sound that was kind of like someone drumming their fingers.

*In one corner we have the one-man dynamo, the scaled beast of 1-A whose made it his personal mission to drag his teammates kicking and screaming to the top… Miyake!* Present Mic introduced as Masao walked out to the field to the entire crowd cheering for him "Yay Ani-Chan!" Kaori cried and Shuichi had to readjust his grip on her, so he didn't drop her.

*And in the other corner we have a techno whiz kid from our lovely support department, but make no mistake that this kid is no squeaker, the fierce Yamagata will take his piece of the pie!* Present Mic proclaimed and the rodent-quirked boy walked out decked out in his gear getting another round of applause.

Once the two were standing across from each other Mastermind raised one of his hands *The match shall end when one of the two students have either crossed the borderline, been pinned for ten seconds, surrendered, or knocked out. There will be no mauling or grievous bodily harm allowed. Both students have the right to forfeit at any point during the match and if I feel either of you can't continue for any reason, I will call the fight and will use my quirk if you don't comply. Do you both understand the rules as I've laid them out?* the man asked, receiving a nod from both students.

*Excellent, the fight will begin in 3, 2, 1!* Mastermind exclaimed rapidly, bringing his hand down and Masao launched himself at Yamagata.

Not expecting Masao's speed Yamagata panicked and sent out a spider drone at Masao, Masao in response didn't slow down and instead opened his mouth and easily crushed the robot in his jaws by slamming his chin into the ground, the crunch of metal being heard throughout the arena without the need for mics.

Masao spat the robot out the next second wrapping his tail around the remains then harshly tossed it to the arena wall and again charged at the stunned Yamagata who only managed to get away by a few feet "Get him Ani-Chan!" Kaori yelled.

*That my listeners, is the power of evolution. Miyake here has just used a method of crushing hard objects from his quirk's namesake the shingleback lizard, one that became so commonly used the Shingleback lizards evolved a tougher lower jawbone only a few generations back to compensate.* Present Mic informed the people, but Shuichi was more interested in watching Masao chase around Yamagata.

Unfortunately for Yamagata Masao was able to pin him in seconds and he became tense when Yamagata suddenly pulled out something and jabbed it at Masao's lower jaw then electricity rolled over his body "Ani-Chan!" Kaori cried reasonably scared for her brother, and Shuichi was just as worried about him since being shocked was no small thing.

But Masao's body (while twitchy) didn't move, and the electricity stopped within a few seconds and other than the expected and uncontrollable twitching that would happen Masao hadn't moved from where he was over Yamagata *Wow that was quite the light show little listeners but who would've thought that Miyake could have taken a blow like that right on the chin?* Present Mic commented as Masao shook his body.

Masao having gotten his bearing back did not waste time and tossed Yamagata aside and out of the ring *And Miyake has a quick recovery too that has given him the first win of the one-on-ones!* Present Mic announced as the crowd cheered "Ani-Chan has won Igu-Chan!" Kaori exclaimed and Shuichi just nodded along since he was still worried about Masao, people don't just shake off being electrocuted unless they had a quirk for it.

Masao at least didn't look too bad from what he could see as he helped Yamagata to his feet, but he was far away enough that he couldn't trust his eyes alone. Shuichi didn't want to worry Kaori though so he was planning to make some time to go check on Masao in a few seconds, he just had to double check whether the family members were able to go into the student areas of the arena on his phone.

"Hey, Imouto-Chan, do you want to go down to see Masao-Kun to congratulate him?" Shuichi asked once he saw the confirmation he could go down there, Kaori blinked up at him "But we can't go now, To-Chan's fight is next, and we have to see all of his friends' fights." Kaori protested and Shuichi sweat-dropped "We are going to Imouto-Chan, but we can watch Togata-San's match from the booth with them." Shuichi suggested hoping she would go along with it.

Kaori pouted at him "No Igu-Chan we'll miss part of To-Chan's battle if we leave now." Kaori argued pouting at him, Shuichi tried to think of something else he could say to convince her *Now let's get our next match up and running, and to kick start this with our local upstart engineer from 1-G Sone!* Present Mic proclaimed before he could think of anything and Shuichi mentally sighed, knowing he wouldn't be able to convince her until the match ended.

*Then let's give his opponent just as warm a welcome, the ever-untouchable Togata of the hero course who's ready to represent 1-B!* Present Mic announced and once Kaori saw the blonde walking out into the stadium she started cheering "Go To-Chan! Ani-Chan believes in you!" Shuichi couldn't help feeling touched by Kaori's insistence on supporting Masao and his friends even though she didn't know them.

Mastermind repeated the list of rules for the two and Shuichi hoped the match would end soon so he could try to get Kaori down so he could check on Masao in person. And much like any monkey palm wish he got what he wanted… but in the worst way possible. The second the match started Togata used his quirk and disappeared into the ground without his clothes.

And ten seconds later Togata 'popped' out of the ground and Shuichi immediately had to cover Kaori's eyes "Hey Igu-Chan! Stop! I can't see To-Chan's fight!" Kaori whined trying to pull his hand away, but Shuichi wouldn't let her and kept his eyes down and away "I'm sorry Imouto-Chan but I can't do that, your dad would gut me and hang me from the roof." Shuichi apologized, much too flustered seeing one of Masao's friends in such a compromising position to make out what Present Mic was saying over the crowd's outcry.
