Yuyu felt herself get quite flushed as she covered her eyes and turned away from the field *Oh my God, Togata, I know you can't control it but why?* She thought embarrassed she had once again seen the blonde's, um… "plumbing" after he popped out of the ground, she knew it was an unavoidable problem due to the nature of his quirk but it never made her any less flustered when she accidently saw him in the nude.
Most of her class were in similar positions and those who weren't her friends were completely aghast given it was the first time they had seen Togata's quirk, and with the overpowering cry of the crowd she was sure the only people who weren't embarrassed were Miyake who just blinked whenever it happened and Oswald who threw his head back with a groan and covered his eyes "Christ Mirio, why didn't you ask the support course for undies at least?" Oswald complained.
Yuyu heard Hado laugh nervously "Oh come on Oz-Chan, it isn't that bad. Besides you know he's going to go in to get his haircut today for his costume because they couldn't make it before now." Hado reminded him and Oswald tsked back "Yeah, yeah but he's still flashing the world Hado, won't anyone think of the children?" Oswald questioned and she could tell he wasn't being serious about it.
*Apologies folks for the technical difficulties, had to cut the footage until we got the appropriate sensors applied to preserve Togata's dignity, unfortunately little listeners Togata's bold move didn't pay off as Sone took advantage of his breathlessness to knock him clear out of the ring.* Mic-Sensei tensely announced, likely feeling very awkward about it.
Yuyu couldn't blame him though since he probably just saw Togata naked and might not be able to look away since he was supposed to run commentary. She felt sorry for Togata though since he went through all the trouble of using his quirk and lost almost immediately, she should probably do something to try and cheer him up after her match.
Since there was no damage to the field, she would likely be up next in a few minutes and she risked a glance at the field to see if Togata and Sone were still on the field. Thankfully Togata had gotten his pants back on and he was busy apologizing to the red-faced girl while he was picking up the rest of his clothes.
"It's my turn to go out there, wish me luck?" Yuyu said getting glomped by Hado "You won't need it Haya-Chan! You're going to kick that Sasaki's butt." Hado proclaimed giving her a big smile "You can't fuck it up worse than Mirio did." Oswald helpfully commented and then received a whack to the back of the head again "Is this a thing now? Like I'm okay with you guys eating me but I ain't taking any underserved domestic shit from you guys." Oswald warned them, pointing a finger at Miyake.
Shaking her head Yuyu pushed Hado off her and left the booth and headed down for the field through the many tunnels. She ran her hands through her hair while taking a deep breath. "You'll be okay Yuyu, you just have to do your best and if you lose you can focus on cheering on your friends." She told herself, checking the floor she made sure she was still following the line to the tunnel she would walk out of.
She was about halfway there when she saw Togata walking back "Hey Togata, Miyake and the others are waiting for you." She said, Togata blinked seemingly surprised "Oh, right. Ah, not sure they're gonna want to see me right now Haya, your class I mean. Considering they just saw my, ya know." Togata pointed out awkwardly rubbing his neck and not quite looking her in the eye.
Yuyu frowned and raised an eyebrow at him "Yeah maybe, but if any of them try to give you any trouble Miyake will take care of it, I mean have you seen how many times he's knocked Oswald on the back of the head today?" she asked her hands on her hips and Togata nervously chuckled "I don't know about that." He replied lightly scratching his cheek.
Feeling a bit off put by how weird Togata was being about this when he normally wasn't so awkward about being seen naked. But she tentatively was going to put it down as him being nude on live tv being different from when it was just his friends "Ok, but I'm pretty sure Amajiki is going to need all the confidence he can get and having his best friend there will probably help." Yuyu off-handedly commented with a shrug.
And predictably once it was about being useful Togata bucked right up "Oh yeah, Sunny must be totally freaking out by now. Having something to nibble on usually helps but I don't know if I remembered to bring any hard candy for him, maybe Miyake still has some candied ants or Oz will let him chew on his hair… " Togata agreed, devolving into muttering as he headed towards the locker rooms.
Job done Yuyu mentally patted herself on the back then continued onto the entrance tunnel feeling about a quarter less stressed, soon she was standing at the threshold and fiddled with her shirt as she waited for Mic-Sensei to cue her to go out, something about being right at the lip of the massive gateway had driven up her anxiety.
*Then in this corner here is our ecstatic huntress of class 1-A, perhaps a descendent of Artemis herself, the positively electric Haya!* Mic-Sensei finally said and hesitated for a second then schooled her face before she walked out as calmly as she could, which was hard when she could feel the eyes of everyone in the crowd on her the second she left the tunnel.
Yuyu in an attempt to force the crowd from her mind tried to narrow her prospective on her fight and her opponent, she couldn't remember if Togata had ever mentioned the gray-haired boy standing across from her right now, even thinking back to the other two rounds she didn't have any hint of what his quirk was though she could tell he didn't have a regular mutation quirk like Miyake.
"Do you both understand the rules as I've laid them out for you?" Master-Sensei questioned and though she had tuned it out Yuyu knew them from when previously said them and nodded with a gulp "Good, the match will start in 3, 2, 1!" Master-Sensei declared and Yuyu jumped to the side as soon as the match officially began.
An instinctive action that paid off as a strong blast of air might've knocked her out of the ring if she hadn't moved, quickly building a soft charge in one hand Yuyu threw the six-inch-long arrow at Sasaki who's hair was now floating around his head like he was underwater, Sasaki raised a hand and released a blast of concentrated air which then to her shock her arrow was basically ripped apart.
*For those of you who've forgotten everything you learned about electricity, it flows better in certain materials, like metal and water but air is a horrible conductor, and it looks like Sasaki has found a way to weaponize that against Haya.* Mic-Sensei helpfully explained making her stomach drop.
Sasaki however gave her a cocky smirk as he let his head fall to the side, not liking that look she quickly built a massive charge in her hands and drove the spear-sized arrow into the ground the same second Sasaki started to blast her with a gust strong enough that would've forced her out of bounds if she didn't have the spear to keep her in place, the wind blowing around her was also tearing into the spear so she had to pump more volts into the spear to keep it around so she wouldn't lose.
Yuyu grit her teeth and would have glared at Sasaki if she could've opened her eyes wider than a small crack, taking a deep breath Yuyu took one hand off the spear and pushed the glands in her hands to the brink so that she could make a second spear and keep both coursing with enough electricity that they weren't torn apart by the wind.
With two spears Yuyu began to slowly move forward toward Sasaki, seeing this boy increased the strength of his whirlwind making her stop for a moment before she continued forward, by the time she was within a meter of him Sasaki again ramped up his quirk and her feet were lifted off the ground and she had to duck her head because she couldn't look at him directly anymore because of how intense the wind was.
*This can't last forever, his quirk will need to stop at some point, I just need to outlast him.* Yuyu mentally reassured herself simply reassuring herself then began counting down from thirty in her head, then twenty when Sasaki was still blowing harshly, just getting to nine was when Yuyu felt the gust being abruptly cut off and her knees hit the ground a bit too hard for it to be pleasant.
But she couldn't let that stop her and she released the spears letting them dissipate as she rushed at Sasaki, the boy was panting clearly sweating from overuse, but he had raised his other hand, so Yuyu knew she had to do something and fast, building a charge in her hands she made sure both palms had a positive charge and clapped her hands.
Something Yuyu had learned in training with her friends was that by doing this it resulted in a massive electrical boom, like a mini strike of lightning and it was more than enough for what she needed as Sasaki was sent back on his ass, knowing she couldn't waste a second Yuyu didn't stop her charge and grabbed Sasaki's arm.
Having a good grip she again used her quirk tasing Sasaki making him dazed enough for her to drag him to his feet and she swung him around, Sasaki hadn't moved from where he first stood so Yuyu didn't need to move him far and when Sasaki put a foot down to stay upright it was on the other side of the line "Enough, the match is over. Haya is the winner." Master-Sensei shouted, and she felt a massive weight off her shoulder as she let go of Sasaki.
Turning towards where 1-A's booth was she could make out the figures of her friends waving at her and she knew they were probably congratulating her, Yuyu smiled walking to the tunnels out of the spotlight and back to her friends. Feeling so relieved to have finished her first match and to have won on top of that was on a bit of a slight high made her walk back up to the booth feel much shorter.
She had hardly made it one foot in before Hado jumped her with a hug "I told you, you were going to kick that Sasaki's butt!" Hado gleefully exclaimed laughing "Yeah, I really did huh?" Yuyu replied hugged her back "And all without losing your pants too." Oswald commented making Togata chuckled a bit awkwardly, Miyake didn't whack him that time and instead poked him with his claw.
Oswald winced and shot the tall boy a look "Hey it was a valid concern with how windy it got down there." Oswald protested and Miyake conceded with a thrill. Yuyu hadn't considered that in the moment but now she suddenly felt very grateful that she didn't lose her pants during the match.
"It's my turn to go up there and I can't wait, I'm going to try my best so we can both be down there in the next round!" Hado cheered before running out of the booth and down the hall, unsurprised Yuyu just sighed wondering when she had begun growing oddly fond of Hado's pinball energy then returned to her seat by her friends, Miyake sat on the floor instead of the seats which were too small for him.
Amajiki sat curled up in Miyake's side mostly trying to hide from the world with Togata trying to comfort him, Oswald was the only one seated like herself, the rest of their class was there too but they felt like they were just kind of… there in the background, she tried not to feel too bad about it since they likely didn't hold her in a better regard if at all.
Turning her gaze to the field she saw Cementoss-Sensei had already patched up the small holes she had made in the field so Hado would be out on the field any second *Small setbacks aside, I think we're ready to get right back into it folks. So, let me introduce you to the ever so lovely and excitable Hado of 1-A who gave us such a nice opening speech earlier.* Mic-Sensei said getting a decent applause from the crowd as Hado walked out with a bounce in her step.
*As well as her formidable opponent our sole representative of class 1-F, the technological visionary Kenranzaki.* Mic-Sensei proclaimed, and the blonde girl Yuyu had yet to see open her eyes walked out onto the field with a wave to the crowd, Yuyu had mixed feelings about this match up.
Kenranzaki had hurt Hado both previous rounds of the festival and she wanted to watch her friend kick her butt regardless of whether or not Kenranzaki meant to harm her, it would be quite cathartic for her, but she was also worried what the crazy blonde would do something to hurt Hado again during the fight.
Master-Sensei confirmed both girls understood before he declared the start of the match, Hado knelt down and with her hands on the ground she launched herself at breakneck speed since she blasted off with all four limbs instead of just two, Kenranzaki seemed to be prepared for that and similarly launched herself off the ground with the wire shoot backpack from the first round.
*It seems Kenranzaki has used the short time between breaks to fix up her gadget from the first round and is using it to keep toe-to-toe with Hado.* Mic-Sensei pointed out for the crowd as Hado and Kenranzaki darted around the ring, Hado using short blasts of her quirk to match the sporadic movements of Kenranzaki's support gear.
At some point it was like Hado was flying with how often she using her quirk to try and close the distance between herself, watching the two constantly ducking and weaving demanded every ounce of focus from those watching or they would miss something important, Yuyu was one of them and she was glad to because if she blinked she would have missed it when Kenranzaki managed to wrap a wire around Hado's arm and she used that to swing Hado around on her next jump sending her out of the ring and onto her back.
*Oof, with that final move Kenranzaki has ended their game of chase, and such a harsh take down as well makes you wince right Gen?* Mic-Sensei commented though the joke fell on deaf ears for Yuyu was far more concerned with how Hado was because Kenranzaki hadn't held back when she threw her friend.
Hado pushed herself back to her feet and stood a bit shaky on them, Yuyu couldn't see Hado's face clearly but the screens made up for the distance and showed her Hado's uneasy smile which Yuyu had seen every time her friend was hurt and didn't want to show it, Hado laughed a bit and offered a hand for Kenranzaki to shake and saying something she couldn't make out as the students didn't have any mics on them.
Kenranzaki had a stupid smile on her face that Yuyu feel like whatever she just told Hado was less than genuine as she said something back before leaving the field without acknowledging Hado in any other way, Hado's outstretched hand fell to her side and her smile a little more tense making Yuyu feel even more bitter at the blonde as she once again slighted Hado.
Yuyu knew it would be unwise to be on the bad side of the support course but she could probably get away with not working with 1-F, because unless it was absolutely necessary Yuyu swore she'd never go to Kenranzaki for anything because she refused to give any business to someone who could hurt her friend so blatantly.
Yeah, I'm starting the 'tense' relationship between Haya and Kenranzaki pretty early on
