Hado despite being a ball of energy on some sugar high had far more grace and tact than most people would assume, something that was clearly evident when Oswald passed her as Hado returned to the booth, she still had a placating smile on her face that didn't reach her eyes and Oswald clocked her left leg was moving a bit too jerky for him to be comfortable.
"Nice work out there Hado, make sure to keep my seat warm for me, okay? Something tells me that my fight isn't going to be too easy on me." Oswald requested knowing that would likely get her to sit down since she apparently wasn't going to see Recovery Girl, Hado gave him nod with a big grin "Oaky dokie, Oz!" she told him moving just a bit faster to the booth.
Oswald sighed letting his head fall back as he continued onwards following the line to the field running both of his hands through his hair, he had tried to keep his cool and had unfortunately made more than a few comments that were meaner than he intended in the process to hide his nerves.
He didn't care at all about being dragged in front of the world like some kind of damn show pony and he still wouldn't if it wasn't for what happened with Miyake during the second week of the term, he had hoped that his mom was still out there but now he knew without a shadow of a doubt that she was watching him and cheering him on behind a screen, he did not care if he fell face first with his ass up in the air with a billion strangers watching him but he wanted both his mom and his aunt Trinity to be proud of him.
He hadn't been close to his aunt before the accident but she wasn't that different from his mom and he looked forward to reconnecting with her, or building one from the ground up given the case, which was why his nerves were shot since he woke up, winning would be nice but he needed to make a bigger splash than being some bubblegum colored cartoon if he wanted to be taken seriously as a hero.
Reaching the mouth of the tunnel Oswald took a deep breath and thought back to how excited his mom and aunt Trinity sounded when they called him that morning, hearing that made him feel more nervous since he wanted even more to do something to make them proud of him other than just being here.
*Hello everybody, we're back now that Cementoss has so graciously patched up the field, both former competitors had quite a time as they tore it up. But we have more important things to focus on as we witness the beginning of yet another match between the sister hero courses! Let's hope they'll be half as spectacular.* Mic-Sensei proclaimed getting a decently loud cheer from the crowd.
*Without further ado please welcome our marital arts expert of the year, Kido of 1-B.* the blonde added, and Oswald could see the bluenette's wave to the crowd as they walked out *And his opponent from 1-A, as adaptable as he is flexible, putting black and white animation to shame with his pastel pop, Mineta!* Mic-Sensei said prompting him to leave the tunnel with a scowl.
He hated that his father had changed his name to the bimbo's and forced him to take it as well in some fucked up way of 'family bonding' *As if, the only "family" I need is mom and aunt Trinity.* Oswald thought pushing the other three from his mind and letting himself stare at Kido with an unimpressed look.
Kido had at least twenty pounds of muscle on him and six inches taller, but Togata's classmate was a runt compared to Miyake and he had gotten in some good practice with his classmate, he'd never won any of their sparring matches but Miyake despite his, passive nature always seemed to set the bar to a higher standard, so he didn't feel as intimidated he could be fighting Kido.
Master-Sensei repeated his spiel for the fifth time then began his count down and Oswald rolled his shoulders keeping his eyes on Kido "Start!" Master-Sensei shouted and they both rushed at each other, Oswald slammed his right hand on the ground and forcefully extended the limb allowing him to launch off the ground.
But before he can fully retract his arm Kido's fingers suddenly turned into golden looking claws and he swiped at Oswald's arm, Oswald didn't think Kido meant to do it but he wasn't able to pull his arm back fast enough and cut clean through his arm just above the elbow with his claws, Oswald's body crashed to the ground and he quickly pushed himself to a sitting position and his remaining hand cupped his other arm with a hiss.
He could hear the screams and cries of shock from the crowd at the sudden amputation and even Kido looked shocked by what he had done, Oswald however was more miffed though because he would have to remake it later and his arm was stinging from the cut, the injury itself wasn't as bad as it could've been for anyone else given his body was made from taffy he wouldn't bleed out or anything and he would just need to blow his money on more taffy to regrow it after the festival.
"Seriously dude? Look I know you wanted a piece of me, but you didn't have to take it so literally." Oswald said as he got back to his feet "Are you good to continue Mineta?" Master-Sensei inquired, Oswald huffed and jutted his chin outward with half of a smirk "Yep." He answered and the crowd's protests were deafening.
Master-Sensei lifted his head once again "Quiet." He growled silencing the stadium "Mineta is within bounds of the ring and has not experienced an injury grievous enough that it would force us to disqualify him, he has expressed a desire to continue, and the fight will until someone wins or is disqualified." Master-Sensei coldly told the protesters "Kido, Mineta resume." Master-Sensei instructed.
Not wasting a second Oswald took a deep breath closing his eyes and focusing on his remolding his hair, the pink curls proceeded to unwind and turned into a mass of tentacle-like appendages which he used to push himself off the ground, something Kido apparently wasn't expecting, and he couldn't help smirking as he glared down at the bluenette wishing Master-Sensei's quirk could've worn off so he could make some kind of quip.
*As I tried to explain earlier folks, there is no need to worry about Mineta having to become a lefty. He might look human, but his body is almost completely made of taffy and he'll be able to regrow any missing parts just fine after he eats more, Kido might not be so lucky though when Mineta gets his hands, or should I say tentacles on him.* Mic-Sensei assured the crowd as soon as he regained his ability to speak.
And right the blonde was as Oswald swiftly moved forward using ten extra limbs from his hair to capture Kido in seconds despite Kido's best attempts to cut through it, he tightly bound the boy's limbs before binding him in his hair, pinning the boy to the ground Oswald sat himself on the bluenette's back shortly after and spent the countdown pretending to admire his nails.
"Ten. The match is over, Mineta has won." Master-Sensei said and Oswald stood up, taking a second to concentrate before he successfully removed his hair from Kido and walked over to the side of the ring to grab his separated arm, unfortunately he couldn't reattach it but knowing how much his friends (mostly Hado) liked to have a piece of him he was sure it wouldn't go to waste and Oswald made a beeline back to the booth.
He was unsurprised when he was jumped by Hado the second he entered and proceeded to half-heartedly bonk her with his severed arm "Down man-eater, you can have your piece once I sit down in my seat, the one your ass should be keeping warm." He playfully scolded and she giggled.
"I was Oz! But how could I sit still when you went all Medusa on that guy. I mean it was so cool watching you move around like that during training but that was the first time you used it to catch someone! We would've totally helped you work on it if you just told us." Hado replied following him back to his seat.
Oswald snorted "I've got to keep something up my sleeve, can't be giving away all of my secrets now, can I?" Oswald told her before offering his arm over to Miyake, the reptilian boy broke the arm into two pieces and handed one half that was most of the forearm to Hado and the other half with the hand off to Amajiki, the timid boy took to nibbling on one of the fingers while Hado took a massive bite revealing more of the pale pink his 'flesh' was on the inside.
Glancing at the rest of their classmates Oswald saw they were mostly not looking at them or low-key disturbed as the two's blatant cannibalism and remembered that it wasn't exactly an 'acceptable' thing even when people were edible like himself and willing to share their bodies as food.
Rolling his eyes Oswald turned his attention back to his friends instead with a lazy smile, if offering up his spare parts made his friends happy then he didn't give two fucks if the squirrel girl duo looked like they were going to pass out, especially since he was some kind of a comfort food for Amajiki that he nervously partook in when Oswald gave him the chance.
Oswald did wish that giving up limbs or other actual body parts would hurt less but at least it would pass in a couple of hours, with that thought in mind he threw his remaining arm over the back of his seat and he was about to ask if anyone wanted to bet on which of Togata's classmates were going to win but a young girl's sudden and completely unexpected cry of "Ani-Chan!" interrupted everything as everyone turned to the entrance of the booth.
A toddler with blonde hair had rushed into the room seconds later and was running full speed at Miyake, much like in hero training Miyake did not seem fazed by the random girl's appearance and simply scooped her up in his large hands "Kaori." Miyake greeted apparently familiar with the girl and the toddler giggled happily unmoving in the boy's two hands "You were great out there Ani-Chan!" 'Kaori' cheerfully declared with sharp fangs in her grin.
"A-Ani-Chan?" Amajiki muttered loud enough for them to hear, and Miyake gave a slight nod "This is my little sister Kaori." Miyake replied simply as he put the little girl down on the floor, Oswald frowned looking between the two and seeing diddly squat to hint at the two being related, Kaori's eyes locked onto Amajiki after he spoke and she gasped "You're Jiki-Chan! You're the best of Ani-Chan's friends!" Kaori exclaimed bouncing in place as she stared up at Amajiki with nothing short of awe.
Kaori's reaction took almost everyone aback, especially Amajiki who was sputtering from the knowledge "M- M-me?! B-best?" Amajiki somehow managed to say in a high pitch croak and Kaori clapped squealing "Yes! Ani-Chan said you were just like Midoriya-Chan and you are! So that means you have to be the best, because Midoriya-Chan is the greatest person ever!" the girl proclaimed which only made Amajiki's sputtering worse.
"I didn't know you had a sister Miyake! And she's so super-duper cute too! Oh, and who's Midoriya-Chan? Why are they so important?" Hado questioned happily gushing over the new little addition to the group, and she knelt to the ground to be closer to the young girl.
Kaori's grin got wider if that was possible "You are cute too Hado-Chan! And Midoriya-Chan is the smartest, kindest and most incredible person in the whole world!" Kaori exclaimed with her arms outstretched as if to physically show just how incredible Midoriya was.
"Midoriya-San was my tutor back in middle school, and he helps out around the neighborhood I grew up in, he's shy and nervous around people that he doesn't know like Amajiki is." Miyake explained more clearly for them "And he took all my friends to the Aquarium! And he got us these big fluffy coats and blankets that keep us so, super warm in the winter!" Kaori cheerfully added as she jumped onto Miyake.
Miyake didn't seem to mind as his sister treated him like a jungle-gym "Not to be a downer but isn't she a bit young to be on her own though, isn't she?" Oswald pointed out and Miyake grabbed the girl to look her in the eye "Kaori, does Iguchi-San know you're here?" Miyake questioned and she bobbed her head "Yep! He was the one that wanted to come to see you Ani-Chan, but I don't know why he isn't here yet." Kaori told them blinking and looking a little confused.
As if summoned another person entered the booth, this second person was doubled over panting though Oswald could still see he had a fully scaled reptilian quirk like Miyake but had pink hair instead of any fancy patterns amongst his green scales "I-Imouto-Chan, you can't just run off like that." The guy said speaking directly to Kaori as he walked over to them and Oswald assumed he was likely the 'Iguchi-San' Miyake just mentioned.
"Ooh! Is this your younger brother Miyake-Chan? Why is he green and shouldn't he have a tail like you? And is your hair really that shade of pink or do you dye it?" Hado asked moving to stand next to the boy, Iguchi was caught off guard "W-what?" Iguchi sputtered like Amajiki did.
"No Hado. He is Iguchi, my older brother." Miyake corrected and Iguchi balked while Kaori nodded "Yeah! And I found him last winter when he was all sleepy and we adopted him cause he didn't have family!" Kaori confirmed looking ever so proud of herself, that statement was a lot darker than she intended it to be given Oswald knew how dangerous winter could be for cold-blooded individuals, much less homeless ones from what Kaori was implying.
"Older?" Haya piped in surprising Oswald because thought she had left for the bathroom or something given how quiet she had been since his return "Yes, Iguchi will be eighteen this August." Miyake elaborated for them "And we're going to have a party, you should all come to celebrate with us!" Kaori said looking to be excited at the thought.
"We'd love to!" Hado cheered agreeing for them then went over to Haya "Ooh what kind of presents do you think we should get Iguchi-Chan? What do you like Iguchi-Chan? Do you also like insect candy? Cause I know where to get hero-themed scorpion lollipops." Hado inquired grabbing her backpack likely to search for some of them.
"Y-you don't need to do anything Hado- Wait you have hero-themed insect candy?" Iguchi tried to protest only to back track at that last sentence "Yeah apparently that's a thing, but just because you cannibals like to eat bugs doesn't mean Greenie there does, you shouldn't assume he does because he's a lizard too." Oswald told her and Hado's excitement turned to concern.
"Oh my gosh, I didn't mean to offend you Iguchi-Chan I just thought that if Miyake-Chan liked these then you probably would too ya know since you both have reptile quirks, and now that I say that out loud it doesn't sound much better- I'm going to shut up now." Hado quickly apologized sitting down in a seat looking quite bashful.
"N-no you didn't offend me, I like insects!" Iguchi exclaimed waving his arms and Miyake nodded "Iguchi-San is a green anole gecko so his diet is mostly insects, but Hado you might want to give him some electronics, he goes to a technical school for it and likes tinkering in our room with anything he can get his hands on." Miyake told them.
Hado perked up at that "A bunch of do hickeys, I can definitely do that." She said, glancing back at the field and saw the two students were already on the field "The next fight is going to start in few seconds, you both going to stay and watch with us?" Oswald asked, Iguchi nervously rubbed his neck and was about to say something, but Kaori beat him to it.
"Of course, we will! Watching with Ani-Chan and his friends will be so amazing!" Kaori told him apparently so excited that she couldn't contain herself and Miyake had to readjust his hold so he didn't drop Kaori, Iguchi sighed muttering something under his breath before he settled down on one of the empty seats by Haya, not willing to stir the pot by insisting they go back.
Knowing how petulant kids could be though, Oswald wasn't going to blame him for it and just took a swirl of his hair and held it up "Any of you cannibals want some?" Oswald offered and Hado had no qualms of taking that in addition to his forearm she was still eating "'Kay, it's your teeth you're fucking up." Oswald commented with a shrug before he handed it over then turned back to the match as it began.
Fun fact: his skull, teeth and ribcage are the only parts of Oswald's body that isn't made of taffy and his inner body is only colored a pale pink.
