Ramprasad's eyes took in everything around him, this was his first time going to another country and everything was so different but familiar at the same time. His dad made sure he did know how to speak Japanese, but he couldn't read a word of it and he kind of regretted it because he really wanted to know what was in some of the shops.
His dad wasn't as excited as he was, but his dad got to Japan whenever he wanted to for his job, he wasn't sure what a translator does other then tell them what other people are saying but Ramprasad's dad told him there was a lot of things he didn't understand, his dad said that was normal since he was only five.
Currently he was helping his dad pick up some groceries since they were low on stuff and they were going to be staying for another week, his dad was checking what they were going to get next, and he was standing at a water fountain and he wanted to ask his dad if he could take some of the coins in the water to buy himself a sucker.
Before he could though another kid bumped into him, and he almost fell into the water "Hey!" he cried turning to glare at the kid who blinked staring at him before shaking his head and tossed a coin in the fountain "Hey don't ignore me!" Ramprasad yelled grabbing the kid's shirt and the boy jumped turning around shocked.
"Aren't you going to apologize for running into me?" Ramprasad demanded slightly huffy, but the red-haired kid wasn't even looking at him and just turned his head searching for something "Are you even listening to me?" Ramprasad growled stomping his foot and he accidentally dropped the little key chain his dad just bought him, finally the boy reacted by staring at the keychain with big eyes.
Frowning Ramprasad waved his hand in front of the kid's face "Hey are you blind or something? I'm standing right in front of you?" he asked only for the kid to run off to a woman with the same red hair "Hey!" he yelled only to stop when the kid moved his hands. He had seen a kid in his class move his hands sort of like that because he was deaf, the teacher said it was sign language.
Well, if the boy was deaf that explained why he didn't answer his questions but why didn't he react to Ramprasad's standing right in front of him? It wasn't like he was invisa-
Ramprasad gasped as he realized what had happened, he must have gotten his mom's quirk! And he began jumping with joy.
He had been waiting for his quirk to appear since his fourth birthday, his parents had to take him to a quirk specialist when it didn't show up after they expected it too, the doctor assured them that he had a quirk but they'd just have to wait for to appear on its own, he was told to be careful not to go anywhere alone because they expected he might have get his mom's invisibility quirk.
And he did! No wonder the boy didn't react to Ramprasad's attempts to get his attention, Ramprasad must be invisible right now and since the boy was deaf he couldn't hear him shouting at him.
Incredibly excited to have finally gotten his quirk he ran over to his dad and started tugging on his pants leg "Dad! Dad! I'm invisible like mom!" Ramprasad told him and his dad looked up from the list, only his dad blinked and looked around much like the boy had "Ramps?" His dad called confused.
"Dad I'm right here!" Ramprasad said with a giggle, was this why mom snuck up on people with her quirk? He could see why she said it was fun to be a "ghost"... but then his dad's face became scared "Ramprasad!" his dad called walking over to his dropped keychain and looking around.
"Dad? Dad I'm right here." Ramprasad replied but his dad didn't seem to hear him and called his name again "Dad I'm right here!" he shouted reaching out to grab his dad's pants again.
Suddenly before Ramprasad could reach him his dad ran off into the crowd calling his name "Wait! Dad!" he screamed running after his dad confused why his dad didn't seem to be hearing him, but even though he was the fastest runner in his class he couldn't keep up with his dad and the other people around him couldn't see him see he had to go around them to keep from being run over by someone.
"Dad!" Ramprasad yelled as he lost sight of his dad's brown hair in the crowd, terrified he tried to rush even faster and bumped into a lot of people "Dad!" he screamed tears building in his eyes.
Finally, out of the crowd Ramprasad turned around only to stop when he couldn't see his dad anywhere and began yelling for his dad hoping someone would stop and notice he was there, but no one did.
Sobbing Ramprasad collapsed to his knees and repeatedly called for his dad but none of the hundreds of people around seemed to hear him.
As if he didn't exist at all anymore.
Then the ground under him cracked and split open, a bright purple light coming from the fissure and people started screaming and running away from where the ground continued to pull itself apart, terrified Ramprasad scrambled away from the ledge "Dad!" he screamed as he ran away but the ground was cracking up all around him "Help!" he cried when the ground quickly fractured around him and he couldn't jump over the growing cracks.
Multiple pieces of the ground suddenly jolted before rising into the air and Ramprasad had to hold onto the part he was on or he would've fallen into the chasm left behind "Someone please help me!" Ramprasad pleaded his grip slipping and he was close to falling, then before he could comprehend what was happening his grip on the rock slipped and he was falling.
One second, he was falling, the next he screamed so loud his own ears were ringing from the sound of it as he got closer and closer to the ground.
Before he crashed to the ground though someone crashed into him and they went tumbling off to the side where the ground hadn't split up, Ramprasad's head was still spinning from nearly falling to his... but he could feel someone's arms clutching him close "Shh, sh. You're going to be alright Сын, I've got you now." someone calmly promised him.
Ramprasad hugged the person close and wept into their chest "Come on, let's go somewhere safer Сынок." the person cooed stood up and moving away from where the ground broke open.
Ramprasad managed to calm down some with the person-no, the hero calmly speaking to him, because how could this strong comforting person not be a hero? And he looked up to see who had come to his rescue.
The hero looked super young compared to most of the heroes he knew so Ramprasad figured he might be one of those hero students like his dad told him Japan has, the hero student had curly green hair and freckles dotted his cheeks, and when the hero noticed Ramprasad's eyes were on him the hero beamed down at him with the warmest smile he's ever seen and a great deal of his terror faded with it.
"Everything is going to be just fine Cынок, I'm going to take you to a good friend of mine, and he'll make sure you get back to your dad, okay?" the hero offered and Ramprasad nodded "Please." he begged.
The hero's smile became even bigger and he ruffled Ramprasad's hair "Of course Сын." the hero promised and had him close as the hero quickly sneaked around the other heroes who were fighting the villains who must've broken the floor.
The way the hero easily avoided the fighting was amazing and it wasn't long before the hero found a large lizard person and called out to them "Hey over here! Masao-San, we need to get this Дитя out of here." the hero instructed offering Ramprasad over to the large lizard.
The lizard stared at the hero "What child?" the lizard asked, and the hero seemed just as stunned as he was, was his quirk still active and hiding him from the lizard? But if it was how could the hero see him? Did the hero have a quirk that let him see past quirks that hid people? That was so cool.
The hero glanced down at him and for a brief second Ramprasad was worried the hero wouldn't see he anymore, but the hero's green eyes immediately locked on his with no problems, then the hero got an idea of some kind as he set Ramprasad down and reached into his bag then clamped some kind of bracelet on his wrist "Ow!" he yelled feeling something inside jab him.
The lizard guy sharply inhaled and was staring at him like Ramprasad "The boy has a passive total obliviousness quirk of some kind," the hero mused then turned back to the lizard "Masao-San I trust you can get this Дитя back to his dad unharmed while I keep looking for others right?" the hero asked the lizard nodded "Good and don't forget to warn the father not to take off the quirk cuff until they take the kid to a specialist." the hero instructed.
Then the hero turned back to him and ruffled his hair "I'm afraid we have to part ways Сынок, my friend Masao-San will make sure your safe, just make sure to keep your bracelet on no matter what okay?" the hero asked and Ramprasad nodded, if this super awesome hero said he needed the bracelet, then he'd keep it on no matter what.
The lizard gently scooped him up in his arms and proceeded to run off, Ramprasad tried to look over the lizard person's shoulder, but he wasn't big enough and before he knew it they were outside the mall, the lizard person poked their blue tongue out then moved through the crowd, only stopping to poke their tongue out again.
Then he saw his dad yelling at some police about wanting to go back inside "Dad!" he called, and his dad stopped and turned towards them "Ramprasad!" his dad cried immediately rushing over and taking him from the lizard person's arms hugging him close "Ramprasad, I was so worried. Where did you go? I told you not to run off-" his dad started to say but he cut him off "I didn't! I got my quirk!"
His dad blinked surprised and opened his mouth, but Ramprasad continued "A deaf kid bumped into me at the fountain and I tried to get him to apologize but then I saw he didn't see me until I dropped my keychain, I thought I got mom's and went to get you but you didn't hear me either and ran off." Ramprasad finished tearing up.
His dad quickly and repeatedly apologized to him "It's okay dad, this really cool hero helped me and gave me this cool bracelet so people could see me again." Ramprasad told him raising his arm so his dad could see it.
"It's a quirk band, your son ran into a quirk counselor I know and he always keeps a couple on his person in case something like this happens. He said your son shouldn't take off the band until you get your son to a specialist to help with his quirk." the lizard person explained.
"Yes, of course. Thank you so much and thank you for bringing my son back to me." his dad replied bowing slightly but the lizard person shrugged back "It's what anyone would do." they said back before walking away.
That had been Ramprasad's first time meeting a hero and even as he was being fussed over by his dad and a pair ambulance workers he couldn't get that green haired hero out of his mind, and Ramprasad decided that he was going to become a hero just like him, he had always considered being a hero but now he knew what heroes did and he wanted to use his quirk to help people just like the green haired hero had helped him.
Shigaraki huffed as he placed his head in his hand.
Once again, his attempt to gain a useful little quirk had been thwarted.
Varman Ramprasad, a young boy he'd been keeping an eye on since he landed on the island given the likely combination of his parents' quirks would create a powerful camouflage quirk, and according to his spies the boy had indeed gotten such a quirk.
So, he ordered some of his nearby followers' attack on the mall so the person following the boy could take the boy in the chaos, a perfect plan that had been incredibly reliable for decades now... the only flaw in this plan was that he did not account for just how strong the boy's camouflage truly was and his people couldn't find the boy until it was too late.
The boy had been rescued at some point and his people only found him later already back with his father and about to board an emergency flight back home well out of his grasp, a fact that made him scowl.
The strength of Ramprasad's quirk was an oversight but he had plenty of people watching the airports for anyone of interest coming or going and he should not have been informed of the boy's departure well past the point he could interfere with it.
He'd need to remind his little network that they would need to be more diligent.
This was the fourth time a lovely little quirk had escaped his grasp, and this could not stand.
However, the blame did not fall solely onto his followers' incompetents, in the last couple of years a small pest had come to be biting off too much power than they could chew for his liking.
Deku-Sensei was not the first person to appear and unknowingly mess with some of his plans.
It was an occupational hazard of decades-long ideas that a child could be born that would upend them and he'd correct them as accordingly, regardless of if they were a "threat" like this Deku or a boon in the long run like his little Tomura.
Some of those people had made a name for themselves like Deku had and normally he'd leave them to their own devices since these people always ended up doing one of two things when they worked in his circles.
Either they got so involved they'd eventually end up working under him and all of their power fell under his influence, or they would burn themselves out like a bright but brief shooting star upon reaching the "big" leagues.
Deku had done neither of these things and if anything, he thrived where his predecessors failed and at this point the nuisance was affecting some of his grander plans that had been in the works for the past century.
It seemed that in his complacency with past interlopers' failures he allowed the pest to flourish when he should have crushed the tick much earlier, such was the nature of hindsight he supposed.
No matter, this Deku wasn't a true threat to him, merely an inconvenience that would need a touch more care than most.
He'd have to give the pest credit where due though, Deku had made some impressive connections in the short lifespan he started his work and protective ones at that, he hadn't found much on Deku other than what he did and a gender.
Any time his people tried to bring in a Vespa that would have the info he needed the lupus would off themselves before they could get anything useful.
And Shigaraki still had no idea just what Deku had done to guarantee complete loyalty from Morozov of all people, he had been trying to open trade and communication with the man for well over a century now but the Russian had stubbornly refused him any access to Russia and killed the few of his followers that got past the man's impressive defenses, he suspected Deku might have a familial relationship though since Morozov's higher tier men also killed themselves to protect this Deku.
If Deku continued to grow at the rate, he would become something that Shigaraki would have to do something about the situation and kill the pest himself but he doubted that would ever happen… currently Deku's only interest seemed to be in improving others quirks and gaining more territory and connections to do that.
Neither things Shigaraki was directly opposed to, and he'd be more than happy to add the little twerp, having someone so charismatic would be a boon to his ranks and he'd like to know just what kind of quirk this Deku had to make him so successful in his endeavors.
The doctor had been a nice boon he collected years ago and had made himself more than useful beyond the main reason he recruited him for, and he was sure this Deku might be at least as useful, the doctor would love to have another mind to bounce ideas off of he was sure, and perhaps if Deku was young enough make a good playmate to keep Tomura occupied time to time.
But for now, he had more important matters that required his attention and unless this Deku made a bigger fuss than he already has Shigaraki would simply leave Deku's capture and possible recruitment to his underlings for now.
