"Well then, now that is sorted, I believe it is high time that we introduce ourselves to Midoriya-San." Nezu told them with a soft clap of his paws "Midoriya-San has already been introduced to myself so let us start with Maijima-San and go around the table from there." Nezu suggested turning towards the man on the other side of him, which happened to be Power-Loader.
The man startled a bit at being forced into the spotlight and fumbled a bit as he stood up to do as Nezu requested, clearing his throat "I'm Maijima Higari, I'm also known better as the Excavation hero: Power-Loader. I am the head of the Support course and I'll be overseeing home room for 1-G this year." the man said.
Izuku hummed, a finger on his chin "Lovely to meet you, would you prefer for me to use your codename or not in front of students?" Izuku said back, assuming that it was mandatory to reveal your legal name and identity to the rest of the staff at U.A.
Power-Loader blinked underneath his helmet "Ah, Maijima will be fine Midoriya-San." the man answered and Izuku nodded.
"Alright Maijima-San, you said you'll be 1-G's homeroom teacher this year, do you switch home room classes often?" Izuku politely inquired trying to not show how giddy he was at being able to call a hero he liked by name.
"Yes, Midoriya-San. As the head of the department I switch between teaching the first year support homeroom classes to prevent favoritism, as do all of the course heads." Maijima-San explained.
"I see, thank you Maijima-San." Izuku replied then turned his gaze to Hound Dog sitting next to Maijima-San, who took that as his queue to speak, though he put a hand on Maijima-San's shoulder before Maijima-San realized he should sit down again.
"I'm Inui Ryo, the Hound hero: Hound Dog. I'm the head counselor for the hero course, I'd prefer my hero name during school hours. If you have any concerns about the students mentally, do come to speak to me as soon as possible." Inui-San introduced himself along with his preferred name having picked up on the question.
Izuku nodded turning again to the next person, Para-Dome "Chuumoku Kikan, formally known in the hero community as the Mad-eyed hero: Para-Dome. I am 1-H's home room teacher for the year but my focus is programming. We'll talk if you need to request something for your students since I'm in charge of one of the two gear-nuts classes." they told him.
"And would you prefer your codename around the students?" Izuku inquired.
"Only when I'm in costume, Chu-San if I'm not. I'm trying to boost their observational skills, most gear-nuts get too wrapped up in their work to notice such things, which will be a problem down the line." they explained with a wave of their hand.
"Of course Chu-San." Izuku agreed.
Not waiting for anyone to prompt her Midnight stood up cocking her hip to the side with her hands on her hips "Kayama Nemuri, The R-Rated hero: Midnight. Art History for heroics and currently 1-I's home room teacher, and I'm fine with whatever you want to call me.~" she proclaimed with a flirtatious wink.
Her hypersexuality likely would've flustered him to death by this point however the blow was greatly softened by his work with Raven and her girls "As you wish Kayama-San." Izuku told her and his eyes nervously settled onto Eraserhead.
The man stared back at Izuku and Izuku felt the need to hide in his scarf again but he knew better then to do that so he awkwardly kept staring back at the man, Eraserhead broke first and slumped in his chair rubbing the bridge of his nose, the man let out a bone weary sigh then started to speak "My name is Aizawa Shouta and I am-"
"The Erasure hero: Eraserhead," Izuku couldn't help interrupting and blushed quickly hiding his face with his scarf "S-sorry. My students speak very highly of you." Izuku apologized sorely hoping for one of Kurogiri's portals to swallow him up now.
Eraserhead's eye twitched "I'm an underground hero, people aren't supposed to know about me." Eraserhead flatly replied quite good at masking his irritation from Izuku's experience.
"Well yes, but red-lights are very tight knit communities, and people talk when a hero actually patrols the district instead of skirting it like most do... plus it would be hard to completely squash you're presence given you've physically taken people down." Izuku explained with a half-truth.
No one here needed to know of how desperately he searched underground hero forums for a hero that could have possibly been a two-toes, that he silently wished to run into the man to ask him if he could've had a chance in heroics however small it would've been for years, or how he nearly lost his mind when his students in Yaizu started giving him candid shots of Eraserhead when they realized he loved the hero.
Eraserhead really didn't need to know about that last one given how much the man was scowling at him.
"I suppose," Eraserhead gruffly replied "And as I was going to say, I am the social studies and ethics teacher for the hero course in addition to being 1-B's home room teacher for the foreseeable future. Aizawa-San during school hours." Erase- Aizawa-San told him.
"Understood Aizawa-San." Izuku said forcing down his giddiness at being able to use his favorite hero's real name regularly.
Present Mic, in an attempt to disrupt whatever energy had fallen on the room by standing up and giving Izuku the all but officially trademarked double finger guns "Heya little listener! English and 1-K's home room teacher is my jam, name's Yamada Hizashi but just call me Present Mic around the kiddos 'mkay?" Yamada-san said with the same flare Izuku would expect from the man's radio show.
Izuku despite himself snorted and returned the gesture with a smile "No problem Yamada-San." he playfully responded in English, surprising the man but he beamed back at Izuku.
"You speak English too little listener?" Yamada asked and Izuku shrugged.
"Yeah, you tend to pick up bits and pieces of other languages when you spend so long in the districts. I'm fluent in English, Russian, Italian, French, and German. I'm almost fluent in Chinese and Spanish, and I'm thinking of finally getting around to picking up Korean and Scottish." Izuku answered "Oh, and that's not counting sign language, I know the five most commonly used variations plus ASL and RSL, though I only have a certificate for JSL." Izuku added after he thought about it for a second.
However it might've been a bit too much for Yamada to comprehend since Izuku could practically see the smoke coming out of the man ears as he tried to process that.
Hara-San who was next since she was on the other side of Yamada cleared her throat and pushed her glasses up her nose "I am Himawari Hara, I'm the head of the business course and teach risk management and statistics in addition to being the home room teacher of 1-J this year, Hara-San during school hours." she listlessly explained without any hint of emotion.
Izuku afforded the woman a polite nod and moved his gaze over to Killer Automotive on the other side of Hara-San.
"Yogi Noburu, was the Auto-Pilot hero: Killer Automotive. I teach Biology, head of the general course so if you're looking to transfer someone up you'll have to talk to me first, 1-E is my home room and I'm retired so you better not call me by my codename, it's Yogi, boy." Killer Automotive gruffly informed.
"Naturally Yogi-San." Izuku replied politely bowing his head to the man, and the introductions didn't stray far from that, the person would sometimes stand up when they introduced themselves or remain seated if they were quite tall.
-Kan Sekijiro, the Blood hero: Vlad King, Heroics teacher.
The man was respectfully enough despite Masao-San's comments about him encouraging a rivalry between hero classes, his family name was preferred.
-O toko Kojima, the Duplication hero: Ectoplasm, math/1-C's home room teacher.
A quiet man who requested for his hero name to be used at all times, or the nick name Ecto.
-Baki Miura, the Over-Growth hero: General Clique, P.E/1-D's home room teacher.
The room was surprised and not when Izuku didn't need anyone to translate for Baki, he said to use his codename with the students.
-Genji Maqsud, the Bull-Hide hero: Snipe, Third years weapons instructor/3-B's home room teacher.
Izuku was so glad he didn't use the bandana Awa-Kun gave him to keep his hair in check, the man was a touch more nervous speaking and requested his codename around the students as well.
-Ishiyama Ken, the Constructed hero: Cementoss, Literature/1-F's home room teacher.
Another calm type and he also requested for his codename to be used and Izuku supposed that line of thinking made sense given there were more active heroes on staff than retired ones.
-Haruki Wakana, a retired auxiliary hero: Cherry-Bomb, Home Ec/3-A's home room teacher.
Izuku was surprised but delighted to see the woman here, she was much more sedate than the video of her work years ago would suggest, either name was fine with her.
-Sano Taiki, the only other non-hero in the room, Science/2-B's home room teacher.
A painfully plain man that would've made Izuku question if he was quirkless as well if his eyes didn't change color every so often.
There weren't any hang ups until Recovery Girl's turn "I'm Shuzenji Chiyo, the Youthful heroine: Recoverary Girl. I am the school nurse and I expect you to keep your class from tearing itself apart, Recoverary Girl in front of the students." She sternly warned waving her cane, the only part he could see of the woman around Bullet Jacker and Master-Mind.
Izuku frowned at that and blinked raising an eye "Shuzenji-San beg my pardon, but you said 'the' nurse? As in the only nurse employed here?" Izuku inquired.
Shuzenji huffed "Indeed, Midoriya-San." she answered.
Izuku stared at the woman for a second then took a very deep breath and turned to Nezu "Nezu, please tell me that you have plans on hiring more staff for the nurse's office." Izuku said.
Nezu ears drooped "I've been requesting the board to allow me to, however they have yet to agree given we employ such a powerful healer." Nezu explained and Izuku tsked rolling his eyes.
"While I mean no ill will, or doubt Shuzenji-San's skills, I don't need an intelligence quirk to understand that relying on a single 78 year-old woman alone to treat 120 hero students activitally sparring and practicing dangerous scenarios, is beyond optimistic." Izuku spat.
"Much less the additional 180 Support course students working daily with volatile chemicals and materials that undoubtedly come in regularly for the expected cuts, bruises, and burns. Or the other 360 students and staff, six days a week for every single term is just asking for the woman to croak from the stress it all." Izuku pointedly added.
"I understand that perfectly well Midoriya-San, perhaps you'd assist me in convincing the board at the next meeting? I'm sure the numbers you could provide would be most helpful." Nezu requested, surprising most of the room.
"So long as you don't tell them a quirkless person wrote it, an email should be enough to convince them." Izuku answered texting Riya to put together a decent sized graph for the simpletons on the board, Izuku got the feeling he was going to really not like the people on it.
A soft ahem brought Izuku back to the room around him and he turned to face Master-Mind who was on the other side of Bullet Jacker and was now leaning over so Izuku could see him again.
"I am Himawari Isamu, formerly known as the Evil-eyed hero: Master-Mind. I'm the rescue instructor and teach 2-A's home room. I would prefer to be called Master in front of the students Midoriya-San, and given how often we shall be working together, is there a preferred name you'd like us to use around the students as well?" Master-Mind inquired taking Izuku aback.
"Ah, hm. I haven't really thought about it but if possible I'd greatly prefer you to use my alias if possible, I'm quite used to the name and I'm afraid I might not react right away if you were to use my family name in a teaching setting, though given the meaning of the word I don't mind if you'd use my name." Izuku answered after giving it some thought.
"Of course, Midoriya-San." Master-Mind replied politely bowing his head to Izuku before leaning back on his chair.
And last but not least the tall woman on Izuku's other side turned to him, her face indifferent to him "Ito Karin, the High-jacking hero: Bullet Jacker. Head of Heroics, Quirk Theory and Practice and 1-A's home room teacher. Bullet in front of students, I'll be the one you're replacing." the woman flatly told him crossing her arms.
Izuku bowed to her "I hope to learn what I need to during our short time together Ito-San, and keep our students from killing themselves if nothing else." Izuku politely told her, he held a great deal of respect for the woman, she was one of the few surviving albeit retired heroes from before All Might.
Bullet Jacker tsked "That would be the minimum to expect out of you given how many degrees you have you lout." she huffily told him, in false annoyance.
Izuku had been around the Bakugous and enough "tough guys" to know the difference by heart.
"Now that we all know each other, as I explained to you all yesterday, Midoriya-San will be spending his first year as Ito-San's teaching assistant for her last year, after which he will be taking over as the QT&P teacher and 1-A's home room teacher for the foreseeable future." Nezu reiterated.
"Given he cannot be expected to also be the new head of the department the Heroics course home teachers and Heroics instructor will all have to come together and vote on any changes until a suitable replacement is hired or promoted." Nezu explained.
"Now are there any questions before we move on to discussing the student accommodations and the last minute curriculum adjustments?" Nezu inquired.
A few people looked at each other but only Ectoplasm was brave enough to raise his hand "Will Midoriya-San require a ride to and from home once school hours begin in earnest?" O toko asked, quite genuine and not meaning to be patronizing.
"No O toko-San, I have a car of my own and a license." Izuku assured him.
"Great, then I believe it is time to discuss our school coursework no?" Nezu cheerfully exclaimed.
