"Speaking of the successor, have any of you found some candidates?" Nezu asked with a clap of his paws "How about you Shuzenji-San?" Nezu asked.
He successfully redirected all of the attention to Shuzenji-San, Izuku's included after he gave a small nod to him in thanks.
"Unfortunately, finding someone has proven more difficult in practice." Shuzenji-San admitted, her eyes pointed focused on the door and her lips pursed.
"Quite understandable, how about you Yagi-San? Were you and Torino-San able to find one? Or perhaps some new insight for finding someone after speaking with the past wielders?" Nezu inquired to keep the meeting moving.
"Like Chiyo said, finding someone ain't been easy, had a few kids in mind but quirks are the problem." Torino grumbled.
"What quirks do they have?" Izuku asked.
"Well one kid has an intelligence quirk," Torino answered, Izuku frowned.
"Not a good match then, intelligence quirks come with more 'space' if you will, but their brains become more delicate and easier to overwhelm when energy quirks are introduced and would melt when given Inheritance." Izuku told the man.
"One of All For One's experiments?" Sir said with a tone that indicated he was rolling his eyes on the inside.
Nezu's tail might have flicked to the side on impulse but aside from Izuku Nezu was sure no one else caught the action.
"Yes." Izuku answered flatly, staring directly at Sir with a deadpan, making the man squirm in his seat.
Good.
"Then half the kids I found are out of the running." Torino said shaking his head.
"And the other half?" Izuku asked.
"Too high profile, but if it comes down to it, we might be able to get by if the past holders shut their quirks down." Torino replied pulling out some files and offering them.
Izuku took one and handed him the other, his friend already skimming through the file, the boy sighed a moment later.
"I'm sorry to say that we won't be able to use anyone on this list Torino-San." Izuku forlornly said collapsing back on the couch.
"Why not?" Torino questioned, not a pointed tone in his voice but the man was still miffed.
"Because I've looked into these people too, half are already on All For One's radar and he'll know right away if we approach them, two are a part of the MLA and the last three would have their brains melted if given Inheritance like the intelligence quirked people." Izuku said, placing the file down.
His friend's lips pursed with his displeasure with not finding a... more agreeable successor candidate.
"The other wielders would like to know how you know who's on All For One's radar?" Yagi asked, slightly uncomfortable for whatever reason.
Perhaps the other users were not the best company Nezu mused.
"I do have connections in the underworld if you'd recall, and the Vespas are very well informed of who's in All For One's pocket and who isn't, and he has men keeping an eye on people with interesting quirks, people like these." Izuku explained.
Sir scowled at the boy, raising Nezu's hackles some but he repressed the urge and successfully kept his fur from puffing up.
"Alright then I guess me, and the Zygote don't have anyone." Torino grumbled, frustrated.
"While I wasn't able to find someone, Hikage, the fourth, did suggest looking to quirkless from another country, somewhere like Switzerland." Yagi brought up.
Nezu turned that thought over in his mind.
Indeed, a two-toes from a non-quirk majority country would certainly be a worthy choice.
They would have a better mental attitude and it would be easier to find someone that had not starved as a child, and so a better body structure as well.
However...
"It's a nice idea in practice Hikage but I'm afraid it wouldn't be advisable." Izuku told the man.
"Why? It would be more reasonable than giving it to a child." Shuzenji-San spat.
"Even if we could find someone perfect in another country, it wouldn't make them safer from All For One's men, outside of Russia All For One has the ability to send people anywhere, mainly to grab 'useful' quirks when they pop up." Izuku explained.
"Kurogiri's been used to bring said people back, and there would of course be the normal disconnection that would come from distance, which means if something goes wrong, we'd be a world away. And before you suggest Yagi-San going to another country and finding someone All For One would pay even more attention if he settled in another country, do I need to explain the problems that could occur there?" Izuku asked pinching the bridge of his nose.
"What if we brought them here?" Sir suggested.
"Same problem as Yagi moving, having someone quirkless moving here would draw attention and unlike the population here they would be unprepared for the extreme quirkism they would face here. There would also be the problem of how to keep them close without raising suspicion from the general public." Nezu pointed out.
His words hopefully gave more credence to his friend's point.
"And the last we need is the ninth being exposed to the world or All For One before they're ready." Izuku added.
Yagi sighed, putting his head in his hand.
"What about you then Midoriya? Have you found someone that would be fitting?" Sir snidely asked.
Nezu held back from flicking his tail or folding his ears back over Sir's bitter tone.
He was growing less and less fond of the man with each interaction with him.
His friend sighed "I've found two people that could possibly hold Inheritance." Izuku admitted.
"Who?" Haruki-San inquired kindly.
Izuku pulled out two folders with a frown on his face as he placed them on the table, two familiar faces on the photos.
"As much as I hate to consider it, two of our second years would be prime candidates due to their quirks being able not only to handle the stress of carrying Inheritance but could reasonably hide the additional quirks as a part of their own birth quirks." Izuku told the room.
Sir frowned at the pictures, like they insulted him.
Nezu made note of the reaction, especially since being insulted should not be the first one to prospects even if he had his own.
Shuzenji-San scowled at them, Yagi stared at them blankly, the man likely not remembering them and Torino only looked like he faintly recalled the two pictures but could not place them.
Nezu himself was interested and wanted to hear Izuku rationale for picking these two students.
Haruki-San picked one of the files and tilted her head very slightly.
"Why these two?" she asked gently.
"The one your holding is for Amajiki Tamaki, and he is our best candidate physically speaking due to his quirk: Manifest being able to completely nullify the most dangerous part taking Inheritance." Izuku explained and Sir scowled.
"If I recall, Amajiki's quirk gives him the ability to modify his body to take on the traits of the things he eats, not prevent brain damage." Sir pointed out, likely information he knew of from taking Togata-Kun in an intern.
Izuku took out another paper and handed it to Sir.
"This is a list of animals with the ability to regrow damaged brain tissue, sponges in particularly can be blended and shrug it off, by eating a continuous diet of such animals' multiple times a day along with animals like Tardigrades that can survive in the vacuum of space Amajiki would likely never suffer from brain damage caused by the quirk." Izuku countered before sitting back down.
"That is if he needs to eat such a diet in the first place." Izuku commented.
"What do you mean?" Haruki-San asked putting Amajiki's file back down.
"Amajiki's been trying to hide it but Manifest is genetics-based copy quirk, a quirk in a very similar vein as Inheritance and All For One's quirk, though his is rooted in consumption instead of touch." Izuku answered causally.
Yagi's mouth fell open, and both Sir and Torino looked startled by this news.
"Midoriya-San, please clarify." Shuzenji-San requested sternly.
"Amajiki, can re-write his entire genetic structure down to his very DNA based on what he's eaten through his quirk until the item is fully digested, and this includes the quirks of others, in his file are magnified pictures of samples I've collected from when Amajiki copied both Miyake and Ozwald's quirks." Izuku informed them.
"You will find that compared to the photos of Miyake and Oswald's samples there is almost no difference, I'd need to have Amajiki test a non-mutant quirk to be fully certain but there is a good chance that Amajiki's body comes equipped to naturally adapt to new genetic information for as long as it remains in his system." Izuku theorized.
"So, when he consumes some of Yagi-San's blood to take Inheritance," Izuku led.
"There will be a good chance that his body will adapt to handle different quirks on its own and remain so because it would bond to his DNA permanently." Nezu finished for his friend, Izuku nodded.
"And if it doesn't, we'll have a completely feasible treatment plan to prevent brain damage." Nezu said approvingly, having two ways to protect the boy's mind from the damage Inheritance could cause compared to any of the people he had been looking into.
"In truth the only thing holding Amajiki back from being the perfect candidate is his severe anxiety and lack of confidence, which could make him a rather easy target." Izuku conceded.
Nezu nodded, the boy was less likely to handle the mental stress of taking the quirk.
Torino looked over the boy's file with another once over before his eyes went over to the other file.
"And the girl?" Torino asked, his eyes turning back to Izuku.
"She's Hado Nejire, her quirk's called Wave Motion, and she's currently speaking the best opinion we currently have at the moment. Both in personality, physically and quirk wise." Izuku told the man.
"Why? I remember she has an energy quirk from last year's festival, does it come with some kind of healing part?" Torino questioned.
Izuku remained silent for a moment.
Nezu sniffed slightly, smelling a touch of sadness and resignation from his friend and grew more concerned.
"In a manner of speaking... not quite." Izuku responded.
Torino frowned "What's that supposed to mean, Kid?" Torino pressed.
"Midoriya." his friend spat back, agitated as he ran a hand through his hair, taking a deep breath.
"Hado is a third generation, her grandmother being the first and Hado is currently pending review for joining the list of the semi-immortal quirked people in the known history of Japan, her grandmother is already on that list." Izuku told the group.
Silence over taking the room.
Everyone, including Yagi understanding the importance of such a fact, to even be considered for such a list was no simple matter and most would understand what such a fact meant.
"You're sure?" Haruki-San quietly asked.
Izuku nodded "I had suspected... I had the Vespas confirm it." he softly explained, then he went on to further elaborate the truth of Hado's quirk.
Something that would be very much needed since semi-immortals always had their quirks covered up when they were young.
"Hado's quirk, much like her grandmother's, is powered by converting the ambient energy made before and during the process of entropy and turning it into stamina, starting with their own body's entropy and subsequently slowing their aging as they get older until the point, they basically seem to stop aging." Izuku told the group.
"Hado's grandmother is 214 and only looks to be in her mid-thirties because she used quirk blockers to age past her twenties, Hado's quirk is already slowing her aging and without blockers she's expected to fully stop in a year or two since by all accounts her quirk is stronger than her grandmother's." Izuku detailed sadly.
"So, if we give her One For All," Yagi started trailing off.
"Then her quirk will take a lot of the energy out of the damage but not enough that it won't affect her, shortening her life to a fraction of what it would be naturally, which according to my current notes Inheritance would take roughly... two-hundred years to start affecting in the ways it did for the other users." Izuku said and a few mouths fell open.
"Two-Hundred years?" Yagi sputtered.
"Yes, Hado's grandmother is currently believed to live long enough to see the 4400th century unless she has an accident, and Hado's expected to live much longer than that since her quirk is stronger, and she hasn't used a quirk blocker to artificially shorten her life." Izuku stated sadly.
"That's... " Torino started to say only to be unable to finish his sentence.
To be fair, Nezu was not sure what one could say in the face of something so monolithic.
He could not imagine what the world would look like ten years from now, much less so many millennia from now. Hado would watch the beginnings of many eras and would likely live to see humanities' first steps onto other planets... if not the colonization of said other planets and the neighboring galaxies.
But more importantly, unless she had children with the same quirk, she would be alone for most of that, all of the people she cared for would be gone in the blink of an eye.
Nezu allowed his ears to lower at the thought of it.
The poor girl, it was no wonder she clung to her friends and was trying to make so many memories with them.
Izuku cleared his throat, bringing attention back to him.
"In addition to her lifespan, Hado's quirk has also given her the tools necessary to safely wield Inheritance as managing her own energy quirk has taught her how to control how much she outputs, and the best cover story for her 'new' abilities with her quirk." Izuku explained.
"Hado is already working on a way to hover in the air and fly with her energy spirals so no one would bat an eye if she used Float. Black whip a different way to output energy and make it solid like her already seen energy coils, Smokescreen her creating literal storm clouds with the 'help' of pellets used for making clouds." Izuku listed.
"Danger sense and Inheritance can't be seen, Fa Jin, the strength enhancer and Gearshift explained by reinforcing her body by focusing her energy within herself." Izuku further detailed the cover story that would cover up the abilities she would gain.
"Physically she's already very fit and from the calculations I've done she'd only need some regular training and be ready to take Inheritance by the end of the semester and have the break between the beginning of her third year to get used to her new abilities under our careful watch before coming back to school." Izuku said pulling out a training program he had already made for the girl.
"And mentally speaking, I don't think there's anyone I'd trust more with Inheritance, even though she knows how little time she has with people she tries to make the most of it and is going to devote her life to helping people." Izuku told the group.
Then Izuku glanced around the room.
"Well? Any reason you'd think either of them would not be good candidates?" Izuku asked them.

2nd: Not a bad idea but what about his sleep schedule? It would get in the way and we might kill him in his sleep
Bruce the 3rd hums: Not necessarily, he could sleep multiple times a day like we did, sleep a couple of hours then stay awake for four before his next nap
2nd just hums again conceding the point.
Izuku drops the bomb of Hado and her extended life span.
Everyone:...
