Hikage sighed as he gently placed his hands on the shade of Amajiki, correcting the boy's stance by two inches.
"Here Amajiki, we are going to try throwing a punch this time. And remember nothing more than half of a percent then spread it all over like you would with your scales." Hikage instructed stepping away and carefully watching the boy's shade.
He could still feel Amajiki's nerves through their shared unconsciousness, not that he could blame the boy since the last time he tried their strength Amajiki had could have lost his hand had the boy not reacted quickly enough.
"Now, Amajiki, we are going to bring our strength to the surface, think you're ready to try?" Hikage asked.
Amajiki's eyes went over to Aizawa, the man there just in case and while Hikage would hate being cut off so suddenly Amajiki's health was worth the discomfort.
Amajiki nodded.
"Alright Amajiki, just like how you found the pulse of Float we are going to find the pulse of our strength. You'll feel it deep within your skin moving right along your veins with Blackwhip, Float and all of the other quirks." Hikage said.
As Amajiki's sight went away Hikage knew the boy closed his eyes to gather himself.
Watching as the boy began to search for their strength.
His shade started to glow with the power of their shared quirks, it was faint since it wasn't even a whole percent of the large stockpile, but the patterns were easy to see on such a darkly colored shade body.
Flashes of different colors as he moved from Float to Blackwhip until his finally grasped their strength.
"That's the one Amajiki, you found it, don't try to grab it yet. Just try to get familiar with it for the next few minutes." Hikage told the boy "Get used to how it feels under your skin." Hikage commented.
Amajiki gulped, nodding his head just slightly.
"It's a lot isn't it, when I first started to try and use it my quirk always gave me a lot of headaches." Hikage said feeling Amajiki's nerves rising again.
"Sorry about that by the way, I know how bad my quirk can feel so don't tell me it's not a big hassle, I know it is." Hikage apologized to the boy.
"Then when you think you are ready to, I want you to just pull a single drop away from the mass and let it wash through you all over. Head to toe, until you feel it in all parts of you." Hikage instructed the boy.
Amajiki's shade slowly filled with the colors of their strength.
"Okay, how do you feel having this much of it? Does it make your chest feel tight?" Hikage asked.
Amajiki shook his head.
"That's good. Now Amajiki, I want you to bring your fist back and punch the bag in front of you." Hikage told the boy.
Amajiki opening his eyes and slowly moved to punch the bag without taking too much or losing control of their strength.
Amajiki punched the bag in front of him, making the bag swing wildly away from him and he even caught the bag when it came back at him, Amajiki's concentration breaking but there was no flare of Hikage's birth quirk.
"Good, good. You did great and my quirk didn't ping even once." Hikage praised, resting his hand on Amajiki's shade shoulder.
Glad to feel some of Amajiki's tension fading since he successfully used the strength quirk now.
"Amajiki." Aizawa called walking over to them "Show me your hand." Aizawa requested holding his hand out to the boy.
Amajiki complied and gave the hand he used over to the man; Aizawa then carefully examined Amajiki's hand for any breaks, pressing into the palm and fingers to check for any pain in his hand.
"Any tenderness Amajiki?" Aizawa asked.
"No Aizawa-Sensei." Amajiki answered.
"Okay, are you going to continue punching the bag?" Aizawa questioned.
Amajiki fell silent likely waiting for Hikage's answer.
"No, now that you've successfully used it like this, I want you to try and walk a few laps with the single half of a percent, to get you used to moving around without breaking your concentration or drawing too much." Hikage informed the boy.
"No, Hikage-San wants me to get used to moving with it." Amajiki relayed for him.
Aizawa nodded.
"Walking or running?" Aizawa inquired.
"Walking, we aren't going to try running for a while, once we work you up to three percent we can try running with one percent." Hikage told the boy, Amajiki telling Aizawa his answer.
"Smart plan, glad one of the voices in your head is a smart one." Aizawa commented.
"Less smart and more experienced, I had a mental quirk, and my body needed to completely rebuild itself to handle our strength, and the strength we have currently is much larger than what I was dealing with." Hikage responded as Amajiki followed Aizawa to somewhere else where they could walk around safely.
"And I can understand how scary learning to use this, so I know how strong you're being right now Amajiki." Hikage assured the boy, placing his hand on Amajiki's shade shoulder again.
Hikage's need to comfort and assure the boy had come naturally, he felt a bit of kinship with the boy.
His quirk having come with a great deal with anxiety and at times paranoia along with his quirk that would be pinged whenever something like a paperclip would be flung at him.
It had mostly gone now that he died, and his mind could be disconnected from his quirk's influences, but he remembered what it was like.
Hard not to when he spent the majority of his life trapped in it, even if it helped him stay alive in the last leg of his life.
At least he hadn't gone off the deep end so far and wasn't trying to claim Amajiki as family in some way like Nana had.
Speaking of Hikage looked up and over to where Hado's shade was, Bruce helping her he could see the glow of their strength most likely Hado was already walking around judging from how her shade was moving.
Bruce was probably the only other person that would be able to train the ninths, Hado having a similar birth quirk helped of course but Bruce had more experience in keeping the percentage at a specific level.
Then he turned back to Amajiki the boy and Aizawa having made it to an indoor gym.
"Alright, do you want to do a lap first without Inheritance Amajiki?" Aizawa questioned once they were at the starting line.
Amajiki paused unsubtly looking in his 'direction'.
"It would be best to stretch first then do a warmup lap without our strength." Hikage told the boy, knowing it was better to tell Amajiki what he should do instead of letting the boy fumble with his overactive thoughts.
He wished someone would help him by just telling him what he needed to do, he knew a lot of people that had a similar wish of wanting some kind of guide that would just tell him what he needed to do.
"Do you remember the stretches that Midoriya had you do before training? You're going to do those again then we'll do your lap without our strength first." Hikage instructed.
Amajiki nodded, telling Aizawa about the current plan of action and then the two of them began their stretches.
Hikage silently watching on, slightly curious when Aizawa walked with Amajiki for the first lap.
And continued to walk with Amajiki after he began to slowly walk with their strength carefully thrumming through his body.
Aizawa didn't have to, he'd be able to use his quirk from anywhere in the gym.
Hey Jiki, how are you doing over there?*Hado asked, her voice echoing throughout the mind space.
"He's doing alright Hado, currently working on walking with our strength." Hikage answered for the boy so Amajiki could stay focused on what he was doing and not lose his grip on the percentage.
Do you want me to come over? We're doing the same thing over here.*Hado offered.
Hikage carefully looked over Amajiki then isolated himself from Hado's perception "Would you feel better if Hado was here?" he asked quietly.
Amajiki's feelings bunched up, Amajiki swallowed then shook his head guilt rising somewhat.
Hikage squeezed the shoulder of Amajiki's shade "You're not wrong for how you feel kid, and just because you share a quirk now or are friends does not mean you need to share everything." Hikage assured the boy before reconnecting himself to Hado.
"No, I don't want to risk either of you losing concentration while training our strength, thanks for the offer though Hado." Hikage told the girl.
Okay, I'm sure you'll do your best Jiki, especially with Oji-Hikage there with you.*Hado replied.
"Woah, woah, woah. You are not dragging me into this family drama that Nana started." Hikage protested pointing at Hado's shade even though he knew she wouldn't be able to see it.
"Weren't you the one that told Yagi there was no point in fighting them?" Youchi pointed out with a smug grin.
Hikage glared back at him.
"I am not the one that had a feral eldritch child that was forcibly adopted by an equally unhinged woman trying to pull a batman on all of us." Hikage spat back pointing an accusing finger back at Youchi.
Youchi huffed rolling his eyes as En came over to stand by Youchi's side.
"Should we make a group name for ourselves like the batfam?" En inquired looking to Youchi as the resident comic hero expert.
Youchi looked caught between wanting a cool little nickname and encouraging Nana's adoption habit.
Hikage groaned and ruffled Amajiki's hair "Amajiki I am so sorry that you had to be a part of this failing brain trust." Hikage told the boy, knowing this conversation was one of many that probably overwhelming the boy.
And yes, Amajiki did feel more embarrassed and flustered by their conversation, but then Amajiki surprisingly spoke up.
"I'll get used to it... one day, for Oneesan." the boy muttered quietly, bringing their attention to Amajiki.
"I won't let Oneesan go through this alone." Amajiki stated a bit more firmly.
Hikage was only able to briefly catch Aizawa's confused face before Hado's mind practically screamed with her excitement, she released her grasp on their strength and immediately jumped at the nearest person.
Which unfortunately happened to be Youchi's eldritch child.
"It's happened! Jiki's said he's my Otoutosan!" Hado squealed in the real world and the Mindspace by accident, clearly overjoyed as she spun around with Midoriya.
Amajiki sputtered, so flustered he had to stop and cover his face embarrassed with a squeak.
"Amajiki are you okay?" Aizawa questioned, stopping next to Amajiki and looking the boy over.
"Sorry sensei, i-it's the past holders, they were um," Amajiki tried to explain.
Hikage could hear Aizawa's sigh, and the man placed a hand on Amajiki's shoulder.
"It's alright Amajiki, considering you have an entirely new set of sensory input you need to account for you've done very well to not react to it on the surface." Aizawa replied and Amajiki lowered his hands to see the man again.
"Especially since the new sensations are multiple active voices that can and will react to outside stimulus around you. Most would not be as collected as you currently are." Aizawa told Amajiki, and Amajiki ducked his head and hugged himself.
Hikage huffed, crossing his arms.
"That means he's impressed with you Amajiki." Hikage pointed out to the boy, making Amajiki's head shoot up and 'towards' him shocked.
"Don't look at me like that, everyone out there will think you're crazy for one thing. But as someone who's lived and seen a few different tough guys in my extended lifetime, I can speak 'strong and silent' and that was Aizawa telling you you're doing good." Hikage said with a huff of bemusement.
Watching as Amajiki became even more flustered and buried his face back in his hands, embarrassed.
Sorry Otoutosan I didn't mean to embarrass you!*Hado quickly apologized through the Mindspace, which did nothing to help Amajiki as he tried to bury himself further in his hands.
Okay, he could kind of see the appeal of family if it meant he could keep teasing his nephew.
But the second someone tried to pair him off with anyone else he'd be leaving to get a gallon of milk in his part of the space and not coming back for ten years.
To explain why they were referring to Amajiki and Hado's shades, this is how they the past holders are able to be 'felt' by the living holders while awake.
A shade is 'semi-physical' form that can be made into existence in the mindspace by any of the past holders once the living holder has been able to make contact with them in the main area.
As for what they look like, think of the wispy-yellow form of Yagi from canon that Izuku sees when he's pulled into the mindspace.
The shades being of the holders colors of course, so Amajiki's is a dark indigo and Hado's a glowing cream color.
Additionally, if a holder doesn't make contact or block out the past users like Yagi did. They will only be represented by this shade and unable to communication with the future holders even if their quirk is passed on, their memories will not be added to the collective unconscious.
And finally their personal space will effectively disappear leaving the shade as the only reminder of the unconnected past holder.
