"Well, could you guys spare some housing?" asked Oona, "Just for a bit, until we can get back home."
"Well, I guess some of you could stay with me," said Linus, "But not all of you. We only have one spare room. What about you, Charlie Brown?"
"I think I could fit one of you in the spare room, and one of you in the backyard," said Charlie Brown, "I've heard some glowing reviews."
"I'll take the backyard," said Otis.
"Are you sure about that, partner?" Olympia asked him.
"I'm sure. I can handle it." said Otis.
"Okay then. I'll take your guest room, Charlie." said Olympia.
"Me and Oscar can share!" said Oona. Oscar looked… unnerved at this statement. However, as no one seemed to notice, he said "I guess it's settled, then. Me and Oona will stay with Linus, and Olympia and Otis will stay with Charlie Brown."
"Okay. Charlie Brown's house is closer, so we'll drop you guys there on the way, and you can get situated." said Linus.
"Okay. Let's start." said Oona, desperate to lie down.
And so, they began. They started walking towards Charlie Brown's house. On there way, they were stopped by someone. "Oh, hello new kids. My name is 5." said he said.
"Oh, hello, 5. My name is Oona, and these are my friends, Otis, Oscar, and Olympia." said Oona, pointing to each of them in turn.
"5 is… a strange name, right?" said Otis.
"Yes, indeed." said Linus. Charlie Brown just sighed.
"It's short for 555 95472." said 5.
"That just raises more questions," said Olympia, "Like why 95472?"
"It's our zip code," 5 said, "or at least, it was. Until we moved."
"Well, it was nice meeting you, 5," said Oona, extending her hand.
"Likewise… Oona, was it?" said 5, shaking it.
"Yep," said Oona, "That's my name."
"See yah." said Otis.
"Toddle-loo," said Olympia.
"Bye," said 5.
And so, the walk continued. Eventually, they reached Charlie Brown's house. "Well, this is my house. I guess I'll see you later, Linus. Oh, and you too, Oscar and Oona." said Charlie Brown.
"Alright, we'll meet here at… 9:00 tomorrow, sounds good?" said Otis.
"Yep!" said Olympia.
"Seems good!" said Oona.
"Alright!" said Oscar. Thus, they all said their goodbyes.
Suddenly, as Linus turned to leave, a voice cried out "Sweet Babboo! Why are you leaving?"
"I AM NOT YOUR SWEET BABBOO!" said Linus, visibly enraged.
"Isn't he the cutest thing?" asked the voice.
"Follow me," said Linus, putting his blanket over his head and running away. Shrugging, Oscar and Oona followed. After they were a bit aways, Oscar asked, "What was that all about?"
"Oh, that was Sally, Charlie Brown's sister. She thinks I'm her 'Sweet Babboo'" said Linus.
"What was that thing she called you?" asked Oona.
"Her 'Sweet Babboo,'" said Linus.
"Any clue what it means?" said Oona.
"Nope," said Linus, "None at all." And thus they kept moving towards Linus' house, on the way passing by a large cardboard stand which stated "Psychiatry Booth - Five cents".
"Are you sure I can- Oh, hey Linus, who are your new friends?" said a boy who was sitting in front off the booth. He was also remarkably dirty, being covered head to foot in dust and dirt..
"Oh, hi Pigpen. This is Oona and Oscar, they'll be staying at my house for now." said Linus.
"You mean to tell me that the STRANGERS, who you seemingly only met TODAY, will be staying in MY HOUSE?" said the person who was behind the psychiatry booth.
"Lucy, they can stay in the guest room. You'll barely notice them." said Linus.
"I better not notice them," said Lucy, before turning back to Pigpen, "If you just take a bath, this dirt will all wash off."
"I don't know," said Pigpen, "I've tried that."
"Oh, are you trying to get clean?" asked Oona.
"Yes," said Pigpen, "Lucy thinks it'll help my mental state if I do."
"Hey Oscar, do we have a gadget for that?" ask Oona.
"We sure do! Just let me…" Oscar said, fiddling with something he had procured from odd-knows-not-where. He then pointed it at Pigpen, and shot out a beam of light at him. He became clean.
"Yes!" said Oscar, immediately as the dirt hurled itself towards Pigpen.
"Huh. let me try again," said Oscar. He tried again. The same thing happened.
"It must be broken. Here, let me try." said Oona, taking the gadget. She pointed it at a nearby trashcan, and fired. The can emptied, and became clean.
"Okay, it's working," said Oona, "Let me try…" She then turned, and pointed it at Pigpen. Fired. Clean. Then dirty.
"It's seems this can't be fixed, Pigpen. Sorry." said Oona.
"It's fine," said Pigpen, "I'm used to it."
"If you say so," said Oona, shrugging. Oona, Oscar, and Linus then continued on their merry way.
"What was that all about, if you don't mind me asking?" said Linus.
"Oh, that's our job," said Oscar.
"You see, we work for Odd Squad, which is an organization run by kids. We investigate anything strange, weird, and especially odd. We then use these gadgets to fix the oddness." said Oona.
"Basically, we were trying to use this clean-inator to get that dirt off Pigpen. However, it didn't work." said Oscar.
"Yeah, that tends to happen with him," said Linus, "Anyways, this is my house. You guys are in, the third door on the left. It's the room with the crib. You can fight over who takes the bed, and who gets the mattress that's just on the floor."
"I call the mattress!" said Oona.
"I'll just let you guys get settled in, call for me if you need anything," Linus advised.
"Will do!" said Oscar.
