Fi's existence had become a simple one.

She monitored Demise and the seal that contained him. She kept track of time passing. She studied the sacred temple. And she thought.

She had told master Link- well, just Link now- that she was going into an eternal sleep, but being an inorganic construct that wasn't perfectly accurate.

It was true, she would never manifest physically, nor speak again, but she was still alive within the Master Sword. Her role had simply changed from guide to warden.

Despite this, Link, Hylia's avatar, Scrapper (...), and Groose visited from time to time, though Fi thought the latter might not be there for her.

She treasured the visits from Link most of all, but for some reason the interim between his visits this time was over 120% the previous gaps between visits. Fi was beginning to consider the possibility that something had happened to her former master.

She considered this in depth for a few days (there was very little noteworthy enough to think about) until finally he came again.

Fi perceived him opening the door of the temple and walking in carrying something wrapped in cloth in his arms. He came close and knelt down. Fi felt something pleasant as she waited for him to speak to her, as he always did.

"Hello Fi." Link said reverently. "I've missed you. Thank you for keeping us all safe."

Fi felt his hand brush against her hilt and she hummed silently with what she continued to presume was happiness.

"I came here about that actually. I wanted you to know that you are protecting one more life as of yesterday."

Fi pondered this briefly. She determined that she had insufficient context to determine his meaning and awaited further dialogue. Her former master came closer and she heard him whisper to the bundle in his arms before something tiny touched the pommel.

For a moment, Fi could not comprehend the miracle she was experiencing, then she was sent reeling through her own consciousness. A tiny life form bearing the dowsing signature of the mortal Hylia and her former master?

Fi's consciousness snapped to the tiny hand so forcefully that it may have registered on the physical plane. Fi performed every scan and examination she could think of once, twice, three times… once more just to be sure.

Cradled in her former master's arms was a healthy baby girl. His daughter. Hylia's daughter.

"She was born last night. Zelda is resting, so she couldn't come."

Fi felt that this was most prudent. Zelda's health was best assured by bed rest and sleep. In fact, the baby should probably be resting too.

… Perhaps its presence was allowable for a bit longer.

"I wanted to thank you for saving the world and for continuing to protect it against Demise. Without you… nothing like this would be possible."

Fi felt something intense swelling within her. Something that spurred her to check the integrity of the seal containing the snarling void that was Demise. She examined every parameter of it as closely as she had the baby, finding it to be in perfect order. As it would be, as long as she could continue to function.

The tiny hand was withdrawn and Fi felt a strange discomfort with its absence. She pondered this feeling as she compiled and studied the results of one last quick scan she managed to complete before the hand was withdrawn.

"She opened her eyes just a couple moments after she was born. Her eyes are blue." Link chuckled nervously, "Well, all babies have blue eyes at first but hers might not change because Zelda and I both have blue eyes."

Fi imagined Link's description and she felt 'happiness' again.

"We had a name picked out, but her eyes were so big, bright, and blue… We decided it didn't fit after all. We named her Fiora. Fi for short."

Link may have imagined it, but he could swear he heard the Master Sword chime quietly.

I love writing for auntie Fi so much. Fiora means flower in Italian.

I had planned to make this the conclusion to the series but it might be a while before I have a chance to write all my ideas so here ya go.
