Hi there everyone, here is Chapter 14! I apologize for the delayed upload, but recently, I found it hard to keep my mind on anything for longer than a day. So for the time being, I decided to forgoe my regular upload plan until I can fix it. Do not worry however, as CH.15 is already on the way!
"So, what the fuck is the "thing" you have to show me?" Velvette asked, annoyance clear as day in her voice.
While she committed to the deal on her own free will, it still bothered her that she had to make one in the first place. Was she really so untrustworthy for Charlie to enact a deal of silence? No, the problem surely would be her soon-to-be former associates in business. While Vox had his one-sided rivalry with The Radio Demon (even she could see Alastor was not interested in this thing), Valentino was something of a public enemy number One in this hotel.
"Remember back at the Overlord meeting, when I said that I had a meeting with the leaders of Heaven?" Charlie asked Vel, who in return just nodded.
"Well, the one Seraphim, that supported our movement, and gave me information on the Angels weakness, was actually kicked out, and according to the wounds she was sporting, tortured." Charlie said with a nervous grin.
Vel was baffled at that statement. Not only did Heaven kick out another one of their own, but it was also an angel of the upper Echelon too. It took a few moments until she processed the last info Charlie gave her, and a shiver ran down her spine. This Seraphim was not only banished, but she was also tortured before she was thrown into hell.
The trio walked silently until they reached the last door on the corridor. As they were about to enter, a shadow manifested behind them, and violently grabbed Velvette, dragging her away from the room. Velvette tried to fight back, but this was only in vain, as shadow-like tendrils wrapped themselves around their wrists.
"ALASTOR, STOP IT!" Charlie shouted, stopping the Radio Demon in his tracks.
Alastor turned towards Charlie, his facial expression unchanged from his regular smile. He looked down at Vel, before shrugging and retracting his tendrils. He dropped Vel to the floor, who quickly hurried towards Charlies side. While she might be daring, she was not too keen on picking a fight with the Overlord who made former Overlord council disappear basically overnight.
"Ohh, Charlie, it seems you have forgotten who your current company is. Please let me introduce you to Velvette, one of the three Vees, the group of minor annoyances, who would love to see this hotel burn." Alastor said, motioning vaguely towards Vel.
"Velvette came here with tech to help us defend the hotel. Furthermore, she was willing to make a deal to not share any information about what was happening at the Hotel." Charlie retorted.
Alastor looked displeased, but backed off nonetheless. "By the way, I managed to patch up your angelic friend. She lost a lot of blood, so she must rest for quite a while before she can go about again" Was all he said, before disappearing into his shadow.
Velvette finally got up and looked in the genera direction of where Alastor disappeared, as if anticipating another attack. Charlie just let out a sigh, as Vaggie used her wing to pull Charlie close, in an attempt to ease her tension. Charlie gave a quick look towards both of them, before motioning to both of them to follow her.
They entered the room, and the sight in front of them was a somber one. In front of them, a figure was lying on the bed, completely bandaged up. While still fresh, splatters of golden blood were visible through them, as some wounds were quite deep. The angel was lying with their back facing towards the trio, the stumps where previously were wings attached protruding from their back. Truly, Emily was a mess after her imprisonment.
Charlie hugged Vaggie, not being able to look at Emily in such a state, tears forming in her eyes. Velvette looked at the fallen angel with contemplation though. She walked around the bed to get a better look at her, when her heart suddenly stopped.
She was mesmerized with Emily's face. Even though she looked like she was in pain, her features were soft, adorned with white freckles on pale, grey skin. She slowly lifted up her hand to touch the round face, before forcing it to her side again. She did not know what came over, but she quickly suppressed the feeling.
After a couple of minutes, Vaggie motioned for Velvette to follow her and Charlie out of the room. Although she wanted to admire this, literally, angelic face longer, she followed them out of the room. The trio continued down the hall until they reached a specific door.
As Vaggie was about to open the door, a scream was heard from within said room. "Nononono, don't tou-" before a explosion shook the hotel. Vaggie opened the door, and plume of black smoke engulfed all of them. Vaggie, done with the nonsense, unfolded her wings and flapped them dissipating the smoke.
They entered the room, and inside was Sir Pentious, couching and covered with soot from the explosion. His Egg Bois peeked out from behind a overturned sofa, watching in anticipation. Pentious looked over to the door, before quickly jumping up, taking his top hat off and giving a small bow.
"Ahh, Vagatha, Charlie, what a pleasssure to sssee you! I was just tinkering with some invention in hopes of using it to kill ssssome of the Angels on Extermination Day" he said with his usual hiss.
"yeah, we can tell." Vaggie deadpanned, before continuing. "Look, we need your help, as Velvette" She pointed at aforementioned Overlord, "brought us a prototype from Vox. Can you make something of it?"
Vaggie handed him the device, and Pentious immediately got to work. He took notes, while he commanded his Egg Bois to get various tools. He would then move on to carefully disassemble the device, jotting down notes and schematics on how to build replicas. All in all, Velvette was kind of impressed by Pentious.
Now that she was thinking back, he could have been a major help to Vox with his technical savvy, even if he was from the Victorian Era. The way he worked really made clear that he could be a major threat, almost Overlord level, if it was not for his clumsiness.
After a couple of minutes, Pentious finally lifted his head up. "While it is possible to replicate thisss device, I lack the necessary facilities and educated persssonal to build more such devices."
Vaggie was thinking about how to solve this problem, as Velvette perked up. "Why don't ya get the these twats from Carmine Industries to help ya? They might not be as savvy with tech than dear Voxxy, but they should still get the job done."
"That could work! Vaggie, aren't Zestial, Odette and Clara arriving soon to oversee the training of the Cannibals and to deliver some more weapons?" Charlie said enthusiastically.
"Well, yeah, but I do not think that they are willing to put up with more requests to help us." Vaggie pondered.
Just as these words left her mouth, Alastor manifested in the room. Instinctively, Velvette umped behind Charlie, not wanting to relive the same experience from before. Alastor just looked in her general direction, smile in place, which greatly unnerved the fashion demon.
"Don't worry, I'm not here to throw you off the premise, as much as I would love to." Alastor said nonchalantly. "I'm here to inform Charlie that some visitors have arrived, in fact, it is non other than the respected Sir Zestial, as well as the daughters of Miss Carmine."
Vaggie just threw a pleading look towards Charlie, who smiled and gave her a thumbs up. Screw it, she will try to ask the Carmine Sisters for additional help, even if she knew they would probably say no.
