Take note: Sougo is 35 and Kagura is 31. Souichiro is 8. I don't own Gintama.

Kagura and Sougo's son thought of an idea for his new mission and that is to catch his parents being 'sweet' to each other.

Although, he couldn't think of any instances where he sees his parents that 'sweet'.

Day 1

Souichiro looked across the table, his Mami and Pops are busy doing their morning routine as per usual. Kagura is eating their left over dinner for breakfast and his Pops is drinking his usual black coffee and pancakes.

Nothing seems so sweet about it, the kid thought.

Day 5

Nothing changes. He even observes them during dinner but all his parents did was eat then they watch some soap opera that his Mami likes then his Pops went to bed earlier because of an early duty the next day.

Day 13

He even forgot his mission because of the never changing routine of his parents.

Day 17

He didn't got the chance to observe today because his Mami went to space to visit his Uncle Kamui and Grandpops Umibouzu. His Mami does this every year. She stays there for 3 weeks and during her absence, him and his Pops just lives in the Shinsengumi Station to his Pops old room back when he's still there in the compound.

Day 39

Souichiro visits his Granpa Gin-chan and Uncle Shinpachi today.

Day 43

It's parents' day to his school and his Mami is with him.

"Hmmm... The grand price is pretty interesting, huh." Kagura said out loud. Her cerulean eyes were reading the pamphlet she got from Souichiro's teacher at the entrance.

"Mami, every grand price is interesting, or else nobody would bother joining the games." Souichiro deadpanned.

His Mami chuckled at his reply. She's used to his Sougo-temperament of answering things.

"Too bad your Pops isn't here, we couldn't do the 3-pair leg race." Kagura tsk tsked. "If only your Uncle Patsuan isn't busy with his Otsuu fan meeting today I could call him to be a substitute dad--oh wait!"

For a moment, Souichiro got slightly scared with his Mami's evil smile. It was so sudden.

His Mami crouched down to his eye level and smiled at him with eyes glittering with evil plan. "Or... We could ask for a random guy here and make him pretend he is your Pops and--"

Kagura was cut off when she felt a strong, familiar arm snaked its way to her waist. She was forced to stand up and looked up at her husband's eyes who is looking at her with raised brow.

"I'm not dead yet, China. Don't bother to look for new husband, I'll just arrest him and you." Sougo said in his lazy deadpan voice.

"Pops!" Souichiro was excited after he saw his father hovering him and his Mami.

"Sougo? Wait-- what are you doing here? I thought you said you have a witness protection duty or whatever today?" Kagura spun around her husband's arm that is still wrapped around her waist. She's busy being surprised to see the baka sadist to react to his possessive arm around her.

"I assigned some rookie to do the job." Sougo shrugged off and nod at his son looking up at him.

"Pops, will you do the race with us?" Souichiro hopefully asks his old man. He was a little disappointed when he heard his Pops couldn't make it to the parents' day but now that his father is here, he wants to enjoy the day or just half of it with his parents.

And... of course, this is a once in a lifetime chance to catch his parents being sweet to each other, to accomplish his mission.

"Of course, Sou-chan, your Pops will join us to win the race or else he'll get a beating from me." Kagura said proudly, crossing her arms and giving her husband a warning glare.

"Hai hai..." Sougo ignored his wife's threat and just ruffles Souichiro's hair and let go of Kagura's waist.

Kagura and Souichiro gave each other a victorious thumbs up and the family of three went to list their names to the game facilitators.

Many games and a beef steak meat price later, the three are resting inside a makeshift shed. The school is buzzing. Parents and their kids as well as the teachers are creating noisy surrounding.

"I can't wait until dinner time." Kagura was leaning on a chair, looking like a gangster boss with their meat on her lap. Super pleased they won the major price.

Souichiro nodded happily at his Mami. He noticed his Pops is busy talking on his phone. Uncle Toshi must be scolding his Pops for leaving his job but his father looks like he doesn't care of his superior yelling at him on the phone.

"Sorry, kid, Pops have to go back to the station." Sougo crouched down to speak to him.

"Okay, Pops." Of course the little Sougo is understanding of his father. He grew up where some times, his dad isn't home for almost a month because of work. "Mami and I will see you in dinner."

Souichiro is disappointed his Pops couldn't finish the school event but at least he made time for him despite his schedule.

Oh well, seems like his mission can't be accomplished today too but at least -- He saw his Pops come to his Mami who is looking too pleased to care about her surroundings.

"I'll see you later." Sougo squeezed his wife's lips that made her look like a duck. Effectively making her angry.

"Ow! You basta--" Kagura didn't finish her complain coz her husband gave her a quick cheek bite that made her blush instead. "Oi, so many people here!" She whisper yelled. "Are you crazy?!"

"So, what? This policeman is just saying goodbye to his glutton wife-- ow!" Sougo got interrupted with a punch on his stomach by Kagura.

Some of the people there, including Souichiro, sweat dropped after that scene which made Kagura blush like a tomato.

After Day 43

Souichiro pretty much forgot about his mission just like any kid who gets fixated on other things.

I really tried my best to come up with a new story I could upload because I will never forgive myself if I let 2024 pass without making a new OkiKagu fic hahahhaha. So sorry for being absent.
