Time Turning
"Hermione, in here okay?"
Hermione nodded and pulled the two boys into the large broom cupboard - knowing how this would look to outsiders. She hoped nobody saw or - god forbid - told Timothy.
"Right. Two turns ought to do it" she muttered to herself and wrapped the chain around all three of their necks, good enough friends to not mind the closeness.
She quickly twisted the dial on the time turner and Harry and Ron struggled to stand up straight. They became suddenly woozy as the light streaking through the window seemed to sprint across the wall. Thankfully nobody came in and as abruptly as it had started, it ended.
"Whoa that was trippy" Ron mumbled, nursing his head.
"You get used to it" Hermione responded, tucking the chain into her jumper and leading the boys out of the cupboard into a thankfully deserted corridor. Harry had chosen the location well - which made her a little concerned about how long he had been planning some form of escapade.
"Right. This is what we need to do. The other us are simply in the common room right now so we can go into the forest and wait for Kanda to appear without anyone suspecting us."
Ron was nodding like this wasn't the most ridiculous thing that Hermione had agreed to. The things she went along with to keep her friends alive.
"Right. A specific part of the forest? Where are we going?" She queried.
"I mean we can't go past Hagrid's hut - he'd blow the whole not being seen thing" Ron mentioned and Harry was nodding.
"Past the lake then"
"Lead on captain" Hermione gestured tiredly for Harry to take the lead and Ron grinned giving her a little strength.
"Let's go"
The trio sprinted out down the deserted corridor and out of the castle, towards the Black Lake. It would be the long way round and Harry cursed the fact that he hadn't brought his invisibility cloak. It was Ron who said it would be a bad idea. "I'd like to be able to see where you are, mate" which, unfortunately, made sense.
It was beginning to turn to dusk and Harry was aware that they had about an hour until their 'other selves' would be leaving the common room. They had to hurry. Kanda would probably enter the forest the 'usual' way past Hagrid's Hut which was much faster.
"Which route?" Ron asked as they finally approached the forest's edge. Harry saw the Dementors lingering in the distance and made his decision.
"We'll go this way" and pointed out a route around where the creatures had set up vigil. Hermione and Ron readily agreed, wanting to never experience them again.
"Into the woods we go" Hermione mumbled as she followed the boys into the forest.
