The Christmas morning when Kagome was seven years old had dawned snowy and bright. She ran toward the third house on the street where she lived, feeling the cold touching her nose and cheeks, though her hands were warm. She stopped in front of InuYasha's door, and it opened before she could ring the bell.
"InuYasha! Look what Santa brought me!"
She raised her hands, smiling, as she showed off red gloves adorned with white and green holiday designs. InuYasha pulled his own hands from behind his back and held them up to show her.
"I have those too."
He knew Santa hadn't brought them for him—he'd figured that out the year before. Still, he enjoyed seeing Kagome's surprised expression.
