DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN THE FRANCHISE: How To Train Your Dragon
"Someone Talking"
Dear: Berk, and the Hairy Hooligan tribe
If you are reading this then me and the dragons have taken our banishment from this place, with us deciding to leave in the darkness of night so as to not be hassled by any of you Vikings, and before any of you can cause us any more pain, I trust Toothless to take us to a safe place, that we can call home. My former father, though you fought to protect the village during the war, you were however not the one to lose your leg to end it. I Did! I have come to realize something in the past few days, and that is that you never wanted me or the dragons on berk, for several reasons. You never wanted me because of me being a "Useless" fishbones, and because I remind you so much of mom. While the dragons, I've realized you never wanted to stop fighting them. You've never wanted to change in your life. I'm sure you'll enjoy Snotlout as chief of the village with me gone. So for the last time bye my former father and village.
From Hiccup the Horrendous
Stoick could only sigh heavily after reading not only the last message from Hiccup, but also one of the only thing that had previously belonged to his son that still remained on Berk. Most of Hiccup's other belongings had been taken with the young man during his and the dragon's exodus from berk in the middle of the night. The reason as for why they had left was that due to Mildew and some of the more dragon hating members of the tribe, faking "dragon" attacks to discredit the dragons. One of them even causing the death of two young children belonging to house Hofferson. Because of this it had caused a rift to form in the still being mended relationship between father and son, enough to during the last arguement they had ended with Stoick punching Hiccup to the floor, after Hiccup had once again said that Mildew had faked the dragon attacks.
Worst part is that Hiccup had been right about it, because after Hiccup and the dragons had left Berk. He finally decided to check to see if Mildew had really been the cause of the attacks. Yes, cause in his home were the discarded scales of Toothless, used spikes from Nadders, and the claws and saliva from Monstrous nightmares. Hiccup leaving had also caused a rift to form between him and his formerly best friend, and Hiccup's mentor, Gobber who constantly liked to bring up to Stoick that hadn't Hiccup been saying, before he and the dragons left, that Mildew was behind the supposed rogue dragon attacks and Stoick hadn't listened. Stoick realized quickly that though Hiccup had originally come from himself, it was Gobber that had become the boy's father throughout his life, with him alway being there for the boy.
Getting back to Mildew and what had happened to him after it had been revealed that he had caused the damages, unfortunately the crotchety old man had been able to use loopholes in the Viking law to avoid being either banished or executed for his treasonous acts. While he was protected from those, he was unprotected from some beatdown from pissed off vikings, Stoick had also ordered that his property be moved further away from the village, along with him losing his elder status amongst the tribe, and his place on the council.
Quickly deciding it would probably be a good idea to check on the dragons, that they had been able to procure since the exodus, along with making sure everything was in order around the village because winter was two months away from approaching. He exited his hut, having eaten in his rather lonely home now that Hiccup had left. He started by checking out the Dragon training area, where the dragons they had been able t acquire resided. To start off, they only had two currently tamed dragon at the moment, and if his son was here he would certainly be surprised by the fact that one of them had been trained by Stoick. With the dragon in question being a rather powerful, male, blue Thunderdrum, that Stoick had called Thornado. The another trained dragon had been found by young Gustav Larson, who originally had been a fan of Snotlout this he had trekked into the forest and found a straggler from the Exodus, a similar age monstrous Nightmare that the child had named Fanghook. Snotlout had not been pleased with Gustav had a Nightmare while he lost Hookfang.
Those two they had built areas for the duo to sleep behind their respective rider's houses.
Now the other two dragons they had been able to procure, unfortunately for them they were both very hostile, and also both came from rather deadly dragon species. These two the tribe had taken to calling the "Problem Duo." The first of the duo being a highly aggressive blue Singetail, which had been captured by Spitelout when he went to set up a storehouse on another island that they would later find was inhabited by the species, the one that they had been able to capture Spitelout had become rather fond of the beast even going so far as to call it Flamelout. Unfortunately for them the beast was still not willing to be trained by them. Before Spitelout had claimed the right to tame the dragon, the tribe had vetoed both the Thornton twins, as well as Snotlout who had wanted to train the deadly dragon. Most of the time they had the Flamelout in a secure pen in the dragon training area for the safety of everyone else.
Now the other problem dragon was one that Astrid had been trying to tame, the same flightmare that ruined her families name, with help from Fishlegs the two had been able to capture it, while also learning that it's blast could paralyze its opponents. Thus clearing the Hofferson name, and people now called Astrid Fearless Astrid Hofferson. Still like Spitelout's claimed Singetail, the flightmare wasn't willing to let Astrid or anyone else ride it, so like the other it was often kept in a secure pen.
Speaking of Astrid, she had recently been told by her parents and Stoick, that her and Hiccup had been betrothed to each other since they were born due to Valka and Astrid's mom having been very close friends from a young age before Valkas untimely death. This had certainly made Astrid happy due to her still having feelings for the heir, while also preventing anyone else from trying to arrange a marriage between Astrid.
As he was walking to the Dragon training arena, he heard the cackles of a particular group, that had been recently causing him to have headaches. The group in question being his unfortunately new heir Snotlout Jorgensen who after the exodus had reverted back to how he was before of being a bully, with the man even hanging out with two of his old friends in Hogsbreath, and Wartihog. It seemed that due to Stoick having been forced to name Snotlout his heir, the young man's ego had sky rocketed, which was certainly not helped by the boys lackeys constantly feeding it with praise. He could only hope that Hiccup returned, so that he could take back the status as heir, cause Stoick had no doubt that letting Snotlout be chief would certainly doom the village.
Increasing his pace to the dragon training area. Looking down he found to no surprise that Fishlegs, Spitelout, and Astrid were going over Hiccups journal that he had left behind and Bork the Bolds papers trying to come up with a way to train either the Singetail or the Flightmare that were currently locked in separate holding areas but finding little to no success. Deciding to check on the two he headed down the ramp.
"Fishlegs, Spitelout, Astrid. How goes the training of the two problem dragons." This startled the trio and caused them to jump before turning to face their chief.
Grimacing Astrid was honest, "to be honest with you. It's not exactly going that great Chief. The problem is that while Hiccup certainly knew about the types of dragons, when he was still here, he never thought about training either of the two species. While borks notes only talk about ways to fight the dragons, not how to tame and ride them unfortunately."
Fishlegs nodded in agreement with what Astrid had said, before adding, "we have been able to figure out what the dragon prefer to eat, so we were hoping that makes them somewhat more agreeable, and while that seemed to work somewhat on Flamelout, for the Flightmare unfortunately there has been no effect."
Sighing yet again, "understood, try your best. Hopefully we can figure out ways to tame them, and soon. Anyways I'll probably take aerial patrol with Thornado later, probably bring Gustav and Fanghook for backup, after getting some work done around Berk."
"Roger, chief."
"On it Brother."
"Gotcha, chief."
With that done, he began making his was around berk to see what he needed to focus his attention on, with the plan to patrol the air with thornado later on. It was certainly stressful on Stoick not only being one of only two Viking with a tamed dragon on berk, but in addition to that he also had to deal with the duties that were required the current reigning chief of Berk and the hairy hooligans handle, and while Gustav had certainly helped in the defense of berk, Stoick and the council was hesitant to let the boy and dragon go on their own as the only other dragon rider. This unfortunately also meant that the search for both Hiccup and the flock of dragons that hopefully, had little time that Stoick could focus on that. Hopefully when Astrid and Spitelout have trained the Flightmare and Singetail respectively, it will take some of the pressure off of his shoulders.
POV change
After another unsuccessful attempt by both her and Fishlegs to train the Skrill and Flightmare, she is making her way home, with one of her arms having got paralyzed thanks in part to the Bane of her existence. Luckily for her however, Fishlegs had been able to figure out a antidote to deal with the paralysis a bit after capturing the beast. So her left arm should be back to normal in a hour at most. She has just entered her house when she hears someone begin speaking behind her, turning around she realized it was just her dad, Bjorn Hofferson, the head of House Hofferson. He was sitting at the table making sure that his hunting weapons were prepared, because him and a few of his friends were going to go on a hunting trip to a nearby island.
"You alright there Astrid?"
"Yeah, just got hit by a lucky shot courtesy of the Hofferson's Bane, the Flightmare. In addition 'Flamelout' certainly is not being any easier or willing to be tamed by Spitelout."
"Ah, I take it your hoping to utilize the Flightmare to find both Stormfly, as well as your betrothed." He said with a slight tease causing Astrid to blush slightly.
"Kind of," as she. Sits down at the table to clean her own prized axe, that she now knew Hiccup had made for her. While the two were cleaning their weapons they started making chit chat with one another.
XxXx Change POV and timeskip XxXx
Bucket and Mulch are currently out retrieving the fishing nets that they had set yesterday. Suddenly out of nowhere while the duo was bringing in their fishing nets they suddenly catch wind of a rather familiar dragon sound, the sound of a Night Fury, this immediately caused the duo to look around recognizing the sound as it came from one of Berk's lost dragons. With Bucket asking Mulch, "Mulch was that, was that what i think it was?"
"The sound of a night fury. Yes, yes it was Bucket, and you know what that should signify."
Deciding to be smart they pulled out the spyglasses that Gobber's had made for them based on the one Hiccup had made and utilized. As they were looking around suddenly Bucket became hopping around while shouting to hi friend, "Mulch I see it, and the Night fury is over there, and its got a rider on its back!"
Quickly Mulch ran over and aimed his spyglass where Bucket was pointing, and the two ended up seeing a very familiar night fury with a prosthetic tail fin, and on Toothless's back was a masked rider clad in an armor of what seemed to be night fury scales. The rider and dragon had thankfully didn't seemed to have noticed their presence as the two were doing aerial acrobatics and seemed to be having have a blast. Bucket and mulch quickly rowed their rboat to hide behind a seastack to give them some cover as they spied on the two. After the rider and dragon had finished they're acrobatic stunts, they ended up heading to hover close to a nearby island, where they meet up with two additional masked rider one riding a rather big, green, and red dragon of unknown species, while the other rode a orange Changewing. Like what they hoped Hiccup was wearing, these two were also dressed in dragon scale armor made from teh scales of their respective dragons.
Unfortunately due to the distance between the group, it prevented Bucket and Mulch from hearing what the group had been saying, or even what they were talking about. After the three talked for a bit, the riders and their dragons descend into the tree tops of the island they had been hovering over, where they quickly disappeared from view.
Quickly turning around Mulch told Bucket, "We have to tell Stoick and the rest of Berk!"
"Agreed," Bucket was quick to agree.
But before the two headed back to Berk they decided to do some reconnaissance on the island that the dragon riders had landed on not getting off their boat, so they would know where to go, in order to land any ships on the island. Because it's not like they had a flock of dragons anymore that they could utilize to fly straight into the heart of the island. After finding a beach where they would hopefully be able to land on they immediately began making their way back to Berk ignoring their fishing nets that they had out. They made it back in record time thanks to the wind backing them up. When they got to port, they saw quite a few people were surprised that they're wasn't as much fish as there should be.
"What happened out there, did something take some of the fish?" One Viking asked the duo curiosity in his voice.
"No but we have some very important news we discovered, we need to talk to Stoick immediately, and call a council meeting now." Mulch said urgently. With that the ran towards the village to hopefully got everything ready for the upcoming meeting that they had called.
