Important Note: In this story, I will mostly follow the Dragon Ball Kai series. But, for some scenes, I'm going to use the original Ocean dub. Just to let you know.
Chapter 16: Power up, Krillin. Vegeta strikes back at Zarbon.
Everyone sighed at Natsu and Gray who glared at each other.
"Next time you decide to fire off a Kamehameha. Don't do it in my direction, flame breath."
Natsu snorted. "Oh, please popsicle. You were standing in my way. Not my fault you had one of your stripper moments and lost your clothes in the way my blast went."
"Shut up. Both of you," said Erza. "Keep quiet and sit down so we can continue the reaction."
And here she thought that at least Natsu had matured a little bit. But it didn't last long.
Natsu sighed and nodded. "Ok, Erza. Sorry."
He was actually getting tired of fighting with Gray all the time. But he couldn't help it. Every time Gray accused him of something. And he couldn't let that sit down. All the mages were surprised that Natsu apologized. Maybe he had matured a little bit.
Malia chuckled. Those mages were always a hoot. "Are you all ready to start reacting again."
"Yep, we are Malia. You can start anytime," said Lucy with a smile.
"Very well. Let's continue then."
The screen started to show what happened last time. Yes, of course with our favorite storyteller in the background.
"Last time. Vegeta went on the offensive and seized a Dragon Ball for himself."
The mages frowned sadly.
"He really killed an entire village," said Laxus with gritted teeth. "Just to find a single Dragon Ball."
"Yeah. And here I was thinking he might change," said Canna with a snort.
"Meanwhile, on the run from Frieza's men. Krillin and Dende raced to protect the final Dragon Ball. Before it too ran in enemies hands."
"I hope those two will arrive safely at that Grand Elder's home," said Mira worriedly.
"Well, I don't think Vegeta will be able to find him," said Lucy with a sweatdrop. "Especially in the condition he is in."
"True. And Frieza and his soldiers are incapable of sensing powers without any Scouters," said Gildarts. "I'm sure they will be fine."
"When Frieza's top man underwent a shocking transformation. He proceeded to unleash the full extent of his power on an unprepared Vegeta."
The mages flinched a bit when they saw the brutal display again.
"Yikes. That certainly was a one-side battle," said Levi.
Gajeel nodded. "Yeah, to think that Zarbon's powers grew so much to make Vegeta look like a weakling. The future battles that will happen will undoubtedly be even more fearsome."
The mages could only agree with Gajeel's words.
"Find out what happens next, now."
The mages saw Krillin and Dende on the screen.
The little Namekian began to speak. "There it is. That really tall rock formation in front of us."
"That is the Grand Elder's home," said Lucy surprised. "It thought it might be more of a huge palace or something."
"I doubt Namekians care about living in huge houses. As long as they have a roof under their heads. They must be happy," said Lisanna with a smile.
Krillin sighed in relief. "Well, let's just hope the long trip has been worth it."
"The Grand Elder has lived in that house longer than any of us know."
Krillin looked worried. "Kinda conspicuous. Seriously. I mean, with it right in the open like this the bad guys will barely have to look. Doesn't seem all that smart if you ask me."
"Krillin has a point," said Erza. "It certainly isn't safe to build your home in such a high place. Enemies will easily spot it."
Marakov stroked his beard in deep thought. "Maybe the Grand Elder likes the view from up there. And he can watch over his people better."
As the two landed. Krillin began to frown. "I hate to ask this. But what if they have already been here?"
"I don't know," said Dende sadly.
"I doubt they have," said Juvia. "They don't have Scouters anymore to track them down."
"Right. And the surroundings are untouched. No damage whatsoever. They are still safe for now," said Gray.
The door of the Grand Elder's home suddenly began to open. And a young Namekian warrior walked outside. The mages were shocked.
"Oh, my god. He looks so much like Piccolo," said Lucy surprised.
Mira nodded with a smile. "Yes, he certainly does."
Dende smiled. "That's Nail. Thank goodness. That means everything is alright."
"Nail, huh? He seems like a strong warrior," said Pantherlilly.
Gajeel nodded. "Yeah. I certainly wouldn't mind going a few rounds with him."
Krillin was amazed. "He's the spitting image of Piccolo."
"I am relieved that you and the visitor arrived here safely Dende. The Grand Elder has become aware of the dark clouds gathering over our home world," said Nail.
"His voice is so calm. Unlike Piccolo's," said Evergreen.
"Well, Piccolo did live in an entirely different environment than Nail. So they might seem similar. But their personalities must be completely different," said Fried.
Bickslow frowned. "Looks like that Elder guy already knows about Frieza and his men."
"I doubt he knows who they are, said Laxus with a frown. "But he definitely knows what's been happening to his home."
"So he has seen all the horrible things that have been going on," said Dende.
Krillin smiled. "Good. The less explaining we have to do the better."
"The Grand Elder wishes to see you. Please, come inside," said Nail with a polite tone.
"Wow. So polite. He definitely isn't like Piccolo," said Wendy with a chuckle.
Mira nodded at that. She wished that Piccolo could learn a bit from Nail's example.
"But, why would he stay if he knows what is happening," asked Dende. "This place is so obvious. Both of you should try to hide."
Nail sighed. "Alas. The Grand Elder knows all too well how futile that would be. I'm afraid at his age hiding simply isn't an option. And there is nothing left for me to do but stay at his side and protect him for as long as I can."
The mages smiled at Nail's protective nature.
"He certainly is a noble one. And loyal too. You certainly don't come across people like that very often," said Marakov with a smile.
Gildarts chuckled. "Yeah. That's true."
"So then, all the rumors are true," said Dende sadly. "He doesn't long for this world."
The mage's eyes widened at that.
"Oh, no. Does that mean the Grand Elder is sick," said Wendy sadly.
"Might be," said Charla with a sad frown. "Or it might be just his age. He has lived on Namek before even that terrible storm. And that must have happened a long time ago."
"Enter, please," said Nail.
Krillin frowned as he took another look at Nail. "This guy can hold his own in a fight. He seems a lot stronger than the rest of the Namekians I've seen."
"Cool. I wish I could spar with him," said Natsu excitedly.
"I doubt you can, Natsu," said Lucy with a sweatdrop. "These memories happened a hundred years ago."
"Yeah. But he might be still alive. Namekians age differently don't they?"
Lucy thought for a bit. "Yeah. That is true."
When the mages finally saw The Elder. They were shocked at how big he was.
"Wow. That is the Grand Elder," said Happy amazed. "He is huge."
"Can't deny that," said Lisanna shocked.
The tone in which the Grand Elder spoke was kind and gentle. "Welcome. You come to us from a planet called Earth, yes? First of all, allow me to express my gratitude for seeing a child of mine to safety. Thank you."
Marakov smiled at that. The Grand Elder saw his people as his children. The man was in some ways like him. He also saw all the mages in his guild as his children and family.
"Strange," said Wendy with a smile. "I know this is only a memory. But for some reason. I can feel the warmth and kindness coming of him."
Mira nodded with a smile. "Yes. Almost like a soothing Grandfather."
Krillin was getting embarrassed. "H-hey no need to thank me. It was nothing really."
The mages chuckled at Krillin.
"Ah, Krillin. Always so modest," said Lisanna with a grin.
The screen changed towards Goku's ship. The Saiyan from Earth was doing katas at incredible speeds. And at 50 times gravity no less.
"Wow, he's really going at it," said Lucy.
"He has to. He only has maybe 5 days left," said Erza worried.
"Yeah, but look. It looks like he already mastered 50 times gravity," said Laxus with a grin. "And he still has 5 days left. Looks like I'm going to win this bet gramps."
Marakov snorted. "The deal was that he mastered 100 times gravity Laxus. He still hasn't reached that point."
The mage's eyes widened when they saw Goku lose his footing and fell down on his butt.
"Please be more careful next time, Goku," said Mira with a sigh. "You are going to hurt yourself at this rate."
Goku began to breathe deeply. "Well, okay. Guess I'm officially maxed out now. Still though," said Goku with a grin. "I've mastered 50 times the gravity of Earth. And fast. Real fast. Looks like my little face-off with Vegeta did a lot more than put me in the hospital after all, uh?"
"Wait what," said Laxus surprised. "C'mon Goku. You can't stop now. You have to keep going."
Marakov chuckled. "Smart decision, Goku. It's not good to over-train your body. Take some good rest. You deserved it. Looks like I will win this bet, Laxus."
"Heck no," said Laxus with a glare. "There is still time. Goku will continue his training. You'll see old man."
The other mages sighed at the two. The screen went back to the Grand Elder's home.
"By the faul hands of these invaders. Many of my children have died. Their sacrifices weigh on my heart," said the elder sadly as he began to cough a bit.
The mages frowned sadly at that.
"The villains seek the dragon balls for their own insidious ends, am I correct?"
Krillin nodded at the Grand Elder's words. "Yes."
"To think such beacons of hope could be so fouly twisted. That the pinnacle of our people's wisdom could occur such loss."
"Yes, such a sad thing to witness. No doubt that the Grand Elder never wished that the Dragon Balls would be used with such evil intentions," said Marakov sadly. "It must break his heart seeing the things he created himself be the cause of his people's death."
Gildarts frowned sadly. "Yes, it certainly must weigh heavily on his heart."
"Forgive me for cutting to the chase here," said Krillin with a frown. "With all due respect Grand Elder. If it's okay with you. I need to borrow the Dragon Ball that's above your head. I promise I won't let it fall into their clutches. Never in a million years."
The mages smiled at Krillin's brave words. "You are on a quest to collect the Dragon Balls yourself then?"
The monk nodded. "Yes, Sir. I wanna use them to bring back some old friends who died protecting me."
"I would like to ask the same thing, Sir," said Dende. "If his friends were brought back then just maybe, together they might be able to stand a chance against these evil men and defeat them."
"Let's hope so, kid," thought Laxus with a frown. The lightning mage had his doubts though.
"And how is it you know about our legacy," asked the Grand Elder curiously.
"We had them back home too," said Krillin.
The Grand Elder's eyes widened in surprise. "You mean on Earth?"
Krillin nodded as he began to tell the tale of Kami. How he was sent to Earth to escape Namek's climate change. And how he created the Dragon Balls.
"Ah yes," said the Grand Elder with a smile. "I remember now. The child of Katas. What a surprise. To think that he safely arrived on Earth. He was a gifted Dragon-type child, who could create Dragon Balls."
"He was killed," said Krillin sadly. "Along with my friends by one of the monsters who is here now. A Saiyan called Vegeta who wanted to destroy the Earth."
"Technically, Krillin. It was Nappa who killed Piccolo. And by doing so killed Kami as well," said Mira sadly.
"Yes," said Lucy with a clenched fist. "That big Neanderthal. I hope he is in hell for all the horrible things he did."
Canna nodded at Lucy's words.
"The Saiyans are indeed a formidable race. I feel for our lost prodigy. Permit me to ask was this monster by chance a Super Saiyan?"
The mage's eyes widened at that.
"So they finally are talking about this legend of Goku's race," said Gildarts with a thoughtful look. "Been a long time coming."
"Yes. We heard Bardock and even Frieza talking about it at the beginning of this reaction. Who knows. We might be able to learn more about it as the story goes on," said Marakov.
Natsu suddenly said something thoughtful. "Hey, you know how Malia said that Goku is still alive and became a god, right?" The mages nodded.
"Yes, what about it, Natsu," said Erza curiously.
"Well, maybe. Goku somehow managed to obtain this power for himself. Both this Super Saiyan and that God one."
The mage's eyes widened at that.
"You know, that could be a possibility, Natsu," said Levi in deep thought. "The question is… if so? How did he do it?"
"Oh, Malia," said Lucy with a sweet tone. "Might telling us more?"
Malia chuckled. "Sorry, Lucy. But my lips are sealed. No more questions. You will all find out for yourself when the times comes."
The girl pouted. "Oh, C'mon. No fair."
Mira chuckled. "Come now, Lucy. No pouting. Like Malia said we will find out for ourselves eventually."
The blond sighed but nodded.
Krillin's eyes widened in shock. "A Super Saiyan? What's that?"
"Excuse me for a moment. Indulge an old man and step up to my side here."
Krillin nodded.
The Grand Elder smiled and placed his hand on top of Krillin's head. "Please, may I draw from your home's past?"
"S-sure," said the monk confused.
The mage's eyes widened when the Grand Elder began read Krillin's mind.
"Incredible," said Elfman with an amazed look. "This guy can read a person's mind? No wonder he is called The Grand Elder."
"Oh dear. I see now. An evil crept into him and split the body."
All of the mages also saw the images.
"Poor, Kami," said Wendy sadly.
Charla comforted her.
"The two halves remained equal in power. But the pure-hearted Kami could never subdue the dark mirror image born of the rift. And thus, Piccolo was born," said the Grand Elder.
"That Piccolo isn't the one we know, right," said Gray. "I think he was killed by Goku when he was a kid. And then he created an egg with his last breath."
"Right," said Juvia. "And from that egg. The Piccolo we know was born."
Gajeel scratched his head. "Quite a plot. But I like the Piccolo we know better. Sure, he might have been a bit of a jackass at the beginning. But he turned out alright. Thanks to Gohan anyway," said Gajeel with a smile.
The mages nodded with a smile. "Oh, the pain of it. Poor creature. Our Namekian heritage within him divided. If only he had become whole again. He might be still among you today."
Krillin was shocked. "You saw that?"
The Grand Elder nodded with a smile. "Yes, and your intentions. And the only thing purer than that is your courage. So holding to the principle of my sacred trust. I give this to you. The Dragon ball in my keeping."
The mages cheered at that. Well, some of them did. A few just grinned.
"Thank you, Grand Elder," said Krillin with a smile as he accepted his gift. "Wow, this thing got some heft to it. Awesome."
"Yeah, no doubt. They are a lot bigger than the ones on Earth," said Pantherlilly with a chuckle.
"Alas, I fear your wish isn't likely to be granted," said the Elder sadly.
"What do you mean? Why not," said Krillin confused.
Marakov frowned. He had a good idea of what he meant.
"I am ancient. What time I have left on this world will end in a few days. Do you think you'll be able to win back the Dragon Balls already in enemy clutches with so little time? It seems an insurmountable task and once I die…" The Grand Elder began to cough harshly.
"Oh no," said Mira sadly. "So they were right. He must be sick. And the time he has left isn't much."
Marakov sighed sadly. "Yes. And since he created the Dragon Balls. Just like Kami. They are connected with him. So if he dies."
Natsu frowned. "Then the Dragon Balls won't work anymore."
Marakov nodded sadly at that.
After the Grand Elder's coughing had ended. He continued his sentence to Krillin. "The Dragon Balls will be extinguished."
Krillin gained a determined look. "I don't care. Forget my wish. No matter what happens I will protect the one you have given me with my life. Vegeta and his pals won't get it. I promise you that."
The mages grinned at that.
"YEAH. THAT'S THE WAY KRILLIN. YOU'RE A REAL MAN."
"Brother, please. Not so loud. I'm sitting next to you," said Mira annoyed.
"Thank you. I don't possess the strength to protect it myself."
"It's my honor, Sir," said Krillin.
"You have truly incredible reserves of strength friend. Your power is enviable. And yet so little of it is tapped. Let us see if the floodgates may be opened," said the elder as he put his hand again on top of Krillin's head.
The mages were surprised. Did the elder actually have such an ability? To bring a person's hidden power to the surface?
Krillin chuckled. "Sorry. But I'm pretty sure I'm already tapped out, you know. I mean my training has been wicked crazy. Even right now I'm beyond my normal limits back home. So uh…"
But Krillin's eyes widened when he felt a sudden rush of power begin to engulf him. The mage's eyes widened also.
"Wow, incredible. So that old dude really is able to bring out a person's hidden power," said Gajeel amazed.
"Seems like it," said Gildarts with an impressive smile.
"Krillin, do your best. But remember, time is fleeting," said the elder.
Krillin was still in shock. "W-what have y-you done w-with me?" The monk suddenly gained an excited look and began to laugh. "This power, I can feel it surge. I can't believe it."
Juvia chuckled at Krillin's words. "Look at him. Being so happy."
Lisanna smiled at the monk.
"This is just awesome. I feel like I've been totally reborn. Thank you so much, Grand Elder. Uhm, is… is it possible for you to tap into anyone's power? Like maybe, a little kid's power?"
The mage's eyes widened at Krillin's words. They immediately understood what Krillin meant.
Mira smiled happily. "He's talking about Gohan."
Laxus smirked. "Yeah, we all know how much power Gohan has inside him. If the elder can bring forth even a fraction of his strength. Then it might even help them in the battles ahead."
Erza nodded with a smile. "Yes. An excellent plan. Good thinking, Krillin."
"If the power is there to tap, of course. Do you have someone in mind?"
"Well, I mean. Does unlocking someone's potential drain you or anything?"
The Grand Elder smiled. "Not at all. I only provide a trigger. My lifeforce isn't affected."
The mages sighed in relief at that. "Then would it be okay to bring a little buddy of mine up here to see you? To awaken his hidden powers. Because I'm sure his reserves must be totally amazing."
"No doubt," thought Canna with a sweatdrop as she remembered how much destruction Gohan had caused back on Earth.
"Bring him to me. The stronger our friends. The better chance right has to prevail."
"Cool," said Krillin with a grin. "I'll be back in a little while. Uhm, what should I do with this," said Krillin uncertain as he looked at the Dragon Ball the elder had given him.
"Take it with you, my boy. From this point forward the fate of our world, and perhaps the Universe itself rests in your hands."
"No pressure, Krillin," said Lucy with a sweatdrop. "You got this."
Everyone chuckled at that.
"Dende, you just wait here. I'll be back with Gohan before you have a chance to miss me."
The small Namekian nodded. "Be careful out there."
Krillin nodded with a smile. He flew with incredible new speeds towards his friends.
"WHOOHOO," yelled Krillin amazed. "Yeah, I can get Gohan back here in no time now. How completely and totally beyond sweet is this."
"Oh boy," said Lisanna with a grin. "Look at him go. Wish I could fly like that."
Erza nodded. "Yeah, me too. But we will get there eventually. The more we practice our flying. The better we will become."
Natsu smirked. "The others in Magnolia will totally freak out when we return. Especially when I show them the Kamehameha."
Gildarts sighed. "Natsu. No shooting energy beams at our guild hall or fellow mages. Understood?"
Natsu pouted. "What about Wyverns or other beasts?"
Marakov shrugged. "Knock yourself out. Just make sure you don't destroy too much of the landscape, okay?"
Natsu nodded with a grin.
The screen began to show Frieza. Who was hovering in his ship while looking at the scenery with a frown. The mages clenched their fists when they saw the creature. They may hate Vegeta. Not to mention all of the evil soldiers in the Frieza force. But this guy. They didn't just hate him. No, they loathed him with every part of their body. The mages suddenly heard a familiar voice.
"Frieza my lord it's Zarbon."
"You may enter now," said Frieza boringly.
As Zarbon walked inside and stepped towards his lord. The evil tyrant landed on the floor.
"Tell me that you discovered a village."
"No. With all apologies lord. I have yet to locate one. But I'm happy to report that Vegeta has been dealt with," said the man with a grin.
"Hate to break it to you, pal," said Gajeel with a snort. "The guy is still alive. Although barely."
Frieza smiled at his subordinate. "Ah, excellent. And you transformed. It's been a great while since you resorted to that."
"Yes," said Zarbon.
"So, I take this to mean that Vegeta is dead?"
"Well, circumstances wouldn't allow me to find a corpse. But even if by some chance he is still alive. I assure you your Lordship his injuries are grave."
Frieza gained an annoyed look. "You mean to tell me you obtained no confirmation of his death?"
Zarbon was getting nervous by Frieza's look. "He, he was totally submerged under water. The current carried him away, so I…"
"Oh boy," said Fried with a sweatdrop. "The guy certainly isn't happy with his subordinate."
Bickslow shrugged. "If I was in Frieza's place. I would probably be annoyed as well."
"Oh, well I guess we wouldn't want you getting wet. Perhaps you might have retrieved him if you weren't so concerned about getting your stupid hair tussled."
The mages couldn't help but chuckle at that.
The tyrant wasn't happy that his subordinate had fought Vegeta. Frieza told Zarbon about the possibility that Vegeta might have found a Dragon Ball and had hidden it. As the two were talking another soldier arrived. And told them that he discovered a Namekian village. But it already had been destroyed. They figured it was the work of Vegeta. But the next sentence the lowly soldier said. Made the mages slap their heads at the guy's stupidity.
"There was one villager who was still alive. But I dealt with him. Filthy scum."
"What an idiot," said Gajeel with a sigh.
"Oh boy," said Canna with a sweatdrop. "This isn't going to end well for him."
Frieza's eyes gained a cold look. "You imbecile. You disposed of the only witness."
The soldier was killed in an instant. The mages swallowed nervously. They couldn't even follow the attack. How strong and fast was this Frieza guy? Frieza told Zarbon to get Vegeta. And hope for him that he is still alive. Otherwise, he will end up the same as the soldier he just killed. He also told another soldier named Apule to contact planet Frieza immediately.
"Inform them I need a shipment of replacement Scouters without delay, understood? Have them delivered in care of the Ginyu Force."
The mages were confused.
"Who the heck is the Ginyu Force," said Natsu while scratching his head.
"I don't have a clue. But," said Laxus as he saw Zarbon's terrifying look. "They must be a group of powerful soldiers under Frieza's command."
Lucy couldn't help but swallow nervously. "Oh great. First Dodoria, then Zarbon. And now this Ginyu Force. How many more powerful soldiers does Frieza have?"
Gildarts frowned. "I don't know. But by the look of Zarbon. These Ginyu fellows must be pretty strong."
Mira couldn't help but clench her fists. She was worried about Gohan's and Krillin's safety. "Let's hope Goku's training will be enough to stop these guys," she thought hopefully.
"With all due respect Lord Frieza. Isn't calling the Ginyu Force a bit excessive? I realize things look dire. But surely the situation hasn't spiraled so hopelessly out of control that we need their help?"
"My sense of foreboding would tend to suggest otherwise."
"Foreboding," thought the mages confused.
Zarbon was also confused. And told his lord what he meant by that. Frieza told his subordinate that a notion had plagued him for some time. The idea that somewhere out
there, a Saiyan was coming to his own and was destined to become his enemy.
The mage's eyes widened at that.
"Is he talking about who I think he's talking about," thought Marakov with a grin.
Frieza told Zarbon that Vegeta was the most likely candidate at first. But now he wasn't so sure.
Canna smirked. "Heh, he must be talking about Goku. No doubt in my mind."
The others nodded with a grin.
"But my Lord. Again with all due respect. The only Saiyans left in existence apart from him are this what's his name on Earth and his infant son, yes? And based on what I come to understand, Sir. Their powers are even well below Vegeta."
Frieza glared at Zarbon. "So you're telling me my sense of foreboding is little more than childish paranoia?"
"No Sir," said the man afraid.
"Then stop yammering and bring Vegeta back here before I lose what little patience with you I have."
Zarbon nodded and left immediately.
Lucy smirked. "A foreboding of a Saiyan that will become his enemy. Like Natsu would say. My gut tells me that person is Goku."
"Yes, no doubt," said Grey with a grin.
The next few scenes showed how Bulma found a Dragon Ball coming their way at amazing speeds. Both of them immediately knew that was Krillin. But Bulma also told Gohan about another Dragon Ball that was all on its own.
Gohan frowned. "Remember the village that Vegeta was attacking a while ago? That's the direction it was in. But he's not there anymore."
"Are they planning to get the ball that Vegeta has hidden," said Levi with a frown. "I don't know if that is such a good idea. If Vegeta finds out they took it. He will definitely show them no mercy."
Erza thought deeply. "Maybe so. But it's the only chance they got. And Vegeta is currently injured. If you ask me it's the perfect time to strike."
They all agreed with the scarlet's mage words.
Gohan told Bulma that he would get right back. He just needed to borrow the radar. She nodded and gave the boy the device.
"You got it, pal. About time we get a little luck."
Gohan nodded in thanks and flew off.
"Be careful, Gohan," thought Mira worriedly.
The next scenes showed how Zarbon found Vegeta and took him to the ship to try and bring him back to full health. But Vegeta's pulled a fast one on Frieza and Zarbon. He not only destroyed the healing tank he was in but he also killed the alien known as Apule. He then blasted a hole in the ship's wall. But instead of escaping, he hid himself as Zarbon and Frieza entered the healing chamber. He then used this distraction to run towards the room Frieza was in.
He smirked when he saw the Dragon Balls. "Dear Lord Frieza. I regret to inform you that by the time you read this your undisputed reign will come to screeching halt. Kind regards, Vegeta," thought the Saiyan with a grin.
Everyone sweatdropped at that.
"And how exactly is he going to get those 5 Dragon Balls from under Frieza's noise," said Lucy with curious look. "He can't exactly grab them and walk outside with them. He will get caught for sure."
Canna shrugged. "Don't know don't care. Whatever he does, he better do it fast. Because Frieza will figure out his objective sooner or later."
When they saw what happened next. They all couldn't help but be impressed by Vegeta's quick thinking. Vegeta yelled at Zarbon and Frieza while firing a devastating blast throughout the ship's interior. Seconds later the whole hallway of Frieza's ship was full of flames and smoke. Vegeta then unleashed a powerful blast that destroyed Frieza's window and threw all of the Dragon Balls outside.
"Wow, what a genius plan," said Levi impressed. "He may be a dick. But he is pretty smart."
Everyone laughed at that.
Somewhere, in Universe Seven. A short individual sneezed.
"Are you okay, lord Vegeta? That's the 15th time you sneezed this week," said tall blue alien.
"I'm fine Whis. Someone must be talking about me. Probably that idiot Kakarot."
When both Frieza and Zarbon entered the room. Both Vegeta and the Dragon Balls were gone.
Frieza was enraged. "No, no, no. My Dragon Balls."
"Correction. They were your Dragon Balls," said Evergreen with a chuckle. "Unfortunately not anymore."
Bickslow nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Shorty took them right from under your nose. Too bad."
Zarbon immediately flew outside to try to locate the Prince. But he couldn't find him anywhere.
"Frieza my Lord. Is, is he perhaps still on the ship?"
"This is your mess, you find him," said Frieza angrily.
The screen showed Vegeta hiding behind a huge rock.
Vegeta chuckled as walked into the lake. "If I know these two imbeciles they'll expect me to fly by air. But I wasn't born yesterday," thought the Prince as he dived under water.
Marakov stroked his beard. "He certainly is a clever one, that Vegeta. Using his knowledge what he knows about his enemies against them. In the pickle he was in I thought for sure he would get caught."
"Me too," said Gildarts. "But he stayed calm the entire time while analyzing what his best move would be. And he executed it perfectly."
Laxus couldn't help but nod at that. "Yeah. Even though I think he is a bastard. I must admit. That was a very good idea."
The screen went back to Frieza's ship. Where Zarbon was kneeling in front of an angry tyrant.
"Absolutely unacceptable," said Frieza angrily as he swung his tail against the floor. "You let Vegeta and my precious bounty slip through your fingers in one fell swoop. It's unthinkable that he could have escaped with all 5 Dragon Balls in a twinkling of an eye. I will conduct my own search of the ship's interior. You however will comb the surrounding areas for all your worth."
"Sir," said Zarbon with a nod.
"If Vegeta is not standing in front of me within the hour. The only thing to calm my wrath is your life, understood?"
Zarbon swallowed nervously. "Understood."
The mages frowned at Frieza's words.
"That bastard. Threatening to kill his subordinate like that," said Natsu with a glare. "It makes me so angry."
"Yes, Natsu," said Lisanna with a frown. "I think everyone feels like that. To think that such an evil person exists. It's making my skin crawl."
Lucy shuddered. "That maniac's eyes are so full of evil intent. It makes me want to puke."
The next scene showed Gohan who was looking for the Dragon Ball. He was now walking around a destroyed Namekian village. The mages frowned sadly when they saw the destroyed homes and dead Namekians. This was Vegeta's handiwork, no doubt in their minds.
"Uh? This way," said Gohan surprised. "It's not inside the houses?" Gohan smiled. "Oh, I get it. Not even Vegeta would have looked at the bottom of the lake, it's perfect, of course."
The mages couldn't help but chuckle at Gohan's innocent answer.
"Oh, Gohan. You're such a sweetheart," said Mira with a loving smile.
Gohan dived into the lake and not soon after. He returned to the surface with a large Dragon ball in his hands.
"I found you," said Gohan with a grin.
"Way to go kid," said Gajeel with a thumbs up. "Nice work. Now he only has to make his way back to Bulma. And with Krillin's Dragon Ball, he got from that elder guy. They will have two in their possession."
The others nodded at that. The screen now began to show Vegeta who had resurfaced. He breathed harshly from having to hold his breath for so long. As he began to look around. He finally found his reward.
"Perfect," said Vegeta with a chuckle. "I throw a mean curveball if I do happen to say so myself. The only thing Frieza pitching now is a fit. I got you right where I want you don't I, you bastard."
"Oh, boy. He certainly is in a happy mood," said Lucy with a sigh. "Getting those Dragon Balls from Frieza must have made his day."
Canna snorted. "If you ask me I wished the bastard had drowned. I can't stand seeing that jackass so happy."
Everyone sweatdropped at that.
"All I need to do is to collect the one that is safely underwater. And I am one step away from having all seven."
The mages smirked at that. "Won't he be surprised when he finds out that it's not there anymore," said Lisanna with a chuckle.
Vegeta's eyes suddenly widened when he felt a strong power approaching.
"Somebody is headed this way. Someone powerful. It's not Zarbon. The power level is far too low."
The mage's eyes widened in shock.
"Oh no. It must be Krillin. Vegeta must have sensed him," said Wendy Worried.
"That idiot. He must be concentrated on his new powers so much that he even forgot that Vegeta could sense him," said Gajeel with a sigh.
And he was right. It was Krillin. Happily flying through the air without a care in the world.
Vegeta's eyes widened. "It can't be. It's that wretched Earthling. Wait? What is he doing on planet Namek? And what in the world is he doing with a Dragon Ball?" Vegeta laughed. "Evidently today is the day fortune decides to smile on me."
Vegeta powered up and flew after our beloved monk.
"This is the worst-case scenario," said Fried while rubbing his head. "The only thing that can make it even worse is if Zarbon locates both of them."
Unfortunately, for Fried that exactly happened.
"You just had to jinx it, didn't you," said Bickslow with a sigh.
Now both Vegeta and Zarbon were following Krillin. But Vegeta noticed that someone was following him.
"Another power level closing in on me. That's got to be Zarbon surely. He couldn't leave me alone," said the Prince annoyed. Vegeta smirked. "Still, I shouldn't complain. I get to kill two birds with one stone. He's bound to be so frazzled after our last encounter that his guard will be down. This really is my lucky day."
"Does he really think he is strong enough to kill Zarbon? I mean. He completely destroyed him last time," said Lucy curious.
"Maybe so. But remember, Lucy. Not only do Saiyans become stronger after healing from a big fight. But knowing Vegeta. He will probably take advantage of Zarbon's anger. It's important to keep your head calm in a fight. But right now. I doubt Zarbon is thinking straight," said Erza with a frown.
Gildarts nodded. "Yes. Right now. Vegeta has the advantage. And knowing him, he will do anything to win this fight. Even fighting dirty."
"So unmanly," said Elfman with a snort.
Krillin landed before a terrified Bulma. But when the woman found out it was Krillin she got angry fast.
"What the hell is wrong with you? You're trying to kill me?"
The mages would have chuckled at Bulma's outburst if the situation they were in wasn't so dire. But right now. They were too worried about their safety.
"I thought we all agreed you stayed inside the cave. I mean I know you like to read and all. But you're gonna get spotted out here."
Krillin had a point. But they had to admit that Bulma was very brave for someone who didn't fight.
Bulma snorted. "Whatever. I've only been out here like two seconds." Bulma's mood shifted when she saw the ball in Krillin's hands. "Oh, is that what I think it is? You actually found one," said Bulma with a smile.
Krillin chuckled. "Pretty neat, huh?"
Bulma was amazed. "Wow. I guess the homegrown variety are lot bigger than we used to."
"Guys, please. You all need to get out of there. Krillin should be able to sense Vegeta's approach," said Lisanna worriedly.
Laxus sighed. "Under normal circumstances yes. But all of his attention is on his new awakened powers."
"That idiot," said Grey annoyed. "They need to move. C'mon Krillin."
But unfortunately for Grey. Krillin didn't hear him.
"You should have seen the Grand Elder. Turns out he is pretty cool. Oh, but that is just the start. Gohan is still inside, right? He and I have a little trip to make back to the Grand Elder's place. You not gonna believe what this old guy can do."
"Uh, yeah. About that. He's kinda off on his own at the moment. A Dragon Ball popped up on the radar near that village that Vegeta was attacking and he went to go look for it."
"Please tell me you are joking."
Krillin's eyes widened when he suddenly felt a huge power nearly on top of them.
"There's an energy right on top of us. And it is huge."
"Yeah. And could have sensed it a lot sooner if your head wasn't in the clouds," said Gajeel annoyed.
Levi sighed. But didn't say anything further. Gajeel had a point. If Krillin hadn't been so preoccupied with his new strength. He could have easily sensed Vegeta and avoided all of this. But it was too late now.
Bulma smiled. "Gohan? That didn't take very long."
"No, we're not that lucky," said Krillin a bit frightened.
When the individual landed. The two gained scared looks.
"It's Vegeta."
"He must have followed me. I was so pumped of getting stronger I didn't even notice," thought Krillin angrily at himself.
Erza frowned sadly. "Poor Krillin. He must be pretty angry at himself. A warrior should always keep their senses up. Especially on a planet where the enemy can attack you at any time's notice."
Marakov nodded. "True. Let's hope those two survive this encounter. It will be a good lesson for him afterward."
"Heh, fancy our paths crossing here Earthling," said Vegeta with a frown. "I never would have expected your kind capable of interstellar flight given the state of your civilization. But judging by the Dragon Ball you're clutching so tightly there. It appears you've come all this way for the same reason I did."
Natsu glared at the Prince. "They may have come to Namek for the Dragon Balls like you. But unlike you. Their wish isn't a selfish one."
The mages nodded in agreement at Natsu's words.
Vegeta smirked. "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. It's up to you. Now, the two of you can choose to stay put here while I attend some unfinished business. Or you can try to run and make this much uglier." Vegeta turned his head. "And it seems like we have a guest."
When Zarbon suddenly appeared. The mages sweatdropped at Bulma's words.
"Oh, he's cute. With a face like that, he must be one of the good guys."
Mira frowned. "Believe me Bulma. I doubt you he is your type. And I doubt Yamcha would approve of you flirting with another guy."
Lisanna agreed with her sister's words.
"I wouldn't count on it," said Krillin with a frown. "Can this be any worse?"
"What are you talking about? He's gorgeous," said Bulma with a grin.
"Have you lost your mind," said Krillin annoyed. "Ever hear of not judging a book by its covers?"
"For real," said Gray with a snort. "This girl falls in love way too easily."
Canna chuckled. "Hey, if saw a hunk like that I would probably act that way too."
Lucy smirked. "Oh? But don't you already have your eyes on Goku?"
Canna blushed at first. But she soon grinned. "Of course I do. That guy is going to be mine soon enough." She glared at a certain redhead. "No matter who it is I have to face."
Erza smirked. "Challenge accepted, Canna."
The two glared at each other.
The mages sweatdropped at the scene. Except Mira. She gained an annoyed look. She didn't know why though.
"Well, yeah," said Bulma with a smile. "But, I mean. Just look at those eyes."
"Just trust me. I don't have to look at his eyes," said Krillin.
"I'm sorry. What were you saying," said Bulme with a dreamy look.
Krillin sighed. "You have no taste in boyfriends Bulma, seriously."
"Oh my," said Evergreen with a chuckle. "Don't let Yamcha hear you say that Krillin. I doubt he would be happy to hear that."
"Aye," said Happy with a snicker.
"Interesting. You make me look the fool and all you can do is just stand there," said Zarbon with a smirk. The Frieza soldier looked in Krillin's direction. "Ah, I recognize Baldy. A new friend you made since you got here, perhaps?"
Krillin nervously took a few steps back. But Bulma began to wave at Zarbon.
"Hey, big boy. Over here. Just so you know I'm rooting for ya."
The mages slapped their heads at Bulma's advances toward Zarbon.
"This girl," said Charla annoyed. "Doesn't she realize what danger she is in?"
"I doubt it," said Wendy with a sigh.
Vegeta smiled at Bulma's words. "You've got a Fanclub."
"That's right. Have a laugh then. You have absolutely no idea how much I'm going to enjoy watching Lord Frieza put that mouth of yours through the ringer. One way or another. You will tell us where the remaining Dragon balls are."
"Oh, is that a fact," said Vegeta calmly.
Zarbon got annoyed at Vegeta's calm attitude. "That's enough."
The battle had begun. Zarbon jumped at Vegeta and tried to hit him. But Vegeta dodged it easily and flew into the air. As Zarbon followed him. The Saiyan fired multiple blasts at him. Zarbon evaded the blasts however and appeared above Vegeta. He fired a purple blast at the Prince. But the Saiyan deflected it with a blast of his own. But that was al Zarbon needed to get the first hit in.
"He got him," said Lucy surprised. "And he isn't even transformed yet."
Gildarts frowned. "Could be that he is holding back. Or maybe he got careless for a bit. But I doubt this is over yet."
"I had it with you," said Zarbon angrily as he fired another blast at Vegeta.
But the Prince dodged it this time and maneuvered above Frieza's lackey. And used his right foot to give a powerful kick on Zarbon's face. As the green-haired warrior landed on the ground. He ran at Vegeta to try to kick him. But Zarbon's eyes widened when disappeared and landed a few feet behind him.
"Wow. He certainly has gotten faster," said Gajeel impressed.
Elfman frowned. "Dammit. I can't follow Vegeta's moves anymore. He might have become equal in speed as Zarbon when he transforms."
Natsu frowned. "Yes. But, he might still be holding back."
"He's gotten limber," thought Zarbon annoyed.
Vegeta chuckled. "Don't hold back for my sake, please," said Vegeta with a smirk.
Zarbon glared at the Prince and transformed. Both Krillin and Bulma got frightened when they saw Zarbon's transformation.
"Ok, you win. He's a bad guy," said Bulma terrified.
"His energy just went straight through the roof. This is bad. Really, really bad," said Krillin scared.
As the fight continued. The mages saw how Vegeta used a dirty tactic. By tossing small pieces of dirt in Zarbon's eyes that blinded him. Vegeta then appeared behind the alien and gave a devastating punch to his back. He followed up by appearing above him. And struck him with his two fists making Zarbon fly into the lake with a big splash.
Canna snorted. "Really? Fighting dirty? What a coward."
Gildarts frowned. "This is a fight to the death Canna. I doubt Vegeta cares about fighting fair in this situation."
The girl snorted. "So what? I still think he's a bastard. And Zarbon too."
Everyone chuckled at that.
As the fight was nearing its end. Krillin and Bulma tried to escape. But Vegeta noticed it. And blasted several blasts in front of them that stopped them in their tracks.
"Dammit. Vegeta had to notice it. This was their chance," said Fried annoyed.
"I doubt Vegeta will let them escape that easily," said Bickslow with a sigh.
The screen changed for a moment to Gohan. The boy was flying back towards Bulma's location.
Gohan frowned. "There's a ton of energy. It's coming right from where I left Bulma. I better hurry."
"Be careful kid," thought Laxus a bit worried.
The screen changed back to the fight. The two warriors were having a standoff by the looks of it.
"How dare you," said Zarbon angrily. "You bastard."
Vegeta chuckled. "Wow, you don't look so good. Our little scuffle appears to be taking quite a toll on you. Forgive me for saying so. But I don't think you last much longer at this rate."
The mages had to agree with Vegeta's words. Zarbon looked to be far more damaged than him.
"Is that what you think," said Zarbon with a laugh. "A comedian to the very end I see. Your power pales in comparison to mine."
"How awkward. I thought you of all people would be acquainted with Saiyans enough to know the serious trouble you're in right now," said Vegeta with a smirk. "You were foolish to treat me so carelessly knowing our fight had left me at death's door. Weren't you?"
Zarbon got angry at Vegeta's words.
"When a Saiyan recovers from the kind of damage you dished out to me old friend. He'll only become that much more powerful."
"Yeah, yeah. We get it," said Grey with an annoyed look. "You get stronger when somebody kicks your ass."
"You have to admit it's a powerful ability to have," said Juvia with a thoughtful look.
"Way overpowered if you ask me," said Gray with a sigh. "But I gotta admit. If I was able to wish for something. I would probably wish for the same ability."
Gildarts chuckled. "I think many of us would."
"Of course, that's it," said Krillin in realization. "That's how Goku was able to get so much stronger after each battle he lost. So, then… exactly how powerful is Vegeta now?"
"I would say above's Zarbon at this point," said Laxus with a thoughtful look. "Don't know by how much though."
Marakov stroked his beard in thought. "Maybe somewhere around 33000 perhaps. Maybe even higher. That is certainly a high increase in strength."
Erza nodded at that.
"I don't care how much stronger you got," said Zarbon annoyed. "Scum like you can come back from the abyss a hundred times over. And not be one-tenth as mighty as I am in my present form." The green monster ran towards Vegeta.
"I'LL SHOW YOU HOW YOUR MIGHT COMPARES TO THAT OF A SAIYAN," yelled Vegeta proudly.
They began to trade blows again. But this time. It was Vegeta who had the upper hand. With his newfound strength and speed. He landed a number of serious blows. And ended the fight with a devastating blow to Zarbon's gut that penetrated his flesh.
The mages sighed.
"Well, guess Vegeta has won this fight," said Gildarts with a frown.
Marakov nodded. "Yes. He may have lost the first time. But getting back to full health and getting that zenkai. He obviously has surpassed Zarbon's transformation."
"V-vegeta," said Zarbon painfully. "I-I was only following Frieza's orders. I beg you. Have mercy."
But Vegeta got annoyed. "After all the years of being spat on and taunted by you, I'm expecting to show you mercy?"
"Hear me out," said Zarbon weakly. "If we join, together we can prevail over Frieza."
"I doubt that is going to work, pal," said Gray with a sweatdrop.
Gajeel nodded. "Yep. Knowing Vegeta. He certainly will end him just like he did that oversized balloon, Dodoria."
And of course, they were right. Vegeta let out a powerful blast that went through him. Killing the mighty Zarbon once and for all.
Wendy frowned sadly. Seeing people getting killed over and over again. It certainly wasn't getting easier to witness. She really needed a break. And just as the young girl thought that. The familiar voice of the storyteller could be heard.
"Vegeta's strength seems to have reached new heights. Now, stronger than ever. Vegeta has set his eyes on Bulma and Krillin. Will they survive this encounter? Find out, next time."
The mages frowned sadly. They hoped they did.
Wendy sighed tiredly. "I really need a break from all of this."
Charla nodded in agreement. "Couldn't agree more child. Let's get something to eat and take some rest."
Marakov yawned tiredly. "Good plan. I'm also in need of a good nap right now."
Malia smiled. "Fine by me. You know where the dining room is by now. Let me just know when you all want to continue the reaction."
They nodded as they all stood up and walked towards the dining hall.
