Hi, I was inspired to write this while rewatching Hellsing Ultimate Abridged (As is my Halloween tradition) and rereading an old Code Geass fic known as "Code Hellsing" that hadn't been updated since 2016. This fic is not labeled as a crossover, but it will feature characters from Hellsing by Kohta Hirano. Admittedly it is mostly just me being greedy since I know the fic would not gain as much traction if I just leave it in the crossover section due to how niche Hellsing is compared to some other series.
Regardless, I Hope you all enjoy it.
Running through the halls of his family's manor, Lelouch felt his heart beat through his chest with each step he took. The Young Prince ran with fear in his eyes and a cautious ear to the halls around him. He had to see the scene one more time before both he and his sister would be sent to Japan, he had to see where his mother died, see if there was anything they had missed.
Yet as he stepped into the fourer, he was met with a pair of men in suits. The moment their eyes met, the men pulled out guns. Lelouch was forced to run for his life, he had to fight against the burning of his legs and the aching of his legs. There was one thought that echoed in his mind as he ran through his old home; If he died, Nunnally would be left alone.
He didn't doubt for a second that his Sperm Donor would send Nunnally to Japan alone.
So he had to live, if not for his own sake, than for his sister's.
Lelouch stopped, bracing his back against a wall and covering his mouth with his hands. He could hear the slow steps of the two suits as they wandered the halls nearby.
"How do you lose a kid, he looked like a damn twig?" one of them spouted.
'Don't you lay this on me, you saw him first," the other argued.
"I mean, why the hell was he here?" the first almost shouted.
"You saw his hair right, you think he might be?" The second one asked.
"Even if he is her brat, it doesn't matter, the Emperor himself declared him dead," The first one said.
Lelouch felt his heart jump in his chest as a shiver ran down his spine. Slowly, he began gliding against the wall, moving away from the noise of the two suits arguing. His eyes glanced back and forth as he realized where he was within the manor. He recognized the hallway, it was one of the few places in the manor that Mother had forbade them from wandering down. He remembered hearing that even servants and guards were forbidden from wandering through the hallway unless they were patrolling or cleaning respectively.
Crinkle.
Lelouch froze as his eyes wandered down to the source of the noise. A part of the wallpaper had shifted, the frame of some kind of door was now present under the broken wallpaper. He could hear the two suits approaching, without a doubt tipped off by the sound of wallpaper. Lelouch barely had the energy to run, he had to take a risk. With little care for the consequences, Lelouch peeled back the rest of the wallpaper. An open hole rested to the right of the now-revealed door. Lelouch reached in, letting out a strained gasp as the mechanism within the door struck against his fingers. He pulled his hand back as the door opened, ignoring the red now coating his digits as he rushed in.
He was struck with his momentary lapse in judgment as he found himself tumbling down a long flight of stairs. He barely had enough time to tuck his head in as he was struck by the stairs several times. Pain began to wreck across his body as he felt a final hit knock the air out of his lungs. His eyes took in the room around him, the only source of light being the lights wafting in from the door. Lelouch strained himself, pushing his body to stand back up. He found himself in a strange room, a tall bookcase rested at one side of the room, while a strange figure, no a corpse sat limp at the other side.
"Of all things, hiding a murder?" Lelouch muttered as he stood up. The corpse was dressed in a black leather straight jacket, its arms locked into its sides and its face was covered by white hair. Lelouch began to walk towards the bookcase before a loud bang and a stabbing pain in his shoulder sent him back to the floor.
"How the hell did she hide this?" The first of the suits asked as he began walking down the stairs.
"Why are you asking that? you know that all nobles have hidden rooms," The second suit replied, following the first.
"Still, a place like this..." The First one said while gesturing to the room around them.
"Or that," The second one said as he aimed his pistol at the corpse resting against the wall.
Lelouch's eyes widened, his teeth grit in pain while his hand rested on the bullet hole in his shoulder.
"Ah well, this will just make it easier to hide his body," The second said as he turned to face Lelouch. The First said nothing as they both aimed their guns right at Lelouch. Lelouch stared at them, his eyes wide and fear infesting his form.
'I'm sorry Nunally,' He apologized as he looked the two suits in the eyes.
Before either suit could fire, a sound akin to sandpaper scraping against stone stole their attention. Lelouch's eyes widened greater than they had before as he watched the corpse, previously still, lapping against a pool of blood on the floor. Lelouch's eyes wandered along the pool, trailing it back to the hole in his shoulder.
"What the fuck?" The first suit whispered as he leveled his gun at the corpse. The horrid slurping noise as the corpse drank up the last of the blood ceased as the corpse glared at him with blood-red eyes. In the blink of an eye, the corpse now held him with spindly hands and sharpened claws. The Second suit's eyes widened as the Corpse bit off the head of the First suit. No one moved as the Corpse drank the blood that now sprayed from the First Suit's open neck.
"Screw This!" The second suit shouted as he ran for the stairs.
Lelouch heard a wet splat as the suit fell to the floor, one leg broken while the other was now held in the corpse's hand. Lelouch pulled himself to his feet as he watched the corpse devour the leg of the second suit. Their eyes met, red almost pierced purple as the corpse now stood in front of him. The corpse sniffed the air before his eyes narrowed at Lelouch.
"Oh, Marianne's boy..." The figure spoke with a deep voice.
"Who... Who are you?" Lelouch asked as he fought to suppress his fear.
"Me?... oh, ah, such a shame, lost before your big day," The figure mused.
"Big... Day?" Lelouch prattled.
"On your thirteenth birthday, your mother would have shown you this room and its purpose," The figure said as he stood tall and put a hand on his bleeding shoulder.
"It's purpose?" Lelouch inquired, his eyes narrowed at the figure as the pain began to fade.
"It is a sacred duty of the Hellsing Family to eliminate the monsters that dwell in the shadows of the world," The figure stated.
"Hellsing, but we are of Family Lamperouge?" Lelouch asked as he now stood up, trying to stare eye to-eye at the figure.
"Your great-grandfather was of Lamperouge, but your great-grandmother carried the title of Hellsing," The figure explained.
"So, you serve my family?" Lelouch inquired.
"If it is your desire, young lord?" The figure asked.
Lelouch stood quiet for a moment, his mind racing through its options. "What is your name?" Lelouch asked.
"I am known as The No-Life King, The Bird of Hermes, and many other titles, but you may call me Alucard," Alucard stated.
"If you served my family, then you now serve me," Lelouch stated. 'Britannia killed my mother, maimed my sister, tried to kill me,' Lelouch speculated. 'That Bastard talks about the rule of the strong, the need to kill and cannibalize the weak, now I have a monster at my side,' Lelouch narrowed his eyes at Alucard.
"I see, what is your order, my Master?" Alucard asked. Lelouch looked him over before his gaze turned to the second suit desperately trying to drag his body up the stairs. His eyes then turned to the gun dropped by the first suit. No words were spoken as Alucard's hand grasped the fallen pistol and held it out to him. Lelouch took hold of it and leveled the weapon at the second suit.
"No..." The second suit weakly begged, his pistol shakingly raised against Lelouch. The second suit fired first, only for Alucard's arm to take the bullet instead of Lelouch. Lelouch scowled as he held his pistol over the straight arm of the monster in front of him.
"Don't move," Lelouch said sternly before he fired. The second suit fell limply, blood now leaking from the hole in his skull.
"A fine kill," Alucard commented as Lelouch felt his legs give out. Alucard held the boy in his arms, the gun now on the floor.
"I need medical attention," Lelouch said as the blood loss began to catch up with him.
"Who do you trust?" Alucard inquired.
"Ashford..." Lelouch trailed off as Alucard began to walk up the stairs, stepping past the corpse of the second suit. Lelouch began to fade in and out of consciousness, darkness engulfing his gaze.
The last thing he saw before darkness took him was the sight of the wall swallowing up the door, as though it was never there.
"Are you sure this will be fine Lelouch?" Nunnally asked as Lelouch began carrying her up the stairs of the Kururugi estate.
"I'm sure, Vlad is carrying your wheelchair just behind us," Lelouch said as his gaze turned to their third member. Vlad was a rather tall and imposing figure dressed in a long coat over a dress suit with piercing eyes and a wide-brimmed hat that covered his head.
"Just be careful, please?" Nunnally begged in a light tone as Vlad let out a short chuckle.
"Worry not, Young Mistress, Lelouch can handle the stairs just fine," Vlad commented as they began their trek upwards. Nunnally kept her grip on Lelouch's shoulders as they made for the top, the stairs parting to reveal the Kururugi estate, three people stood out front waiting for them. Lelouch could recognize the Elder Kururugi and his son from pictures and newspapers, while the third figure was a tall man with sharp eyes.
"Ah, welcome Lelouch and Nunnally Vi Britannia," Prime Minister Kururugi greeted them with a bow, his son frowning for a moment before he copied his father.
'Thank you for welcoming us," Lelouch said as he gave them his own bow. Vlad set the wheelchair on the ground before he followed suit.
"Ah, I was not informed that you would be bringing a servant?" The Elder Kururugi inquired as he now stood up.
"Vlad is a trusted servant, here to aid Nunnally in her recovery," Lelouch half lied as they all stood up and the ache in his shoulder returned. Vlad wordlessly helped Nunnally from Lelouch's back and set her in her wheelchair.
"I see, Suzaku could you show them where they'll be staying?" The Elder Kururugi asked his son. The now-named Suzaku huffed before gesturing for them to follow.
Lelouch's gaze turned back to Vlad; 'Don't kill him, we are guests in his home,' Lelouch instructed as Vlad's fist clenched. The three of them followed the younger Kururugi past the house, walking along the forest near the estate. They stopped as Suzaku opened one of the back sheds on the edge of the property.
"Your visit was on short notice so we haven't prepared the house yet," Suzaku said bluntly.
"I see," Lelouch commented as he felt Vlad's anger growling at the back of his mind. The shed had been emptied, with a few small tables and a pair of small beds with no blankets resting on one side, though the shed was in poor condition. 'Calm yourself, it would create a stir if you killed the Prime Minister or his son,' Lelouch commanded.
"How does it look, big brother?" Nunnally asked.
"It's a nice place, with soft beds and a full bookshelf," Lelouch lied.
Suzaku glared at Lelouch, opening his mouth to speak, only for Vlads to silence him with a glare. "Both The Young Master and Young Mistress have been through great turmoil and strife in the homeland, do not add to it," Vlad warned. Suzaku looked to Lelouch, then looked to Nunnally and guilt began to worm its way on his face.
"My apologies," Suzaku said.
"It's fine, come on Nunnally," Lelouch said as Vlad rolled Nunnally's wheelchair into the shed. He watched as Suzaku walked away, his face full of conflict. The door to the shed shut and Vlad growled in an animalistic tone as shadows consumed his form.
"Vlad.. what if someone hears you?" Nunnally asked as she rested her hands on her lap. It was a hard reality for Lelouch, that Nunnally would be aware of just what "Vlad" truly is. She was even aware of his presence in Lelouch's shadow when Lelouch first stepped into her hospital room after that fateful night. Thankfully, any concern of his about Alucard harming her had been squashed by the fact that she too carried the blood of Hellsing. His only hope is that she would never have to take up the mission of the Hellsing Family.
"My apologies, Young Mistress, much of their actions have irked me," Alucard said as his form finished shifting.
"The shed isn't that nice is it?" Nunnally asked, her blind gaze turning to Lelouch.
"No.. but we have a roof over our heads and we're far away from Britannia for the time being," Lelouch said as he leaned down to grasp Nunnally's hands.
"Do you think Euphie and Nelly will be Ok?" Nunnally inquired.
"They'll be fine, Cornelia will keep those snakes from trying anything with Euphie," Lelouch said.
"Do you think we'll see Milly again?" Nunnally asked.
"Hopefully," Lelouch said as he turned to Alucard shifting the furniture in the shed. Soft fabrics now rested on the beds, the walls were now reinforced by pieces of the excess tables, and the holes in the roof were sealed. "Thank you," Lelouch said as a small well of shadows took up the center of the room.
"It is my pleasure, Young Master," Alucard said as his coffin and several boxes now rested within the shed. "Now, I must head out for a short time, stay out of trouble," Alucard warned before he melted into the shadows.
"Please stay safe?" Nunnally asked as the shadows faded away from the room.
"He will be Nunnally, don't worry," Lelouch said as he looked through the few boxes Alucard had brought into the room. He stopped as he pulled out a book written in Braille from one of the boxes. "Come on, he brought some of your gifts with him," Lelouch said as he moved Nunnally's wheelchair next to him. She gave him a small smile as Lelouch opened the book and held it open for her.
Lelouch watched as the fire consumed the Kururugi estate. Nunnally was silent in his arms as Suzaku just looked on numbly. The sheer heat bathed their forms as no one spoke a word. The only sound which could be heard other than the roar of the fire was the faint crunching of bones and flesh in the background.
"Alucard?" Lelouch called as the sound of the fire grew worse.
"Yes, Young Master?" Alucard asked as Suzaku flinched at the vampire's sudden appearance.
"Are there any more hostiles?" Lelouch asked.
"None left," Alucard replied bluntly.
"Then we must leave," Lelouch said as he turned away from the burning estate.
"I understand, allow me to carry her," Alucard said as he approached the pair. Lelouch allowed Alucard to take hold of Nunnally as Suzaku took one last look at the burning estate.
"They did this, knowing you were here?" he asked while looking to Lelouch.
"The Emporer declared us dead long before we arrived at Japan," Lelouch said.
"And what of him?" Suzaku asked as he turned his gaze to Alucard.
"He is something else, one from my mother's line," Lelouch answered as they began to leave. He took several steps before he turned back to look at Suzaku. "Well, are you coming with us?" Lelouch asked as Alucard stood next to him. Suzaku took one final look at the burning remains of the estate, no words were said before he turned back to the group and began following after them.
