CHAPTER 1

Hurricane

Being the offspring of an Animus, Hurricane had somehow inherited the gene. He hadn't asked to be an Animus, and yet fate had made the decision for him. His grandmother, Queen Coral, was absolutely delighted to hear the news of it all.

Things were apparently very different thirty years ago; when he wasn't even an egg yet; there was a war for the SandWing throne, some NightWing ghost story named Darkstalker returned to terrorize Pyrrhia, and they discovered Pantala.

Both of his parents insisted that he stay in the rainforest; away from the dangers of the ocean. But Coral had apparently begged and begged for him to visit the Deep Palace every few months; she denied this whenever he asked about it of course.

All of his uncles were the first ones to welcome Hurricane into the Kingdom of the Sea, he had previously met his aunt; Tsunami, his other aunts stayed within the confines of the ocean.

And now; in the dead of the night, every dragon was asleep, including his wife, Attis.

Both Hurricane and Attis had taken interest in the humans of Pyrrhia, they seemed so very intelligent, and every once in a while; he could have a nice conversation with one just outside his hut.

Hurricane had always wanted to see what exactly life was like for the humans before The Scorching happened, if they were bold enough to steal a dragon egg; they must have been pretty advanced.

He and his brother Cyclone had always been very close, they would follow each other anywhere in Pyrrhia or Pantala, even the fictional worlds within the scrolls they read, which was completely possible.

Hurricane couldn't sleep; plagued by blurry thoughts of nothing and everything, so he decided to take a walk outside to clear his head a little bit.

What he hadn't expected though; was that Cyclone was thinking the same thing.

"Hey, what are you doing up? I thought I was the only one," Cyclone asked.

"I cannot sleep."

"Same here."

"I've had a thought..."

"Oh?"

"Remember how I mentioned that it would be cool to see a world ruled by humans?"

"Yes... Where are you going with this?"

"What if we actually went there?"

"SeaWing-RainWing hybrid dragons... going to a realm ruled by humans..."

"Yes."

Hurricane thought about it for a moment, they'd need to look like humans but a carefully worded spell could take care of both things - the portal and the disguises, no big deal, it's not like his soul would disappear, he'd done a few spells before and the soul reader that Qibli gave his family said his soul was perfectly good and it was only black sand.

"Fine, we can explore for a few days then we come right back home," Hurricane finally said.

"Yes, perfect, good plan, should we tell Attis?" Cyclone asked.

Yes, Hurricane knew the reaction that he'd get from her if he returned if he didn't tell her where he went; he was terrified of that scowl, it haunted his nightmares.

"I should write her a note about where to find us, shouldn't I?" Hurricane asked.

"Isn't that obvious?" Cyclone asked.

Hurricane walked back into the hut and saw the sleeping body of Attis and an empty scroll.

"Dear Attis, Cyclone and I are venturing to new lands, if we are not back in a week; come find us, you'll find a rip near the NightWing island or on it, open that.
-All my love to you, Hurricane. P.S. This was Cyclone's idea."

He left it beside Attis and returned to his brother outside.

"So, where are we going, I trust you have a location in mind for opening a portal to another realm?" Cyclone asked.

"Island tunnel, let's go."

They kept low to the ground and traveled to where hurricane told Attis to find the rip in the world, traveling to another reality was nothing to joke about.

Hurricane could've sworn that he heard leaves rustling above him, even though none of them were actually in the trees, unless... No, they wouldn't follow two random dragons when they could be sleeping, probably just a bird.

"Haha, we'll be famous for this: 'Bravest explorers of their time; Cyclone and Hurricane, using just a little Animus magic to get there and becoming the most loved dragons in Pyrrhia and Pantala combined!' We'll be forever in the history scrolls as heroes - like the Dragonets of Destiny thirty years ago!" Cyclone said, Hurricane couldn't help but chuckle.

"Sure, as long as the scrolls document your overenthusiasm about the whole ordeal," Hurricane said.

"Yes, yes, alright, when do we start?" Cyclone asked impatiently.

"Just let me think of how to word it," Hurricane replied.

A/N: Wow, the grown dragonets of Turtle and Kinkajou coming to our world, that can't end well.
