The sun rises over New Eridu as Elijah and Zhu Yuan rest peacefully. After a long week at work, they're both eager for the opportunity to sleep in with one another and cherish their relationship despite the current hardships of the world.

Yawning as he sits up in the bed, Elijah stretches his arms, looking down at Zhu. He smiles softly, appreciating the natural beauty of his wife. He gets out of the bed and goes into the bathroom to splash some water on his face, a typical morning. But Elijah's got some plans for Zhu that he never told her about.

Zhu wakes up a few minutes later, expecting to find Elijah lying in the bed with her. Finding he's not there, however, she looks around. "Elijah?" she asks.

"Yeah?" he calls back from the kitchen.

"Are you surprising me with one of your famous breakfasts?"

"Maybe..."

"You know me too well!" Zhu says before heading back into their bedroom.

About 30 minutes later, Zhu emerges from the shower in her typical home outfit (author's note: SAME AS IN HER OFFICIAL EPISODE), peeking her head back into the kitchen before gasping. Just like she's come to rely on from Elijah, it's a beautiful stack of pancakes, bacon, hash browns, and cheese-topped scrambled eggs.

"Ok, that's beautiful," she says, looking at Elijah. "But it's a bit excessive for the weekend, don't you think?"

"We've been going out for burgers from the burger joint close to work every night," Elijah counterjects. "And the fridge was a bit full."

"Okay, that's a good argument," Zhu says, sitting down. "I also guess it's because I miss your cooking so much."

Elijah chuckles a bit. "Honestly, I'm just glad to be back at home after a week at work. Public Security's nice but it gets exhausting pretty quickly with all the paperwork and whatnot."

"It's worse for me in Criminal Investigations, babe," Zhu says, treating herself to some breakfast. "I'm grateful you're allowed to even come with me on patrols. Now I don't need to hear Seth talking about family issues or Qingyi's comments about recent criminals we dealt with."

"What about Jane?" Elijah replies, loading his plate up.

"She's not been in the field recently. I'm surprised she manages to deal with all the office work we've got going on, but I have heard rumors of her having been undercover cop."

"That's definitely intriguing. And I can see why Jane might keep that a secret. SWAT's just been a lot of paperwork and drills exactly by the book recently."

"I want to go back into a Hollow and do something entertaining, like fight more gangs or uncover another conspiracy."

"I'm not blaming you."

After breakfast, Elijah and Zhu decide to head on down to Lumina Square to take care of errands they had been postponing that week, such as renewing paperwork, filing out taxes, visiting old friends, and getting a treat.

Zhu and Elijah did discuss the idea of heading to Sixth Street to talk to the Random Play managers, Belle and Wise, but decided to postpone it instead, wanting to enjoy their weekend off.

Zhu yawns as she snuggles up to Elijah on the couch, looking up at him. "You're still as handsome since the day I met you," she says, giving him a kiss on his cheek.

Elijah smiles, looking back at her. "I keep replaying that day in my mind a lot. Probably because I was a very lucky man that day," he replies.

"You were a very lucky man. I was a very lucky woman myself, ignoring the failing to catch a dangerous criminal part."

"What exactly went through your head when you saw me catch him?"

"I thought you were an off-duty PubSec officer."

Elijah chuckles a little bit as he kisses Zhu. "I love you," he giggles.

"I love you too," Zhu giggles back, kissing him on his forehead. "So... do you wanna watch a movie or something?"

"Sure," Elijah replies, wrapping his arm around her. "What exactly do you want to watch?"

"I dunno. I mean, I don't mind cuddling on the couch!"

"I'm okay with that!"

Zhu smiles as she snuggles up to Elijah, closing her eyes. "I love you, babe," she whispers.

"I love you too."

Elijah holds her closely, feeling her gently breathing against him. He sighs as he looks at her, appreciating how lucky he was to have her suddenly enter her life at the best possible time for him. Realizing that she's fallen asleep, he chuckles softly as he picks her up and lies down with her in the bed, sighing as he slowly falls asleep alongside her.

The sun slowly sets on New Eridu as they rest, their breathing slow and steady as their love for each other grows rapidly.
