35. Chapter 35

Reaper of Rome chapter 35-fighting back in the background

this chapter will cover how ichigo's actions while apollo and meg battle their way through the burning maze

Leo pov

as we rode on my dragon to camp Jupiter, I wasn't sure we could make it in time with another rider but at the same time Ichigo's van was driving under and then linked up to my dragon and with that things sped up as Ichigo said "by linking with my van we will be able to use the speed drive to arrive sooner than you alone would've been and you dragon will unlink okay when we arrive. It also saves me having to pick the van up later." I just said, "I will need to try and run the numbers later on." but Ichigo said in turn "I am not sure even you can under decode the math involved its stuff from the edges of space that HP Lovecraft wrote about."

I tried to remember what I heard about HP Lovecraft and said back "didn't that guy write about strange fish creatures and a tentacle faced guy that would make long phone calls and run up people's phone bills." But Ichigo said "that's part of it, but from what I can tell everything that guy wrote about is real. But thankfully many of the modern modes keep the insane space gods off earth. My mom told me about it once." I then asked "who is your mother? He then replied, "I don't just have a single mother, I have two one is Misaki Kurosaki and the other is Artemis' roman form Diana and a father named Ishan Kurosaki and two sisters that only have my mostly mortal parents, or mostly mortal my dad is a death god from the Buddhist faction. my mom knows a little more than most gods about the moon and told me a few things." I only replied with "I thought my family was screwy."

I then changed the subject with and asked, "who was that giant friend of yours?" he replied to me "that Renya's younger brother." I only replied with "how did he get so big?" he replied "no idea how but he's part Mexican and part Japanese and from what I understand his dad was part of the Japanese defense army and died in a car crash. He was my friend when I came back to Japan and helped me a lot when I had to fight through the Buddhist land of the dead to save my fiancé."

I then brought up as we were closing in on camp Jupiter "what's your fiancé like?" he replied "she is shorter than that Coach hedge and a daughter of Apollo from a very long time ago. She's a demigod that died very young but got to return to the land of the living in the form of a death god or soul reaper. much like my gather soul reapers have a low level of divinity." Before I could ask more questions, he landed at camp Jupiter in record time. Ichigo pulled out a strange phone and said "we landed in record time. We have a little over a day to set up defenses. Then as he said that the van split from my dragon and then Ichigo dragged me to meet with the praetors and explain an attack was coming very soon.

Frank wanted to set up a party to punch me in the arm over and over, but Ichigo saved me at least until after that the battle and said, "we can do that after the battle." It was after the meeting that Ichigo brought me to gold forge with Suletta and had we help work on my dragon and some weapons until the invasion. In said forging, I very much learned Suletta had no filter and would tell me about more exploits than I ever wished my sister would. she also told me that her machine was the only way New Rome could make more imperial gold and was nearly constantly busy as the forge mistress of the legion, She was happy to have help and said her brother Blaise can barely keep up with her and had no idea about all the things she build including a crazy golden giant robot that she called Ariel.

It was while we worked that the attack came in the form of zombies that could turn people with a scratch alone. But we managed to survive the attack with the help of Ichigo and his team. I was surprised to see all their insane powers and how many the team saved but, in the end, at least a tenth of the campers died and had their bodies taken by the legions of the undead. I saw Ichigo use a gold Samurai sword in battle that was likely made by Suletta to replace the one broken by that crappy emperor. After that came a party at which the campers took turns punching me in the arm and I was kept at camp to help set up more defenses for the next attack to come. Ichigo then said to everyone, the enemy will be back, and we need to prepare more defenses, but I will get help in time to save our city."

After that Ichigo let me stay in his very large house and I got to learn he had a female butler and a very large rabbit. Ichigo told me said rabbit is mostly harmless. After that I knew it would be best to stay at camp Jupiter for a few days to help clean up and prepare for the next line of defense and try to hold off the other zombies still roaming.

Ichigo pov

I didn't know exactly what to do but I knew I had to drive and leave camp. I wasn't even sure where Apollo was exactly, just he would be led to the place he needs to go by a Satyr. But as I drove, I hit a crossroad and found a hitchhiker and part of me knew this person was the person I needed to talk to. I drove to where she was and opened the door to say to hitchhiker. "I have a feeling you have some guidance on how to help me save New Rome Lady Hecate." He replied "oh, yes, I have plenty to tell you young Ichigo. First is the next fight won't just being the zombie army of the last king of Rome but the man who broke your blade and one emperor trying to steal the last godhood apollo has within. Both men have their own monster armies about to lay siege to the city the same time the zombies come."

I just replied to that with "shit." But the goddess said to me "I can provide hope, but it comes with another problem. Do you know what the Christians called Nero in the final book of the bible?" I replied, "with not really, I never got into that." She replied to me "the best of 666 aka beast six, when Nero falls as a god among men, he will rise again as the best he claims does his dirty work. But with that comes hope, as beasts of humanity roam the earth so can their counter be called out to help. I am going to help you summon another grand servant but said help also comes with an order. You can't help Apollo until he reaches New Rome, events need to play out best set up for your grand summoning. As for why, it's because my idiot legacy bending fate and said bent fate must play out. If I tell you know you will want to intervene. I will tell you after it plays out."

She said to me "now swear on the river sticks you wont directly intervene." I then did as she said and with that the goddess said to me "okay, now for the first part of the grand summoning. Since the place isn't ready and its Leylines won't be repaired until the events play out you will need another source of mana for the grand-summoning and a way to store said mana until the time is right. for the storing mana we will use the Tohsaka method and use rare gems. You will need Hazel to get you a Ruby, an emerald, a sapphire, an Amethyst and a black diamond. Then have her filled the black diamond with her magical power. After that meet my daughter at the Waystation and have her fill the Ruby."

With that she filled the GPS in my van with other locations and directions to do at those locations. After the Waystation, I would head to Boston and to a store called Blitzen's Best, then I would have the elf I met named Hearthstone fill the emerald with mana. Then I would go to Brooklyn and to the base of Carter Kane for him to fill the Amethyst and then the final stop would be at camp half blood to have her daughter Lou fill the Saffire with mana.

After that she told me "Take me to DOA Recording Studios I have to broker for the materials to make you a new sword called a Bakkōtō to help you face a god emperor." With that I drove her to LA and heard my goddess patron talk to the man inside and that tell me to head back to camp and deliver the message to Hazel. Then tell Frank and Renya I was beginning to work on defending camp. While I did Hazel found the gems and then filled the gem as told but filling the gem knocked her out. but I had to carry on with my cross-country drive.

After that came the Waystation and explaining to those within that Leo would be gone for a while longer and told my aunt-figure that she would be knocked out for a while due to giving up mana. But she did as tell and told me in exchange "make sure my brothers and sister come to visit me someday."

With that I drove to Boston and learned the elf I had to meet was dear mute and needed his dwarf friend to translate before I could be helped. But I was helped and the next gem filled. Then came driving Brooklyn and had to follow my GPS to a strange house and meet Carter Kane again to get the next gem filled and head to the camp.

But as I got to camp, hunger and tiredness hit me, as I talked to the god and centaur in charge, they agreed to let me stay in my mother's cabin and eat with Nico. After that I had the final gem filled and slept through the night until Hecate contacted me in my dream and said "meet Puck at Xanatos Enterprises headquarters that man will help you deal with the emperors as Puck helps you find you brother and get his aid. Then ask the CEO to aid in the dissolving Triumvirate holdings." With that I knew my tomorrow would be just as tiring if not more tiring than today was.

Before I left, the centaur Chiron asked me "what's your next move?" I replied, "I have to deal with a fairy and a CEO." He cringed and said, "I can't tell you, which is worse, but I wish you good luck on your endeavors."

with that I called Puck to set up both appointments and said, "my boss will at least here you out but make it good." In a monotone voice. When I made it to the building and talked to Puck, I said "the first favor is to find my brother and the second is to get his and a number of forces under him to help me save New Rome and stop the emperors." He replied, "talk with Mister Xanatos and I should be able to find your brother then we can discuss the fees for how to get his help."

with that I went into a large office and met with a man in his forties and said man asked me "what exactly are you?" I replied, "I have two mothers, one being human and the other being Diana the moon goddess and my father is a Shinigami." He replied, "very interesting mix, so what business do you have with me?" I replied in turn "what do you know about triumvirate holdings." He replied "I know they have a lot of money and are very secretive. What can you tell me about them?" I replied "the company was founded by the roman emperors Nero, Caligula and Commodus and said emperors have achieved a state of minor godhood. If things go well in the next few days, two of them will be dead and not long after that the third will fall. Would you like to aid in the dissolution of the company and collect and split their holdings with me?" he replied, "if you can do it, get back to me and I will aid you in the next step of the process."

After that, I talked to Puck, and he said to me "call me Owen Burnett when among humans and I found you brother he is a year older than you and named Shirou Emiya. He lost his former identity in a fire from the fourth holy grail being destroyed and was raised by a man named Kiritsugu Emiya known for being a magical enforcer, then after that was raised by an elf known as Halsin Emiya. He lived with a devil that escaped her family named Ravel Phoenix and has four children with three different woman and was reincarnated as the queen of Ravel Pheonix. From what I can tell he wants to know about his mortal family that is still alive and his godly parentage. Another thing his mistress and wife needs is more members of his peerage, they are short four pawn pieces, one rook piece and one bishop piece." I replied, "if you can get me all the rest of the information he wants, and I will give you all my magical items collected over the years." He replied "I will have a storage unit transferred your way. it will take me a few days to get everything together and properly enchanted."

After I left the building, I drove for a few hours until hitting another crossroad to find Hecate and she said to me "I have very sad news for you, the destiny Medea changed worked out in a way you really won't like. Jason Grace died. You also can't get revenge yourself, but you can tell the woman he loved about how my apprentice forged his death. She should be still crying at her father's house. On the good news side, the place for the summoning is nearly ready."

I wasn't happy I couldn't save my friend, but knew I couldn't do anything to stop fate changed myself and knew I would have likely died trying to save Jason. It was as drove seeping in rage, the goddess said to me "take me to your house in New Rome, I will use the gate to cross to the soul society and get your weapon ready. also Piper's father is having some money problems if you talk to the CEO you may be able to get him on to a better path." I did as she said and dropped the goddess off and then talked to Suletta and asked me "did you install then control unit in that dragon." my friend replied with "Leo and Piper will stay and help with the battle no matter if they want to or not."

After that I visited Piper and told her "Jason told me that he had a vision of you and him in old age with many grandchildren, but he didn't live to see it. That means someone changed his fate and Apollo and Meg. The one that changed your fate was Medea." That lead to Piper coming out of her sadness and asking me "can you come and help me?" I only replied "sadly not, the most I could do was this much. I can give you this dagger." I then handed her a moon silver blade and said "if things work out, I will meet you again soon. I missed Jason as much as you do, he was like a brother to me. also, on the side of your father, if he wants it, I should be able to get him working in at the very least a TV series or two soon enough." She wasn't sure what to think about that, but I said, "I am working with some friends to undo the damage the emperors did."

It was a few hours later, I gave my full report to the praetors and the two looked amazed on all I did. Then I was given the chance to rest and inside the house. I found a note from Rukia and after I spent a while decoding it, I learned she had been super busy with her new soul reaper duties and likely wouldn't be able to see me for months. Then I sent her a text with my very tired face on it and details of all I did. After that I slept late and then knew I had to intercept Apollo as he left the burning maze. But as I left I got a phone call from Hecate that said "I added the place to catch Leo and Piper in your GPS prepare to lay down some mist as you arrive."

Then I called Xantus and asked "him, if our deal goes through can you help repair the career of Tristan McLean." He replied "that shouldn't be hard at all, lots of new streaming services are launching and will need plenty of actors to be in shows. Its gonna be a few months and I will have to have Owen make a few calls but with a little magic we should be able to change some minds.

Piper pov

As Meg and Apollo took off and I was about to get in the car with my dad, a thick blanket of mist started to cover the area, and I saw a vision of myself in the mist talking to my dad. Then I saw a van drive up and then heard a voice saying a series of numbers and letters then "Erite override engage. I am sorry Leo and Piper, but this fight will need all hands-on deck. This fight will need both of your help." then Ichigo came out of the mist and to Festus "put Piper on your back and link to the van. We need to make it to camp before Apollo and Meg." Then he said to me "don't worry about your dad, he believes you will follow in a few days. I will drive you there myself after the battle is done. Also don't bother with charmspeak, I had Suletta make anti-charm speak headphones." With that the dragon flew all three of us to camp at speeds I had never seen the dragon go before. Ichigo just said, "his fan is really good." As we flew off to camp Jupiter and had to prepare to fight both zombies and the horde of the emperor' monsters.

Chapter end

I decided to have ichigo play outside the main story and react to it instead of making things too easy. Also Xanatos will play out more in the tower of nero chapter but that wont be until after I get through the execution arc

next chapter will have ichigo call for help from his brother and battle against both the zombie army

but first Shirou and Issei will have to face loki and Yusuke will have to face a problem in the spirit world
