Ash and Ritchie has seen the results, and the two were to battle against each other.

"Hey Ritchie," said Ash, "When one of us looses the battle, I don't want it to effect our friendship."

"Of course not Ash," said Ritchie, shaking hands with Ash, "In fact, it will help us both get stronger."

The two smiled, and heard Professor Oak on the TV.

"Now, I know many of you have questions about that Pokémon that appeared yesterday," he said to the camera, "And I can confirm that is a new Pokémon. Number 150 in our Pokédex. It is known as Mewtwo, and was created genetically from the DNA of the mythical Pokémon known as Mew. I won't go into anymore details, but know if you encounter it, it has the power to rival even the legendary Pokémon of this world."

Many people then gossiped about where Mewtwo was created, and if they could catch it. A trainer with a Pokémon like that could make them invincible. Including a familiar face.

Soon, the first battle round of the Indigo League was about to begin, and everyone was getting ready to see the fight. Ash and Ritchie stood before each other on the battle field, and Ash said, "Good luck Ritchie."

"You too Ash," said Ritchie.

Ash then noticed Ritchie had a strange band on his wrist. The band was a white wristband with some red and blue highlights.

Wonder what that is, thought Ash, Maybe I'll find out later.

"Okay, GO ZIPPO!"

Ritchie called out Zippo, who was a Charmander.

"Charmander!"

"Okay," said Ash, "SQUIRTLE, I CHOOSE YOU!"

Squirtle came out, and let out his cry.

"Zippo, use scratch!"

"Squirtle, use protect!"

Squirtle quickly withdrew, and Zippo scratched on Squirtle's shell.

"Use Flamethrower in the one of the holes!"

Zippo picked up the shell, and blasted flamethrower, and Squirtle came out, yelping in shock.

"Squirtle! Use Water gun!"

Squirtle did, and spun around on his tail, making it rain. Zippo was taking some damage from the water falling. Squirtle's burn then healed up from the cool water, and he stood up.

"Squirtle!"

"Amazing! Squirtle's Water Gun has healed up it's burn it received from Flamethrower!"

"You okay Squirtle?" asked Ash.

"Squirtle!"

"Good," said Ash, "Let's go!"

"Zippo, you cool?" asked Ritchie.

"Charmander!"

"Alright, use Smokescreen!"

Zippo then blasted black smog, and it blocked Squirtle's view. Squirtle looked around, trying to see through, only to get tackled down.

"Zippo, furry swipes!" said Ritchie.

Zippo then slashed down on Squirtle, and Squirtle soon fainted.

"Squirtle is unable to battle! Charmander wins!"

"Good work Squirtle," said Ash, "Take a good rest."

"Wanna keep going Zippo?" asked Ritchie.

Zippo nodded, and Ritchie said, "Okay, keep it up."

"Okay, CHARIZARD, GO!"

Charizard came out, and roared. Looking down at Zippo, he nodded at Ash, even if he thought this was ridiculous.

"Okay, Zippo, Flamethrower!"

"You use Flamethrower as well!"

The two Pokémon used Flamethrower, only Charizard's was much stronger, and hit Zippo hard. Despite both being fire types, Zippo wasn't as strong as Charizard, and fainted.

"Charmander is unable to battle. Charizard wins!"

"Good work Zippo," said Ritchie, "Take a rest."

Ritchie then said, "Alright. Gonna need some more power. So, HAPPY, I CHOOSE YOU!"

"Free!"

"A Butterfree?" asked Ash.

"In interesting choice," said the announcer, "However, now Ritchie is at a type disadvantage. Perhaps he has a trick up his sleeve."

In the stands, Brock and Misty were confused as well.

"What is going on?" asked Brock, "Butterfree is a bug type, and very week to fire type moves."

"Maybe that band on his wrist has something to do with it," said Misty.

"Okay Happy, ready to test it out?" asked Ritchie.

Happy nodded, and Ritchie suddenly recalled her.

"What?" Ash was in confusion, as was Charizard.

Suddenly, red energy from Ritchie's band appeared, and went into the Pokéball, making it grow so large, Ritchie needed two hands. He then threw it up behind him, and Happy emerged, and grew. And grew. AND GREW! Until she was as big as the stadium itself, and her wings become shades of bright and dark green with a white pattern. A fur-like circle attaches to Happy's back at the base of the wings. Its antennae also become bright green and extend to the point where the tip bends, and three red clouds surround them. Its eyes glow bright red. Several green scales, could be seen floating around Happy.

"UNBELIEVABLE!" said the announcer, "RITCHIE HAS USED GIGANTAMAXING HERE IN KANTO!"

"Woah," said Ash, "Now I see why they call it Gigantamaxing."

Charizard whimpered a bit, intimidated by the size of the Butterfree.

"Hey, we've got a little something ourselves, remember?" asked Ash.

Charizard, getting confidence back, lifted up his tail, showing the Mega Stone.

"Okay," said Ash, touching his Keystone, "LET'S DO THIS! TOGETHER, WE ARE STRONGER! BEYOND EVOLUTION, MEGA EVOLVE!"

The energy went from the Key Stone to Charizard's stone, and enveloped Charizard. Soon, the energy exploded, revealing Charizard's Mega Form.

"LOOK AT THIS!" cried the announcer, "A GIGANTAMAXING BATTLE VERSUS MEGA EVOLUTION! WHAT A WAY TO START THIS YEAR'S INDIGO LEAGUE! WHICH ONE WILL COME OUT ON TOP!?"

"Happy, use Max Strike!"

Happy then flapped her wings, and projectiles fell from the sky. Charizard used it's wings to block some of the attack. He then shook off the pain, and stood up.

"Charizard, in the air, and use Flamethrower!"

Charizard flapped his wings, and flew into the air. Facing Happy, he blasted Flamethrower, and Happy recoiled a bit.

"Happy, G-Max Befuddle!"

Happy then launched butterflies of a multitude of colors, and hit Charizard hard, making him fall to the ground. Standing back up, Charizard shook his head, shaking the dizziness off.

"You okay Charizard?" asked Ash.

Charizard nodded, as Ash said, "Alright, then use Slash!"

Charizard's claws grew longer, and he flew back up, slashing at Butterfree.

"Happy, Max Overgrow!"

Happy launched vines from the ground, only for Charizard to dodge with evasive maneuvers. After that, Happy shrank down back to normal size.

"And just like that," said the announcer, "Gigantamax is over. Just like in Galar, it lasts only three turns."

"So Gigantamaxing is only temporary," said Ash, "Charizard, let's finish this! Fire Blast!"

Charizard then fired a ball of fire, which spread out with five ends, and hit Happy hard, making her faint.

"Butterfree is unable to battle! Charizard wins!"

"Return," said Ritchie, "Alright, one last battle. SPARKY, I CHOOSE YOU!"

From the Pokéball came, a Pikachu. This Pikachu had a little scruff of hair on his head.

"PIKACHU!"

"I thought so," said Ash, "Alright, Charizard, get ready for this."

Charizard got ready, and Sparky's cheeks sparked.

"Sparky, use Dig!"

Sparky jumped up, and spun around, going into the ground. Charizard was shocked by this, and looked around the battle field. Just then, Sparky emerged from the ground, with Charizard taking much damage.

"Huh?" Ash was confused.

"And Charizard takes massive damage from a Super Effective Ground Type Attack!" said the announcer, "As Mega Charizard X is a Fire Dragon Type, it has no immunity to ground type moves."

"That makes sense," said Brock, "And Fire Types are weak to ground types like they are to water types."

"Ash might have a disadvantage here if Ritchie does another move like that."

"Sparky, use Thunder Bolt!"

Sparky launched a massive bolt of electricity, and hit Charizard home. Charizard was then paralyzed from the bolt.

"Charizard!"

Charizard slowly stood up, and panted hard.

"Okay, Charizard, use Slash!"

"Sparky, Use Iron Tail!"

The two Pokémon Charged, and hit each other, facing away from each other. They stood facing back to back. However, because of the Paralysis, Charizard wasn't fast enough, and fainted.

"Charizard is unable to battle! Pikachu Wins!"

Charizard turned back to normal, and Sparky stood up.

"Charizard, return!" said Ash, "You did good. First battle you lost buddy. Just know, this doesn't make you weak, it just gives you experience."

Ash looked down at his leg, and Pikachu smiled at him, as Ash said, "Pikachu, I choose you!"

Pikachu then hopped out into the field, and stood before Sparky.
