Ash was in the new Viridian City Gym, looking for the gym area. Pikachu was with him currently, and listening for battle sounds, and being himself.
Just then, Pikachu heard something, and jumped off Ash's head.
"Something wrong Pikachu?" asked Ash.
Pikachu pointed to a door, and Ash helped him open it.
"This is a strange place," said Ash, "But I don't think this is the battle area. Let's get out of here be...fore..."
Ash stopped, as he saw a strange Pokemon that he had never seen before.
It was a bipedal, humanoid Pokemon with some feline features. It is primarily gray with a long, purple tail. The three digits on each hand and foot had spherical tips. Its tail was thick at the base but thins before ending in a small bulb. It was also covered in a strange armor.
"What Pokemon is that?" asked Ash, pulling out his Pokedex.
Do not bother, said a voice, There is no data for me.
Ash looked at the Pokemon, and asked, "Did you say that?"
Yes, said the Pokemon, My name, is Mewtwo.
"Why are you here?" asked Ash, "Are you the Gym Leader's Pokemon?"
He goes by the name of Giovanni, and is leader of an organization called Team Rocket.
Ash and Pikachu gasped, "That's not good! Team Rocket steal Pokemon for their own selfish needs!"
He... tricked me?
"Yes. Don't worry, I'll get you out of here!" said Ash, looking around.
Ash and Pikachu looked around, trying to see if they could find something to help Mewtwo get out.
There is nothing here, said Mewtwo.
"Nothing to release you?" asked Ash.
What of those Pokeballs you carry?
"Do, you have one?" asked Ash.
No. Use one.
"Are you sure?" asked Ash.
Yes. Please. I do not wish to remain here.
"Okay, I promise to release you the moment we get out of here!"
Ash then pulled out an empty Pokeball, and tapped it against Mewtwo. Mewtwo was then put into the ball, as it shook three times, and clicked.
"Okay, let's get out of here!" said Ash, grabbing the Pokeball, and heading out the door.
Soon, Ash found his friends, and saw Gary on the ground.
Just then, a familiar trio came, after Gary explained that Team Rocket is too strong.
"Prepare for Trouble!"
"Make it double!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all people within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"IT'S THEM!" said Misty.
The Team Rocket then comically fell, and Jessie yelled, "WHY DO YOU ALWAYS INTERRUPT US!"
"We know what you're gonna say!" said Misty.
"Now, what are you doing here!?" demanded Ash.
"We're the Viridian Gym Leaders!" said Jessie.
"A promotion from the Boss!" said James.
"You guys are gym leaders!?" asked Ash
Their boss is the Gym Leader, said Mewtwo to Ash in his head, Speak to me in your head. I can read your thoughts.
Okay, said Ash in his head, are they really Gym Leaders?
For the time. Giovanni was just informed of my release. He has sent many of his grunts to look for me. I do not wish to battle, if you plan to face them. Now, show them who's boss! I've seen your memories, and you truly care for your Pokemon. Although, I have questions about your Charizard.
Can they wait?
Yes, of course.
Ash then got ready, and said, "Alright, I'll battle you all to win the gym's badge!"
The trio smirked, and said, "very well. RHYDON, KINGLER, MACHAMP, GO!"
Jessie released three Pokemon, one dinosaur like one with a large horn on it's snout, a large crab with a massive left pincer claw, and a muscluar humanoid Pokemon with four arms.
"Oh man," said Ash, "I'm gonna need a Pokemon with a type advantage, and a good defense... I got it! SQUIRTLE, I CHOOSE YOU!"
"SQUIRTLE!"
"Hmph," said Jessie, "Let's make it more interesting. Rhydon, use Roar!"
Rhydon let out a lout roar, and Squirtle was forced back into it's Pokeball. And out came, another Pokemon, making everyone look surprised.
Mewtwo opened his eyes, and said, What happened?
"They used roar, and forced you out," said Ash, "I'm sorry Mewtwo. I'll return you right now."
But, Ash was shocked before he could.
The Trio laughed, and James said, "EVERYTIME YOU TAKE DAMAGE, OR TRY TO SUBSTITUTE POKEMON, YOU'LL FEEL THE SAME PAIN THEY DO!"
Just then, Mewtwo yelled, THAT IS NOT HOW GYM LEADERS DO THINGS!
The whole gym was silent.
"Did it just, talk?" asked Gary.
"How did it do that?" asked Misty.
GYM LEADERS LET THEIR CHALLENGERS DO AS THEY PLEASE, AS LONG AS IT'S WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THEIR RULES! YOU DISGUST ME! So, I will help Ash defeat you all!
Ash, said Mewtwo in Ash's head, My moves are Psychic, Counter, Shadow Ball, Recover Barrier, Mega Punch and a special move called Psystrike.
"Wow," whispered Ash, "That's a good move set.
"Okay," said Ash, "Let's do this together Mewtwo!"
"Rhydon, use Horn Drill!"
"Mewtwo, block it with Barrier!"
Mewtwo then used a psychic barrier, and it knocked Rhydon back a bit.
"Machamp!" yelled Jessie, "Use Cross-Chop!"
"Mewtwo, use Psychic!"
Mewtwo lifted up a hand, and a blue aura enveloped Machamp, and it threw the Pokemon into the back wall.
The trio was then shocked, leaving some scorch marks on their skin.
"GRRRRR, YOU LITTLE TWERP! KRABBY, USE CRAB HAMMER, RHYDON, USE TAKE DOWN!"
"Shadow Ball!"
Mewtwo then summoned two purple spheres, and launched them, hitting home, and stopping Kingler and Rhydon in their tracks. The trio was shocked once more.
Meowth then pulled out a device, and said, "Now, to make the odds even!"
Next time, said Mewtwo, Don't say something out loud. Not that it will matter to me.
Mewtwo then took the device away, and crushed it with his fist.
Thinking to blow this place up? How low will scum like you sink to?
"MACHAMP, USE MEGA PUNCH!"
"You use Mega Punch as well!"
The two charged, and rammed their fists into each other's faces, only Mewtwo's blow, made Machamp faint.
Mewtwo shook his head, and said Let's finish this.
"Okay," said Ash.
"YOU LITTLE TWERP! YOU WON'T WIN! RHYDON, USE ROCK TOMB, AND KINGLER, USE HYDRO PUMP!"
The two Pokemon then launched their attacks, and Ash yelled, "MEWTWO, BLOCK IT WITH BARRIER AND THEN USE PSYSTRIKE!"
"Psystrike?"
Mewtwo then summoned a barrier that blocked both attacks, and left Mewtwo unscathed. It then lifted itself up into the air, and formed a ball of energy, that grew to an enormous size!
Mewtwo then threw the ball down, and it shook the whole field, making Kingler and Rhydon faint, and Team Rocket get shocked once more!
After that, Mewtwo healed the Pokemon, and grabbed their Pokeballs.
They looked at it, and it said, You are free now.
Mewtwo crushed the balls with its powers, and threw them away.
It then floated over to Team Rocket, and looked at them menacingly.
The Badge, now!
They squealed in fright, and handed it to Mewtwo, who headed to Ash, and said, This, is yours.
"Alright! I got the Earth Badge!"
Now, to cleanse this area! said Mewtwo.
Everyone was gently lifted out, while Team Rocket was thrown throw the roof, and they yelled, "WE'RE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"
Mewtwo then summoned all it's power, and created a shockwave that destroyed the whole gym.
Mewtwo then met back with Ash, and he introduced Mewtwo to Misty, Brock, and Gary.
"So, what kind of Pokemon are you?" asked Brock.
Mewtwo looked down, and said, An artificial Psychic Type. I was created by humans, through genetics. I don't remember much, but when I was finally finished, I met my creators. They said I was created from the genes of the Mythical Pokemon known as Mew. But, they didn't care that I was a living being. They only cared about my power. So, I destroyed the lab, and everyone in it.
Everyone gasped, and Mewtwo continued, I was then found by Giovanni once the flames died down. I was then recruited by Team Rocket. And, I was used as a puppet for Giovanni.
Ash then said, "I'm so sorry about that Mewtwo. But, we did it. You proved your worth. You're a Pokemon, that deserves to be free. Now, I got a promise to keep. I'm setting you free Mewtwo."
Before Ash could hit the button on Mewtwo's Pokeball, Mewtwo stopped him.
Actually, said Mewtwo, I liked that battling. Perhaps, I could stay with you?
"But, Mewtwo..."
Don't. My mind is made up. I will help you become a Pokemon Master. Besides, I think I may have some data now on your Pokedex.
Ash looked at his Pokedex, and looked at the entry.
Mewtwo, the Genetic Pokemon. Mewtwo was created from the DNA of the Mythical Pokemon known as Mew. Mewtwo is said to be the strongest Pokemon to ever exist. Mewtwo is said to be a Legendary Pokemon
"Well," said Misty, "You proved that in your battle today."
"Togepi!"
"If that's what you want Mewtwo," said Ash, "then I'll let you come with me."
Mewtwo smiled, Thank you, my friend.
Ash then stood by Mewtwo, and held out a peace sign, while saying, "ALRIGHT! I CAUGHT THE LEGENDARY POKEMON, MEWTWO!"
Pikachu then did a peace sign, and said, "PIKA PIKA!"
So, with his final badge, and a new Pokemon, in his possession, Ash is now ready for the Indigo League. And we'll see how he fars with Mewtwo, as the Journey Continues!
Meanwhile...
"WHAT!? THE GYM IS DESTROYED!?" exclaimed Giovanni.
"Yes, by that twerp, and his new Pokemon!" said Jessie.
"Twerp?" asked Giovanni.
"A twerp with a cap, and black hair!" said James.
"He's always getting in the way of our schemes! And now with two Pokemon we need!" said Meowth.
"Two?" asked Giovanni.
"He has a Pikachu," said Jessie, "And it's incredibly strong! Far beyond it's own evolutionary boundaries! And, it was able to blow up a Pokemon Center, with some help from other Pikachu, but it did most of the power itself!"
"By, itself!?" exclaimed Giovanni.
"It's even gone toe-to-toe with some Pokemon at a Type Disadvantage, and won!" said James.
"Impressive," said Giovanni, "That Pikachu sounds like a strong Pokemon. And what of the other one?"
"Well, it was a large feline like Pokemon," said Meowth, "and it even talked! Called itself Mewtwo!"
"Mewtwo?! That boy stole Mewtwo!? Find that boy, and get me that Pikachu and Mewtwo!"
"YES SIR!"
Giovanni then sat in his chair, and said, "Well, seems we have a major target. Let's see if we can find him."
Giovanni watched the footage of the battle, and was impressed at how Ash handled Mewtwo. He then looked at the files on Ash, and saw his last name.
"Ketchum?"
He then remembered something from a younger age, and said, "Well, I suppose I could visit her again. Perhaps, she could have a spot, right next to me."
He then smirked to himself.
