Mimmi and Nerissa join Zac, Bella and Mimmi inside the hidden cave. It is dimly lit, but Zac sees a new mermaid alongside Mimmi.
"Who is that mermaid?" asked Zac.
"I'm your birth mother," replied the new mermaid with dark brown hair.
"This is Nerissa," said Mimmi. "As she just said, she's the one who fathered you alongside Dr Blakely."
"Wow! Are you going to take us somewhere cool?" asked Zac.
"Yes, I just have to find the entrance to my private headquarters." Nerissa answered. She began feeling around the walls of the cave but couldn't find it.
"Hmm, I swear I created the access point somewhere inside this cave." Nerissa commented. "Why don't you all wait outside whilst I try to figure something out?"
Zac and the others then left Nerissa alone as they headed back outside. As they were outside, they relaxed for a bit until Zac saw some strange ball like objects coming down from the sky.
"What are those things?" asked Zac.
Mimmi and Bella also looked up and saw that some paintballs were falling down. "Zac, we need to get out of here fast!" exclaimed Mimmi.
"But it's just paint," protested Zac. "What harm could it do to us?"
"Paint is liquid, and we could be transformed into our mermaid states." Bella answered.
Zac acknowledged the warning and followed the others.
"I wonder who is trying to attack us?" asked Bella.
"Could it be Ondina? She's made her home on Mako Island," spoke Zac.
"You might be right, but if it's her then I think we're in far more trouble than what we expect." Mimmi commented.
As they were running away, Lyla felt a paintball land on her top. She could feel the paint dripping onto her skin, and in an instant she was transformed into her mermaid state.
"Lyla are you alright?" asked Bella.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Lyla replied as she began using her magic to dry off her tail.
"I wonder what we should do now?" questioned Mimmi.
"Well I think we should follow the source of those paintballs," suggested Zac.
"Are you crazy?!" asked Bella.
"Maybe Zac is right. If we follow the source, it will lead us to whoever is trying to cause mayhem on Mako." Lyla commented.
The others realised Lyla had a good point, and they followed the source of the paintballs. They eventually reached the other side of the island, where they saw a familiar dusty blonde girl. She was carrying a gun of some sort, and they saw that paintballs were being fired out of it. The gun then jammed, and the girl moaned.
"Stupid ancient tech," complained the blonde girl. "Why do you have to give up on me now?"
"Psst... That's Ondina right there," said Mimmi.
"Why is she firing all those paintballs?" asked Bella.
"I don't know. Maybe we should ask her," suggested Zac.
"That sounds too dangerous," replied Mimmi. "We're facing off against someone who knows all the technology on Mako Island."
"So here is the plan," said Bella. Since Ondina has to reload her weapon, we simply follow her to wherever the weapons storage place is located, turn invisible and then jump out to scare her."
"Yep, sounds good to me." Lyla replied. She looked around and noticed that Zac was no longer in their sights. "Hey, where's Zac gone to?"
Bella and Mimmi then turned around and saw Zac had run off to join Ondina. "Oh no, Zac come back here!" shouted Mimmi. It was too late as Zac had now joined Ondina.
"Hi, I'm Zac. We met previously," announced Zac.
"So, what are you here to talk about?" questioned Ondina. "You're just a pathetic human who wouldn't have a clue about this fancy technology!"
"I really like what you're doing with that awesome paint gun of yours," said Zac.
Ondina just ignored Zac and continued trying to fix the paint gun. Zac then saw the other mermaids run up to him.
"Oh no, it's them!" shouted Ondina.
"Time's up Ondina! You've been causing too much trouble around here!" yelled Mimmi.
"How dare you challenge an almighty technologist like me! You cruds are no match for the weapons in my possession!" announced Ondina. She then began using her weather manipulation powers, as she created a thundercloud directly over Zac and the other mermaids. The cloud unleashed a burst of rain, which instantly soaked them and turned them all into mermaid form.
Ondina just watched on and laughed loudly. "HAHAHA! Now no-one will stop my grand plan!"
Mimmi whilst in her mermaid state felt a pain in her head. She was getting a vision of Nerissa, finding her way out of the cave and transforming into her water dragon form.
Some minutes later, after she and the others transformed back into human form, they looked back to see the water dragon emerging from the forest, heading towards them. This time, the water dragon ignored them and continued heading along the beach. Zac and the mermaids followed the water dragon, and they eventually reached a wooden shack.
Ondina emerged from the wooden shack carrying a new paint gun. As she looked up, she saw a giant water dragon heading towards her. She panicked, dropped the gun and dived into the water. As she was swimming away, the water dragon calmed down and Nerissa emerged in her normal state.
"Ha! We scared that girl well!" said Mimmi.
"Yeah, we are now an awesome team. You too, my son." Nerissa spoke directing her second comment at Zac.
"Aw thanks! Do I still call you mum, because you haven't really been in my life at all." Zac asked.
Nerissa laughed, as she spoke "There's no need to feel bad. Now that you know our secret, you'll be a valuable part of our team."
Zac and the mermaids relaxed as they prepared to head back home.
