A/N: I usually don't put author's notes at the start, but this takes place during the chapter "I Can Be Your Painkiller, Killer, Killer" while Aero's unconscious and being cared for by Diamond. If you're jumping between chapters and you haven't read that one yet, go to that first for context.
I know, I probably should've just added this in there or made this right afterwards to show how one or two of them are handling this, but shhhh. Nobody said I was doing things in chronological order XD not to mention I didn't think about how Magma would blow out smoke like that until way after that chapter dammit. You guys signed up for my bullshit, you should be used to this by now lol.
What was that fuckin' moron thinking?
Magma eyed the door that Dia and Aero were behind. His mind ran a million miles per minute as he just sat there.
He was extremely upset. Not at Aero, but at the fact that he didn't know what was going on with them until Diamond told them.
How long did they keep it to herself? Why didn't she go to them when she needed help? Why didn't DG tell anybody about it before now?
Why did he do that to himself in the first place?
He knew Aero was fine right now, but it didn't stop his mind.
His leg shook so much it almost shook the floor beneath him. His breathing was heavy and slightly quick. Magma's heart pounded against his chest so hard it felt like it was going to break his ribcage and pop out of his body. He puffed out smoke rings, probably two every five seconds.
He wouldn't be surprised if his blood pressure was skyrocketing right now.
Magma felt somebody sit next to him. He immediately looked to his left.
Marino put his hand on his shoulder.
"Aerodynamic will be okay. Diamond tended his wounds."
"I know, MO, but…" He groaned. "But I can't help it. Why didn't Aero tell us what she was goin' through? Why didn't we pick up on anythin'? What if they don't end up bein' okay? What if-"
"Magma, take deep breaths." Marino sharply interrupted. "Aerodynamic will be okay. We'll be there for her when she needs us and whenever she decides to come to us. Deep breaths, then focus on making different shapes with that smoke."
Magma stared at him for a moment before he took deep breaths like he was told.
Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out.
He did that a few more times before inhaling. He blew out more smoke, but it was in different shapes this time. Rings, hearts, more complicated and intricate shapes.
Marino rubbed his back. "Good, keep going until you feel yourself completely calmed."
Magma kept doing just that. He kept his focus entirely on the smoke he puffed out. The shapes, how it came out, all of it.
It managed to both calm him down and take his mind off the thoughts he was having. His fur color even went back to a darker red.
"Trust me, Magma. Everything is okay and it will continue to be fine." Marino reassured him. "Promise."
Magma nodded. He looked towards the others.
Everyone else seemed worry too, even their parents.
Magma leaned forwards. His tail intertwined with Marino's, and he held it tight.
"What're we gonna do once Aero's outta there?" Magma asked. "I mean, we gotta make it up to 'em for every time we hadn't noticed anythin' wrong somehow."
"And we will, Magma, starting tomorrow when she wakes up."
Marino hugged him.
Even if his face didn't fully show it, only his eyes, Magma could tell he was extremely worried as well. The way he hugged him solidified that. If he wasn't worried, that would be concerning in of itself.
Hell, Marino was so tense he slightly trembled.
Magma hugged him back.
Yeah, they got this, they always did. They were always able to bounce back from anything.
This shouldn't be any different.
