Inspired by Stolen Intelligence II -- INSTABILITY

Takes place during the Season of the Drifter

Wolf unlocks the door to his quarters and bursts inside. Ghost follows close behind and watches as his Guardian sweeps through the room like a whirlwind, stuffing any essential he can find into his backpack.

"Quick question?" Ghost begins. "Why are we suddenly going on not one but two extended patrols?"

Wolf gives Ghost a quick glance, not stopping his frantic packing in the slightest. "Marcus Ren just warned me that Zavala and Ikora are talking about appointing a new Hunter Vanguard."

"They are? But what about the Dare?"

"Considering I kind of shot the first candidate and the chain of culpability leads to a Hive Goddess, not feasible. They're going to gather the Hunters soon and trust me, we do not want to be around when they do."

"Okay, fair, but ... wait, are they considering you? Did Marcus tell you?"

"He certainly seemed to think so as he and Didi were booking it to the hangar."

"But surely you aren't the only candidate, right?"

"No, but if we don't hurry, I'll be the only one in the Tower, and I'll be damned if I get tied to a desk."

Ghost quickly begins flying around the room, transmatting what needs to be packed away. He understands Wolf wants nothing to do with the position, especially since he hasn't been the happiest with the Vanguard as of late, so his next question comes out of sheer curiosity more than anything else. "Is it really such a bad thing though? If you can handle extinction-level threats, you can handle paperwork. And I'm sure you can go out into the field from time to time, like every few years maybe?"

Wolf stopped and turned to Ghost, eyebrow raised. "You want to go a few years without seeing a Vex Milk Waterfall?"

"...you're right, let's get the hell out of here. Hurry!"

So, I kind of screwed up a bit. I jumped into Wolf's depresso arc without showing snippets of who was before. So here I am now, showing all the feels including laughs, positivity, tears, and all that cheesy stuff. This will update as I get ideas, and the formatting is inspired by the various lorebooks of Destiny 2. It's more for me to use as a character study but why not share?

Also, I don't know if the hunter!player character was ever considered for the Hunter Vanguard position but mine would still 100% nope out of the Tower like everyone else did when those discussions started lol. (He was both proud and relieved when Crow took up the mantle!)
