It was a horrible idea to begin with but honestly who could blame her?A bet is a bet.
Day lies on her bed after crying a bucket of tears and contemplated her existence as she stared at the light blue ceiling of her room. Music could be heard coming from the TV, which showed the end credits of the movie Trollhunters: Rise of The Titans.
Which has quickly become the new bane of her existence.
"Why did we ever decided to do this?" Day asked herself as she stared into oblivion in a sad attempt at finding a good reason for her current mistake. The movie had come out years ago yet despite her being an avid fan of the franchise, Tales Of Arcadia, the bad reviews of the movie kept her from watching it. The fans on Tumblr and YouTube had lamented their disappointment and frustration with the time travel ending and Day couldn't blame them one bit. It ruined the series for her and has now reduced her to a puddle of sadness.
"Why am I here? Why are any of us here? We could have gone to the park by now but nooo! We just had to do a silly bet and make ourselves miserable didn't we!," exclaimed Day with sarcasm and exasperation for her decision to give in to a simple bet by her siblings.
Day had turned off the living room lights hours ago turning the place into a nest of shadows with only the light of the TV keeping illuminating the room.
It has only been a couple of minutes since the movie had ended and her life has already crumbled to pieces. It's almost as if the entire world just went on acting as if Day's entire perspective on life hasn't totally been changed by an awful ending of a beloved franchise.
Well almost all of the world.
Unfortunately for her, Day's siblings decided to bet on a coin flip to see if the movie was worth watching or not since they were bored and had decided to make it a watch party. Marianna, Day's twin, looked unimpressed at the TV screen while their older brother Tailor was also crying. Surprisingly he was taking it harder than Day due to his empathetic personality. Their little sister Stella just sat there with her jaw dropped to the floor. Marianna and Stella didn't know the franchise as well as their other two siblings but during the week long watch party of Tales Of Arcadia they had grown to love the shows. They had expected the movie to be as good as the shows and didn't head their siblings warnings about the films ending. Now they just sat their with their minds blown and their hearts filled with instant regret.
"That...was such a bad ending. Man I want a refund!," exclaimed Marianna as she crossed her arms and leaned back into the couch while she glared at the TV screen.
"This is on Netflix. It's not like we payed tickets to see it in theaters. Thankfully," said Tailor as he finished wiping the tears from his eyes."But yeah it is kind of a disappointing ending to be honest."
Carmen sat up from her seat to glare at her twin and little sister.
"Which is why we told you guys we didn't want to see it! Now look what you have done! I've been ruined from watching any movies for the next week!," said Carmen exasperated with her siblings not heading their warnings as she gestured to the TV which has stopped playing the movie.
"I just did not know it was going to be that bad! Toby fucking died! So many people just fucking died! And Jim just decided to turn back time and now nothing they did matters anymore?!," said Stella as she stared at the floor with slumped shoulders before she instantly stood up from her seat to turn the living room lights on. "Nope. I'm done. Shut that TV off!"
"Gladly," said Day as she grabbed the controller and turned the TV off.
The siblings just sat on the couch in emotional exhaustion from screaming, crying, and constantly yelling at the TV screen for the past few hours. Stella came back to her seat with soda cans for all of them since they definitely needed a treat after the fiasco which was the watch party.
"I really need a drink after watching that so I can forget everything," said Tailor as he looked at his soda with a disappointing gaze. "Cause all of you bitches need to understand that this was the last thing I ever wanted to do this week. And the fact I had to watch this wile sober is the cherry on the fucking top!"
"Just wait until Christmas dude. Then you can drink as much as you want," said Marianna reassuringly as she patted his shoulder before giving him a mischievous grin. "If you want to do it the legal way that is. But nobody is stopping you from taking a shot now though."
"You're only saying that because you want an excuse to drink some alcoholic drink," pointed out Stella before she gave a mischievous grin of her own. "Which totally what I was thinking too."
Stella and Marianna high-fived each other as Tailor just slid down his seat more. He was trying to suffocate himself with the mound of blankets and pillows on the couch. In a metaphorical sense that is. Day just sighed heavily before standing up from her seat.
"Okay now that we have gotten ourselves together after this train wreck," said Day before she slowly turned to see Tailor laying dead on is couch seat with a concerned look. "Well almost all of us."
Tailor popped his hand out of the mound of blankets and waved away her concern.
"Just pretend I'm not here," said Tailor before he continued playing dead. Day just shrugged at the usual dramatic behavior before turning back to her sisters.
"Well back to what I was saying. Can we finally go to the park? Ma is already finished talking on the phone," continued Day before she gestured to their mothers room.
At the mention of the park Tailor immediately perked up and popped his head out of the pile of blankets and stood up from his spot.
"Can we get Raising Canes on the way there?! I'm starving," suggested Tailor excitedly causing Day to roll her eyes playfully at his sudden switch up.
"Well you have to ask ma that. I am going to get ready," responded Day before she and the rest rushed to change into outdoor subtle clothes for their scheduled night out on the city.
An hour later the siblings and their mother walked along a dusty grabble park trail. The family had gone out to quickly grab Raising Canes at Tailors behest before going on a night walk at Trinity Park. The five of them were having fun talking about silly things despite it being cold out due to the winter season. This was a common pass time for the family so cold weather, rain, or shine was to be expected by them and didn't hinder their thirst for adventure. It was only when they decided to go beneath the park bridge to their favorite scenic spot is when things started to get a bit moreā¦strange.
"Okay everyone! Say cheese!," exclaims Rose, their mother, as she takes a picture of her four children who are seated on a bench beneath the Trinity park bridge.
"Cheese!," replies the four children for the photo before they start to goof of again.
Day walks towards the edge of the river, passing by boulders and hopping on large slabs of rocks to get there. She soon spots a large beach ball sized golden colored ball floating at the water's edge. Curious, she goes towards it and picks it up. She soon notices that it has a glowing green center and starts to wonder what it could exactly be.
Horror soon dawns on her as her jaw drops to the ground in startling realization. She has seen this thing before. Just a few hours ago to be exact. In the very movie she just had a mental breakdown over. It was Nari's time stone from Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans.
After staring at the thing in her hands for what feels like hours as she tries to process what is exactly happening only to conclude that this was definitely not a dream. Day turns around and walks back to her family- being careful not to shake the ball too much- before she manages to get their attention.
"Uh guys I think I found something that is definitely not supposed to be here," said Day anxiously as she holds out the ball for her siblings to see.
"Why shouldn't that be here- oh my god! Is that what I think it is!," exclaims Tailor in shock as he moves closer to inspect it.
"This has to be some kind of prank. How can this be here? In a park of all things?!," said Stella as she pokes at the ball to see if it would do anything.
"Maybe somebody is spying on us and planted this here to scare us!," suggested Marianna and proceeded to glance around them quickly with a vigilant gaze. "Come out with your hands up! We know you're there! Stop being a pussy and show yourself!"
"Marianna can you stop that! You're going to get peoples attention! Something we don't really want at the moment!," said Day as she holds the ball closer to her chest in order to hide it from the view of strangers walking nearby.
"Que estan haciendo?," asked their mother curiously. She seemed to be interested in what they were doing that was causing so much ruckus. The sibling quartet quickly glanced at each other before they decided that they needed to get home as quickly as possible.
"Ma, can we go home? We need to show you something there. Like- right now," said Day urgently causing their mother to look at her with obvious concern. Day loved going to the park and if she wanted to leave their immediately than something weird was going on.
The ride over to their house was not quiet by any means. Questions about the mere existence of the time stone being real and how it ended up in their lake was bounced around like a hot potato. None of them had answers to any of them but they did have theories. Lots of theories.
"Maybe it's a prop that a cosplayer lost? It would make sense sine cosplayers sometimes tend to make highly realistic props," suggested Tailor as he inspected the metal ball in his hands. Soon enough Marianna took the ball from him.
"Or maybe it's something an alien left behind! It could explain the weird glowing thing it has," said Marianna enthusiastically before Stella took the object from her.
"It could be just a regular old toy from the store based off the show. Maybe a kid lost it while at the park," said Stella as she added her own theory to the mix before Day grabbed the metal ball from her in a careful manner.
"Well this ball is completely made of metal. Gold to be exact. So the prop theory isn't that sound. It would cost too much to make this. And I don't think an alien could have made an object from a random kids movie. It would also be weird for a toy to be purely made out of metal since it could pose as a safety issue if held by a small child," reasoned Day as the car stopped in the drive way. The family exited the vehicle and made their way inside the house and it's welcoming warmth from the cold night.
"Puede ser un objecto de el espacio. Tu as hablado muhco sobre el mutiverso. Eso suena un possible theoria," suggested their mother as she took off her jacket. The theory of the object being from outer space due to a multiverse thing actually sounded possible.
"Hmm. I did always talk about the multiverse and the possibility of fictional worlds actually existing. That doesn't sound like a bad theory," said Day as she complimented the theory. "Compared to the rest that is."
"So what do we do now? Do we test it out or do we sell it on eBay?," asked Tailor as he takes a seat at the kitchen table. Day chuckles to herself at the reminder of the first episode of Trollhunters.
"Yeah I don't think selling this on eBay is a good idea," said Day as she sat down beside Tailor and placed the metal ball on the table.
"But why not?! With the amount of gold it's made of we could be rich!," exclaimed Stella enthusiastically at the thought of them gaining money from the item.
"Yeah! And then we can go to Vegas and put it all on black! We would be billionaires in no time!," said Marianna as the two sisters high- fived each other at their "awesome" idea.
"A world were we let you bet all of our money is a world I don't want to live in," said Day as she stared at her twin with a deadpanned expression.
"I second that. But it would be nice to become rich overnight. I'm just saying. A Paris vacation is not that bad of an idea," said Tailor with a smirk causing Day to just shake her head.
"Pues no vamos a venderlo. Eso es claro. No sabemos que esto es capable de hacer. Puede lastimar a personas si alguin con malas intentiones lo compra," reasoned Rose as she sat at the table to help her children come up with any ideas on how to handle the situation.
She was right about selling the item being off the table of options on how to deal with it. They really didn't know what the object was capable of or how it even work. And the mere idea of it ending up in the wrong hands was too dangerous to ignore. They needed to keep this thing with themselves.
"Ma has a point. We really don't know what this exactly does in the first place. And there is only one way to find out," said Day before she grabbed the metal ball with a grin. "We turn it on."
"And how the hell do we turn on a time machine?," asked Marianna with a confused expression. Day just shrugged in response.
"Maybe you just knock on it?," suggested Day before she knocked on the metal of the ball. A few seconds of silence passed before her siblings grew impatient.
"Uh I think this time machine is broken," said Stella as she pointed at the object with a puzzled expression.
"Well at least we know it can't hurt us," said Tailor as he tried to cheer up his family.
A second after he stopped talking the rings around the metal ball started turning like clock work as the green glow shined brighter than before illuminating the room in a green hue. Items around them started floating as a harsh wind surrounded the metal orb.
"Oh my god it can!," exclaimed Tailor in terror as he holds onto his chair with an iron grip.
"I told you guys knocking on it would work!," said Day with joy before she realized that it was actually working. Her voice was small as she spoke. "It's actually working."
The next thing the family knew their house and everything inside- including them- was transported to another world. The five of them glanced around wildly as they tried to process what had just happened before Day rushed towards the front door. She opened it to see that it was no longer night but the early morning now and their house was settled at the very back of a suburban cul-de-sac. A far cry from the neighborhood they lived on with it's cracked roads and missing sidewalks.
Day stared at the scene outside for a few seconds before suddenly found her voice again.
"I don't think we're in our world anymore," she spoke in a small voice.
They were now stuck in the Tales Of Arcadia universe.
