My first time participating in SasuHina Month! I'm not gonna lie, I had a 31 chapter fic planned for this... but I was only able to write 12 before I ran out of time lol. Fear not, for this fic WILL have 31 chapters, I just don't think I'll be able to finish it this July.

That being said, I hope you enjoy what I have written. I'll post a chapter each day until I run out and then will continue posting until I finish. The alternate title, KANADA (Kids Are Not Allowed Days Alone) is courtesy from our dear PianoCoat, the best Hokage anyone can ask for. Now, read out!

Day 1: Waiting for you

Sasuke found it in his shoe locker.

It wasn't something unusual. In fact, it had become so usual, he had to beg the idiot to exchange lockers just so he could have a bit of peace for a while. He knew that, eventually, they would find out about the change, but he had certainly hoped it wouldn't be the very next day.

With a huff of annoyance he grabbed the letter and crumpled it in his fist, just to see at the last second a name that was most definitely unusual in this type of situation.

Curious, he smoothed out the piece of paper and read the name once again, just to make sure his eyes were not deceiving him. Hyuuga Hinata. That's what it said. Hyuuga Hinata.

Hyuuga Hinata had sent him a love letter.

Immediately, his mind denied it. There was no way shy, meek, invisible Hyuuga Hinata could have sent him a love letter. She didn't have the guts to speak up in class, less of all do something like this. And besides, he had never even once caught her staring at him. Granted, he never really paid attention to her, but still, he was sure he would have noticed if someone like her liked him.

Right?

After all, despite the fact that she was painfully unnoticeable, she still came from one of the most illustrious clans in Konoha. A clan that could almost rival his own. She was the heiress of it, even. So she was different from the other girls that constantly showered him with unwanted attention. Surely he would have noticed that someone like her liked him.

Right?

Huffing once again in annoyance, he quickly shoved the letter in his pocket and took out his interior shoes, putting them on and shutting the door with a slam. Just because the Hyuuga had discovered his locker so easily didn't mean others had as well, and he had to make haste and leave the place before another crazy girl noticed him and warned the others about the change.

Once sitting in his usual place, he steadfastly ignored the laughable weight in his pocket that felt more like a boulder than a stupid love letter, and instead focused on doing what he did best: brooding at the blackboard as the classroom slowly filled with students while waiting for the teacher to arrive.

When Hyuuga Hinata came, he tensed involuntarily, waiting for her to search him out, likely to see his reaction. He remained unmoved, eyes fixed in front of him, and so he couldn't see if she was looking at him or not. It didn't matter, the important thing was that she had no clue he had received her letter or that it had affected him in any way.

Because it hadn't. Obviously.

"Alright class, I'll take attendance now. Please remain sitting and raise your hand when I…" Iruka announced once he finally made it to the classroom, just to be rudely interrupted by the door sliding open with such force, it bounced off the wall. Naruto came in, panting and slightly sweating.

"I'm here! Iruka-sensei, don't mark me as absent or my mom will kill me!"

"Naruto" the older man sighed, shaking his head. "You know better than to…"

"I know already, but this time it wasn't my fault!" and without explaining anything else he bounced up the steps towards his seat, right next to Sasuke, all the while ignoring Iruka's complains. "Hey, bastard! My locker looked like a trashcan this morning, you know!" he whispered as soon as he sat down, but since this was Naruto it still wasn't low enough. "It took me ten minutes to get rid of all the stupid lov-mmm!" he struggled as Sasuke kept a hand over his mouth, glaring at him fiercely.

"Will you keep it down, you moron?"

"Naruto! Sasuke! Stop playing around and pay attention!" Iruka yelled, looking haggard even though it hadn't even been five minutes since class started. Sasuke quickly sat back, wiping his hand on his shorts while Naruto complained about domestic violence.

"But really man" he continued once things were calmer and Iruka was properly distracted, "what the hell? When you begged me yesterday to change lockers-"

"I didn't beg you…"

"-I didn't think it would be this bad! How many girls are in the academy? I don't believe for a second it's enough to fill up my locker like that!"

"…I just want some peace, ok?" Sasuke sighed, hanging his head. He would have banged it against the desk if they weren't in the middle of class. Naruto patted his back comfortingly.

"Hey, it's alright. I mean, it's technically your fault I almost arrived late today but-"

"As if you need me to come late to class."

"-but I can take one for the team and bear with it for a while. None of the girls noticed the change yet, right?" Naruto asked, glancing around. Sasuke pushed his hand off his shoulder and went back to paying attention to Iruka, folding his hands under his chin. He ignored Naruto's whine and subsequent reprimand from the teacher for not paying attention, and instead concentrated in the lesson…

…or at least tried to.

The answer to Naruto's question was obvious. The change had worked for all of twelve hours before one of his fangirls found out about it. But, would it be correct to refer to Hyuuga Hinata as his fangirl? He never saw her hovering around him like with the others, and the few times they had to get together for a group project she always talked to him only when it was necessary. If she was in love with him, she certainly hid it well…

He pondered talking to Naruto about it, but finally decided against it. The idiot couldn't keep a secret to save his life and, deep inside, he actually didn't want him to know. The reason for that, he couldn't fathom, but he wanted to keep the fact Hinata had given him a love letter a secret for a bit longer… or at least enough time until he could read it and formulate a good enough rejection. He would give her at least that benefit, for never throwing herself into his personal space.

When lunch time arrived, he excused himself to the bathroom and once there, took out the crumpled letter from his pocket and opened it. Unlike other letters, this one was a simple white, no hearts or glitter or anything over the top like some of the others he had read in the beginning, before the whole affair became too bothersome and monotonous to even bother with anymore.

Hello. I hope this letter finds you well.

My name is Hyuuga Hinata… you probably don't know me, right? Because you're always at the center of attention I expect that a wallflower like me wouldn't really catch your interest. Regardless, I wanted to talk to you, and tell you my feelings, but I'm too shy to do so face to face, and for that reason, I will pour everything I feel in this letter.

For years I have watched you from afar, seeing you always giving it your all in everything you do. I admire your tenacity and determination and how, even if people whisper behind your back about how you'll never live up to your family's legacy, you don't give up and instead work even harder to prove them wrong.

I am in a similar situation. I cannot live up to my family's expectations and I'm constantly being compared to my little sister and cousin. To tell the truth, in more than one occasion I had considered simply giving up, but seeing you, watching you fight every step of the way, had always helped me, reminding me that it's not impossible to push past what everyone else thinks of you.

You are my inspiration. For that reason I wanted to tell you… that I like you, and although I know my feelings won't be reciprocated, I'm happy with you knowing how I feel.

I like you.

Sasuke pulled down the letter, digesting the words. It was… it was actually kind of nice. Hinata didn't gush over his looks or how cool he was; what she wrote actually sounded a lot more profound and meaningful than anything he had ever been told before. An inspiration? Him? How so? He didn't think he did anything particularly impressive. Training and studying were just necessary to become a good ninja, everybody knew that.

And yet, the way she phrased it…

Sasuke sighed, folding the letter and pushing it inside his pocket again. It didn't matter if the letter was a bit better than the others, he was still going to reject her. After all, he had no time for a girlfriend, didn't even want one. He had to train and become strong and make his dad proud and show everyone that he was more than just Itachi's little brother. Something as superfluous as romance would just hinder him from his goals.

And so, he decided that he would not waste another second. As soon as classes were over, he would call her over and reject her and be done with it.

Except he had completely forgotten girls had to stay extra for kunoichi classes, a subject that, according to his dad, was a complete waste of time. A complete waste of his time more accurately.

When the hour and a half was finally done Sasuke knew there were a total of three hundred seventy three tiles on the hallway in front of the classroom, beginning to end. The only reason he had not gone home was because he had already decided he would reject Hinata today, and he was not going to postpone it to the next day. As the girls came out though, he suddenly realized he might not have really thought this through when they came to him like bees to honey, and he almost missed Hinata as she simply walked past, not even glancing in his direction.

"Hyuuga!" he called, shoving a few girls and stomping towards her. She had the gall to write him a love letter but not wait for him?

The girl in question halted, turning around with a confused look that soon turned to surprise as she saw him approaching her. "Sasuke-kun?" she asked, unsure.

"Come with me. I need to talk to you about something" he commanded, stopping in front of her with his hands in his pockets, looking as aloof and cool as ever for anyone watching him despite the fact that he was angry at her for ignoring him. Hinata frowned, folding her hands in front of her chest.

"Eh… is it important? I actually have to…"

"Yes, it is important. And private" he said louder for all the curious girls around them. So not only did she write him a love letter, then dared to ignore him when he waited for her for over an hour and a half, but now she also wanted to get away from him? Did she know he was going to reject her? How cowardly of her to try and run from his answer.

"Mmm, ok…" Hinata said, her body appearing to shrink a little at his tone. Sasuke didn't pay attention to that and instead turned around, walking away from the crowd and not looking over his shoulder once to make sure she was following. He knew she would.

Finally outside, in a rather hidden spot under a plum tree where Sasuke could see if anyone tried to spy on them, he faced her, just to falter a little at her bewildered expression. Why was she making that face for? The reason they were there was obvious, no?

Suddenly he felt a little nervous. He cleared his throat, slowly taking out the letter. "So… I found this in my shoe locker this morning…" he started. Hinata frowned, looking at the crumpled paper questioningly, just before her eyes grew in size as he unfolded it and showed it to her. Her mouth fell, jaw almost touching the ground, and her face quickly became a rather ugly shade of red.

She doesn't look very good like this is what Sasuke thought, recovering a bit of his confidence when Hinata finally reacted as she was supposed to. "I read it" he continued, firmer than before, "and…"

"S-Sasuke-kun!" she interrupted, recovering her composure although her face was still as red, "W-Why do you have that? H-H-How…?"

He frowned. "Why, you say? You left it in my shoe locker" he shook his head. "As I was saying, I…" but he faltered just as he was going to say I'm sorry I can't return your feelings. Why? Sasuke looked at Hinata, who at this point resembled a trout with her mouth opening and closing constantly. She seemed so mortified. But she had said so herself, that she didn't expect him to return her feelings. So why should he…?

"I…"

"Sasuke-kun…!"

They stopped at the same time. Sasuke made a gesture with his hand to let her talk first, but the girl shook her head, gesturing at him instead. Indecisive. Not an attractive feature at all. He still took the opportunity. "Is everything you said in the letter true?"

"Huh?" she asked, and Sasuke huffed.

"About admiring… being an inspiration and all that" he clarified. Hinata fidgeted, her eyes darting to the ground and her hands clenching together in front of her chest, as if she was trying to protect her heart.

"Y-Yes… it's the truth" she confirmed in a very small, squeaky voice. Another unattractive feature.

"Hn. And the part about you having a similar situation?" he asked, folding his arms. Hinata gulped.

"Of course… I wouldn't lie about that" she answered firmly, even when she was still fidgeting nervously.

Sasuke sized her up, taking in her diminished posture and the unflattering red blotching her cheeks. This girl said that he inspired her to become a better person, to keep on trying even against the odds. Something started tingling in his chest, something warm that he decidedly ignored. Because, he had wasted enough time, when he should be rejecting her right now.

He was going to do it. One hundred percent.

"Alright" he declared, making Hinata jump in surprise. Scaredy, ugh. "I've decided. From now on, you're my girlfriend" he said, surprising both him and Hinata.

But at least he didn't faint like Hinata did.
