Chapter 11 Raids and backroom deals
Author's notes I do not own Marvel just the idea for this fic which is set in an AU Along with my OC's Jack and Graham Williams and others who might show up in this fic in future chapters like The Serpent. Also, some characters will be OOC in this story.
I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year this year.
That is enough of an author's notes, on with chapter 11.
Washington DC
As a lot of people were coming and going past a small café in the nation's capital, as she sat at her usual table, Valentina Allegea de Fontaine, the Deputy Director of the CIA was about to tell the waiter to get her the usual, but she saw the waiter standing next to her, was not a waiter at all.
It was Director of SHIELD Phil Coulson, he smiled at her and sat down across from her remarking "Creature of habit. You come here every afternoon and have the Lobster Special. I hear it is good."
Valentina smiled as Director Coulson sat across from her knowing that this was no chance encounter asking "What are you doing here exactly?"
Director Coulson got to the chase "You're aware what happened to Graham Williams. I just came back from his funeral. We caught the shooter 2 days ago, not even 24 hours after the assassination was done. He was in a CIA safehouse. When SHIELD agents apprehended him, he tried to offer up information to save his life from an execution. Gave up some interesting info, apparently some people in the CIA have been aiding HYDRA. Jealous that SHIELD has been going a lot of funding and that SHIELD had the ear of President Ellis, when Graham was his advisor. Now this information is known only to me and a few others in SHIELD. Imagine the outrage if it was made public what some in the CIA were doing?"
Valentina had thoughts go through her mind at that being made public, the CIA would ender even more scrutiny, investigations and the FBI, NSA, SHIELD would be getting more praise from the government.
Valentina answered "You are not going to make it public. Provided that the CIA do something for SHIELD in return, what is it?"
Coulson answered "Hand over any and all intel that the CIA has on HYDRA operations abroad. Any agents found to be working with HYDRA are handed over to SHIELD and this is kept quiet."
Valentina nodded and said "It will be done by tonight. You know how to make good deals. When Director Steveson retires at the end of the month. I will be the new CIA Director. Maybe then, our two agencies can start anew and forge a better relationship of mutual cooperation between us."
Coulson stood up saying "Maybe." He put down some money on the table before leaving "Your meal is on me."
New York City
Maria Hill entered the room, as bank staff left her alone. Not even 24 hours after Graham Williams died, a courier had dropped off a package for her, which was to be sent to Maria in the event her ex-father-in-law died.
Maria had opened the package and it was key to a safety deposit box at the main bank of New York, apparently Graham had this account opened back in 1980 and came by the odd time over the years since then.
Maria sat at the desk the safety deposit box was on and opened it, inside were documents and a black book, Maria picked it up and started to read through it.
She was shocked, here was everything Graham had done over the years, his work in SHIELD, black op missions for the CIA in the Cold War, knowledge of state secrets from the US and even other countries like the UK, Israel, France, Germany, and other nations like Russia and China, not just from the Cold War, but after it as well, some being very recent.
What was here was enough to bring down governments or start a Third World War.
Maria put the book down after reading it, taking a deep breath to steady herself after all she just learned about her former father-in-law.
Maria put the documents back in the safety deposit box and left the bank with it. She would keep them in her own secure location for now as Maria made a few phone calls on her mobile phone, to set up a meeting with US President Ellis.
The meeting was arranged and set for tomorrow in no time at all.
SHIELD Blacksite
SHIELD agents were standing guard as in a cell, the HYDRA sniper who killed Graham Williams was undergoing his interrogation, beaten to a bloody pulp by an enraged Jack Williams.
The sharpshooter was stubborn but after a long while, he was now starting to break, HYDRA members it seemed could not handle a lot of pain in a good old-fashioned interrogation.
The man confessed to killing Graham Williams and that it was not the only mission he had, apparently there was another.
So far, he was not talking, but he would, just take a matter of time to see how much pain the man would endure before he spilled his guts out.
Jack would ensure the man was in pure agony and begging for death, was only fair that he suffered so much after what this man did.
After what happened to his father, Jack had gotten a text message from Coulson, just 4 words.
The gloves are off.
Jack continued beating on the murderer who killed his father. He would make him talk; it would just be a matter of time.
Jack took another swing at the man who killed his father, making him spit up blood as he again demanded answers on what was the second mission this murderer had.
Wakanda
The few guards left from the Border Tribe who were not part of the treason W'Kabi did in supporting the usurper known as Killmonger, patrolled the area, one of them saw something off in the distance that was approaching them, fast.
As the guards got ready for a fight with a potential threat, the spy planted inside Wakanda, was ready to comply and she struck, killing the guards with precise headshots from her silenced pistol before the other guards could react or raise the alarm.
Atoea and his strike force arrived and the head of HYDRA in Africa praised the work of their spy, as he and others armed with their new Vibranium weapons and in black HYDRA armour started to move.
They had a city to raid after all.
Getting into Wakanda was the easy bit, what came next would be the hard part.
As HYDRA was getting into Wakanda, the early warning system the nation had in place were taken down using a small EMP device, their inside person planted.
For all Wakanda's advances in technology over the rest of the world, they were overconfident and HYDRA would wake Wakanda from their ignorant sleep.
The strike team split off into teams, the Vibranium detector would lead Atoea and his team to where the Vibranium was, the others would cause a distraction and die for the cause if that was required of them.
In the Golden City, US Ambassador Dominic Walsh was being following closely as Queen Mother Ramonda was leading him and some of his staff around the marketplace, as some of the Dora Milaje also followed them.
Her son, King T'Challa was having lunch with CIA agent Everett Ross, introducing him to Wakandan cuisine. Who was adventurous, but Ross was in need of some water after having too much spicy food.
The people were happy to show US Ambassador Dominic Walsh a lot of goods in the marketplace on offer, as Dominic was looking at some jewels on offer, thinking it might be something nice for his sister's upcoming birthday, loud noises were heard from nearby.
The noise got louder and loud screaming was heard, the Dora Milaje got their spears out and some of them went towards what was going on, as the security around ambassador Walsh got their guns out, just in case and agent Ross also took out his pistol, as T'Challa suited up for a possible fight, wondering who would be stupid enough to try and attack Wakanda.
It quickly became apparent the noise was gunfire as civilians were running towards T'Challa and the others, Ambassador Walsh's security moved to get him to safety and Queen Mother Ramonda was urged by her son to go with them, as he headed off into this fight, as Everett Ross assured T'Challa that he would get his mother to safety.
T'Challa thanked him before heading off to do his duty, protect Wakanda.
He got to the fighting and saw several of the Dora Milaje were dead as Okoye was leading others in a counterattack, these armed attacks were HYDRA, the logo of the evil organization was on their armour,
What they had on, was clearly made of Vibranium, and they also had weapons, guns made of Vibranium, this caught T'Challa and the others by complete surprise, but the advantage this HYDRA attack force had did not last long.
T'Challa and Okoye lead the counterattack, several of those in this HYDRA attack group were killed. One shot himself with a bullet to the head.
The last one was knocked to the ground by T'Challa, still alive, as he grabbed the HYDRA member, the man had put something in his mouth saying "Hail Hydra!"
The man quickly dropped dead from whatever poison he took.
T'Challa started to wonder why an attack like this was done by HYDRA, it was a mission that there was no coming back from, Okoye was thinking the same thing and in unison came to the exact same realization, this was a distraction to hide their true objective.
The mine, HYDRA was here to help themselves to all the Vibranium they could get their evil hands on.
Near the mine, Atoea with what was left of his strike team, entered the mine, their spy on the inside had severed her purpose and outlived her usefulness as she was shot dead execution style by Atoea personally.
Atoea and his team went inside, they found a vehicle to use to get out of here and the diversion worked, the place was unguarded and the EMP left things in disarray for the Wakandans to communicate and coordinate a defence.
Everything was going according to plan, as Atoea ordered the team to load all the Vibranium they could, it was not going to be long, before Wakanda's forces figured out where they were and the element of surprise was lost.
Atoea smiled as boxes of the Vibranium was loaded onto the vehicle, it was nice of the Wakandans to box a lot of this already, saved them the work of doing it themselves.
Outside the mine, T'Challa and others had arrived and saw the guards who were there, all dead. HYDRA got the jump on them.
T'Challa then got a message, the coms were back up as his sister Shuri, safe in the lab, showed camera footage of what was going on in the mine, HYDRA members were loading up Vibranium.
T'Challa and the Royal Guard knew the mines better than HYDRA did, a plan of attack was made.
HYDRA would pay for all the innocent lives killed today.
T'Challa would go into the mine, sneak in as the others made sure no one would get out of the mine alive.
Avengers HQ
Tony drank some soft drinks, he had cut back on booze after what happened with Vanko and Justin Hammer years ago, Rocket Racoon however was happily drinking booze, and Tony was surprised at how much booze such a small alien could drink and still be awake.
Rocket had to admit, Earth had some good booze compared to other planets out in the galaxy, which was substandard.
As the two of them got along over a shared love of tech and music, Tony already had thoughts of talking with Bruce about making Rocket another science bro in their little group.
He was pulled out of those thoughts as Rocket, who was now slightly drunk started to talk "Never asked for this. Never asked for any of it. To be made, to be torn apart, over and over again. Experimented on by some psychopath who hated how things were. Who killed so many in his madness, my friends. The first friends I met before I ran into Groot and the others. He killed them."
Rocket started to cry as Tony tried to comfort him, patting him on the back as Rocket talked more about this man, named The High Evolutionary and what he did. The man sounds like a pure monster, like the evil Josef Mengele was.
Rocket soon fell asleep drunk, Tony laid him on the sofa, getting a blanket and pillow for him and keeping an eye on Rocket as Tony swore to himself 'After Thanos is dealt with. High Evolutionary. Your next on the block!'
Wakanda
Atoea ordered his men to pick up the pace in loading up the Vibranium, as a subordinate came to him "Sir. I cannot raise Beta Team on the coms! They stopped checking in after they reported they were nearing a marketplace and going silent."
Atoea knew what this meant and said "We have lost the element of surprise. Keep your eyes peeled! They could be here!"
Atoea and his men spread out, keeping an eye out for any Wakandans, as T'Challa got into position, he whispered into his own coms to the royal guard outside "Enter the mine, draw their attention."
The ordered was obeyed and soon the few HYDRA members standing guard near the mine entrance, having a smoke break, were taken out.
T'Challa leaped down and took out the two HYDRA members near the vehicle, before the others knew what was going on.
Atoea and the men left were looking in all directions for the enemy and starting to get panicked, when one HYDRA member thought he saw something, he opened fire on the first person he saw, killing one of his own allies in friendly fire.
Atoea got on the coms and yelled "What is going on? Report in!"
Atoea headed down a cave in the mine, he saw no one else was with him, these damn mines were a maze, he heard a noise and turned around, seeing he was face to face with the King of Wakanda himself. T'Challa.
Atoea opened fire, but T'Challa got out of the way, Atoea yelled "Fight me coward! Fight me like a man!"
T'Challa retorted "What kind of man, leads a group who has others kill innocents! In the marketplace, your team killed dozens of innocent people. All of this, just to steal from us! You and all those in HYDRA are monsters in human clothes!"
Atoea reloaded his automatic weapon and opened fire again, but he just wasted his ammo, T'Challa ran at him while the man was trying to reload again, disarmed the HYDRA leader, and subdued him.
T'Challa contacted Okeye saying "I have their leader captured. Are the others dealt with?"
Okeye answered "Most of them died fighting, the others took something that killed themselves."
Some of the royal guard headed to take Atoea into custody, he had some questions to answer.
T'Challa headed back to the palace, his mother was unharmed, but he had to talk to the Tribal Council, HYDRA's actions against Wakanda could not go unanswered.
Baltimore, Maryland
It was the middle of the afternoon when several vehicles came down the street, SHIELD had gotten the info from the HYDRA sharpshooter in custody on what the second mission was, surveillance on a man named Isaiah Bradley, a Korean War veteran, some in Team Hunter wondered what HYDRA wanted with this old man.
Natasha Romanoff who was leading this group of agents had a suspicion why, she had a feeling in her gut.
The small convoy parked near the house and Agent James, the newest member of Team Hunter, assigned to the team, after The Watchdogs were dealt with, knocked on the front door.
An old man answered the door and James asked "Isaiah Bradley?"
He nodded as James explained "Sir, we are with SHIELD. We have learned there is a threat against you and your family. We are here to take you and your family into protective custody."
Isaiah Bradley asked "Who's apparently coming after me?"
Agent James was honest "HYDRA. Please sir, we need to get you and your family to safety. Is anyone else here with you?"
Isaiah answered "Only me and my grandson Eli. How did you learn about this threat?"
Seeing this was going to take a while, Natasha stepped out and walked over, saying "HYDRA know you live here. Please, let us help you."
Isaiah looked over at his grandson Eli who saw the vehicles outside the house and wondered what was going on. That made the choice for him, he told Eli to pack a bag as he got his coat on.
They were going on a little trip for a while.
Isaiah vowed HYDRA would not get their hands on him, or his grandson, if it meant having to trust SHIELD, then so be it.
A few minutes later, the convoy left the area as a small SHIELD team remained in the area, to see if anyone from HYDRA did turn up to knock on the front door.
Team Hunter already had some agents from the CIA in custody, handed over to SHIELD by the agency, those who were dealing with HYDRA, in addition to all intel the CIA had on HYDRA.
It would help cut off the head of the evil snake and ensure, no more heads grew back.
Washington DC later that night
Jack Williams got out of his car and stood near a wall, taking out the burner phone in his pocket, he looked at the only number in it and called it.
The sniper swore it was the number directly to HYDRA's new head, The Serpent, after all the pain he went through, if it was not, he would be begging for death.
The phone was answered as the voice on the other end asked "Report Agent. Did you find the second target?"
Jack answered "Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for you, you bastard. But your murderer failed in the second mission. We have Mr Bradley in protective custody. So, you are the famous Serpent. You think your some badass. Some spooky story about you and the whore Madame Hydra taking out some low level guy. Put fear into others and it made you sound scary to fools. Just talk. Nothing more."
The Serpent remarked "So it is you. The famous Headhunter. SHIELD Agent Jack Williams. What do you want?"
Jack answered "You should really teach your men to stand up to torture better. The sniper who murdered my father. He did not last long under my brutal interrogation. Sang like a bird. You should do a status report on your bases. In case you have not noticed. We have dealt quite bit of damage to HYDRA already."
The Serpent scoffed "You took down some small potatoes. You are stumbling in the dark unaware of our true goals. Whatever you do to us, HYDRA will do to SHIELD five times worse. Maybe we will even send someone to kill you, or that ex-wife of yours Maria Hill."
Jack brushed it off "Empty threats. HYDRA is not strong like it once was. Your weak. We know about this plan, Project Resurgence. Whatever it is. We will find out what is it and stop that as well."
The Serpent said "You know one page out of a book. HYDRA has a lot more planned and more people will die in our pursuit of our goal. SHIELD might be the media darling now. But that can change at the drop of a hat."
Jack said "You just make threats and scream, howl like the trapped animal you are. You run and hide in the sewers with the rest of the lowlifes. You and your wife, all those evil bastards in HYDRA who serve you. Your days are numbered and I swear on the graves of my son and my father. I will find you Serpent, when I do find you…. I am going to kill you!"
Jack hung up the burner phone and threw it into a nearby bin, before he got back into his car and drove off.
At his base, The Serpent, threw down his own phone in anger said "If SHIELD wants a war. They will get one!"
