Prologue
A young girl with brown hair and brown eyes, fairly slender and small walked with her parents towards another motel room not liking the idea all that much. She was going to meet another hunter's children and disliked the fact since she had a hard time making friends. "Do I have to?" She said softly following her parents.
Her father, Derek looked back at his daughter. "You're going to have to learn to become friends with someone Raelynn..." He said as they made it to the door that they were looking for knocking on it. "Besides... they're just like you..."
A young boy with shaggy hair sat on one of the beds, listening to his father talk about something when he stopped hearing a knock coming from their motel room door. The boy pursed his lips softly as he looked to his brother, wondering what his father was going on about. they never worked with other hunters and he couldn't understand why his brother and him had to meet the other hunters.
His older brother blinked a few times looking over at his younger brother putting his hands on his lap softly as he looked down at them. Never once had they met other hunter's children and he wasn't looking forward to it. Not in the least bit.
The young boy took a soft, barely audible breath as he waited anxiously for his father to open the door. If he was reading the room properly, it felt like no one really wanted to meet the other hunters, least of all his father. He supposed that his father needed the help desperately on a hunt and that's why he called them to the town.
The older man opened the door slowly. "You're early." he grumbled as he looked at the other hunters, opening the door so they could come into the motel room.
Derek slowly came into the room with his wife Harley and their daughter. "Well, we weren't too far away when we got your message."
Raelynn looked down shyly at her feet.
The boy looked over at the hunters as he took a soft breath when he saw the young girl standing there with who he assumed were her parents.
"Good, we're waiting for one more before we can start." the man said to Derek as he looked at them.
Derek nodded his head leading his wife and daughter to places to sit.
Rarely looked up feeling eyes on her. Her cheeks went red.
The man watched them as he took a soft breath. "These are my sons, Sam and Dean." he said to Derek, pointing to his youngest and then oldest.
Sam watched them carefully as he offered a soft wave, looking at the young girl.
Derek nodded his head. "This is my daughter Raelynn."
Raelynn looked down shyly biting her lower lip her cheeks flushing in embarrassment.
"Boys say hello." John said to his sons, giving them both a look.
Sam looked over. "Hi." he said softly.
"Hi..." Dean said crossing his arms.
Raelynn looked up her brown eyes filled with fear. "Hello..."
Sam gave her a soft smile, before looking back at his father.
John nodded at his boys. "I wouldn't have called if I didn't need it." he said to Derek softly.
"I know, what was so big that you needed 3 hunters? "
Raelynn looked down shyly biting her lip
"You'll see." John said to Derek, looking down at his watch. "She should be here any minute."
An older woman sat in her car with her daughter as the pair looked at the motel.
"I don't want to go Mom, don't make me please?" the young girl said.
"No way, if I'm going, than so are you." the older woman said as she got out of the car with her daughter. Her daughter grumbled as her mother held onto her arm as they walked to the door.
The woman took a breath as she knocked on the door to the motel room.
Her daughter grumbled as she crossed her arms. "It's not fair mom, I could just stay in the room."
"There are other kids you can make friends with. "
"I don't want friends."
"That's her." John said as he walked to the door, opening it slowly.
Derek pursed his lips together as he looked towards the door.
Raelynn nervously shifted on her feet.
"Raelynn honey come on sit down." Her mother said softly looking at her anxious daughter.
John opened the door slowly. "Marissa." he said to the woman as he looked at her. "You made it."
"Barely, someone put up quite a fight to get here." Marissa said to him as she looked at her daughter.
"I told you that you could have left me at the motel mom." the young girl said.
Raelynn scooted to near where her parents were and sat between them. The girl's voice didn't sound all that friendly.
Dean looked up seeing Marissa with her daughter. He had met Marissa one time, but never her daughter.
"You're making such a good impression Holly, you must be so proud." Marissa said to her daughter.
Sam looked up at Marissa, looking at her daughter as he pursed his lips.
John chuckled slightly. "Better than my boys, at least she talks." he said as he let them inside.
Marissa stepped inside with her daughter as she took a breath.
"We talk sir." Dean said looking to his father.
John gave his eldest a look as he watched Marissa walk in with Holly.
Holly let out a breath as she looked at her mother. "Happy?"
"Be nice Holly." Marissa said. "Go sit with the kids while the adults talk."
Dean looked down knowing he was in trouble.
Raelynn bit her lower lip not liking the idea of being around anyone else.
Sam bit his lip as he looked over at his brother.
Holly grumbled as she walked over to where the kids sat on the beds.
John looked at the adults. "We need to talk." he told them as he gestured towards the door.
Derek slowly got up to his feet and his wife did the same.
Marissa nodded as she walked to the door with John.
Derek walked with his wife out of the room.
Raelynn bit her lower lip looking down at her hands.
John walked with them out of the motel room, closing the door as he started to talk to them.
Holly grumbled as she crossed her arms, going to sit down on the bed.
Sam looked at his brother.
Dean looked at his brother.
Raelynn looked down at her hands.
Sam took a breath. "I'm Sam." he said softly to the girls.
Holly looked at the youngest brother.
"I'm Dean." Dean said softly.
"Raelynn..." The girl said softly
"Holly." the girl said.
Sam gave the girls a smile.
Dean looked over at Holly biting his lower lip softly. He had to admit she was pretty.
Raelynn looked down at her hands shyly biting her lower lip.
Holly looked over at Dean. "You're staring." she said to him.
Sam looked at Raelynn and gave her a smile. "That's a pretty name."
Dean looked away shyly.
Raelynn looked up her cheeks coloring in embarrassment.
Holly smirked as she looked at him.
Sam gave her a smile. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
Dean cleared his throat some.
Raelynn looked down shyly.
"So you got dragged into this too?" Dean asked looking back up at Holly.
Sam flushed as he looked down.
Holly nodded. "Couldn't stay at the motel cause my mom doesn't trust me and insists I make new friends."
"Can't say we meet very many people who have children in this life. It's a good thing that we all met." Dean said smiling a small smile. "Even though all of us were reluctant to do so."
Holly shrugged. "Doubt it, we'll be parting ways after this case so don't think it matters if we met or not."
"But isn't it nice to know that there are other's like us out there."
"Why should it matter. She's right." Raelynn said softly. "After our parents are done hunting together we won't see each other again."
Holly nodded. "So we know, that's the end of that. We know of each other. Chances are we'll end up dead before we turn forty anyways."
Sam winced slightly.
"Or before we turn 30..." Raelynn said softly as she leaned back.
"I don't think that. I'll keep fighting until I'm ready to go out... and it won't be due to just a hunt." Dean said shaking his head.
Holly looked at Dean. "Wishful thinking for a hunter's kid." she said to him.
Sam took a soft breath.
"Have to look somewhere on the brighter side. If I do go out in this life than I'm going to make sure it's in a blaze of glory."
Raelynn pursed her lips together letting out a soft breath.
Holly rolled her eyes. "Why do all boys think that? They're going to go out in some epic way?"
"Not all of us do. I do because it means at least I fought until I died."
"Sounds like the all classical movie buff male." Raelynn said scoffing a bit. "Not everyone's life is like Die Hard or Sudden Death."
Holly nodded her head. "I think it's stupid, thinking you're going to go out as a hero." she said. "Hunters aren't heroes, people don't know about us, we would never get the credit we deserve."
Dean shrugged his shoulders. "Everyone has their own opinion. And you're right about that, but it is gratifying if the people we save know that we're heroes."
"And how many people know that it was the hunters that saved their asses?"
Dean let out a soft breath. "Not many... but it's still gratifying in a way..."
Raelynn got up and looked out the window of the motel room with her arms crossed.
Holly nodded. "Right, okay." she said softly as she sat down on the bed.
Sam looked over at Raelynn as he stood slowly."You don't think so? "
Raelynn crossed her arms
"Not in the slightest."
Sam took a breath as he looked at Ralynn.
"We all have our opinions. "
Raelynn bit her lower lip softly
"Sure." Holly said as she looked at Dean.
Sam took a gentle breath.
Dean nodded his head.
"Some of us wouldn't want to be a hunter." Raelynn said as she continued to look out the window.
Holly took a soft breath.
Sam looked at her. "You don't like hunting?"
Dean bit his lower lip.
"No."
Holly looked down at her hands carefully.
Sam nodded slowly.
Dean took a soft breath rubbing his mouth.
Raelynn took a soft breath.
Holly looked up as she looked around the room.
Sam bit his lower lip.
Dean took a soft breath.
Raelynn crossed her arms.
Holly looked at the door, taking a breath.
Sam looked down at his hands.
Dean rubbed his face softly.
Raelynn moved away from the window
Holly looked down at her watch carefully.
Sam looked over at Raelynn.
"I'm sorry you girls got dragged into this."
Raelynn sat down putting her face in her hands.
"Not your fault." Holly said.
"If it wasn't for our dad you guys wouldn't be here."
"Right instead of sitting in silence in a motel room by myself, I'm sitting in a motel room in silence with other kids."
Dean looked down. "Well no one really wants to say anything..."
Holly nodded. "Nothing to say." she said softly.
Dean nodded his head in understanding.
Holly looked down at her hands carefully, fingering the bracelet she wore.
Sam took a soft breath, biting his lower lip as he wondered when the parents would come back.
"That's a nice bracelet you have. "
Raelynn took a breath
Holly looked up at him. "My dad's." she said softly.
Dean nodded his head. "It's nice, "
"Thanks." Holly said as she looked at him.
Dean smiled softly.
Holly gave him a soft smile.
Sam looked at Raelynn. "Where were you before you came here?"
Raelynn looked over. "What? "
"Which town were you in?"
"Before here a few towns over."
Sam nodded softly.
Raelynn took a soft breath.
Dean slowly got up to his feet.
Raelynn rubbed her mouth softly .
Holly watched Dean.
Sam bit his lip lightly.
Dean rubbed his mouth softly.
Raelynn closed her eyes some leaning back in the chair.
Holly took a breath as she heard the door open, the parents walking back inside.
Sam looked up at his father.
Raelynn looked up seeing her parents come back in.
Dean looked up.
"Holly come on, we're going to grab a room." her mother said.
Holly took a breath as she stood, looking at Dean. "see you around."
Sam looked at John who watched Marissa.
Dean nodded his head. "See you around."
"Raelynn come on honey."
Raelynn slowly got up and went towards her mother. "Bye..." Raelynn said softly.
"Bye." Sam said softly to her.
John took a soft breath as the parents started leaving with their children.
Derek left with his wife and daughter.
"Dad?" Dean said softly.
John looked at his sons. "What?"
"Are they going to be helping on the hunt?"
John nodded softly.
Dean nodded his head. "Okay..." He said softly.
"Get some rest, both of you."
"Yes, sir."
Sam nodded softly.
