Ricardo's having an exceptionally rare quiet day where he's getting a lot of business involving both MLW and 3 Legacies done. The babies all went down for their naps without much of a fuss, Andre is out playing with Sofia and Alicia, and he's able to focus completely for the first time in he's not sure how long. That is, until the front door slams open and Andre's voice bellows, "Papa! Papa!"
Immediately everything else loses its interest and he stands up in time for the little boy to push into his office, a strange, excited look in his dark eyes. "What is it?" he demands, kneeling down to scoop Andre closer. "Are you ok?"
"Papa, mama and I found a baby raccoon!" he exclaims, pulling on Ricardo's hand. "Please, please, come see it-"
Ricardo isn't sure what to think or say as he allows his son to drag him outside, to see this creature. It's cute, he can't lie- Alicia's wrapped him up in a blanket and Ricardo takes him from her, watching as he stares up at him. "Well, aren't you cute?" he asks, poking the raccoon through the blanket. "Do you think he has a name, Andre?"
"I don't know, papa," Andre says, leaning over in Alicia's arms to look closer. "Could we name him?"
Ricardo's not even sure if they could keep him, but he figures it wouldn't hurt. Right? "Sure, son. What would you name him?"
"I don't know," Andre says, still peering at the little raccooon. "What do you think, mama?"
Alicia peers at him, then adjusts her grip on Andre. "He kind of looks like a Reginald to me," she says with a soft chuckle, watching Andre and Ricardo's eyes both light up, so very similar to each other.
"Yeah, yeah!" Andre cheers as Ricardo peers down at the raccoon.
"What do you think, little guy? Reginald sound good to you?" The raccoon chatters a little, and Ricardo chuckles. "I think he likes it," he says, smiling fondly at his son.
Unfortunately, it turns out they can't keep the raccoon after some miscommunication from animal control that makes Ricardo think they can, but for a little while, Andre had had a new friend. When every raccoon from that moment on becomes Reginald, neither Alicia or Ricardo are surprised.
