"Try to focus your light magic on a single point," Issei said, looking over at a blonde-haired girl dressed like a nun. "You're a healer first, but that does not mean you're unable to fight," Issei told her as he focused on the book he held.
"My body hurts..." Irina whimpered as she lay on the ground, breathing tiredly as dirt, grime, and sweat covered her entire body.
Xenovia stayed quiet as she too found herself on the ground, unable to do anything but breathe... or try to catch her breath.
"How's training?" Kiana asked with a grin aimed at the Dragonlord of Doom.
"It's good. They're not half bad but they rely too much on their holy swords," Issei said, turning to where the holy sword of destruction and mimic lay. They were powerful but to him, they felt incomplete.
"Hmm..."
"What?"
"Is something wrong, Ma'am?" A voice asked and Kiana turned to look at a pale-skinned humanoid creature dressed like a knight. It would have passed for one if not for the lack of skin, flesh, and bone.
"Everything's fine, Tommy," Kiana said with a smile aimed at the undead creature. Tommy, full name Timothy, is an undead creature and one of the few willing undead that Issei has created. He used to be a knight who fought beside King Alteon during his rebellion but sadly passed away near Doomwood. Issei found his soul there and offered him a choice, to come with him or to set him free.
Tommy accepted, honored to work with Issei, a famous hero of his own.
There was a lot of paperwork involved.
Currently, Tommy is Issei's most trusted companion outside of their friends and the usual. Issei trusted him so much that he was put in charge of the defense of Kaer Draconis and the supply route the keep has that connects different locations.
Not only that, Tommy himself became some sort of well-liked figure that allowed him to be neutral with the anti-magical organization of the Rose and friendly relations with the Paladin order.
"Sorry for calling you on your day off, Tom,"
"It's fine, My lord," Tommy said with a bow. "It's a welcome surprise since you rarely call for any of the elite guards," Tommy said with a smile on his skull.
While normally, it would have been frowned upon, even taboo for Necromancers to let their undead minions think and thought, Issei allowed every undead creature he had to do so. Normally, holy weapons would have made both Irina and Xenovia beat any undead creature with ease along with all creatures with a weakness for light, but Tommy was built different. Literally.
"Mr. Tommy,"
"Yes, lady Asia?" Tommy the loyal Blade, turned towards the nun.
"Does... Does being undead hurt?"
"Are you worried about my soul, lady Asia?"
"Y-yes!"
"Please worry not, my creation transition to undeath was highly supervised by Death themself," Tommy said with a fond smile. "Lord Issei was very critical of the contract he had when we negotiated with Death," Tommy said with a smile. "As it stands, if I wanted to, I can go to my preferred afterlife,"
"I might be a pervert but I care for souls, Asia,"
"But aren't all Necromancers supposed to enslave souls?" Irina asked, looking at the armored undead. While it broke her heart to find out her beloved childhood friend was a necromancer, only her senior's unwavering trust in her childhood friend kept Xenovia from attacking him.
"Well, that is the stereotype of a lot of Necromancers but not all of them do so," Tommy said with a hum, holding his chin bone. "You see, Necromancers come in different flavors. While there are a lot of Necromancers who enslave souls, there are a lot of them who use Necromancy to help the dead,"
"And how is that?" Xenovia asked, pushing herself off the ground.
"Grudges," Issei said with a shrug as he tossed bottles of water at the two who caught them. "A lot of undead are bound to this world because of what they did or believe in. Some undead and spirits can last for a long time without going feral, but a lot, especially the ones with powerful enough will, might get corrupted or can't pass on naturally. Souls with powerful grudges can turn into the standard wraiths and stuff." Issei explained as he held orbs of light in his palm as he looked at them. "Necromancers can help them pass on just like Paladins do but they focus on using darkness-based magics,"
"The common ones, at least," Kiana helped with a smile. "Our pervert here can use several elemental-based Necromancy. Light, darkness, and fire-based Necromancy are his specialty,"
"Screw you, Kiana,"
"Thanks, babe. I'll peg you later," Kiana shot back with a grin making both Irina and Asia blush.
"But to get back on point, while you can enslave their souls, willing souls are more potent and powerful," Issei told them with a smile as he and Tommy shared a fist bump. "And Necromancy helped me understand and deal with Necromancers better,"
"I see, and I assume these contracts you hand out to your undead minions,"
"They all say the same thing but with some limits like for example, I can not force Tommy to do anything that goes against his moral code as a Knight and I have to give him days off."
"I don't need days off, my lord,"
"You are working for me and I will not let you work without any benefits," Issei said with a stern look. "Besides, my main brand of Necromancy is just reanimating the body with no soul manipulation involved."
"I need to think," Irina said, holding her head as the information swirled around her head.
"Yeah... it's too much,"
"No worries, I recently contacted one of the soul reapers scouring around the world. I have a meeting with Hades in a while," Issei said with a smile. "They will allow me to do my brand of Necromancy as long as I have an official contract signed by him and all parties involved,"
"You do know he will send you to hunt some undead, right?"
"Well, I want to hunt some things down too! I already spent weeks without fighting something!"
"You shouldn't have hanged out with Artix too much," Kiana whispered with a sigh as he remembered how both Issei and the undead-slaying Paladin could spend days in an undead slaying contest.
"Irina and Xenovia both have potential," Issei said as he leaned on his bedroom wall. "They both have an affinity for light-based magic but Irina's felt artificial,"
"The holy sword program," Kiana said, looking at him as she cuddled to his side while resting her head on his lap.
"..." The young man stayed quiet. Messing with soul-based energies often made it hard for him to give any non-hypocritical comments. He is a Necromancer and a Soul weaver, two arts heavily associated with souls. Messing with souls was one of his fortes other than Dragon-based magics.
"I know you read about it,"
"I did..." Issei said with a sigh. It reminded him of one of the enemies he fought, Theano of the thorns. Looking at the naked young woman on his bed, by his side, he gently let his guard down. In the pale moonlight, his brown hair with streaks of white danced with the breeze that entered through the open window. "There are a lot of ways to extract the affinity without causing any permanent or massive harm... not just that, there is something else going on..."
Mei smiled, seeing his kind heart even after all that happened. Pushing herself up, the young woman gently pulled the Dragonlord of Doom and Blazing Void into her bosom.
"Now, you two. We are here to have fun, not to dampen the mood,"
The Dragonlord of Doom blushed as he saw the looks his fellow Dragonlords gave him. While they didn't have any official relationships, they were adults! Mature adults that sleep with each other and are good friends.
"Let me just-,"
"Nope!" Before he could react, the Dragonlord of the Blazing Void pinned him down as her eyes sparkled. By her side, the Dragonlord of Storms giggled playfully and pulled the Dragonlord of the Blazing Void into a deep searing kiss filled with fire and passion.
Outside the bedroom of the Dragonlord of Doom, Tommy the Loyal Blade, Elpis, and Draco looked at each other.
"I want my money back," Elpis said, stretching his hand out as the undead skeleton knight grumbled, producing some money from who knows where. Draco, the little dragon of evil glared at Elpis, wondering if his claws could work against the Elemental spirit of Hope. Don't get him wrong, he already knew about his human's relationship with Kiana and Mei, he even approved and tried to get some more people to mate with his human.
What? He needed to secure the line of his favorite Human so he would not run out of snacks and food! Also, future minions but this smug spirit stole his bet.
"Had a fun night, son?" Goro Hyoudou asked as he looked at the Blooming Mei Raiden cooking alongside his night.
"Have you looked at a mirror before?" Issei asked, looking at his mother. Seeing this, father and son grinned at each other.
It was a fun night for all of them. Sure, he might have made Kiana and Me have a limp for today but it was worth it. "So... Soulweaving?"
"It's your brand of magic and we wanted to learn it to get closer to you,"
"Dad, Mom. I can teach you some forms of magic. I assume Aegis, Elpis, or Secundus told you about what happens when Soulweavers die?"
"Yes, Elpis did."
The art of Soul weaving is an art born of a horrific sacrifice from a father wanting only to save his child. An art born from ritualistically sacrificed souls to create a medicine and transform the sacrificed people into Elemental spirits. In death, Soul weavers do not go to the afterlife. They spend their afterlife in the plane of Elemental spirits as Elemental spirits, granted that they don't get turned into a soul-forged item, devoured by other soul-weavers or entities living in the void, etc.
While he had no problem dying so soon due to his connection with his dragon and some of the dark arts he had committed in terms of magic, it was inevitable that he would one day become an Elemental Spirit just like his official and unofficial Soul allies. That or become a grave-walking flesh and bone undead.
"I understand if you don't want to, but I would rather have you learn some other form of magic first," Pyromancy was kind of easy to learn. It involved manipulating fire and his mother would love it since she loved to cook and clean. Not only that, a good pyromancer can manipulate fire in a way that it would only destroy anything you want it to. The mad pyromancer, Xan, full name: Alexander, had a journal that he managed to get and he learned a good amount of Pyromancy with it.
"I understand, Son," Goro said with a smile. "So, you finally have a harem, huh?"
"Dad! I do not want to have this talk with you!" Issei said, face burning hot. Sure, toss him in a gauntlet of the greatest fighters in Lore and he would fight them in a heartbeat but this. Hell no!
"Aww! My son is finally a man!"
"DAD! I'M ALREADY 27!"
"32 if you count the five years you got sealed away," Chimed in Aegis who helpfully floated by the table.
"But you still live in our house," Miki chimed in with a smile, enjoying how both her son and Mei turned red at her husband's attention. While they did not hear anything, they felt the shaking and couldn't help but feel happy for their son.
"MOM! DAD!"
Kiana just giggled as she looked at them, finishing her meal.
"Don't feel bad, Issei," Kiana said as she finished her nth plate. "I mean, I can heal myself easily but Mei? Good luck with our classmates,"
"You stupid tuna!" Kiana just giggled as she winked at him. "Thank you for the breakfast, Auntie Miki. But I should go back to the church,"
"I can take you there," Issei said, eager to get out of the house. It was just a simple cut between dimensions away after all.
"Honey," Miki said. "You're bite marks are visible," Hearing this, the Dragonlord of storms melted into a chair with steam escaping her head as Kiana laughed. She laughed so hard her stomach ached.
"Well, wait until you—,"
With ease and finesse, Issei grabbed the Dragonlord of the Blazing Void, covered his body and the fork in his knife with Celestial energy, and in one swift movement, opened a rift between time and space. Holding her mouth shut, the young Dragonlord jumped back. In less than a second, the scene for the Dragonlords of Doom and the Blazing Void appeared inside the church's altar.
"Issei-san! Kiana-nee-chan!" Asia called out, looking at the Dragonlords who somehow ended with Kiana sitting on top of Issei's back.
"Hi, Asia! I brought breakfast!" Kiana said holding onto some of the containers Miki wanted her to share with the rest of her church friends.
"Thank goodness, you're fine!"
"I see, it seems like you did procreate with Issei," Xenovia said, looking at Issei and at the faint hickey on Issei's neck. "Interesting, would your child be born in the next nine months?"
"WHAT?! NO FAIR! I WANTED TO HAVE ISSEI'S BABIES! I EVEN HAVE A PLAN!" Irina said with a pout.
"Spot and Spots get me out of here! Kiana is going all power bottom and I don't wanna get pegged!" Issei begged, trying to claw his way out of the grip of the Dragonlord of the Blazing Void but sadly, the Dragonlord of Doom forgot one thing.
The Dragonlord of the Blazing Void was the physically strongest out of their group and he could only match her physical strength when he got older. Currently stuck in his 17-year-old self's body, he could not get out of her grip.
Out of the portal, an adorable dog came out. A dog with three heads as tall as a horse. Another thing that he forgot was one thing. Spot, Spots, and Spotty, the Cerberus, were primarily raised by Kiana before she got Bella. So, their loyalty belonged to the Dragonlord of the Blazing Void.
"Don't worry, Ise. I'll be gentle," Kiana cooed, licking her lips while pressing a foot on his cheek.
"BACON! BACON! DEATH! CYSERO! ZEUSTER! ANYONE! HELP!" Issei cried out, clenching his asscheeks at the threats of his fellow Dragonlord. "AT LEAST SPARE ASIA! ASIA COVER YOUR EYES AND EARS! DRACO DON'T LOOK!"
Issei blinked. The days passed by quite fast. Training with his fellow dragonlords and the members of the church along with some side hustles. Sunday came and here he was, preparing himself to interrogate this fallen angel.
It was a bit fun, trying his best to seem like an idiot but now. After the end of the day, a lance of light pierced his chest, straight to his heart.
"Poor human," Yuuma Amano said with a sneer.
"W... why?"
'Have you considered acting?' He heard the voice of his dragon in his mind. While it destroyed his shirt and might have pierced his body, it barely did anything to him. Some illusions here and there and some acting.
"If you want to blame anyone, blame god for putting that sacred gear inside of you,"
'Sacred gear?' Issei hummed. 'Something merged to my soul if I didn't notice it by now,' he thought.
"The Gremory and Sitri families own Kuoh. How unlucky. I would have loved to do more for you," Yuuma said with a frown. For a split-second, her face showed guilt but for him, her soul stayed calm and showed nothing but glee and disgust. "It was fun, Issei-kun," her voice whispered as soft as honey. "If only Azazel-sama..."
"Azazel, the scapegoat of God and the current governor-general of the Grigori?" Issei asked, shocking Raynare to her core as Issei stood up, the lance of light stuck in his chest. He looked unbothered and unscratched. "I find that unlikely," he said as he grabbed the spear of light and yanked it out of his body, showing the circular hole that would have killed him in an instant if he were an ordinary human. His body started healing at a fast rate as he looked at her before he opened his mouth.
Crunch
crack
crunch
Pearly-white teeth crushed the spear of light with frightening ease as he looked at the fallen angel. "Now, what should I do with you?" Issei asked, his eyes turning into a shade of blue.
In that instant, Raynare already flew away. She was now a few hundred meters in the air, or she should have if it weren't for the chains made of darkness and blue flames that wrapped themselves around her body, branding her flesh and wings, clipping them with ease. A soft blue wrapped around a black aura escaped his body as he approached her.
"W-what are you?!" Raynare, while the youngest of her group, was the most powerful of the four. She had her fair share of life-or-death battles before but the human—thing in front of him was so incomprehensible to her.
A hand covered in shadows held her head. She could feel it. Something wriggling inside her head! Something searching, wriggling. No! It was not her head or brain! It was her soul! Threads of magic pierced through her soul, analyzing them and bonding with them.
No!
No!
This shouldn't be happening! She was supposed to kill this loser and offer his sacred gear to lord Azazel! Then she would be promoted! He will notice her! Together they will rule all of the Fallen!
'Lord Kokabiel, please forgive me for failing Lord Azazel's orders,'
Yuuma Amano, also known as the fallen angel, Raynare, looked at the human—monster— in front of her. She already knew she was dead that moment it revealed its true form.
The would-be-assassin fell to the ground, devoured by the shadows.
Issei Hyoudou held an orb of gold and white tainted by black.
"My lord," A hooded figure said, bowing in front of him.
"Take care of this and gather everything she knows and spread it with the others," The young man looked at the figure by his side. "Have the others prepare the body, I want to see how good of a puppet I can make with Fallen angels. After all, our contract with death never stated we can't use humanoids outside of Loreans for standard practice,'
A smile from the glowing green orbs of the hood caught his attention as the creature as tall as half of his foot nodded at him.
"I trust you will handle these procedures, Liest,"
"It will be done, My lord,"
"Good, also. Take the others after you finish everything, we need to get a shared vacation for team-building,"
"We found some good locations, my lord!" The creature said as it sunk into the shadows. "Also, lady Miki wanted you to get some Groceries," Liest said, tossing a scroll at the young man.
"Thank you,"
Wassup! Chirith here and I am back with a new chapter! I decided to skip Kiana, Mei, and Issei's meeting with Mei's father since I am shit with those kind of things. I might put it in another chapter as a flashback lol.
Anyways, Issei here is having the time of his life. Since Kiana is a pervert but only shows it towards Mei and those she loves romantically, Issei has his match. A pair of perverts lol! Issei here is skilled with Necromancy and his brand of Necromancy is this
-requires contracts to use souls for binding to create stronger undead creatures
-reanimates undead bodies instead of binding their souls
-More souls bound to him, the more powerful he is
-contracts only work with Lore-based humanoids
The more restrictions Issei has on his magic, the more powerful it is. Issei only has these restrictions on his necromancy and it is based on his character. The contracts he has can be broken if needed but will remove the power boost.
omake: A paladin and A necromancer
"So, Issei,"
"Yes, Artix?"
"Do you ever wonder why we are here?"
"Not really,"
"Well, I mean this is a good exercise,"
"Artix, we all can't be an undead slaying menace like you,"
"Hey! I'm a good person!"
"An undead-slaying menace to the Necromancer and Undead societies,"
"Fair point,"
The Paladin and the Necromancer looked at each other, sharing a tankard of drink by the fire as all around them, mountains of bones and flesh littered the entire area.
"Say, can you let Daimyo play with Spot and Spots?"
"I don't see why not,"
Near them, a small yellow Pomeranian munched on some bones while a puppy with two heads did the same.
