Welcome back to Elemental Crisis Book III. Last time, Cynder commenced training Superman in the Element of Wind. And for a few moments things looked rather promising. Tasking the Man of Steel with summoning a vortex around him without spinning at all, Superman did manage to summon a vortex for a few moments, only for it to fade away just as it was notable. It's not quite clear to those in the room what stopped Superman from getting farther with it, but everyone's hopeful he'll pick it up quickly. While they continue, we've got one more training session to get to. So let's not waste another moment. Let's see how Supergirl is doing with the Element of Earth.

(Our scene picks up in the first training room with Spyro, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, and Black Lightning. On one side of the room, Black Lightning is continuing to help Martian Manhunter with getting the Element of Electricity down, but while they work, our scene focuses on Spyro and Supergirl on the other side of the room)

Spyro: Well, now that we've got J'onn started on his Element, it's about time we got you started, Kara.

Supergirl: I couldn't agree more. Let's get started.

Spyro: Okay then. Compared to Fire or Electricity, Earth is a different beast, in such that it kind of is a beast. It's arguably the strongest of the four Elements I have... rather, had. The power of Earth is a mighty one, for as the earth moves, so does everything with it. It strengthens with increased connection to nature, allowing the raw energy of the planet itself to flow into you. This is the Element of strength over adversity, willful resolve, and unyielding determination.

Supergirl: (Muses over that for a moment) Then this Element definitely picked a good host.

Spyro: Alright then, Kara. Let's see what you've got. Try to summon the Element from within you.

Supergirl: (Sighs determinedly) Here goes.

(Supergirl steadies her concentration and attempts to feel the Element of Earth within her. But just as she starts to connect, she instinctively starts to float off the ground, and starts losing the connection, much to her confusion)

Supergirl: That's odd. I had it for a second, but... I lost it.

Spyro: Thankfully, the reason was easily diagnosed. You started to fly for a second.

Supergirl: (A bit confused) What's that got to do with this?

Spyro: The Element of Earth tends to be stronger in grounded combat than aerial.

Supergirl: Oh. That's it? Just stay on the ground and this should work?

Spyro: At least for a beginner. It took me a while to learn how to even attempt to use this Element in the air.

Supergirl: Good to know. (Settles back on the ground) Let's give that another shot.

(So Supergirl tries again, steadying her concentration, feeling the Element of Earth within her, but this time trying consciously not to fly. And to her surprise she does feel it, stronger than ever, quickly summoning the raw green energy of Earth into her palms, opening her eyes just in time to share Spyro's surprise at how well this is going.)

Spyro: You're doing marvelously, Kara! Now, bend that power to your will and send it out at your will!

(Feeling confident, Supergirl attempts to fire bolts of Earth forward. But only at this point do either of them realize the ground beneath her is starting to crack. And when she tries to release the blast, the energy somehow backfires and forces her waist deep into the floor, catching the attention of Martian Manhunter and Black Lightning)

Martian Manhunter: Are you two okay over there?

Supergirl: (Picking herself up out of the hole easily) Honestly, feeling pretty positive, despite just putting a hole in the floor.

Spyro: Maybe we should take this outside, just to make sure the D.E.O. stays structurally stable.

Martian Manhunter: Probably a good idea, no offense.

Supergirl: None taken.

(With that, Supergirl and Spyro take their training outside, where Supergirl tries the same thing again, and just as before manifests the Element of Earth swiftly, but just as she tries to send it forward, she forces herself into the ground with a seemingly disproportionate amount of force.)

Spyro: (Helping Supergirl out of the hole she just forced herself into) Well, I can certainly say this, your ability is at least consistent.

Supergirl: Maybe.

Spyro: Now we've just got to work on not letting the force launch you backwards.

Supergirl: Then the battle's a little more uphill than I thought at first, I'm usually more of an aerial fighter than grounded. Kal's the grounded one more often than not.

Spyro: You'll get it in time. Everybody else we've taught has, it'll just take some time.

Supergirl: Yeah, time, the one thing we don't have. (Dusts herself off) Let's run through that again, I'm feeling confident.

(Spyro is about to object, noting the sheer number of craters around them, but realizes time is not their friend and relents, so they try it again as the scene ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to wrap for today. Of the three, it looks like Supergirl is doing the best with her new Element. Still got some work to do, but nothing too tough, right? Before we go, I should probably explain Supergirl's "aerial fighter" comment. From what I have seen of her in the Arrowverse, it seems more of Supergirl's feats of power take place in the air as opposed to on the ground. That's not to say there's none that take place on the ground, there just seem to be way more in the air. Anyways, that's the reasoning there. So, what's coming after this little training session? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
