I do not own Danny Phantom or DC Superhero Girls 2019.
Amity Park was in a riot as its residents ran through the roads. Shop and outlet windows were smashed as people began looting, citing the end of the world as everyone fended for themselves. The madness continued as police gradually gain control over the situation, but that would not hold until a hour later.
It was during this chaotic period that Danny bemoaned himself for thinking of venturing out to check on his friends. Hiding behind cars parked on the street in casual clothes, the boy's raven hair peeked through the windshields as his blue eyes scanned for safety. While the dangers on the streets were only bare fisted fights, he decided to take a safer route as he ran towards an alley.
"Great. Looks like the tornado took on the town," Danny muttered to himself, leaning against the brick wall. "I better take the scenic route."
Checking the area, the boy threw up his arms.
"Going ghost."
At his battle cry, white rings formed at Danny's waist, separating as his civilian outfit transformed into a black and white hazmat. On the chest, a D with a P inside stood out. His fair skin became a ghostly tan. With glowing green eyes and snowy white hair, no one would recognize Danny Fenton as Danny Phantom.
Taking off, the ghost boy's new perspective showed the extent of the madness. Flying across a board that read Amity Park: World's Most Haunted Town, the citizens outside continued their panic. Some held up signs reading about the end of the world, but anyone holding up these suggestions were ignored. The most popular idea floating around was blaming the ghosts.
It was ironic how the Fentons were not blamed over their usual obsession. At least, that idea echoed in the ghost boy's mind.
Compared to previous supernatural events on a city scale this riot was a tame outrage. There was no looting and any serious crimes was disorderly contact and destruction of property. While that was appreciated, particularly by the local law enforcement, it did nothing to calm everyone as they demanded answers to questions they did not know to ask. But for the majority, it seemed power was an issue as only scant houses lit up with electrical life.
And one of those homes was Danny's destination as he reached the home of the Mansons. The townhouse was a lavish model, showing off the family's wealth. Quickly transforming back to human form, the boy walked up the steps and used the door knocker.
The clatter of furniture turning over was cause of alarm as the boy stepped back. In seconds, Danny saw one of his best friends, Sam Manson, answering the door. Her gothic attire rebelled against the ballroom decor of the entrance hall. Gloomily, she turned to the side and yelled, "It's just Danny! No need to barricade the living room!" She looked back at her friend, who was silently asking what was the matter.
"Ignore my folks. They're just over reacting." Sam let him in, closing the door shut immediately. "Come on. Tucker's upstairs in my room."
A loud crash came from the second. Danny and Sam, now running, rushed to the source, Sam's room. A kick opened the door as the goth girl gasped at the destruction of her room. That is, if the damage was not more than a smashed computer desk.
Tucker hunched over the desk. His fists pumped red from the blisters against the wooden surface, bordering his laptop. The screen was lit, but the blank internet browser page hurt more than his hands. A tears ran down his face.
"There's not internet!" Tucker squeaked. His tone was a whispered, yet it conveyed the deep wound he felt.
Emotions gave out as the boy slumped back into the chair. His beret was pulled down in vain to hide his sorrow as the tears continued to cascade. He could feel the hands of Danny and Sam rub his back.
"Hey...Tucker. It's gonna be-"
"Don't you dare finish that!? Don't you get it!?" Tucker did not give Danny a moment to comfort him. He did not want to hear it. The room knew this perfectly from his outburst. Even the Mansons heard it from downstairs, making them huddle in their barricade.
"Tucker! Relax! It's just the internet!" Sam snapped back.
"It's not just the internet!"
Danny watched as his friend brought out all his devices. From PDA to cellphone to MP3 players, all of it was thrown to the ground. With slack jaws, the amount of disdain and despair for the electronics by his technology loving friend was unprecedent. He would never even think to see the day when Tucker would throw his equipment with such anger.
The two friends only watched as a sense of grimace enveloped them for the moment.
"It's everything!" Tucker huffed. "Everything's dead! I can't wirelessly by internet or satellite! I tried to connect to a nearby one, but all it did was mess up my stuff! It even got the dates wrong! It's 2005 not 2019!" His knees gave out as he yelled at the sky. His panting turned to hyperventilating.
Sam went downstairs for a paper bag, leaving the boys alone.
Taking a spot next to his friend, Danny leaned against the wall. "I guess this will be the craziest thing happening in our lives now," he sighed.
"I guess so...Just tell me one thing..."
"Yeah...I think my parents have something to do with this," Danny sighed, now banging the back of his head on the wall. "Or at least, whatever happened with the ghost portal."
"What do you mean?"
"Don't know. All I know is that my parents did some maintenance. Next thing, the portal goes red and starts recreating the tornado to Oz in the lab."
"Ouch."
"I'll say," Sam remarked. She handed the bag to Tucker, who immediately started breathing into it. "What exactly did your folks do? I doubt anything they did could cause all this."
Something exploded from outside. The universe seemed sadistically entertained at the town predicament as the object's smoke was seen from the room window. The teens walked over to see the remains of a nearby car splattered onto the streets.
Danny leaned against the frame. Though his thoughts stayed silent, he and his friends knew the Fentons would be blamed for this. Someway or another. Looking to the sky, everything still was the same color of icy blue like the boy's human eyes. Scraping for any silver lining, at least everything else seemed the same.
Or so it seemed as the next few days crawled with the cleaning and reconstruction of Amity Park. To the shock of everyone, particularly Jack and Maddie Fenton, no supernatural activity could be detected. Eerie peace. That's what everyone called it. Progressively, the term piled any sense of uneasiness as the citizens discovered the lack of electricity, internet, and phone service.
All news passed along by ear. The most troubling topic was the local water plant that was having trouble with their water supply. Water reserves were full, but there was no new incoming water as the rivers had disappeared.
Tension grew to the point that Mayor Montez called for a town meeting.
Outside the disrepaired city hall, everyone sat on picnic chairs. Danny hid the back row with Jazz, watching their parents afar. His previous theory of blaming the Fentons was spot on as a majority of the town stared at Jack and Maddie with furrowed brows and deep scowls. The parents ignored everyone as they tinkered away at some gadget near the podium, but the intensity of the glares did build on them.
Police bordered the crowd in riot gear on. Their shields were compared to fences, caging the town. Groups murmured, likening the guards to something out of an apocalypse movie.
"How's Tucker handling things?" Jazz asked. She knew how some members of the community suffered more than most.
"Sam's helping him out. Her grandma was smart and bought extra supplies, including a generator." Danny leaned against the chair. "He's hanging in there."
He wanted to call that good news. Many town folks had purchased generators beforehand from the regular ghost attacks like it signaled the end of the world. While it did not solve the internet and phone problem, it helped settle people to a calmer level. Pitch forks and torches were still on sale at the markets, but nobody at least saw reason to glance at the angry mobs clichés.
Sparks interrupted the ghost boy's train of thoughts as sparks flew from the podium. Jack and Maddie stared at their work. A smile and nod affirmed something to the mayor, who stood silently on stage. Smiling back, he brought up a megaphone and began his speech.
"Now folks, I know the past couple of days have been...hectic, but remember we've been through worse," Mayor Montez started.
"Worse!? At least when we were transported to another dimension, we had everything we needed and a ghost shield protecting us! Where's all that!?" A random citizen cried out. His words sparked a riot as arms threw themselves into the air.
Chairs were knocked over. Some were grabbed as weapons as the police intervened as crowd control. Fist were not traded, but the chaos edged close to full scale violence. The Mayor took out an air horn from his pocket. Its piercing sound amplified through the megaphone, brining everyone's attention back to the stage.
"As I was saying. We've been through worse. And like those times, we will get through it." Mayor Montez gestured to the Fentons, who had been welding at the bottom of the podium. "Now, blame them if you want, i know I have, but Jack and Maddie Fenton have come up with a solution to out electricity problem. Something about an inter-dimensional portal?"
Jack snatched the megaphone out the of elected official's hand. Emotional enthusiasm overrode reason as he declared to the town. "More like syphoning the energy of the Ghost Zone through the Fenton Portal and converting it to clean energy! We'll have power back within the day at this rate."
Citizens calmed down at the fat man's words as a sense of normalcy returned. Jack wanted to mention more, most likely to babble on about ghosts, but had the megaphone taken back as the mayor went back to his speech.
"Ya see? Things are getting back to normal. And while we don't know what exactly happened, everything is still the same."
Those words were more to a cosmic cue. Once the man was finished, the ground quaked as vans, tanks, and trucks rolled in through the streets. helicopter soared through the sky accompanied by the sight of men jumping out of zooming planes. Colors of the government were recognized instantly but it was the names on the news vans and trucks that came in.
"We're here at the sight of the anomaly, just days after scientists have discovered an unusal energy signal," cried the reporter that came from a van labeled Daily Planet.
Company names from Lexcorp to Wayne Enterprise, Starlab, and Stagg Enterprise were plastered on the side as men in hazmat suits came out. The technology in their hands could be described as something out of movies as flying robots scared the town folks with their propeller buzzing.
Amity Police guarded the townsfolks as they barriered the people from the impromptu visitors. Jack and Maddie, with ecto-pistols in hand, charged ahead as they aimed carefully. Ghosts were one thing, but nobody wanted the federal government at their throats. Which was strange as everyone in Amity Park paid their taxes.
Danny could only watch from the center of the herded citizens. Instincts warned him of trouble as he tried to get a better view. Turning into Phantom could cause another scenes, opting now to stay hidden as human.
Scanners crackled through town as control stations were set up. The men in suits spread out, tallying citizens through radars as more bots launched. in their hands were tablets, no thinner than a fifty page notebook.
"What's going on?" Mayor Montez screamed, clamping his head. Everyone parted to reveal him crouching at the center of the group.
On cue, a bespectacled man with light brown hair walked. White coat identified him as a scientist as his beard and moustache gave him an experienced appearance. Yet, his stern face matched the town folks' concern. Robots hovered around the crowd as displays projected from their bodies, allowing the man to speak to everyone.
"Folks," he said in a calm tone. "My name is Professor Hamilton from S.T.A.R. Labs. And I have some shocking news for you all."
"Star Labs?" Jack Fenton walked past the police. "Never heard of you."
"I don't expect you to. Believe it or not, whatever happened here, you're no longer in the United States you know." Prof. Hamilton held in his breath, looking away from the crowd. The news he brought was not easy to say. "But to put it bluntly, it seems your whole town was transported to an alternate dimension."
Danny, listening carefully the entire time, dropped his jaw. The only thing he could say was...
"What?"
