Chuck vs. The Courtyard Bench

Well, here's what happened in the previous chapter: Chuck shared with Bentley on his "covert mission" in implementing his surprise announcement when it came to his return to Bash At The Bench. Of course, Chuck was absolutely celebrated when he called out to the Bartowski Brigade after being gone for so many months. Meanwhile, Bentley talked with Molly and Emma concerning the heart to heart they had with Sarah. In any case, Bentley would end up interviewing a number of individuals involved with the Chuck's plan concerning Sarah. Fast forward to the opening performance where Chuck and Jeffster sang All For Love from the movie The Three Musketeers. For Chuck, it felt like he was never gone and slipped right back into his routine, which Sarah got considerably emotional about. It's because of that Chuck thanked Sarah. So, what happens in this chapter? Here are the who, what, where, when, why, how's? Who was Chuck and Sarah talking with Bentley that involved a fictious amp from a movie? What did the latest Rockstar Rebel do in her spare time when she was in the hospital? Where did the Rockstar Rebel go to after talking with Nurse Alex? When did thing go off the rails for Chuck after an unexpected interruption by the Rockstar Rebel? Why did the Rockstar Rebel refuse her dedication song from Chuck? How did Chuck and Sarah react when they found out about Kaitlyn's request that involved Chief Beckman? Read and find out! I hope you enjoyed the read and leave a comment to share your own thoughts on this particular chapters. As always, reviews are awesome.

Again, if you enjoyed reading my stories and left a comment, I truly appreciate it. Please continue to do so as it gives me the incentive to write more chapters.

I don't own Chuck.

"I don't know about you," uttered Chuck, seated by the blue courtyard bench. He took a moment and looked over to Sarah who was sitting next to him. "It felt like there was a tremendous amount of energy during that particular Bash At The Bench. Even more than usual, don't you think?"

Sarah nodded in response. "You're right." Afterwards, she directed his attention to Bentley seated across from her a couple feet away. "It turned up to 11."

"What turned up to an 11?" questioned Bentley, with genuine curiosity.

"It's from the movie Spinal Tap," responded Chuck. It wasn't long before he leaned forward expressing his trademark toothy smile. "Christopher Guest, who played the lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel, showed Rob Reiner's character an amp that goes to an 11."

Bentley arched her right brow. "What does amp usually go to?"

"10." Chuck and Sarah answered in unison.

"Is that any louder than going to 10?" Bentley asked, expressing confusion on her face.

Chuck and Sarah simultaneously turned to look at each after Bentley asked her question. In their minds, they know by heart the legendary and hilariously iconic pop culture movie that was made in the 80's simply for pure entertainment value. Of course, the two of them could have just messed with the award-winning documentarian concerning what number was considered louder to the point where they drive her utterly insane. However, they decided against it by simply looking at each other without actually saying a single word. It wasn't long before Chuck turned and finally spoke up.

"The movie was just a mockumentary," the nerdy host pointed out. "Not to be taken too seriously." he further added, shrugging his shoulders.

In response, Bentley nodded her head slightly. "I see." she softly uttered.

The way Bentley responded left Chuck and Sarah wondering how she was going to react. The both of them briefly turned to one another wondering if she was going to react in some way. There wasn't any reaction, and it seemed as if Bentley was far more focused on her note cards in her hand than a movie topic concerning a fictitious amp going up to 11. Fortunately, they were right in their assumption.

"The latest Rockstar Rebel," Bentley cleared her throat before she resumed speaking. "She actually played a pivotal role in you two getting together." she added, pointing to Sarah and Chuck.

In response, Chuck and Sarah smiled before they briefly looked at each other. Afterwards, Chuck returned his attention back to Bentley.

"It certainly was, but" Chuck responded, shaking his head. "It wasn't planned that way."

"Chuck?" questioned Sarah, looking at her husband.

"What do you mean?" wondered Bentley.

"Well," Chuck looked back and forth at both women before he continued. "Before we get there, we have to talk about how awesome Kaitlyn was. She…"

"This Rockstar Rebel you're about to meet is a young woman who really enjoys knitting during her time at the hospital," Chuck announced, revealing her favorite hobby. "She said it has helped become an awesome distraction from not being able to focus on being stuck in a hospital all the time." the nerdy host further shared. A few seconds later, he leaned forward and partly covered with his right hand the mic he was holding with his left hand. "That or eating the hospital food." he softly whispered.

The courtyard crowd responded with amused laughter knowing it was one of the many aspects that was sorely missing from Bash At The Bench. As much as they appreciated Sarah and a number of staff/celebrities who did their best as guest hosts, it really wasn't quite the same knowing they had some very big and nerdy shoes to fill, so to speak. In any case, Chuck retrieved his note cards that were sitting in his lap and started reading off to the audience and viewers at home a proper introduction before meeting the newly crowned Rockstar Rebel.

"This strong and remarkable young woman suffers from Myelodysplastic Syndrome otherwise known as MDS." he announced, looking up towards the courtyard crowd. Afterwards, Chuck peered down reading off the note cards word for word and shared the information about the cancerous disease because he didn't want to mess up. "It's considered a type of rare cancer that occurs when the bone marrow produces unhealthy blood cells."

Chuck paused for a brief moment before he resumed speaking. As much as he had done this many times in the past, it was considered significantly different because of how much time was spent away. For Chuck, it felt like time stood still but in actuality what happened to him only lasted for a couple seconds. In those couple of seconds sitting there in his wheelchair, he couldn't help but feel himself getting emotional but didn't let it take complete hold of him. Instead, he composed himself and after clearing his throat he took a deep breath, which helped immensely.

"When it comes to MDS," The nerdy YouTube host resumed speaking and hopefully played it off like nothing happened. "The bone marrow produces immature blood cells called blast cells instead of healthy ones. These blast cells crowd out healthy blood cells, which leads to a shortage of not only the red and white blood cells, but platelets as well." he further shared, listing off the effects of her illness. Afterwards, he lifted his head and turned his attention towards the crowd of people who filled the courtyard. "Despite all that she's been through, she hasn't given up hope of one day beating the disease."

After Chuck shared the latter part of what he said, the crowd gave a round of applause for the young woman's continuing fight to overcome the odds against this type of rare cancer. Once the applause subsided the nerdy host felt it was the right time to Rockstar Rebel of the hour.

"Bartowski Brigade," Chuck expressed his trademark toothy smile before he resumed speaking. "Let's give a warm Bash At The Bench welcome to 15-year-old Kaitlyn Rudd." he announced, turning his attention over to his right.

Once again, the Bartowski Brigade erupted in applause as Kaitlyn made her way towards the blue courtyard bench where Chuck was located. One of the things that stood out about the 15-year-old was not only a beanie covering her head, but a familiar looking scarf the nerdy host recognized instantly.

"I take it you're a Japanese anime fan," Chuck leaned forward and pointed to the scarf and beanie. "More importantly a fan of Dragon Ball." he added, holding up 4 fingers on his right hand. "Those two are Shenron and Porunga." specified the nerdy host, pointing to her scarf. "They emerge after the dragon balls are all brought together, and wishes are made."Kaitlyn smiled as she took a seat on the blue courtyard bench next to Chuck. "Which dragon balls though?" questioned the young woman.

"There are 3 different types." she retorted, crossing her arms together. "Are you able to name them?"

Chuck stared at her for a moment before he tilted his head down a bit with his eyebrows raised. A few seconds later, he slowly leaned back in his wheelchair with a serious expression on his face. When that happened, the courtyard crowd expressed oohs knowing a challenge was just laid down to the nerdy host. It wasn't long before Chuck took a deep breath before he answered Kaitlyn.

"Earth Dragon Balls," he stated, holding his right index finger. "They were created by the Namekian Kami. Most well-known Dragon Balls. Seven in total. And," Chuck paused and sucked in some much-needed air. "When gathered, they can summon the Eternal Dragon Shenron," He pointed to her scarf. "The one who doesn't lift weights and can grant wishes." he further elaborated. The nerdy host wasn't done as he now held up two fingers. "Namekian Dragon Balls. They are larger and have different abilities compared to the Earth Dragon Balls. Also, seven in total as well. However," Chuck felt the excitement coursing through his entire body as he was nerding out when it came to dropping some Japanese anime knowledge involving Dragon Ball. "The difference is they can grant three wishes. They were created by the Namekian Dragon God, Porunga," He pointed to the other dragon on Kaitlyn's scarf. "The one who looks like he lifts weights."

In response, Kaityln couldn't help but crack an impressed smile. However, she knew there was one more type left. "And what's the 3rd?" she asked, leaning forward

Undaunted and feeling absolutely confident, Chuck lifted his right hand showing three fingers this time. When that happened, he suddenly leaned forward and locked eyes with the 15-year-old.

"Black Star Dragon Balls from the GT series," he answered. "They were created by the Black Star Dragon God and consist of seven balls. They can grant wishes. Unfortunately," Chuck shook his head. He leaned back in his wheelchair and pressed on. "There's a drawback. After a wish is made, the Dragon Balls scatter across the universe and if they're not collected within a year, the planet where the wish was made will explode. Anyways," He paused for a second before he ended with one last thing. "The GT series wasn't that good because it wasn't really needed, and it felt rushed in my opinion."

After Chuck proved to Kaityln he knew the 3 types of Dragon Balls, it seemed as if the courtyard fell dead silent. The silence was abruptly broken when Chuck stretched out his left arm towards the young woman sitting on the blue courtyard bench. In his left hand, he was holding the mic sideways. A few seconds later, he opened his left and made a statement by dropping the mic in front of her. All eyes were still on Kaitlyn and Chuck. The 15-year-old sat on the blue courtyard bench for a moment before she suddenly uncrossed her arms and reached out with her right hand for a first tap.

"Respect," nodded Kaitlyn, expressing a grin.

The serious expression on Chuck's face softened and was replaced with his trademark toothy smile. "Awesome." he happily answered, graciously accepting Kaitlyn's fist tap. The Bartowski Brigade in the courtyard erupting in a mix of celebrated applause, dog pound barks, whistles, etc.

"I saw the twinkle in Chuck's eyes," recalled Sarah, softly smiling. "It was so adorably cute. Him being back in his element and getting right back into it as if he had never left." she further added, turning to her husband.

"She threw down the gauntlet and I answered her challenge," responded Chuck, throwing up his hand. "Sort of similar fashion to how Cary Elwes' character Robin Hood slapped The Sheriff of Rottingham in the Men In Tights movie." he shared, recalling the hilarious movie parody. "Only I didn't actually hit her with an actual gauntlet. That wouldn't have been awesome on my part."

"That would have certainly been disastrous if you did." Bentley retorted.

Chuck nodded. "Disastrous indeed."

"And a public relations nightmare." blurted out Sarah, shaking her head.

Bentley and Chuck instantly turned their attention to Sarah after her response. Apparently, the beautiful blonde didn't realize she said it out loud causing her to be somewhat embarrassed. Thankfully, Chuck broke the attention that was focused on his wife by speaking up.

"Every Rockstar Rebels I've met," Chuck couldn't help but smile thinking about "his kids". "It was truly an honor to talk to and get to know them. Kaitlyn included. We all got to know more about her illness and…"

"That's why I'm anemic because I lack red blood cells," Kaitlyn briefly looked down at her arms and hands. "And the reason I look so pale." she added, shaking her head. The sound of embarrassment expressed in her voice. "Especially since I'm going through chemo, and I've lost my hair.

"You were diagnosed with Leukemia as well?"

Kaitlyn nodded. "Acute Myeloid Leukemia. AML for short."

There was a moment of silence shared between Chuck and Kaitlyn before the nerdy host responded. "I think you look awesome," he replied, smiling with utmost reassurance. His attention on the young woman turned to the crowd in the courtyard. "Don't you think so Bartowski Brigade!?"

The Bartowski Brigade wholeheartedly agreed with Chuck when they not only started applauding the 15-year-old but chanting her name as well. The support being shown for her was so moving for her she reacted seemingly in utter disbelief, which was expressed on her face.

"Even with these red spots on my skin?" questioned the 15-year-old. She leaned forward with her arms extended showing Chuck the red spots in question. "My doctor said it's just a sign of bleeding under my skin and it won't fade even if I applied pressure to it. Although you don't see them, I have bruises because my platelet level is low too."

In response, Chuck rolled a bit closer to Kaitlyn and locked eyes with her. In his mind, he did that because he wanted to prove to her what he was about to say next was the absolute truth.

"Do you know what my friend Alex told me about you?"

"Nurse Alex," she responded. Kaitlyn's face immediately brightened after Chuck spoke the name of the head pediatric nurses' name. She turned to her right and looked behind her. When she did, she saw Alex standing next to her parents. The young woman waved not only to Alex, but her parents as well. "She's awesome." she conveyed, turned her attention back to Chuck. "What did she say?" she asked, expressing genuine curiosity in her voice.

"She told me you," Chuck pointed to Kaitlyn with his right index finger. "You are considered a leader. The kids listen and look up to you." he revealed, flashing his trademark toothy smile once again. "More importantly, you uplift other kids who are going through the same thing you are by knitting them scarves. Not just any scarves mind you." Chuck never broke eye contact with the 15-year-old. "Scarves with pictures or designs of things the kids enjoy like the Dragon ball scarf you're wearing around your neck right there."

Kaitlyn sat there on the blue courtyard bench momentarily silent before responding to what Chuck shared. "It's no big deal," The young woman shrugged her shoulders in a humble way. "I have a lot of free time and whenever I'm busy working on a scarf I'm off in my own little world."

"Alex told me," Chuck acknowledged. "She also told me every scarf you've made really meant something to each one of the kids, especially my buddy Camden Willard." he revealed.

When Kaitlyn heard Camden's name, she suddenly got quiet and expressed a solemn look on her face. "I miss him." she softly breathed out.

"We all miss him." Chuck softly retorted, thinking about Camden.

"You know," Tears started to form in Kaitlyn's eyes thinking about Camden. "Before he died, I made his wish come true." she confessed.

"What was his wish?" Chuck wondered.

"He wanted to be a wizard like Harry Potter," answered the 15-year-old young woman. "I made him a scarf with Harry's picture on it." she further shared.

By that point, Chuck and everyone in the courtyard and in the hospital lost it after hearing what Camden's wish was, especially Sarah. Speaking of Sarah, she was being consoled by her mother because she truly didn't know how personally connected, she was with the 7-year-old. In any case, Chuck knew he needed to get back on track and did his best in holding it together. After clearing his throat, he was able to compose himself and refocused his attention back to the young woman sitting across from him.

"I went to Camden's funeral," revealed Chuck, struggling to keep his composure. After wiping the tears away from his face, he pressed on the best he could. "When I went to pay my respects to my little buddy, I saw that he was wearing a Harry Potter sweater around his neck." He paused, pointing to Kaitlyn. "Your Harry Potter scarf you made him." Tears streamed down his cheek.

The 15-year old's tear-filled eyes widened. "Seriously?"

Unfortunately, Chuck wasn't able to say anything at the moment of how emotional the moment was getting. Instead, he simply nodded his head. It took a few times of deeply breathing in and out before he was able to get himself together.

"His mom told me he apparently wore it all the time, especially when he slept. However," Chuck shook his head before he resumed speaking. "The day before I interviewed him, he wasn't wearing it."

"Why?" wondered Kaitlyn.

"The reason he didn't wear it was because it got so dirty that it smelled nasty," he revealed, sharing that piece of information to everyone. "It took some convincing and hard bargaining on his mom's part to finally get the scarf off. She nearly passed out because of the smell." he further revealed, causing the nerd to suddenly laugh out loud.

Chuck's sudden laughter caused a domino effect to the point where everyone else in the courtyard including Kaitlyn laughed as well. When the laughter eventually subsided, Chuck leaned forward and reached over to hold the young woman's hands. Again, he locked his eyes with hers.

"Laughter helps with loss," Chuck paused and wiped away the tears from his face. Afterwards, he took a much-needed deep breath before he spoke up again. "After the loss we find the strength to heal by eventually smiling knowing how much of a positive effect you've had on someone." he further shared. "That someone went by the name of Camden Willard along with so many others."

"I did that?" questioned Kaitlyn, pointing to herself.

The host of Nerdy Nerfherder and Fuzzball nodded in response. "It's because you did that I'll be dedicating this song to you. It's called…"

"WAIT!" Kaitlyn shouted, cutting off Chuck mid-sentence.

Speaking of Chuck, he was completely caught off guard by Kaitlyn's sudden interruption. The courtyard crowd was caught off guard as well expressing a mixture of perplexed confusion on all their faces. It took a moment before the youngest Bartowski sibling was able to speak up in order to find out why he was so abruptly interrupted.

"Is there something wrong?"

"I don't want a deduction song." she announced, into her mic.

"That wasn't part of my plan," Chuck shockingly confessed.

"Chuck," Sarah uttered, sounding totally confused. "You're not making any sense."

"I agree with Sarah," chimed in Bentley, "Make it make sense for us." she added, shaking her head in disbelief.

It took a moment for Chuck to gather his thoughts before he finally shared with Bentley and Sarah what his plan actually was.

"My actual plan was after the dedication song; Kaitlyn would have two gifts brought up to the bench. One for me," Chuck pointed to himself. "And one for you." he shared, pointing to Sarah. "It was a way for you to come up to the bench."

"Why!?"

"To surprise you, woman!" Chuck blurted out.

Chuck's sudden outburst led Sarah to shoot a death glare towards her husband causing Chuck to freeze with his eyes briefly closed because he knew he messed up. A few seconds later, his eyes opened and looked as if he was mentally malfunctioning. Fortunately, Bentley was able to save the dead man walking who was spiraling by getting his attention away from Sarah's. It took several attempts beforehand of snapping her fingers several times and shouting at him before she finally got his attention.

"Don't you think Kaitlyn's plan was way better than yours?"

Chuck thought about it for a moment as he stood there in front of the flatscreen television. After moving his head from side to side like a bobblehead doll, he responded.

"True." the nerd nodded. "Proposing again didn't really make much sense."

"I did say yes the first time." responded Sarah. "Once was enough." she insisted.

"Plus," Bentley stood up and took a couple before standing in front of Chuck, "The both of you were surprised. That counted for something."

"She's right," Sarah pointed out, acknowledging what Bentley said. "And the surprise you pulled for me in front of everyone was all that I ever hoped for." she added. A soft smile expressed towards her husband.

Once again, Chuck stood there and let what Bentley shared with him sink in. Afterwards, both individuals eventually sat down in their seats. It wasn't long before Bentley resumed the interviews with the married couple.

"So," Bentley paused before she fully focused on Chuck. "Take me back to that moment when you wanted to find out the reason why Kaitlyn didn't want her dedication song?"

"Well…," the nerd responded.

"What's going on Kaitlyn?" wondered Chuck, expressing a mixture of perplexed confusion.

"The reason I don't want a dedication song is because I got my wish granted." Kaitlyn revealed.

It took a second before Chuck realized what Kaitlyn was talking about. "Make-A-Wish Foundation?" He furrowed his eyebrows for a brief moment before he pressed on. "It's one of the organizations Nerdy Nerfherder and Fuzzball partnered with. The hospital included." he noted, sharing the information with everyone watching.

"Yeah," nodded Kaitlyn. "That's what Chief Beckman told me."

Chuck arched his right brow after hearing the Chief Administrator's name. "You talked to Chief Beckman?"

"I asked Nurse Alex first if I could talk to her," Kaitlyn took a moment and briefly looked back over her right shoulder at Alex who was still standing next to her parents. "She said she'd get back to me?"

"I get it," Chuck shrugged his shoulders. "You pretty much have a golden ticket like Charlie found in the chocolate bar in the movie Willy Wonka."

"I've seen that movie," smiled Kaitlyn. "Johnny Depp was in it."

"That was the remake. I was actually talking about the original movie that starred Gene Wilder." Chuck clarified.

"Who?"

The moment Kaitlyn responded with "who" it made an impact and felt like he got shot. At that moment, he truly felt old and wanted to take a nap, especially knowing the original movie came out in 1971. As much as Chuck wanted to sit down with the 15-year-old and discuss how the original movie was way better than the remake, he decided against it. Instead, he just moved on.

"So, what wish strings did Chief Beckman pull for you with Make-A Wish?" wondered Chuck. A few seconds later, his eyes suddenly widened. "You got your favorite band or singer to perform, didn't you? Who is it? What sort of music are you kids into these days?" 30 Seconds To Mars? My Chemical Romance?" He quickly shook his head. He sat there in front of the 15-year-old trying to think of any or all popular singers or bands for a teenager. "Bieber. Is it Justin Bieber?" he blurted out.

"Ewwww." Kaitlyn responded, expressing a cringeworthy look on her face.

"I take that as a hard no." Chuck sarcastically retorted. His response combined with Kaitlyn's reaction caused everyone in the courtyard to laugh. It was back to the mental drawing board for the nerdy host. In any case, it wasn't long before the nerdy business owner snapped his fingers and directly pointed at the young woman. "I got it! Taylor Swift!"

Kaitlyn shook her head. "It's not a singer or a band." she revealed.

Once again, perplexed confusion appeared on Chuck's face but with befuddled bewilderment now added as well. "What did you wish for?"

All eyes were on Kaitlyn as everyone not only in the courtyard, but online as well were eagerly awaiting the young woman's answer with bated breath. They wouldn't have too long when the 15-year spoke up.

"Before I answer your question," responded Kaitlyn. "Can Chief Beckman and Chief Walker come up here?" she inquired, asking permission from Chuck.

"I had no idea what was going on. Usually, I'm in full control of the show but," Chuck shared, shaking his head. "At that very moment, the control was completely out of my hands, "he further recalled.

"That was the intent, Chuck," Beckman stated, sitting next to him. "To keep you in the dark. Only a couple of people knew what was about to happen." the Chief Administrator revealed.

"So, Chuck's surprise plan was pretty much a surprise for him and the audience." Bentley pointed out.

"Yeah," nodded Kaitlyn. "I was so nervous leading up to that moment. I didn't want to mess up."

Chuck shook his head and grinned at the 15-year-old sitting to his right. "You could have fooled me. You did awesome and it didn't look like you were nervous at all." Afterwards, he turned his attention over to Chief Beckman. "Emma, I get it. Casey, I can understand. However," The youngest Bartowski sibling shook his head in disbelief. "I honestly can't believe you let Morgan do what he did."

"Neither can I," Beckman responded, shaking her head. "He would only agree on one condition, which truly surprised me."

"You and me both, Chief," acknowledged Chuck. "I guess Morgan was able to keep one secret from me growing up together. He is full of surprises." he further added.

"After contacting Make-A-Wish I let them know about Kaitlyn's wish. Although it's a type of wish they've never really handled before " Beckman stood next to Sarah who was on her left while Chuck and Kaitlyn were on her right.. "They gladly said they would help in any way they could because it was considered absolutely special." she further shared.

"Why?" wondered Chuck.

"What's so special about your wish, Kaityln?" Sarah asked.

"Us?" Chuck and Sarah responded, in unison.

"Don't freak out, but" The young woman warned the both of them ahead of time. "My wish is for the both of you to get married."

"When?" wondered Chuck.

"Today." answered Kaitlyn.

Chuck and Sarah's eyes widened after they heard Kaityln's wish. Of course, the courtyard crowd's reaction was far different as they erupted in joyful glee in hopes of a surprise wedding happening. Needless to say, Chuck and Sarah were left absolutely speechless and at the same time found themselves in a very awkward position. A position in which all eyes were quite literally on them. What made the situation even more awkward was the fact the courtyard crowd was mixed in their reaction of wondering what their decision was going to be while others were chanting for them to get married.

Fortunately, Beckman stepped forward and calmed everyone down in order to help Chuck and Sarah feel like they were not getting pressured into getting married. Afterwards, Beckman informed Morgan to go to break before she ushered all 3 of them away for a moment towards the pediatric walkway so they could speak privately. Once privacy was provided, Beckman made sure to check on the mental and emotional well-being of all 3 individuals. Thankfully, it gave the Chief Administrator the opportunity to speak with them one on one without any distraction coming from the courtyard crowd.

"When I met with Kaitlyn," Beckman placed her right hand on the young woman's left shoulder. "She explained the reason she wanted to make her wish come true and I completely understood why." Afterwards, she turned her attention towards Chuck and Sarah. "All I ask is that the both of you hear her out."

"We will." acknowledged Chuck.

At that moment, Beckman watched as Kaitlyn took a deep breath before speaking from the heart like she did in her office. For the auburn-haired Chief Administrator, she was very impressed how the 15-year-old was determined in taking the initiative to make something magical happen for two people she truly cared for and admired. She intended on giving up her wish to do whatever or go wherever the young woman wanted to make two people's dreams come true. A very commendable and selfless act, she thought to herself.

"Both of you were looking forward to getting married months ago but it didn't happen. It was all ruined. What happened to Chuck was bullshit and I'm glad that woman is in jail. I hope she never gets out." Kaitlyn shared, expressing her feelings. "Sorry for swearing." She lowered her head considerably embarrassed.

Sarah smiled. "It's okay."

Chuck cracked a soft grin. "I think you get a free pass this time."

Beckman continued to watch and listen from where she was standing. She saw the 15-year-old respond with an appreciative smile and it wasn't long before she took a seat on the nearest bench. After she did, Chuck rolled over in his wheelchair and stopped in front of the young woman. As for Sarah, she took a seat next to her and listened to more of what Kaitlyn had to say.

"You two have been through a lot and are meant to be with each other. I," She stopped and corrected herself. "We've all seen the way you've looked at one another and wanted to be together. So, what was stopping you?" Kaitlyn saw Chuck was about to say something and cut him off before he did. "And don't say it was complicated. Do you love each other?" she asked, looking directly at Sarah.

"I do," Sarah softly responded. "I've never stopped loving him," she further added. "We just needed to give each other space. That's all."

Chuck nodded. Afterwards, his attention went from Kaitlyn to Sarah. He reached over to hold her holds in his. "I just needed time to figure things out, get closure and gain something back from an old friend."

"It took you long enough." responded Kaitlyn, shaking her head. A few seconds later, she reached out placing her right hand on Chuck's left forearm while her left was held in between Sarah's hands. "Whatever happened between the two of you, it's water under or over something or another."

"I think the saying is "all water under the bridge", Chuck responded, doing his best not to laugh.

"Whatever," Kaitlyn rolled her eyes and resumed speaking. "What I'm trying to say is you two deserve to be happy. From what Chief Beckman told me," The 15-year-old looked at Sarah. "You don't have to worry about anything. Everything has been being handled. So," Kaitlyn made sure she locked eyes with Chuck and Sarah in order to get their full attention. "What are you two waiting for?"

There was a momentary lull after Kaitlyn took the opportunity and attempted to nudge them along. A few seconds later, Beckman suddenly chimed in. "If I may add," Beckman chimed in. "Make-A-Wish, on behalf of Kaitlyn, will send you on an all-expense paid trip to wherever your heart's desire." she added, sweeting the offer.

Beckman watched as Chuck and Sarah continued not only holding hands but smiling at one another. Although they weren't saying anything at all to each other, it was a smile that spoke volumes for Kaitlyn and Beckman who clearly saw the love expressed between the two of them. They're far better together than they ever were apart, she thought to herself. Of course, Beckman couldn't help but smile and feel like a proud mentor/parent figure knowing Chuck and Sarah will forever be a match made in Heaven.
