Gamindustri…
Here in this reality shift realm are 4 presiding CPUs, better known as Console Patron Units.
A long time ago, they would reside in Celestia, a world separate from the Land they oversee.
CPU Black Heart, and her "Land of Black Regality" known as Lastation.
CPU White Heart, and her "Land of White Serenity" known as Lowee.
CPU Green Heart, and her "Land of Green Pastures" known as Leanbox.
CPU Purple Heart, and her "Land of Purple Progress" known as Planeptune.
For thousands of years did the CPUs fight endlessly in battle for rule over Gamindustri. The battle etched in history, known as the Console War…
3 years to this day, the Console War came to an end. The CPUs united to bring down a powerful foe and restore order to the land.
With those dark times behind them, Gamindustri returned to an era of peace once and for all…
On a large land mass that sat at the very center of Gamindustri was a forest. For as far as the eye could see there was an endless amount of forest that showed no signs of stopping. Every dozen feet or so was broken up by a small clearing however.
In the middle of one of the small clearings spawned a bright beacon of light, tall enough to go through the clouds above and beyond. Within that beacon of light manifested the figure of a person who became less obscured as the seconds passed.
Finally, the beacon of light would dissipate as quickly as it manifested into reality. All that it left behind was an individual standing where it once was. The individual in question had their hand extended out as if they were reaching for something and wore a thousand-yard stare on their face.
"...?"
The small trance the individual found themself in was quickly broken out of, prompting them to blink a few times. They would pull their hand back and stare directly into their palm for a moment, almost as if they were taking advantage of this moment for quiet reflection.
"...Hhrk…!"
… That, or they realized that they were about to lose their lunch.
Date:
Time: Unknown
Location: Gamindustri?
Now Following: Tamazaki
Holy fuck that was an awful experience. Why didn't anyone tell me that dimension travel makes you nauseous!? Everything is spinning and my stomach, oh my stomach ughhh…
I needed to take a minute to collect myself since I really don't want to lose my lunch… again. Now that I think about it, this is the second time today I've almost thrown up everything in my body. Really hoping that this doesn't become a trend…
Okay… I took a few deep breaths and I think I'm fin-
"Urk!..." I took another second and gulped.
Alright NOW I'm fine. I think I pushed everything down for real this time…
I wish Hinato mentioned the copious amount of nausea in his explanation, preferably before he did whatever it was that drained him of all his energy. I don't know, having some type of heads-up just would've been nice.
Anyway… Where am I? Some forest? A park? The colors around here are a lot more vibrant than what I'm used to. The color of the greenery where I'm from is more washed out because of all the pollution… or something like that.
It didn't look like there was an end to the trees no matter what direction I looked in, so there wasn't any harm in just choosing a random direction and walking… Unless there was a direction I was supposed to be walking in. I don't know if ending up here was some predetermined outcome or was entirely random, but-... Huh?
I took a step forward and felt my shoe land on something…Is crunchy even a suitable word…? You know what, I don't care, I'll just say crunchy. When I looked down I saw this pouch beneath my foot. It kind of reminded me of what you'd see in the older Legend of Zelda games when you found a wallet upgrade. I picked up the pouch off the floor and peeked into it-
"Whoa!"
An audible gasp escaped my lips, but for good reason. When I peered inside I saw that there were a shit ton of gold, silver, and bronze tokens with some 'C' logo engraved onto them. Was this money? It… It had to be money, right? It's looking like my earlier comment about this being a wallet wasn't too far off the mark.
There was also this piece of paper that was folded neatly on top of the tokens. I took the paper out, unfolded it with one hand, and looked at its contents:
To Tamazaki,
If you're reading this, then that means you've made it to Gamindustri in one piece… Though it may be possible you've "lost" a bit of weight. My deepest apologies, it slipped my mind to mention that dimension travel may have adverse effects on individuals who have yet to grow a resistance to it.
Jeez, thanks.
If my calculations were correct, you should currently be standing on a small peninsula located in the very center of Gamindustri. I'm not quite sure where on the peninsula you are, but in any case that shouldn't matter. Would you do me a favor and kindly look up before reading on?
Look up?
I raised my head and looked up into the sky. I didn't see anything in the immediate direction I was facing, but as I turned my head I caught a glimpse of something off in the distance. I can't tell you how far away it was but I could see the top half of this giant tree—which if I had to take a guess—was what Hinato wanted me to see.
Did you see it? The large tree? That, my friend, is Gamindustri's very own world tree. Rumor has it that the source of all power in the world stems from a powerful source of energy from within the tree… But as I mentioned, they are only rumors.
I would like for you to travel to the tree and search around the base of the trunk for the roots that are pointing towards any one of the nations. Once you have done so, you may read the contents on the back of this page for further instructions.
Well, at least he was nice enough to not leave me completely hanging. A little push in the right direction goes a long way.
(When was there ever a World Tree in Gamindustri…?)
But a World Tree, huh? Not gonna lie, the very concept of a World Tree is… kinda exciting. I like it when fantasy games or shows or whatever include one in their world (even if it is a convenient plot device at times). They're often pretty and the fact that there's an explanation for all the abnormalities in the world, regardless of how contrived it may be, always gets me hooked!
…
Ahem… I shouldn't be having a nerd moment right now. Thankfully this is just an internal monologue that I'm having, so nobody can hear me nerd out anyway.
"What the…? Who are those ladies and… are they levitating…?"
"Great, now he sees us."
"*bzzt* you're taking this way too seriously, don't you think?"
"Shut the hell up! If yer not gonna help then stay out my and watch me kill it myself!"
"Oh, one of them is coming over… Wait is that an axe? Hey wait wait WAIT-"
… Another one of those daydreams followed by another nosebleed, though admittedly something about that one seemed… different? Apart from me seemingly dying, of course.
Now that I'm thinking about it a bit more, wasn't I standing in a clearing a lot like this one in that daydream?
…
…
…You know, that World Tree is looking a lot more appealing the more I think about it. I think I'll get as far away from this place as I can and head on over to the tree.
Yeah… Yeah, that seems like a good idea.
I spent some time walking through the forests and making my way toward the tree. It was an uneventful journey, to say the least, though I can say with confidence I wasn't back home anymore. Sure, the World Tree kinda confirmed that already, but lingering doubts are also a thing.
I finally saw an end to the trees after some time and seemingly reached the edge of the forest. What awaited me at the end caused my jaw to drop involuntarily.
Before the young man stretched a landscape unlike anything he had ever seen before. A vast sea of green sprawled out in every direction, with the sharp blades of grass responding to the wind's gentle touch.
At the heart of it all stood Gamindustri's very own World Tree, a staple of the land that pierces the heavens themselves. Its towering trunk, which seemingly defied all reason, anchored an impossibly vast canopy of leaves that shined brightly when bathed in the sun's golden light. Even at a distance, the young man could feel a great power emanating from the tree itself.
Nestled against the trunk of the World Tree stood another structure. With a single glance, it appeared as if an assortment of spires, pillars, and archways had grown within the tree seeing how seamlessly they blended with the exterior. Another look would shed some additional light on the mysterious structures and reveal them to be manmade. The structure, or building— whatever it was, held great importance, without a doubt.
Finally, beyond the gaze of the structures, the grasslands, and the World Tree, were the distant silhouettes of strange cities, each of them vastly different from the other.
In the west, dark metallic structures rose like fortresses, their industrial nature unmistakable even at a distance.
Going northward, white peaks and delicate, castle-like shapes stood like something from a fairy tale.
South from which he came, was more rolling greenery blended seamlessly with towering cathedral-like buildings.
Finally to the east, a gleaming futuristic skyline, its towers and lights flickering even in the daylight.
This was, without a doubt, the land of Gamindustri.
… Alright uh… Wow. This is…uh… actually happening, isn't it? All the doubt that was inside me that was saying this was all fake and some wild dream just… evaporated.
I'm… really in another world. That's… That's crazy, haha…
I feel like… I feel like I should be more shocked. Don't get me wrong: This is still pretty baffling, but… somehow this feels normal? Me being whisked away to another world doesn't feel out of the ordinary. Standing here before all of this doesn't feel… wrong.
Why doesn't it feel wrong?
…
…
…
Man, I've barely started this "quest" of mine and I already feel the existentialism creeping in. Hinato said something about the roots of that giant tree, yeah? From where I was standing I was able to see the roots, which just goes to show you how big they are.
Let me see…
I would like for you to travel to the tree and search around the base of the trunk for the roots that are pointing towards any one of the nations. Once you have done so, you may read the contents on the back of this page for further instructions.
I've technically already found them but it says here "for the roots that are pointing towards any one of the nations". That means any of them should do, right?
If that's the case then I think I'll check out the one pointing toward that futuristic-looking nation or city or whatever they're apparently called. It's right past that structure built into the tree so I could potentially check it out while I'm heading over.
It was a bit of a walk, but compared to the trek I made through the forest? It wasn't really much of anything.
Even though I said I wanted to check out the structure in the tree, I decided against it once I got closer. I'm not entirely sure if what I saw was even correct, but I think this tree had some kind of security system in place-
…
… Okay, scratch that. The tree, with 100% certainty, has a security system in place. I just watched some kind of bird fly toward the front entrance of the structure and simultaneously disintegrate mid-air. I don't even think I've been here for a full hour and I just saw something that has now burnt itself into my psyche.
After witnessing that, I made the executive decision to drop my earlier plans of looking into that structure and continue with the main task that I was given. After a bit more walking, I came up on the tree root that pointed towards the futuristic-looking nation.
… Though to be honest, it doesn't look all that futuristic from where I'm standing. It looks a bit high-tech, yeah, but I was expecting to see flying cars or… you know, futuristic stuff?
Eh, whatever. I can save the actual review for when I get into the city. Since I'd been walking for a while I took the note back out of my pocket and sat on top of the tree root. I reread the front page to make sure I wasn't missing anything before I turned to the back.
Have you made it to the tree and approached one of the roots pointing toward a nation? Good!
Now to start DO NOT MAKE PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH THE ROOT.
If you do so without the appropriate-
-technique, there's a high possibility that you could risk hurting yourself and/or others. That is why you must follow my directions down to the letter-
Hang on a second, what's up with the wind? I couldn't feel anything other than a gentle breeze before, but now it feels like someone turned on a leaf blower right in front of my face.
Not even seconds after I took my eyes off the paper did I realize that my face was about to get acquainted with the cold, hard pavement that I was rapidly approaching.
Sigh.
(Cutscene Start)
[In the busy afternoon streets of Planeptune, a young woman walked down the fairly populated city streets]
Young Woman
(Sighing heavily on the phone)
"Look kid, I told you it's going to be fine. We're already running late and I'm much closer to the spot than I am to you."
…
"In the event things go wrong, I'm prepared for the worst. Have you forgotten who I am?"
…
Person on the other end
(Sighing)
"It's not I don't trust you, boss, it's that I don't trust them. I know you're one of the strongest humans in all of Gamindustri, but letting you walk into an ambush full of those freaks? Especially knowing what they're capable of? I don't think even you of all people could do something in what is likely to be the worst case scenario."
…
Young Woman
(Pinching the bridge of her nose, visibly frustrated)
"Look, Yaga-"
[As the young woman passes by an alley, she catches something in the corner of her eye. She quickly turns in time to see a person falling from the sky]
Player
(Landing and rolling off metal railing)
"AUGH"
…
(Rolling down grated stairway)
"Ough!"
…
(Bouncing off on top of dumpsters)
"Argh!"
…
(Faceplanting directly onto the pavement)
"Hn!"
[The young woman stares at the body before her, unblinking]
Person on the other end
"Boss? You there?...Boss?"
Young Woman
(Blankly)
"...I'll call you back."
[The young woman closes her flip phone and slides it into her pocket.]
[The young woman gets down on her knees before the person.]
Young Woman
"Hey… Are you alright?"
Player
"..."
Young Woman
(Worriedly with a hint of caution, reaching for the person)
"...He-
Player
(Suddenly, jolting up from the ground)
"BWAH!"
Young Woman
(Surprised)
"KYAA!"
[The young woman falls back onto her rear, causing a phone to fly out her pocket and into the inconveniently placed sewer drain behind her. The person looked around in a daze for a moment before suddenly regaining their senses and forming eye contact with the young woman before them, resulting in an awkward silence]

Ohh…
Ooh… Oww…!
Why… in the fresh FUCK WOULD YOU NOT TELL THAT BEFORE I WENT TO THE TREE?! ARE YOU TRYING TO GET ME KILLED!?
For fucksake, if I didn't know any better, I'd say this guy has it out for me! He didn't warn me about teleporting between dimensions or worlds or whatever, AND THEN told me not to do something at the worst possible time! Somehow everything I collided with during my descent down made the impact less severe, but FUCK my body is yearning for the sweet release.
I think the worst part about this? Someone apparently saw all of that! When I peeled myself off the ground, I made eye contact with this girl who was giving me the look of someone who just had their soul leave their body. I might not know who she is, but even I could tell her skin shouldn't be that pale.
There's this awkward silence too, which is normal considering what just happened but uh… I have no idea what to say. I mean, what do you even say to someone who just watched you fall out of the literal sky? I'm pretty sure there are very few responses that are applicable here.
"Uh…" The silence is killing me, "...Hi…?"
"...Hi…" She'd return my greeting but I could tell she was still on her guard after… that.
"You uh… saw all of that…?"
"Sure did…" She replied, "...You okay? That fall didn't look the smoothest,"
"I think I'll live," I slowly picked myself off the ground, "Would you believe me if I told you that fall didn't hurt all that much?"
I know I just said my body is screaming at me, but I'm not trying to embarrass myself even more after that. It seems like that didn't really matter too much because the look she gave me became significantly more judgemental in a matter of seconds.
God I don't normally find myself in these awkward situations, but considering how this is my first real interaction with a person from another world (not counting Hinato, that bitchass motherfucker), I'm really out of my element here.
"... You know what? Yeah, I think I can." Wait, seriously? "You wouldn't exactly be the first person I know of to fall from the sky and come out relatively unscathed…"
That's slightly concerning. I sure hope she isn't implying that people falling from the sky is generally an issue the people of this world have, or else I'm going to be in for a nasty surprise one of these days.
The girl let out a low sigh and started to pick herself off the ground. While she dusted herself off the ground, I was able to get a better look at her. She has-
Those sharp green eyes that were once full of vigor and life were dull and lifeless.
That bow that typically consisted of two leaves that now only had one.
That… oversized blue coat… now riddled with knife-like holes…
(I know who this is already)
(What is her name?)
Input: _
[Enter]
…
…
…
(What is her name?)
Input: IF
[Enter]
"Then again, past experiences have taught me that anyone who falls out of the sky certainly isn't normal…" She looked back at me, "The names'-"
"IF."
"-IF. I'm with the-" IF paused for a second as her gaze became more narrow, "Oh, do you already know who I am…?"
Huh…? Hang on, what did I even say? IF? That's the girl's name, right? She wouldn't have just asked me if I knew her if that wasn't it.
That just begs the question of how I knew her name. The name IF isn't exactly…a name at all now that I'm saying it again. So how did I know that…?
Mmm… Whatever. I should probably think of some excuse before she gets even more weirded out by me. I'm not sure why but this girl seems like the type of person to hide dangerous weaponry in her clothes, and that giant jacket she's wearing is a potential treasure trove of misery. I doubt she'd hesitate to use them on me if I stayed on her sus radar for too long.
"...Oh, uhh… I think I might've seen a picture of you somewhere," Let's hope this excuse works, "I remembered because of… your… coat! I've always wanted one as cool as that."
…
"... I guess that makes sense," Oh thank fuck she bought it, "A lot of people know my face one way or another, so I'm not surprised."
Wait, for real? Is she some big deal in this dimension?... You know, that felt like a stupid question to ask. She looks like someone who'd be apart of the hero's party in an RPG for one reason or another.
"Anyways, names' IF, but you already knew that." She had this confidence about her as she spoke, "And you are…?"
"Tamazaki is fine,"
"Tamazaki… Alright, that's a start," She crossed her arms, "Now, Tamazaki. Do you mind if I ask you why you fell from the sky just now?"
I don't think I could possibly tell her some dickhead who spoke to me in a dream left me a message and warned me not to do something until it was too late. I think that would automatically bump me up to 5 stars and earn me a surprise visit from the military.
"I… sat down somewhere and before I knew it, I was falling from the sky," That's not technically a lie…
"That doesn't sound normal, but given what's been happening lately, it's not out of the ordinary…"
"?"
"You're a civilian, right? Don't worry, it's not anything you should be worried about,"
"If you say so…By the way—sorry, I don't mean to change topics or anything—where am I?" I might've willingly chosen to come here but I don't know where *here* is.
"Huh? Is it not obvious?" IF tilted her head, "You're in Planeptune."
The busy streets would only grow crowded as time went on. Bright neon lights shone just as brightly in the day as they did during the night. Advertisements that showcased the latest and greatest consoles and innovations from the nation floated in the air.
Drones would zip through the skies, either delivering parcels/messages or racing through the city streets to their destination. Various vendors and storefronts hosted lines of citizens waiting excitedly to claim the latest products.
Modern yet, nostalgic. Chaotic yet orderly. While a paradox, this city was a perfect representation and byproduct of its people and ruler, CPU Purple Heart.
Planeptune, a city of boundless energy and endless innovation. It currently stands as a testament to the progress and creativity of its people. To the young man, everything felt strangely new… and yet, it was somehow disturbingly familiar.
Planeptune… That name sounds right. It might be a strange thing for me to say but there's something… homey about it too. I can't pinpoint why, but it just does.
"Look, despite claiming to be alright, you're clearly shaken up by that fall." The girl sighed, "There's a hospital a few blocks down that way. It's in the direction I'm heading so I can take you there if you want,"
"No, no, I think I'll be fine. I'm just a little shaken up, like you said." I turned down her offer, "I think I'm just… going to walk around, maybe find someplace to sit and get my bearings together."
I don't know what the medical industry is like in this world, but if it's anything like how it is back home then I'm not risking paying an arm and a leg just to get my arm and leg checked out. I doubt it would help that I don't exactly have a form of ID on me (though I doubt I'd get far if I had one since it probably wouldn't even be valid here in another world).
"If that's what you want to do then don't let me stop you," IF shrugged, "If you start feeling more than just 'shaken up' then go and get yourself checked out, alright?"
I started to shake my head and opened my mouth to say something, but she quickly turned and began walking away. "I'll see you around… probably…" Her voice grew distant as she departed.
"Yeah uh… See ya…"
I don't think she heard me. By the time I spoke, she had already disappeared into the crowd of people walking down the streets, leaving me all on my own once more.
You know, I realize I could've told her about… everything, but she didn't seem like the right person for that. Even if she somehow was, this was obviously a bad time for her given how much of a hurry she was in.
It's whatever, I don't really mind. To be honest I prefer doing things on my own or at the very least going at my own pace. I'm fine as long as I'm given directions or something…Speaking of directions…
I turned around and scanned the alleyway. Eventually, my eyes would land on a familiar leather pouch that had spilled out a bit of its contents, and a piece of paper that wasn't too far from fit. I went over and scooped whatever tokens had spilled out back into the wallet and picked it and the paper up.
"Let's see what you have to say, you POS…"
Now to start DO NOT MAKE PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH THE ROOT.
If you do so without the appropriate technique, there's a high possibility that you could risk hurting yourself and/or others. That is why you must follow my directions down to the letter, understand?
A bit too late for that, don't you think?
To start, you take your finger and trace it across the innermost carving of the root. After you do so, close your eyes. The next time you open them, you should find yourself within the appropriate nation.
… Seriously? That's it? Why couldn't you just tell me that from the start!? That would've saved me an awkward encounter and an unneeded free fall!
Sigh. Okay, calm down Trenton. You're getting angry at words written on a piece of paper again.
When you wish to return to the World Tree, you need only repeat a slightly modified version of the aforementioned steps. Find any tree within the nation and place your hand on any part of the tree. Do note that it doesn't have to be the root if you need to travel *to* the World Tree. Close your eyes and envision the World Tree in your mind. When you open them, you should be right where you want to be! Amazing, right?
It's just fast travel in real life. That's… kinda cool, actually.
Oh! Oh! One other thing! I wasn't able to test it myself before I was imprisoned, but I theorized that it was possible to control where the World Tree teleports you should you visit a specific place enough times to burn its image into your memory. Additionally, it should be possible to teleport to areas within a nation without returning to the World Tree. When I'm a free man, I'd like to see if it's possible to teleport to other nations without traveling back to the World Tree.
But I digress. You now know how to travel from nation to nation. This will be your primary way of transportation for the time being, so make good use of it!
It felt like he was going on for a lot longer than he needed to, but I think I get it. Trace the inner root carving, and I can go anywhere I want, especially if I visit there enough times. I can get back to the World Tree from any tree in the nation.
Because he was going on for so long, it feels a bit more complicated than it needs to be. I guess I can keep this on me and look at it if I ever get confused again.
One last thing: The pouch you were given contains 10,000 credits, which is Gamindustri's currency. I would highly suggest you use it sparingly until you obtain a stable method of earning money.
10,000's in here!? This thing is seriously light for a bag holding 10,000 coins!... Then again, the idea of something being "heavy" is a concept lost to me since I'm a freak…
