Returning from the Lake House kinda sucked really, even if it was nice to be home and see everyone again. Weird how things change and yet, stay the same.

Walter felt older somehow this year, looking at himself in the mirror he saw himself as a stronger, more sturdy framed man. Funny that there is no blood from the Harkness side in him like there is no Jones in Stephen but both boys were so solid and well turned out, showing that both parentals had a touch to their development.

Walter liked the fact his shoulders were so broad, like Grandfather Hallet. He knew when he was fully grown he would be more like that side of his family in the fact he was wide set, strong chested and he also knew the great legs, arse and height came from Taddy, as much as his fine looks.

The winter was still there, the snow was great and although he did like skiing, he really preferred the sludging along dragging the little sled behind him as Tonny sat on it screaming with glee, clapping those pudgy hands.

With one last look at himself he headed out to do just that, going to get the nice new coat Tad had purchased and placed on his peg by the back door without even commenting on the fact he was now too big for it. The old coat would be placed in the hall where all the clothes went for villagers that wanted to 'shop' for something. It was nice to share and they were all one big weird family I guess.

Walter was soon walking sedately along the road, Dad still getting the snow plough fired up since he seemed to be the only one it would go for when so very cold. By this afternoon the cars would be moving around with the roads clear and no doubt Dad at the forefront of getting driveways sorted as well.

Fen and Walter would help shovelling the snow for the old biddies so they can get to their letterboxes and Ton would 'help' by throwing salt rock everywhere, this something they had to remind him constantly did NOT go in the gardens.

Yeah, it was nice to go away to the Lake House where Tad was just Tad and Dad was just Dad. Theirs, no sharing. But it was also good to be home, even as it meant madness and bluster while everyone gratefully took their instructions.

Really, they did sort of own this place and it was nice.

It owned them too.

Walter could live with that.
