After finishing battling Phoenix Izuku leaves heading towards the entrance to Route One excited about starting his journey. As he walks out of town looking at the map on his Pokédex he sees that it will take about a day to reach Accumula Town. Izuku walks down the path for a bit encountering wild Patrats and Pidoves who he battles using Joltik and Litwick. Izuku stops for lunch, filling two bowls of food before setting them before Litwick and Joltik who cry out happily before digging in. Izuku sits down on a rock taking out a sandwich and eats his own lunch while looking at his Pokédex for moves to teach Litwick and Joltik. Seeing that Joltik can learn bug bite easily while Litwick can learn will-o-wisp. Izuku decides that instead of finishing the journey to Accumula Town today to start training Joltik and Litwick for the rest of the day. After they finish their lunch he wipes down the bowls storing them in his bag before heading into the forest to see a grassy clearing with a few logs and rocks.
After walking to the middle Izuku turns to Litwick and Joltik and says to them in a serious voice, " Ok we are going to be training the strengths of your attacks as well as a new move for each of you. Joltik you are going to be learning Bug Bite and Litwick you're going to be learning Will-O-Wisp. After an hour of practicing the new moves we will be trying to increase the strength of your attacks so we can be ready for the first Gym." The two Pokémon cheer with determination in their eyes. Izuku leads Joltik over to a fallen log before saying, "So, Joltik for Bug Bite I'm going to have you try and bite through this log with the bug type energy. If you need any help let me know I'm going to be showing Litwick what to do." Izuku smiles as Joltik eagerly starts attacking the log, before leading Litwick over to a dirt patch with a huge boulder. "For you Litwick I'm going to have you launch flames at this rock, but try and concentrate on just burning your opponent and not doing any damage. Remember to follow all safety checks," Izuku says smiling.
After, Izuku sits down on a log where he can see both Litwick and Joltik as he pulls out a notebook with the label saying Subway boss training for the future number 5. Izuku opens it to the first page and starts writing everything down about Joltik and Litwick from strengths, weaknesses, and strategies he can use to help guide them to victory. A few hours go by with them training the moves before moving onto strength training. Then as it gets dark Izuku stops for the evening. As the sun starts setting they eat dinner and set up for the night. As Izuku climbs into his sleeping bag he says with a yawn, "Good night Litwick Joltik. Tomorrow we will reach Accumula Town." Joltik chirps quietly while crawling onto Izuku chest, "Jol-Jol-Joltik-tik." Litwick lets out a small cry while laying on to a stump, "Lii-Litwick."
The next morning Izuku gets up, packs his sleeping bag and gets dressed back into his Subway outfit to head out the forest back onto the path to Accumula Town after Joltik jumps onto his hat and Litwick returns to its Pokéball. After getting onto the path it takes two hours of peaceful walk to get to Accumula Town.
After reaching town Izuku walks into the Pokémon Mart to buy more Pokémon food and some potions. Walking out, Izuku looks around for a moment to see a big green building with a Pokéball themed battlefield sign. Izuku smiles before heading towards it saying, "Alright Joltik the place we are heading to is called the Battle Club. It lets us battle with other trainers while we can pick the types of battles we want to participate in. This way I can get you and Litwick more experience battling other trainers' Pokémon." As Izuku finishes talking to Joltik he walks through the sliding doors. Seeing some terminals he walks up seeing he needs to type in his information and what Pokémon he wants to use for battles. After putting in his information he heads to the battlefields to see if there is anyone wanting to battle. When he walks in he sees a tall man in a gym uniform with brown hair talking to a young girl trainer his age with blond hair. The trainer notices him before both turn to face him. "Hello young man my name is Don George I run this Battle Club," the man known as Don George says. " I'm Izuku Kandó. This is one of my partners, Joltik, and I was just looking around to see if anyone is wanting to battle," Izuku says with a small smile while pointing at Joltik. The young trainer then says, " My name is Clara and I would love to battle you. Is two vs two ok?" "Sure that sounds like fun. Let's have a serious battle, they are the most fun," Izuku replies excitedly. "I'll referee the battle," Don George says while smiling.
Izuku and Clara walk to opposite ends of the battlefield. "Come on out Deerling." Clara calls while tossing a Pokéball into the air. In a flash of light a Summer Deerling appears. Izuku smiles before saying, "Joltik full speed ahead." Joltik jumps off his head onto the field chattering excitedly while hopping around. Don George looks to both of them before saying, " Let the battle begin." "Deerling, use tackle," Clara calls out. Deerling shoots forward towards Joltik. "Joltik, jump to the side and use string shot on Deerling's legs," Izuku calls out. Joltik jumps out of the way barely in time before shooting string shot and tangling up Deerling. "No Deerling, try and escape those threads and use sand attack," Clara cries out in desperation. "Joltik, full speed ahead with electroweb then try to use the new move Bug Bite," Izuku yells while pointing forward with his right arm. Joltik skitters forward landing an electroweb just as Deerling escapes the threads. Deerling gets knocked back and electrified by the attack stumbling a bit as Joltik jumps forward starting to use Bug Bite only for the attack to fade. "Deerling, use Double kick then Leer," Clara says excitedly.
Deerling jumps forward, turning and hitting Joltik away before using Leer startling Joltik. "Now finish that little bug with a tackle attack," Clara says happily. Deerling charges forward at a much slower speed. "Keep smiling Joltik and use electroweb full power, " Izuku shouts with worry. Joltik jumps forward while launching an electroweb with all the strength Joltik has left while crying out. It hits the charging Deerling head on causing it to fly back being held in place under the web. After the attack disappears Deerling is seen knocked out with sparks going across its body. "Deerling is unable to battle, Joltik wins." Don George calls out. Clara recalls Deerling before sending out her final Pokémon; "it's showtime Purrloin," Clara yells, sending out her final Pokémon. Purrloin appears with a smirk on its face. "Joltik come on back, all aboard Litwick," Izuku calls. Joltik jumps back onto Izuku as Litwick appears on the battlefield, flame roaring bright. "Let the battle between Purrloin and Litwick begin," Don George raises his hand. " Purrloin, use fury swipes, " Clara says.
Purrloin rushes forward on two legs and tries striking Litwick only for the attacks to have no effect. "What's going on?" Clara asks. "Litwick is part ghost type so no normal type attacks will affect him," Izuku says while straightening his hat and the other arm behind his back. "Oh that's going to be a problem because my Purrloin only knows normal type attacks right now," Clara responds, looking a little sad. " That's alright we can stop the battle here. Joltik and I got a lot of experience battling against you.Also just because this track ended doesn't mean we won't meet again and battle later" Izuku says. "That sounds like an excellent idea, young man. That way both of you have a fair chance in the battle," Don George says with a laugh. "Yea you're right. We'll see you later!" Clara says excitedly while returning Purrloin and running out of the Battle Club.
