No-One But You (The Star Child's Eclipse)

Chapter 101: ANOMALY (Part 1)

"What's an…ANOMALY?"

Sofia Strange was still reading the book her father actually STOLE from the X-mansion when he was younger, and she came across a word that she didn't understand.

Luckily, the "big blue" Beast was still there, in his office, so she politely asked him a question.

Dr. Hank McCoy was working on something, but he looked up as soon as he heard Sofia's gentle voice.

She was the only little one in his private library, and truth be told, the X-Men weren't sure how advanced Sofia's intelligence actually was.

They had a number of assessments planned out for her, so they could put her in the correct program, but all of those details would work themselves out over time.

"Let's see, an anomaly is something that isn't easy to classify, or, it's something different from what's expected."

Beast wasn't sure what Sofia was actually reading in that moment, but he turned back to his work after he gave her his definition of the word.

Hmm..

Sofia's focus returned to the book, then her tiny hands started skimming through the first half of the pages.

She had to tackle the thing in small doses, because she was afraid to damage it, and Sofia thought it was too big for her to flip open the entire thing…

"Does every Sorcerer Supreme create their own book? I think this one was written by one of them, a loooong long time ago."

Hmm?

Dr. McCoy wasn't as familiar with the world of the "magic" and the "mystic" as he should have been, because his research was mainly based on logic.

Sofia's question did intrigue him tho, so the mutant looked over in her direction once again.

"I'm not sure, little one. You're going to have to unravel that mystery… and educate me on the subject."

The "big blue" Beast would never lie, and he wanted Sofia to ultimately become the expert.

That's what her father wanted as well, and the mutant smiled at the thought.

OH GREAT.

Someone very loud and PROUD came stomping into Dr. McCoy's peaceful office, shortly after Sofia Strange asked her question..

Eleanor Camacho was put to task once again, because they all had a schedule to follow.

She was supposed to escort Sofia outside, because it was playtime, so…

"You're supposed to go outside with me, so hurry up."

Whoa. How rude.

Sofia Strange refused to be RUSHED in such a rude manner, so she blinked a number of times before she looked back down at her books.

A thought crossed her mind about the authors of those books, and she began to wonder if her father was writing one.

Did all the "former" Sorcerer Supremes keep track of their adventures? If so… did that mean Victor Von Doom had a book she could read as well?

Her father told her that Doom used to "serve" as the Sorcerer Supreme, when he was younger.

So, did HE have a book? If so, Sofia really wanted to find it…

"HELLOOOOOOOO. MISS SNOOTY BRAT, WE HAVE TO GO. I'M NOT GOING TO BE LATE BECAUSE OF YOU, AND YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LATE BECAUSE OF ME."

That's what Charles Xavier said, and Ellie wasn't in the MOOD to get into any sort of trouble.

It felt like Eleanor didn't have Sofia's full attention in that moment, so she started making as much noise as possible.

OH, she started knocking on all the tables and chairs, then she started pushing over a couple of things that were on some random desk.

Let's go, go go. Hello?

UGH. Sofia literally kicked at her, because she wanted Eleanor Camacho to GO AWAY.

And, was she just called a SNOOTY BRAT?

Sofia's face turned sour once again… because that little "Star Child" finally processed what Eleanor actually said.

"YOU ARE SO ANNOYING."

"WOW, you think I care?"

Fight me over it, SNOOTY BRAT.

Eleanor matched Sofia's anger and attitude in that moment, so the "big blue" Beast gave a sigh and intervened.

He told the girls to simmer down, or they'd have to report to someone named Scott Summers.

They'd be "put to work" if that happened, and Sofia Strange absolutely refused to entertain that any further.

She tried to take a book with her, but it was too heavy, so she SULKED… and reluctantly followed after Eleanor.

UGH. That girl stopped and talked to everyone along the way, and her noise carried on all the way out to the playground.

Sofia didn't know how to PLAY STUPID GAMES, so she kept her arms crossed and inwardly cursed her parents, for the TORMENT….
