Chapter 24

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Part 2

As Molly and her friends explored more oft the new world they visited, they started to help Lunella and Devil fight back against the Heartless to protect their home. However, the Heartless weren't the only problems that Molly and the others had to deal with. They also had to help out with detaining criminals, whether it was bank robbers or getaway drivers.

So far, this had been an exciting day for Molly and Libby as this made them both feel like superheroes. After a whole day of crimefighting, things started to calm down before Luella took Devil to the park so he could take a break.

"Okay, Devil! We'll be back soon." Lunella announced, to which Devil gave a roar in response. "No, you can't rip the trees out of the ground. We've been over this! They are not sticks to play with."

"Wait, you can understand what he is saying?" Xehanort raised a confused eyebrow.

Lunella nodded. "Of course! When Devil and I are friends for as long as we have been, we really do understand each other. I know its kind of weird to be friends with a dinosaur, but Devil and I always have each others backs no matter what!"

"I don't think it's weird at all! Trust me, I know what its like to have an unusual friend!" Molly commented, having a ghost as a best friend.

"So, now that we dealt with all the Heartless and crime around here, what should we do now?" Libby asked.

"Hmm. I think I know what we can do." Casey thought of an idea. "Lunella, I think our new friends might be interesting in going to the skate rink."

Liking the sound of that idea, Lunella replied, "That's a great idea, Casey! Everyone, I know the perfect spot for us to relax! Follow me!"

With that, Lunella switched out of her Moon Girl attire into her regular attire, which consisted of a black t shirt, a pink skirt over her blue jeans, and a pair of shoes that her black and pink in color. As Lunella and Casey led their new friends through the city, Libby had been wondering about something that has been on her mind for awhile.

"So, Lunella. How is it that you were able to befriend a dinosaur in the first place? Aren't they kind of extinct?" Libby asked, trying to make sense of this.

"Well, it's kind of a long story! Not to brag, but I'm kind of a genius when it comes to making gadgets! Anyway, I once created this portal that brought Devil into our world! We have been best friends since then!" Lunella remembered.

"Wow! So, you and Devil have been fighting crime since then?" Molly asked. "That's incredible, Lunella!"

"Thanks, Molly! And it's like my mom always says, 'One girl can make a difference!'"

"It sounds like your mom is really wise, Lunella!" Libby commented.

Lunella nodded in response. "She really is! In fact, you are going to meet her, along with the rest of my family pretty soon! They all work at the skate rink over there!"

At that moment, Lunella pointed towards a nearby skate rink with a sign that read, "Roll With It." Having never been to a skate rink before, Molly, Libby, and Xehanort followed Lunella and Casey inside, where they found visitors skating on rollerblades in the center. Both, Molly and Libby looked around in awe as everyone around them seemed to be having a fun time.

Before long, Lunella led her friends to a nearby DJ table, where they met Lunella's mom, Adria. Just like Lunella, Adria had dark brown hair and wore a black t-shirt with the logo of the skate rink at the front, and a pair of olive jeans, along with a pair of black, white, and orange shoes.

As she noticed her daughter, Adria took the microphone of the DJ table and said, "Hope everyone is having a good time! We're going to be taking a 30 minute break, and we'll have the next song ready."

After making her announcement, Adria left the DJ table to meet up with her daughter, "Lunella, where have you been? We told you that you had to work here an hour ago."

"Uh, sorry, Mom. I was hanging out with Casey, and I kind of lost track of time." Lunella lied.

In response, Casey played along with a nervous grin. "Sorry, Mrs. Lafayette! It won't happen again!"

"Just remember to be on time next time." Adria sighed before noticing Molly and the others. "Oh, hello! Are you three friends of Lunella?"

Molly nodded. "Of course! My name is Molly McGee, this is my girlfriend, Libby, and the quiet one over there is Xehanort!"

"Well, it's nice to meet all of you!" Adria smiled. "Hope you three enjoy rollerskating because rollerskating is free for today only!"

"Wow, really?" Libby exclaimed. "That's a really generous offer, Mrs. Lafayette! We'll all think about it!"

"In the meantime, I'll have to introduce you to the rest of my family!" Lunella spoke up.

With that, Lunella showed her new friends around the skating rink, where she introduced her father, James, her grandfather, Pops, and her grandmother, Mimi. Molly and Libby happily interacted with Lunella's family, while Xehanort simply stood by himself in silence. This made Molly and Libby wish that Xehanort would loosen up and have fun for once.

Unfortunately, they knew that there was nothing they could do about it. A few moments went by before Libby and Casey spoke to each other to get to know each other better.

"So, you had your Bat Mitzvah too?" Libby asked. "How did it go?"

"Let's just say it was interesting to say the least. I kind of went through a lot of drama with Lunella during my Bat Mitzvah, but we worked it out!"

"Oh, trust me! I've been there!" Libby commented, thinking back to when Molly tried to give her the best Bat Mitzvah ever.

Casey giggled before taking notice of Xehanort in the corner. "So, your friend, Xehanort doesn't seem to be much of a social butterfly."

"I can't argue with that, but he is actually a decent guy once you get to know him." Libby never thought she would have said that, especially considering how his future self tried to kill her and Molly back in their first journey.

After spending time with Lunella and her family, Molly sat down right next to Xehanort.

"This place is amazing, Xehanort! The Lafayettes are all really nice!" Molly exclaimed.

Xehanort nodded. "Yes, they are all very hospitable."

"Are you sure that you don't want to spent time with the others? The snacks at the snack bar are pretty great!" Molly offered Xehanort a candy bar.

"I think I'll pass."

Molly gave a defeated sigh in response, "Xehanort, maybe if you give it a chance, you would be able to make more friends who would end up being like family to you."

Xehanort looked down in silence before he replied, "Eraqus is the only family I have left."

Thinking back to all of the friends Xehanort lost, Molly had no doubt that he had a rough past. They both sat in awkward silence before Xehanort suddenly asked an unexpected question.

"So, are you going to ask Libby to skate with you?"

"Huh?" Molly asked with a puzzled look.

"It seems that Mrs. Lafayette is going to be playing a slow romance song. You don't want to miss your chance." Xehanort explained.

At that moment, Molly took one look at Libby and smiled, liking the sound of that idea. After asking Libby to skate with her, the two of them put on their skate shoes and entered the rink, the moment the slow romance song began to play. The moment they reached the center of the rink, Molly and Libby began to slip and stumble, neither of them that good at skating.

"Whoa! This is a lot harder than it looks." Molly said, doing her best to keep her balance.

"Don't worry, Molly! I think I'm getting the hang of it! Aaah!" Libby screamed as she tripped once more.

At the last moment, Molly caught Libby before she fell. Molly helped Libby back up as they both stared lovingly towards each other. Now that they were finally getting used to skating, they began to skate along to the music.

As he stared at Molly and Libby, Xehanort couldn't help but give a smile, feeling happy for Molly and Libby. This didn't go unnoticed by Lunella though, so she approached him to have an actual conversation with him.

"Is that a smile I see? Looks like you are not as emotionless as you seem!" Lunella commented.

In response, Xehanort immediately dropped his smile before awkwardly looking away. "Well, don't get used to it. I'm only traveling with those two until I return home."

"Fair enough! It still seems that you have been through a lot with them, already." said Lunella.

"I suppose you are right." Xehanort replied, thinking back to all of his encounters with Molly and Libby. "They can be a little weird at times, Molly in particular, but I guess I do see them as pretty good friends."

A couple of hours went by before the sun started to set and everyone left the skate rink. Both, Molly and Libby had a lot of fun, not only from skating, but from spending time with their new friends.

"Today has been amazing, Lunella!" Molly exclaimed. "After all that we been through on our adventure, it was nice to relax and have fun for a change!"

"And the best part is that we haven't seen anymore Heartless! Maybe they're all gone!" Libby said, feeling hopeful.

Suddenly, Casey took notice of something in the distance and started to panic. With a trembling finger, Casey pointed behind Lunella and said, "Lunella? You might want to look behind you."

Confused, Lunella turned around and was surprised to see a beam of darkness in the distance. Just when Molly and the others thought they got rid of all the Heartless in the world, it appeared that there were still some more that they missed.

"It appears that there are more Heartless lurking around." Xehanort noticed.

Lunella had no idea what the Heartless were up to this time, but was confident that she can handle anything as long as she is able to fight by her friends' side.

"It doesn't matter how many Heartless are still around! There is nothing we can't handle together! I'll go get Devil and meet you where the darkness is at!"

With that, Lunella put on her Moon Girl attire and hurried to meet up with Devil. Ready to put a stop to the darkness once more, Molly and the others rushed over towards the beam of darkness. Molly and Libby couldn't explain why, but they got the feeling that this wasn't any ordinary darkness they were about to face. Whatever happened, they knew that they should be ready for anything.
