Chapter 6

Surround by darkness, 'Zero' positioned himself in a lounge on his side, watching Maru run around defying the law of gravity and physics. His new Yukata, wore improper, slipped off his shoulders in a sensual display.

The sound of a knock draw his attention.

The shadow of the bookshelf ripple and darkens as the shape of a head surface, the darkness flows off like water revealing silver hair.

'Zero' stares at the door waiting to see if they would knock again.

At the following taps he emerge from the shadow on the floor then heads to the door.

Maru peeks out a second later curious watching his master then ducks back in sensing no danger.

Opening the door reveal a smiling Takuma Ichijo.

"Good evening Kiryu, I see you aren't ready for classes yet" the blond frowns slightly.

"Yeah lost track of time, I'll be ready in a minute" he didn't bother fixing his disheveled state exposing pale shoulders and legs.

"Right, I just came to tell you we'll be leaving in five minutes" the blond try not to stare at the hunter's state of dress, a bit taken aback.

"Ok, see you down stairs then" he close the door once Takuma leaves.

'Zero' walks down the steps, just as the night students are about to leave, dressed properly in the night class uniform, stifling a small yawn into his palm, ignoring the vampire's stares and glares.

"Now that everyone's here lets go" Kaname states leading the group to the gates.

'Zero' walk behind the nobles in a daze then the gates open revealing the vampires, the day students present starts shouting excitedly for their favorite night student, as usual, while they walk by but when the silverette comes into view, dressed in the night uniform, they quiet for a moment then whispers start amongst them.

"Is that Kiryu?"

"What's he doing in the night class?"

"It's not fair"

"There goes our eye candy"

Yuki, that almost got trampled by the rowdy students, watch them leave quietly after Kaname greets her per usual thought 'Zero' didn't spear her a glance, leaving with his new classmates.

'Zero' stares out the window lost in thoughts as the teacher drone on about the lesson. He can feel Kumaru moving around inside his shadow, hopping in and out of others in the classroom occasionally, almost unnoticed.

Kaname Kuran had sensed the familiar's presence the second it left the hunter's shadow, he doesn't know it's owner but let it be, having not felt any ill intent.

"That's it for todays lesson, we'll pick up at our next class" the teacher announce then leaves.

A minute later Toga Yagari enters the classroom drawing 'Zero' attention.

They made eye contact but he didn't look away instead raise a brow when the older man narrow his eye.

"Starting today I will be your new ethics teacher, the hunter announce, but before that, a smirk curve his lips, hello vampires."

That cause the nobles to go in an uproar (except Kaname).

'Zero' ignore the commotion to telepathically order Kumaru back to his shadow, staring out at the night sky thinking about plans for the future.

"That's it for now, Zero follow me" Yagari demands then walk out.

"What is it?" the silverette ask once he catch up to 'His' former teacher outside, away from the classroom, alone.

"As uncute as ever, he sighs, listen kid that woman is still alive"

"Really, he drawls, you don't say" the teen roll his eyes.

"You don't seem surprise" the older hunter ponders the younger's nonchalant towards news about his family murder.

"Should I be, he walks ahead, she's a pureblood a rarity to their kind, there's hardly any danger towards her-except maybe a few competent hunters and the vampires would rather protect than let her die by hunters, of course she's alive" he deadpans, turn to face Yagari while crossing his arms across his chest.

"Brat, such an ungrateful student, he grunts as they stop steps away from the school building entrance, just be on alert she may come after you" he warns.

"I pray she does" the silverette voice menacingly.

Yagari ruffles the teen's hair fondly then leaves ignoring the boys protest at messing up his hair.

'He's doing exceptionally better than I thought, I didn't think the idiot was telling the truth and about his change temperament' he hums thoughtful.

A young Rozu blinked up in surprise at the close ceiling. Eyes widen he lifted one arm, further surprised that it moved. Spreading and curling small pale fingers he teared up. Sitting up slowly Rozu hug himself, tears flowing down round cheeks in pure joy.

"It finally worked, he whispered in awed disbelief, I'm so glad, he hiccupped, now you don't have to suffer anymore Zero."

Throwing off the sheet the boy was covered with, Rozu dried his tears getting out of bed, "right, no time to waste" he walk to Zero's bedroom door, opened it quietly, not wanting to wake the slumbering residences.

'Don't know how long this will last, I'll take advantage while I can.'

Rozu made his way to the entrance, silent as a ghost. Rozu unlocked the door then slipped outside, leaving it ajar.

Snow crunched under the child's bare feet as he walked away from Kaien Cross house dressed only in sleepwear. Rozu didn't mind the cold he's just glad to finally move and feel something directly while also excited by the starry night sky.

Rozu started a slow jog into the surrounding forest that turned into a full run accompanied by gleeful giggles. In his joy the boy didn't realized the inhuman speed at which he weaved between the trees. He stopped at the lake after a while staring at 'his' reflection examining Zero's face and soft silver hair.

'He would look even better with longer hair, wonder if he ever consider growing it out' he released the strand he'd been twirling on a finger.

Glancing around the quiet area Rozu flopped onto his back then stared at the stars in wonder. As the sky began to brightened Rozu feels Zero started to wake.

'Crap, Rozu stand quickly from his splayed position, guess times up, better get back before they realized Zero is missing and before the host fully awakened' Rozu ran not stopping until reaching the silverette's room (managing to be surprisingly quiet).

That was the first time Rozu had control of Zero's body after many attempts and it was a great first experience of many kind.

'Zero' hums to himself walking pass a bakery on the main street, he'd sneaked off school grounds while the moon dorm residences slumbers. Pausing in step suddenly he turns then walk into the near ally, quickening his pace the hunter follow his senses.

"Well what do we have here?" the silverette drawls at the creature moments away from feeding on an unconscious girl.

"Mind your own business, she's my prey" the level E growls in warning.

'Zero' not intimidated in the least continue moving closer, the shadows around darkens, "what number victim would she be?"

"What does it matter, it raise a brow sporting a derange grin, once I'm done with her, you're next."

The ex-human stops a few feet with a blank expression, "your answer would've determine how quickly you die" the shadows stretch out slowly.

"Fine, the fallen vampire drop the girl carelessly springing to attack the teen, I'll kill you first!"

Instead of hitting the ground the girl sinks into her shadow unnoticed by her attacker.

The level E freeze suddenly, a step away from 'Zero', clawed hands outstretch, inches from it's target face.

"You're right, it doesn't matter, the teen tightens the shadow chains binding the level E in place, despite being sane enough for conversation you're more stupid than the rest."

'Zero' close the distance, eyes glowing crimson while the shadows cover the area blocking the sun's ray, "and now like your previous helpless victims you shall feel what it's like to be preyed upon."

The silverette return to Cross Academy hours later, after leaving the girl with authority, with enough time to get ready for class.

Turns out classes were canceled for the night because a member of the vampire council is visiting. Since it had nothing to do with him 'Zero' leaves the ex-hunter's office without a word.

Kaien had called him when he was out earlier, asking (begged) him to come over.

'Zero' regrets complying a while later, making dinner, ignoring Yuki staring a hole in his back from the kitchen entry.

Kaien had asked him, with Yuki, to escort the senate member to his office after eating (since he hadn't found a prefect replacement yet).

He doesn't have a problem with the request but annoyed Yuki will accompany him.

To be continue…
