Well Damn, I had the idea of making a certain Character speak Hylian and at first the font transferred over.
Just at that point imagine the words in Hylian is all I can tell you when you read those parts of the character speaking aloud.
Aside from that the story is Now just about where it left off in the other version except things are going much differently. I hope those that read continue to enjoy the story as I try to submit weekly! :)
It was a short climb up the mountain before I came across a tower. Four bandits were occupying the tower; this told me that bandits had also taken the barrow. I summoned the bow to my hands and took one of the steel arrows I had gotten from the city. I knocked the bow and moved closer making sure I stayed out of sight from the troop of bandits. "Gotta make this count…" I whispered as I drew back the arrow and took aim at the bandit leaning against the tree by the tower. I waited for the second his friend went inside the tower and loosed the arrow. The steel whistled through the air almost soundless as it traveled to its mark. The arrow struck the bandit in the forehead and pinned the body to the tree. I decided to move quickly and went a little further up the mountain before the other two bandits came out of the tower and discovered their dead friend. Once they did they looked down the path where I use to be and started investigating. I focused and withdrew the bow back to the gauntlet before drawing The Master Sword to my hand. As the two were distracted down the path I snuck into the tower where the third was sitting at the top watching down the same path to cover the other two. She too had a bow and the arrow was knocked ready to provide cover fire from the tower if anything was spotted.
I snuck up behind the woman and quickly grabbed her mouth before I pulled her down onto the blade. The Master Sword quietly sunk into her back leaving her lifeless as I set her down to bleed out. I then hid in the tower as I heard the other two returning. I sat just above the stairs as they noticed the blood flowing down from the other floor. One of them came running up the stairs. I had taken my sword and readied as soon as his head was visible I drove the sword through his head and pulled it free causing the body to come stumbling down. I heard the scream of terror from the other bandit and noticed he went running down the mountain. I went back up to the perch where the woman was and pulled the bow back to my hands. I knocked and drew another arrow. Taking a deep breath and holding I took aim and loosed the arrow. Quickly the loosed arrow descended upon the fleeing bandit striking him in the throat, I quickly took another and loosed it again spearing the man's head as well in the split second that he had turned around the arrow lodged between his eyes. I lifted my hand and sent the bow back into the gauntlet before I carefully stepped my way out of the tower making sure to grab anything I could off the bodies, I left the armor on them to leave them their dignity and just took the weapons and gold putting each weapon into the void of the gauntlets.
I snuck up the trail of the mountain in case there were any patrols between the barrow and the tower. So far there was nothing when I came across the snow covered barrow. I groaned to myself as I had to will the bow to my hand again, I decided after this I'll let it hang on my back by the string so I could just easily pull it free when I need it. I pulled an arrow from the quiver and looked upon the barrow; I couldn't see all the guards but I saw a woman walk away from everyone else. "How any bandits cause problems in this country I have no idea…" I whispered to myself as I quickly knocked, drew, and loosed the arrow, pelting the woman in the head and sending her body tumbling down the mountain. No other noises echoed through the barrow, the other bandits had no idea their friend was picked off. I crept to the stairway and hid aside the stairs on a small outcropped ledge. I reached down and pulled off some of the ancient crumbling stone before tossing it up onto the flat. The roll of the stone got the others attention and they came running. I counted three more bandits when they all came running, I broke off another stone and tossed it down from the direction I just came, the rock Smashed against another and the bandits quickly went running towards it. I put the bow over my shoulder and pulled the glass dagger from my belt holding it in a reverse grip and drawing the Master Sword in my right hand before I tucked my lip and whistled.
As all three had ran towards my brisk paced walk I waited for the right moment raising my arm and calling the shield into my arm. Their blades slammed the dome it created as I whipped the shield to parry their advance knocking two of them back, I took that second and drove the sapphire glass dagger into the lower jaw of one of the bandits pulling the dagger free sending him tumbling before turning sideways and dodging a great sword swinging down at my head. The Master Sword flashed as I whipped the blade up across the man's chest and I followed through with the momentum spinning and slicing the other man in the back making him retreat and cry out in pain and stumbling in the blood soaked snow. His hide armor fell from his chest draped over his legs; his back was spilling blood as he tried to steady himself for one more charge. In a furious adrenaline filled rage the man charged at me screaming and determined. I swept his legs from under him making him crash into the bloody snow and slide partway down the path. Motionless he laid there as blood splashed from his back when he landed. The wound I carved into him had opened further and the man had bled out before he hit the snow.
I went to each body and stored their weapons in my storage void. "Well at least this junk will sell well, didn't do you idiots any good." I said aloud before taking their gold as well and pocketing the change and walking back to the stairs. I sheathed the glass knife and went into the old crypt. Immediately I was greeted by two bandits on the far end that were busy arguing with each other if they should go see about their friend if he went for the treasure without them. I crept behind the pillar closest to them and lightly tapped my sword against it. The two stood up alerted to the sound, "What was that?" The woman said, she seemed in distress and spooked. Something about this crypt she didn't like was haunting her. "Stay here, I'll check it out." The man had said creeping slowly along, I saw his reflection in the puddle on the ground and I crouched down putting my hand on the pommel of the Master Sword. As the man rounded the corner I shot up in a flash making the blade dig into his throat quickly pushing him to the ground.
I heard the woman scream and wood crash to the wooden floor as she franticly tried to reach for her bow that slipped from her grasp. "I will give you one chance…Leave and turn your life around, or join your friends in the grave." I said calmly walking up to her. She was paralyzed in fear looking to the bloodied Master Sword, the blade began to glow and hum, I wanted to see why but I had to keep my eyes locked on the woman. As I drew closer her eyes began to focus more and more on the sword. "Your decision to make, I don't want to have to end your life, you seem spooked as it is. Tell me what I need to know here and I'll let you leave here alive, even give you some gold to help pay your bounty if you have one." I explained to her. "I-I will leave…This temple holds a secret treasure, we stole the golden claw from the Riverwood trader and figured out what it was for, we were going to all go down together but one of our friends took off without us and locked the gate behind him. " She had said, I reached into my coin purse and handed her two hundred gold, enough to pay a standard bounty. "You will tell the guards that if this is not enough they can find me in Riverwood." I had said helping the woman up and she threw down her weapon and bolted out of the barrow.
I carefully crept down the stairs of the barrow and pushed on. I wanted to be careful for any other bandits that were patrolling the old halls. I heard a scream down the path and I ran to see what had caused it. All I saw when I came to the clearing around the next corner was a fresh corpse with darts sticking out from every angle of the body. "Booby traps? Lovely, as if the bandits weren't enough of a pain in my arse." I said picking up a rock and throwing it into the room close to the body. Nothing, it wasn't a pressure plate on the floor. I entered the large room and scanned around the surroundings, there were large stone faces holding two symbols: A Snake and what looked like a whale. But at the bottom of the symbols were three obelisks not just two. I decided to investigate further around the room. I kicked the body aside and looted the weapons and gold like I've done for every other body. My void storage was getting full and fast, I needed to sell this stuff soon. I went over towards the gate and noticed one of the face stones was broken and splayed on the floor. I shoved the rubble away to reveal another snake and looked back up to the pattern, two snakes and the whale.
I went over to the obelisks and turned each one to the right face and went over to the lever. Throwing the switch the gate on the far end of the room shot open in a hurry. I walked carefully through the gate; I didn't dare loot the urns or grave chests. Desecrating the dead was for bandits and petty thieves. I descended the stairs only to see a few skeevers look up at me and snarl. I focused power to my hand and shot forth bolts of lightning at the three of them their bodies twitched and fell lifeless as the bolts destroyed their insides. "That's what you get you disease ridden little…" I stopped myself and continued on, I needed to calm down and focus. As I reached the next stairway I sat down for a moment and panted. That spell took a lot more out of me and I knew not why it did. After catching my breath I realized I was sitting in silk webs. I shot up from the steps shuddering and trying to brush myself off as quickly as I could making all manner of unladylike sounds. "Hello? Is that you guys? Look I'm sorry I took off without you, but I'm stuck please help!" Someone yelled from down the way. I slowly made my way towards the voice avoiding as many webs as I could. "I swear whoever you are if a spider climbs on me I'm stabbing you and letting them use you as their nest." I grumbled before cutting a doorway open with the Master Sword to see one of the bandits strung up against the next door. High above a giant frostbite spider was resting, injured and bleeding down onto the grate below it.
I looked around for the switch; I didn't want to risk a run in with the spider. The switch was on the other side of the wall covered by thick webs. I took out the bow again and knocked an arrow, I would get only one shot with this. I drew back and took a deep breath before holding, as the target came into sight I loosed the arrow, a loud ping rang in the room just as the gate shuddered open below the spider. The spider dropped from the ceiling snarling and hissing making a clicking noise before tumbling down into the hole the gate left behind. I quickly ran over and slammed the button ignoring the webs around it and the gate sprang shut again trapping the large spider. "Thank the divines, cut me down and I can lead you to the treasure room, I know how to open the door." The man said, I was wary at first but I took the sword and sliced him free. "Fool, I'll never share the treasure with you—" Before he could finish his sentence I grabbed him by the collar and tossed him back into the room. The man was unarmed and stumbling before his back fell to the gate the spider was locked under, It reached its large paw like leg up and clasped onto the dark elf man who began screaming in fear motionless.
I walked over and yanked a golden claw off his belt. "Tell me how it works." I ordered crouching down near him. "Never!" He shouted angrily as he tried to flail but the spiders strong limb kept him held fast to the grate. "Well then I suppose I can figure it out on my own, shame to not let the spider eat tough so I guess I could open that again." I had threatened, the Dunmer began to shake in fear. "Wait wait, Please, I'll tell you how it works, the solution is there on the claw itself. You need only align the door wheels to the correct symbols and it'll open with the claw!" He hesitated, I did plan on letting him go but after the first betrayal I was doubtful. At that point I just got up and walked away. But before I left the room I slammed the grate button before making my way passed the door.
The only thing I heard was a scream, crunch, and then silence. I kept my sword drawn as I made my way down the corridor to the burial chambers. Bodies with taught skin lined the wall in a ceremonial burial fashion the old dragon cults would use for their dead soldiers. As I drew closer several started getting up. I leapt back stammering a little as the draugr came to life. The Master Sword again began to glow and hum this time much louder. I gripped the blade tight and waited for one to rush at me. A sword and shield in its hand it ran snarling in a hungry frenzy, I waited for the right moment before striking the walking corpse in the chest, the Master Sword thundered loudly in the chamber as it sent the corpse flying and lifeless again. The glowing stopped but the humming continued, it was as if the glow had transferred to the corpse. I shook this off and began to move towards the other two.
I just barely managed to raise my sword to catch the decrepit great sword swinging down towards my head. I was forced to my knee and trapped under the unnaturally strong walking corpse as it laughed, its friend stood there cackling with it. I couldn't move or his sword would slice me in two. Draugr worked as a group, if one saw the other was going to win a fight it would ignore the opponent and watch for something to happen. The weight was beginning to crush my kneecap. I tried to push up to slip his blade aside but the weight was unbearable. It was as if time slowed as I saw another decrepit sword swing passed above my head and toward the draugr aiming for my head. The old sword sliced through the walking corpse in a sickening crunch removing the head from the body and suddenly all the weight was gone. I shoved the body and looked up towards my savior only to see one of the other draugr grabbing its companion and smashing it repeatedly with the clawed pommel of its blade before it let go dropping the lifeless body and the sword.
Panting and growling as it stood over the corpse the draugr turned its gaze to me. I readied my sword and prepared for the worst before I noticed the blue eyes of the draugr were no longer blue but only a single eye was lit and as red as crimson only glittering green. It took a deep breath and calmed before it knelt down to one knee and its taught jaw began to move.'Valiant Kotera, I come to thy service in the name of Hylia. My sword is yours.' Were the words it spoke to me in reverence, the voice was instantly familiar as it lowered its head. "Hero of time, I welcome your company and accept your protection, rise Sir Knight and travel with me as a friend." I announced to the draugr that was now harboring the spirit of the ancient hero, his mouth only spoke Hylian however in my head I heard the common tongue. "Thank you my royal lady, I came to you to aid in your journey. When you struck me with The Master Sword my spirit was pulled from its prison into the blade but I had no way to tell you until a suitable vessel was located." He had said through thoughts.
"You mean the draugr? Does that mean you could jump to any draugr body?" I had asked curiously, the old hero shrugged unsure how to answer. "Well in any case, you'll need a sword befitting you instead of those decrepit old things." I had said holding out my hand and pulling an Iron sword I had looted from the bandits at the tower to existence once again. "Thank you my lady, I will cherish this gift in your service." The old hero bowed and telepathically spoke. "It's not a permanent sword; I plan to get you a sword befitting a Hylian as soon as I can mighty warrior." I had told him; after all I didn't want my new body guard to be stuck with ineffective equipment. He nodded and took point, continuing on and disabling traps. He had slaughtered the other draugr before I caught up with him each time he ran forward. He would run forward and clear the rooms than wave me to continue on. I sheathed the humming Master Sword and walked with a calm confidence. Once we finally came to the claw door I took the golden claw from my bag and examined the palm. "Alright, the top one should be the symbol of a bear." I had said, the old hero turned the large panel at the top until it matched a bear. "Now the second is a moth or a butterfly." I pointed out, the hero then spun the second layer to match. "Lastly an owl." I had said and again the tables spun to match. I pressed the claw against the door and the tables spun until they all matched an owl. The door slowly slid down out of the way and the old hero took point before stopping short of the stairs. "Kotera, that chest over there is Hylian make." He had pointed speaking through his mind; I quickly caught up and saw the old chest he pointed to. I climbed up and went over to the chest. "Locked…where is the key?" I had asked, the hero waved his nearly skinless hand. "Just break it with the pommel of your sword, Hylian locks like this aren't strong." He had willed to my head.
I did as he said taking the Master Sword and slamming the pommel against the old lock, the lock broke free and I opened the chest to see a dark green tunic, brown boots and leather gauntlets with Hylian symbols adorning the weaving of the gauntlets. The tunic had the Triforce sewn into the collar. Once I pulled up the tunic a funny little green hat fell from the folded shirt "Well, looks like some clothes for you." I had joked, if the hero could roll his eyes they'd probably fall out and roll across the floor. I sent the clothes to the void storage and rejoined the Hero at the steps. "Wait…what's that?" I had asked hearing chanting coming from ahead by the large curved wall. "What's what? I don't hear anything…" The hero said looking towards me as if confused. As I walked to the wall I saw writing in an unknown tongue glowing and glimmering on its own. I stepped closer and the word suddenly rushed into my brain the word Fus was now engraved in my memory for some reason as I felt energy pulled into my body and beginning to well up inside. I began to fall back after the energy released me only for the old hero to quickly leap to stop my fall. "Thank you, Hero of old." I had said steadying myself. "Please for the time being just call me Time, I'd say call me by my name Link but there's much more of us and I wish it not be confused." He had said in my head. I nodded and nearly jumped out of my skin with a scream as I saw the crypt shoot open in front of us.
Another draugr climbed from the large sarcophagus this one looking more powerful than the last. Time ran up to it and slammed his sword against it knocking it back a little before it shouted. "FUS, RO DAH!" It boomed knocking Time flat on his back and sending him sliding back down the stairs. I made quick work of the window and ran up behind the draugr taking the Master Sword and with one powerful swing I chopped its head clean from the body causing it to come crashing down on the old stones and over the edge. I took a deep breath and sat against the sarcophagus. "Wow…what was that?" I had asked, I heard an audible groan as Time finally managed to pick himself back up. "I have no idea, hurt like you wouldn't believe though. Damn it all." He groaned as he spoke telepathically. I released a sigh and reached into the sarcophagus pulling out what I came here for. The dragon stone was large and abnormally thick. "Hey…can you carry this for me? I can't carry anymore if I try to lug this thing around." I had asked, Time nodded and walked back over carefully taking the stone from me after sheathing his Iron sword. I went down to the corpse of the draugr and took its weapon from it. An enchanted ancient sword was as cold as ice to the touch. I quickly stashed it in the void and made for the back entrance of the crypt.
When we came out on the other side we were on a cliff side. I could see Riverwood from the clearing and I carefully slid down with Time following behind. "Wait…" I said stopping him before we made for the town. "What is it?" Time had asked me curiously through my head. "We need to cover that ugly mug or you'll be attacked on sight." I had said reaching into my bag and pulling the blanket from my bedroll and throwing the old thing over Time's head before wrapping it to cover his face and most of his body. The ancient armor covered his legs so I wasn't concerned about that. "Better?" He asked annoyed at me, I nodded and we walked into Riverwood where Alvor was sitting on his porch drinking from a tankard. "By the gods, Kotera you look rough." Alvor said, I nodded and sat down next to him, however Time took to standing beside me his hand still clutching the stone but I knew he wanted to have it on the sword. "Long story…Bandits, Spiders, and the literal walking dead. Woo…." I had said catching my breath. "Sounds like a good time to me, who's your friend here?" Alvor asked motioning at Time. "Guardian of Lady Kotera, to whom of which you should be kneeling to." Time had said out loud in Hylian. "What?" Alvor asked confused, I wasn't about to translate most of that for him since Time had basically ordered Alvor to kneel before me. "He said, he's my new companion I met at the barrow. Sorry he doesn't speak the common tongue." I had said before through my head telling him to just keep his mouth shut and let me do the talking. Time nodded and stayed put. "I see, well it's a pleasure to meet you friend, watch over Kotera for us while we can't. This girl is trouble." Alvor laughed, I nudged him and laughed along with him.
I finally stood up after catching my breath taking a deep breath in to smell the fresh air that for some reason smelt like a raging fire. "Well as much as I'd love to tell the story of this little adventure I had, I need to get this stone back to Whiterun, the court wizard sent for it so there it is, I want paid." I had said, Alvor nodded and patted me on the back. "Safe travels Kotera, may your journey be full of victory." Alvor said to me squeezing my shoulder. I nodded and the both of us headed off towards Whiterun in haste. "So want to tell me what that was all about?" Time had said in my thoughts. "Oh, Alvor is the uncle of a close friend of mine. They are letting me stay there for free while here in Skyrim so I'm grateful to them kind of like a home away from home." I had explained, Time nodded as he walked aside of me. "Where do you come from originally? I know not from Hyrule." Time had asked, instantly I was reminded of home, my parents, and my friends. "Originally, I was born in Cyrodiil on a farm just south of Skyrim's border." I heard Time chuckle to himself and I looked to him. "What is with our descendants always being born on farms?" He laughed to himself I shrugged and we continued on. "Well in Cyrodiil that's pretty much all there is land wise aside from the cities and my Father inherited the house so that's where I live initially." I had said, again I was reminded of my family. I felt homesick a little, a wave of sadness came over me and I leaned on Time. "What is it?" He had asked me concerned to the point he nearly dropped the stone to put his arm around me.
"Just…A little homesick I guess, thank you." I had said quietly, Time nodded in understanding and we just walked as we were for the rest of the time before we got to the city, it felt comfortable and the wave of sadness had left me as I calmed down a little. We broke apart and walked in quickly making our way up to Dragonsreach, Time was taking in the sight as we walked almost falling into the water when we reached the ponds. I had to hold back a giggle as he flailed his arm to get his balanced back. When we got up to the keep we quietly went in and hastily walked to the court wizards section. "Ah, so she returns." Farengar said, there was a hooded stranger in leather armor leaning over the table looking at a map. "Yeah here's the stone, it was a nightmare to get so I hope whatever you were trying to accomplish was worth it." I said sourly, The hooded woman looked to me. "You went into Bleakfalls barrow and got that? Impressive…Good work." She had said, her voice was familiar but I couldn't place it.
"So about my reward…" I had said looking to Farengar. "Ah yes, well that's where the Jarl is concerned, talk to him about a reward, my job is to decipher this and nothing more." He had said Irileth quickly ran into the room and again nearly made me jump out of my skin. "Farengar!, Farengar, come quickly, there's been a dragon sighting. You should come too." She had shouted before looking to me trying to push me along towards the stairs up into the keep. Time was quick to follow behind I could hear him growling at Irileth. "She better not bruise you…" He grumbled in my head. "Relax…I'm fine." I had said, Irileth looked to me confused before looking into Time's red eye sensing the rage behind them she backed off me and let me move on my own. As we got to the top the watch guard began explaining that a dragon swooped down and started setting fire to the tower he was positioned on. I stood back leaning against the table with Time sticking close to my side with his hand on the sword I gave him.
The Jarl had turned to me. "No time to stand on ceremony my friend, I must ask for your help once again, as a token of gratitude for completing the first mission please take this." The Jarl began to hold a large war axe out to me. "No thanks, I prefer coin or a warm place to stay." I had said waving away the axe. "Then let it be done, I will tell Proventus that the house for sale is now yours, return and we will sort out the rest of the details and furnishings before handing you the key." The Jarl had said, I nodded and quickly pushed from the table and started down the stairs. I quickly overtook Irileth as she was running towards the exit too. Time was having trouble keeping up as I leapt down the stairs of the city with my hand on my scabbard. "Kotera wait, I should be taking point!" He sent to my mind. There wasn't time, I needed to hurry to the tower before the dragon decided to take off and leave it for good.
Leaving the city I looked around to spot the tower set ablaze by fire. I hopped down and just kept running passing the woman in leather armor again, her eyes were fixed on something about me but for now I shrugged it off and kept moving for the tower. Just before I got to a few rocks I heard a shout in my mind. "Kotera Down!" Time shouted, I instinctively crouched into a slide to the face of some of the rocks and waited there before Time had caught up. "Finally, Fire's embrace girl you need to calm down…I don't see the dragon…Hopefully it's that black one, I have a few words for that cowardly worm…" Time had mentioned I looked to him shocked. "Black, real big and spiky, Eyes like fire?" I had asked, Time looked at me like he'd seen a ghost, funny enough that he was one. "Yeah, you've seen it? That's the dragon that destroyed Hyrule and set all this in motion!" Time snapped looking towards the tower again. "Yeah, coincidentally it saved me from getting my head lopped off then you and I would have met in a very different way I suppose." I had said, I heard him chuckle. "Funny, the worm is responsible for saving the girl that's going to take his head. Love the poetic justice in that." I nodded and smiled before we saw Irileth stumble upon the same rock face we were standing. "Well there doesn't seem to be any sign of any dragon around here, sure looks like he's been here though." Irileth surmised as she poked her head up and looked around at the tower. "Gee no shit, I wonder what gave you that wondrous idea." Time muttered under his breath, I smacked his arm trying to not laugh.
"Alright, before this all goes down everyone I need you to remain calm about my companion here…I'd go into detail but—" Before finishing my sentence I pulled the cover from Time showing the large draugr body. Some of the men backed off already drawing their swords before Irileth held up her hand. "Steady men, as long as he's on our side Kotera, that's fine by me. The more the merrier." She had said, I looked over to Time who only nodded. "Can someone give him a bow and a quiver of arrows?" I had asked, one of the guards pulled the bow off his back and a quiver from his shoulder before handing them over. Time took a few seconds to get the feel for the bow stretching the string a little and taking an arrow getting the feel for it before giving the thumbs up. "Alright, let's move!" I shouted as I leapt over the rock with Time and we bolted for the tower. I climbed the ramp of the tower looking for survivors before someone whispered. "Get back, it's still out there somewhere, Hroki got grabbed trying to make a run for it..." The watch guard said in a hushed tone as low to the ground as he could be. The roar alerted me to the dragon making its approach again. "Kynareth save us, here it comes again!" The guard shouted I ran from the tower pulling my bow from my back and quickly knocking and drawing an arrow, I aimed toward the dragon as it was flying down from the mountain. As soon as it was close enough I launched an arrow and stuck it right in the throat. Several other arrows peppered the large greenish pale dragon. "FALL YOU ACCURSED WORM!" Time shouted as arrow after arrow loosed from his bow hitting the corners of the dragon's wing.
It was no use, the arrows were only annoying the large beast, it probably thought they were flea bites. I looked to the tower seeing that a siege ballista was atop the tower. I hurried up the winding stairs of the tower seeing the ballista still in operation. I walked over and heaved one of the bolts onto the frame cranking back the line and hearing the loud click as it locked in place. "Draw it here!" I hollered as the troop of guards began to group in front of the tower. The dragon descended from the clouds and began flying towards the tower; I could see the fire in its maw as it prepared to unleash a devastating wall of flame. I turned the ballista once and loosed the bolt. Within seconds the bolt hit its mark and slammed into the shoulder of the dragon causing it to scream loudly before spiraling and tumbling towards the field.
I hurried down the tower and drew the Master Sword which was now violently shaking and humming. I ran out and towards where the dragon fell only to see Time catch up to me with his sword drawn. The dragon began to raise back up, its left wing bleeding profusely as the bolt stuck out of it like a splinter. We closed the distance just as the Dragon caught us in his vision and as he went to rear back and breathe fire, I ran under the large belly and sliced his scaly knee, the Master Sword sliced through with such ease as the blade was glowing blue. The dragon howled in pain as it collapsed again spitting fire where ever it could. I went around behind its head and raised my blade. Suddenly the pain struck my chest as his large head whipped and sent me flying across the field. I landed flat on my back and the wind was knocked out of me. Time ran to my side as the dragon writhed on the field screaming and shouting in a tongue I knew not. "Are you alright My Lady?" Time asked through thought, I nodded and finally gasped out a breath. I could feel the blood running from my chest as I had felt one of the horns of the beast stabbed into my shoulder. Time helped me up and I switched hands with the sword being unable to hold it in my right hand. I walked calmly back to the dragon with Time keeping my injured arm on his shoulder. As the dragon finally stopped whipping his head, I brought the blade down impaling it in the eye to his brain. The last words I heard were "Dovahkiin? NOOO!" It shouted before the blade finally killed it.
A mass of energy then encircled the Master Sword and flowed through it, the energy then went to my body and I wasn't able to control it as I shouted. "FUS!" My voice rang as a large wave of energy blew against the dragon as its very skin fizzled leaving only the bones behind. Time didn't hesitate to collect loose bones before attending to me again. Time pulled my metal broken chest piece from me and looked at the deep wound on my shoulder. I don't remember the rest as I passed out from blood loss.
When I came to again I was in an unfamiliar room, the wooden ceiling arched up and the room was very warm. I looked around as much as I could but I couldn't even sit up. Next to me was Time sitting in a chair reading a book or at least he was trying to. "Hey…" I managed to breathe out. Time quickly dropped the book and took hold of my arm. "Kotera, how are you feeling?" He asked in my mind, I could hear the concern in his voice, I nodded and rasped. "Yeah, I'm alright. How long was I out?" I had asked him, he looked to me after pondering for a moment. "You were unconscious for two weeks, after the fight I brought you back to town as quickly as I could with the dark woman. She had a healer take you into the temple here and dress your wound and use some kind of magic on you. We had to keep you here in bed and redress the bandages in case the wound opened back up. The dark woman then took me to the Jarl and she explained everything she saw, I nodded in agreement to the tale to confirm. The Jarl then quickly set up this house as promised with a master bedroom and a room for the caretaker who is now what you call a Housecarl. She's been tending to everything since I couldn't touch with dead skin." Time had begun to explain, I thought about the entire story and suddenly the worst thing came to mind causing me to blush as deep as a lobster. "I didn't uhh…you know." I made a few hand gestures, hesitant to say the actual words. Time just laughed and nodded. "Well of course but I wasn't the one to change the linens, your Housecarl took care of everything that dealt with you needing to be unclothed, I waited downstairs. A knight should not gaze upon his lady unclothed." The old hero mentioned.
My blush didn't go away but I shook off the thought and tried to sit up. "Whoa easy now, It'll hurt if you do it so fast." Time said as he helped me sit up in the bed and I could get a better view of the room, there was a table in the corner, a wardrobe to my right and a chest along the wall. The double doors of the room suddenly opened to reveal a tall woman who looked to be in her thirties. "Is she awake?" She asked, Time nodded as he supported my back. "My thane it is good to see you have come to. How do you feel My Lady?" She had asked, it still felt weird being called that. "I…I feel alright, Time was here to help me and I can't begin to thank you for caring for me while I was unconscious…uhh…" I began and stuttered because I didn't know her name. "My name is Lydia, I am your Housecarl and you are my Thane. The Jarl appointed me to you after you dispatched the dragon. He said when you were well enough to walk that you were to be brought before him. There is to be a celebration. However the priestess at the temple said you would be out of commission for more than a month." Lydia added the last bit at the end quickly; I shook my head in shock. "I can't do much for a whole month?" Yikes…Well I guess I could use the break. It's been almost nonstop since I got to Skyrim. Time if you don't mind that our quest is on hold for now?" I had asked, He shook his head and waved his arm. "I do not mind, as long as you are able to recover that is fine by me." He sent through my mind. "I didn't think you'd mind but it's our home so I wanted your approval." I had said, Lydia looked to us confused. "Oh..sorry, he doesn't Speak common tongue, only through the mental link the two of us share can he use the common tongue, the body he inhabits only speaks ancient Hylian. Time could you please?" I had explained and Time cleared his throat. "Hello Lydia, I am The Hero Of Time known as Link." Time had spoke and left Lydia befuddled by his language.
"He said 'Hello Lydia, I am The Hero Of Time known as Link.' Hylian is a natural language to the two of us so I can translate what he says." I explained, She nodded and bowed. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance Hero Of Time." She said respectfully. "Well we should go see what the Jarl has to say…" I began before my stomach growled violently. "Well let's get some food in you first. I'll put some stew on and it will be ready in a moment." Lydia laughed leaving the room. An hour later she brought up a large bowl of stew and put the tray over my lap. I quickly ate and laid back a bit against the headboard of my bed. "That was delicious Lydia…thank you very much." I had said, she nodded and took the tray after I was done and Time helped me out of bed. We walked to Dragonsreach and Time kept my left arm over his shoulder to keep me steady as we climbed the stairs. My legs still felt a little weak but I felt fine otherwise. Once we entered the keep I heard a lot of motion up top and when we got there the Jarl was standing from his throne and he began to clap. The hall with as many people as there were began to clap as well. "Hail Dragonborn, Savior of Whiterun!" They shouted, I was taken aback by the welcome and I must have looked like a frightened deer. "Dragonborn?" I had asked Time, he shrugged as we continued on. "Apparently it's some custom in this world that humans with the ability to use shouts are called Dragonborn." He had said in my mind I nodded and I was taken up to the Jarl. "Esteemed Thane, I thank you for saving my city. To honor you as our thane please join us for this banquet, I took the liberty of inviting your friend from Riverwood he should be here momentarily with his family. You and your companions can sit at the table with me." The Jarl announced as a large table was brought out and put in front of the large fire pit.
Bards were singing, People were cheering and singing along with them, Time was helping me eat since my arm was still wrapped up to keep the weight off it. "Shor's bones, what happened to you Kotera?" I heard Alvor's voice say next to me. "Well, this little shindig is just the after, We encountered a dragon out by the western watch tower, I'm sorry I missed dinner.." I had said to him, he began belly laughing. "Dinner? Gods, you almost get impaled by a dragon and you're worried about having missed dinner with us?" Alvor laughed, I giggled and we continued eating and talking. Time sat closer to me and put his arm around me and hugged me close to him. It was almost like having an older brother the way he preferred to protect me instead of have me do anything myself.
A song one of the women began to sing stuck out to me, the tale of the Dragonborn it was called. "Pretty song…" I had said leaning against time feeling a little tired from all the festivities already, I may have been asleep for two weeks but I felt exhausted. "They're singing about you." Time sent to my head. "No way…Really?" I had asked, Time nodded "Aye, they're singing about the return of the Dragonborn are they not? And you are the Dragonborn." I nodded taking in the information. "Lydia…I'd like to ask a task of you…" I had mentioned, Lydia walked up and leaned down to me. "What is it?" She had asked curiously looking between Time and me. "I'd like you to teach Time how to speak the common tongue with his voice. There's something I need to do when this is over and I don't know when we'll return so I expect you'll have lessons ready for him when we do return." I had whispered to her, She nodded and headed over to the court wizard and talked to him for a while, He nodded and swiftly glided over to his study with her.
"Now Kotera, Your armor had been damaged by the dragon when he head butted you so it's of no use to you anymore. I had Eorlund Grey-mane our town blacksmith craft you a set of armor to wear proudly as Thane in my city. We took the design from your previous armor and made it with this new steel armor. Eorlund would you kindly bring Kotera her new armor?" The Jarl announced, an old man at the far end of the tables nodded and walked off and out of the keep. He returned a minute later kneeling before the table carrying a set of steel armor. The Triforce on the left breast was much brighter and more detailed on the armor than my precious set. Time stepped forward and bowed accepting it for me before I reached out to touch it sending the armor to my void storage. "It's very beautiful thank you, when I return to my quest I will proudly wear this to battle." I had announced bringing forth a roar of clapping. And as I looked out at the crowd of faces I couldn't help but tear up, If only my parents were here to see it. "Lydia…can you please bring me some paper and a quill?" I had ordered and she made haste at my wish. "What's this for?" The Jarl asked me. "I'm going to write to my parents, they deserve to hear about this as much as everyone here does." I had said before I started writing.
'Dear Father and Mother,
My journey hasn't really progressed very far aside from leaning Ilgrad had planted a spell in a cave and made a dimension to a reborn Hyrule. When my quest is over Hyrule will blossom like the flowers in our garden. But two weeks ago I went to a crypt to retrieve a stone for the court wizard here in Whiterun; my reward was a house at my behest. That's when we heard of a dragon attacking the watch tower. Oh I should mention the dragon thing. Well when I crossed the border to Skyrim I had been traveling with the rebel soldiers and I was mistaken for one and caught by imperial soldiers. They took us to Helgen and started executing the rebels. Well when it came to be my turn at the block fate had a different plan and a dragon black as night arrived and burned the town to the ground, I escaped with my life with my friend Hadvar, you know him. He was a soldier that stayed with us for a while. Well when we left Helgen or rather escaped. I've been staying with his uncle Alvor for a place to stay for the time being until this mission for the wizard awarded me a home. Mom you would love it. But anyway, when the dragon attacked I was injured just before finishing the dragon. I took one of its massive horns into my right shoulder. I've been unconscious for two weeks otherwise I probably would have written you sooner. I'm here now at a banquet held in my honor by the Jarl for my great deed. Truth be told I wish you were both here with me. I feel homesick, I feel sad that you two aren't here to experience this moment with me as I have been named Dragonborn A hero of legend they say. I should also mention when I was exploring the crypt with the new Master Sword I struck a draugr down and my ancestor had been inside the blade itself and was transferred to the body. So don't be alarmed if you come visit Whiterun that you see a walking corpse keeping watch over me, That's the old Hero Of Time, He swore to protect me and He did, I also have a Housecarl named Lydia who I'll send this letter with to you both. I hope you two are doing well, I miss and love you both. Your Daughter, Kotera'
I folded the letter and handed it to Lydia. "Please see this gets to my parents, they're just after the border to Skyrim into Cyrodiil, on a farm outside of Bruma. You'll know it when you see it, If you can't find it just go into the city and ask for Father Ander at the chapel he'll take you to them." I had ordered, she nodded and sat down next to me. It was another few hours before the banquet ended and Time helped me back to the house. Lydia got her gear and set out with my letter telling me she would be back in a matter of two days at the latest. Time and I sat in the house dining area for a time in silence. "Well…time to go Home and fulfill what was asked of me." I had said, Time had stood up and looked me in the eyes. "I wish you luck, for I have no right to join you in Hyrule, The spirits punished me for a reason…" He had begun before I put my hand up and silenced him. "Time…you have more than earned your right to enter the New Hyrule. If I am to rule it then my first decree is you are pardoned of your crimes, you are my advisor after all." I had said, I could sense the joy and sadness in his look.
"Thank you, fair and kind Lady Kotera." He had breathed trying to hold back tears if he could even shed them. I reached out and grabbed his arm and instantly the both of us were taken to a dark void. "Spirits of Hyrule, can you hear me?" I had asked the void. A ball of light appeared before Faron had fizzled into view. "I hear you young warrior. And prey tell why you stand with the Hero of Time? Have ye journeyed to the old and placed it to rest?" Faron questioned. "No ancient one, she has not, an unseen circumstance has transferred my soul from my body waiting before the chamber of the Triforce to that of a common draugr body. However she is now one step closer. Kotera has slain the first dragon!" Time had called to Faron, the spirit looked to him with a cross expression. "We were not speaking to you, We speak to the savior not the failure." Faron said to Time coldly. "Divine Faron, You will treat my protector with the same level of respect you will treat me. I have deemed his actions enough to pardon him of his punishment by my command as future ruler of the New Hyrule." I snapped loudly stepping in front of time and baring my teeth.
Silence…It was so unsettling and yet I felt I had gotten through before we were suddenly in New Hyrule. The warm weather felt calming and the wind was blowing and dancing around the field. "Th..This is home? It's beautiful…Just as beautiful as Hyrule once was." Time had sent to my head as he walked up towards the temple. I hobbled my way next to him and nudged him. "Hey I still need a hand here dummy." I had said, Time shook his head and put my arm around him and helped me to the temple. "How do we enter?" He sent looking at the large door to the temple. I reached out and pushed the door and we were suddenly in the chapel. I summoned the Master Sword to my hand and used it as a cane to lean on while my legs were still feeling weak from sleeping for the two weeks. As I reached the pedestal I drew the sword from its sheath and raised it up Plunging the blade home.
Blue fire illuminated the temple as I could see the soul of the dragon clawing to escape the sword before me. The soul was being sucked into the pedestal of the temple. The scream and roars of the soul shook the very foundations as it attempted escape. A golden glow then burst from the pedestal as the world shuddered. I now began to hear a woman's voice "Kind Hero of Nirn, Slayer of the scourge Mirmulnir, Your Hyrule has grown and has come into my sight. You will now see a meditation lake and a very large field to the north east and northwest." The voice said before it vanished and all had gone silent again. I turned around finding Time nowhere to be seen. I walked out of the temple feeling strength restored to my body somehow to see Time mining away at the stone walls. "What are you doing?" I had asked loudly, Time looked up and wiped his head. "Mining Hylianium…I'm going to have you sell it to that forge master to make a sword for me." Time had said, I nodded and waited until he was done. With a handful of ore Time walked back over to me and I grabbed his arm again and tried to will us back home.
Suddenly we were back in Whiterun and I was on the floor. I tried to sit up and groaned in pain as the soreness of my arm reminded me I was still injured. Time walked down the stairs to me. "Looks like that still needs work My Lady." He sent to my mind before placing the ore he mined on the table and helping me up. We then gathered the Material and wandered up into the town. Eorlund was just passed the companion's great hall so close to the keep. They called this spot the Sky Forge. As Time helped me up the stairs Eorlund quickly ran to my attention. "Lady Kotera, to what do I owe the pleasure?" He said dutifully as the sun was beginning to finally set. "I have brought material I wish made into a sword for my companions. As well as I wish to sell all I gathered from the barrow a few weeks ago." I had said motioning Time and he handed the material to the old man. He looked at it with a twinkle in his eye and set it all aside. "I can give you five thousand for this material. Now about selling other equipment?" He had asked. I reached my hand up and summoned each weapon I had stolen from the bandits and giving them to Time one by one who handed them to Eorlund.
"Thank you, I can melt this all down and make better weapons out of them. Six thousand for the weapons as well." Eorlund said before handing me a sack of eleven thousand gold. Time took the gold and we made our way home again. Time helped me up the stairs and helped me into bed. I sat up for a while and summoned each piece of armor onto the bed while Time had put them up on the armor rack in the corner of the room. With the void storage finally empty aside from The Master Sword and Hylian Shield I lay in bed and just stared at the ceiling for a while. "You know Time…these two months might go by super slow. What should we do?" I had asked, Time looked up to the ceiling for a while. "Well I wouldn't mind touring cities in Skyrim. Shouldn't be too rough on you if we're just visiting cities, take the carriage system and go about it." Time had mentioned excitedly. "Yeah I guess we could do that, we've got the gold and really if need be you can fight for me." I said, excited in my own right to travel Skyrim without the pressure of my quest on my shoulders. "Well when we wake next, where to first?" I had asked him. Time walked over to the table and placed his finger on the map scanning around. "How about Windhelm then to RIften and just make it a clockwise round from there." He said barely able to contain his excitement.
I laughed and nodded in agreement to the Idea and I finally turned over and fell asleep. The next morning I awoke to Lydia cooking another stew. I sat up and made my way downstairs quietly to see Time was practically drooling over the food in the pot while Lydia stirred and added ingredients in. "Good morning…Smells great Lydia." I had groggily said wiping my eyes and yawning. "Good Morning My Thane, Your parents wrote a reply for you it's on the table." She had said, Time was quick to take the letter and hold it up to me at the stairs.
'Sweet Daughter,
You seem to be doing alright for yourself if you can write to us like this. I'm sorry we couldn't be there for that banquet, your mother and I would have loved to have been there. This Lydia woman you send the letter with is a very kind and respectable girl. Between you and me that's a keeper. It warms my heart you were spared from execution only to make several more friends along the way. Perhaps someday we'll travel up to see you for a few days on a vacation. Father Ander asks if you've sent word for the past couple weeks, the man was worried after we've told him you've left on a mission to Skyrim. Should have seen the poor man he turned white as a ghost with worry. I told him you were well capable to handle your own and that eventually you'd find some way to write to us, I'm glad it's from the safety of one of Skyrim's most beautiful cities from what I hear. As for your injury young lady your mother was furious and hysteric. She wanted to leave home right away to come get you and bring you home to heal. I am glad to hear you are now safe and sound. Rest and Recover well my sweet girl. Love, Your Father.'
I laughed as I read the letter my father sent to me. A little embarrassed that he wants me to 'keep' Lydia in his words and I'm glad I'm the only one reading the letter. I folded the letter, hugging it close before I put it in my void storage. We all sat down and ate breakfast in the quiet silence of a warm spring morning.
