Chapter 22Epilogue

Chrom – The New Holy King

Returning to Ylisse with great triumph. Exalt Chrom would finally solidify his position as Ylisse's newest Exalt. Leading Ylisse through two great wars, his unflinching perseverance through those hardships had made him a beacon of hope for his people. His rule would be considered a golden age for Ylisse, a much-needed respite for the war-torn continent.

Yet it was said that all was not well for the Exalt on a personal level, as the wars had robbed him of much. First of his beloved sister and later his best friend and advisor.

He would mourn these losses for many years.

Robin – The Sacred King's Military Advisor

While his body was never recovered, the grandmaster was buried with the highest honours Ylisse could bestow, the legendary exploits of Robin would fill many a saga and delight children hungry for a dashing tale of heroism for generations to come. While his years of service could be considered short, many of his writings and reforms would form the foundation for much of the future prosperity of Ylisse.

Yet as the centuries passed, fact soon became myth, and questions arose around the very existence of this tactician of old.

Who was this scion of Plegia that came to serve the Sacred King himself really? Few if any yet live who remember.

Lucina – The One Who Knows The Future

The princess from a future past would return to her homeland and for a time remain there. Having accomplished her goals, one would assume that she would finally be at peace. However, those who knew her, would see that her mind had been broken by the ordeal. She would often wander the castle halls seemingly aimlessly as a ghost, reliving memories of a past long gone. Efforts made to brighten her melancholic mood proved fruitless.

One day she approached her toddler self, holding her close and whispering:

''Yours will be a happy future.''

She then left the castle, taking with her only a few supplies, a horse and her Falchion. From there on she would disappear completely from recorded history. Did she journey to another land or back to her own time? Did she settle down somewhere secluded where she hopefully could find peace from the ghost of her past? No one knows for certain.

Children of the future – Separate ways and new adventures

Their reunion with Lucina would prove to be one of the last things that made the time displaced princess genuine smile.

Having achieved their goal, the surviving travellers from the future would in time go their separate ways.

Gerome and Minerva would once again set out for Wyvern Valley in Valm. He and his wyvern would become protectors of the valley, keeping a watchful eye on both its human and flying inhabitants.

Noire would stay with her mother after the war as her assistant. Was she simply trying to protect her infant self from Tharja's curses? Or did she find solace with the woman who brought her into the world? No one really knows, but it is known that she would remain in Ylisse, keeping a vigilant eye for the lost princess of Ylisse.

Nah would for a time travel around the world, helping those in need as well as spreading a bit unintended chaos along the way in her dragon-form. As soon as she heard of the princess' disappearance, she would travel east. The area was relatively unknown, but her dragon form allowed her to explore the area with minimal risk.

Owain, Inigo and Severa would settle down in Ylisse and would for years keep contact with each other as well as Lucina before she disappeared. Ever loyal and wanting to travel the world again, the trio would search for her soon after, setting out west for the continent of Valm.

It is not recorded if the future children succeeded in finding their lost leader.

However, they would each be cast out in different adventures in their search for their leader.

What kind of adventures? That is a tale for another time.

Another day, another job well done.

Lucina had just finished the last tasks she had set herself to do for today. It was hard work to set the little house in order, but the former princess found it comforting in doing such mundane task as cleaning, feeding the chickens, seeing to the plants and…

''Mama?''

Lucina looked down and her eyes meet the gaze of her beloved daughter that had just tugged at her skirt in order to get her attention. Her daughter was still young, having just barely learned to walk and speak a few words, but she was a smart little girl. Lucina could see it in her eyes, always attentive whenever one spoke and she clearly understood much of it, despite not being able to respond properly yet.

Her daughter had clearly inherited her father's smarts.

Daughter…She could hardly believe that she would one day be a mother, but then again, she had never imagined marrying either.

She had found her husband while she was aimlessly travelling the world, she had found him in the farthest and most unlikely of places. For his part, he didn't know how he had ended up there and was confused at his entire situation, not that Lucina minded much, she was just happy to have found him.

They would seek shelter in a small mountain settlement, and in time built a new life there entirely. With both of them joining the local militia, who also was the local hunters. But after the birth of their daughter, Lucina had to settle being a housewife, while her husband continued to go out in patrols. Not that she minded much.

''Mama!''

Her daughter repeated, clearly dissatisfied with her mother's lack of immediate response.

''I'm sorry dear, mama was just thinking a bit. Are you hungry?''

Her daughter shook her head.

''Papa…''

Lucina smiled at this, her daughter worshipped her father, not unlike she herself did when she was at her age.

Like mother, like daughter.

When her daughter gets a bit older, Lucina would need to find time to travel to Ylisse and present her father his granddaughter, and his son-in-law.

''I'm sorry dear, but papa is still at work, but he will be home soon.''

Her daughter seemed crestfallen at this, but Lucina knew what she needed to do to cheer her up.

''I know! How about I read a story for you in the meantime?''

Like a spell that immediately peeked the little toddler up, and she instantly turned around and went to find her favourite book. In the meantime, Lucina made herself comfortable at the table, her daughter soon returned with a history book. Unlike other children her daughter seemed to particularly enjoy actual history instead of fairy tales. Not that it was unexpected, considering who her father was.

Pulling her daughter up to her lap, Lucina prepared to read for her little girl.

''Alright Morgan…It was the first year of the rule of Exalt Chrom that-''

Author note.

The end .

Hope that you all enjoyed the story and thank you all for reading.

Who is Lucina husband? I think it's quite obvious, but feel free to think otherwise if you so wish.

I always found that pairing hilarious, considering Lucina's mission, if I was one of those children of the future, I would definitely go.

''YOU MARRIED WHO?!'' (provided that I knew who would betray Chrom).

Plus, Morgan with Aether is OP.

Anyway, any last reviews would be greatly appreciated
