For millenia and a half, Japan is in turmoil. External issues pushed the sages to construct Gensokyo more early than it was supposed to, the year 1600s at least. Over the years in Gensokyo, humankind developed martially to combat the youkai threat but in overtime, themselves. With its status-quo broken, so changed these youkai exterminators of law into peace brokers of Gensokyo.

A girl in love is difficult.

During an unusual wet season, Marisa learns something about herself, and the discovery bleeds over into her relationship with Reimu. Rating might change in the future (but it also might not).

Shinki's destruction of Makai left her people in ruins. The arrival of someone who was freed sparks conflict between not only Gensokyo and Makai but between the people of Makai itself as people fight for their wonderland.
