Out in an area known as the Wild Plains, there were digimon all around. It was like a safari with wide open space and grass for miles. There were also many pokemon around. One group were pokemon that looked like just like cheetahs and their cubs with bright yellow fur with white underbellies. Some of them even had white stripes with black edges running down the tops of their heads and covered most of their backs. These pokemon were just relaxing until a grown one became alerted about something.

"Cheebolt!" It called out to its friends and alerted them all about what was coming their way. They all looked up and saw a stampede of Bouffalant heading straight towards them. Seeing them come their way, all these pokemon tried to run out of their way. However , one of the smaller ones was slow on what was going on. It tried to make it out, but it only got caught up in the stampede and separated from the others. Getting caught in a stampede like that can be real dangerous.

I want to be the very best

To catch them is my real test

To train them is my cause

(Davis' voice): Walk on the Wild Side

Our heroes are continuing on with their journey. Thanks to some directions from Professor Sassafras, they are about to arrive in the Wild Plains.

"Look! There it is!" Cletus pointed out. All of them made it to the very edge of the forest and now found themselves in the Wild Plains.

"Wow! It looks like it goes in forever!" Terra said.

"If we can make it to the other side, we'll be able to get to Hephas City sooner." Cletus said.

"Works for me. Let's get going." Davis said as he started walking with the others following. They didn't get very far before Davis spotted something on the grass. He saw the same pokemon, but it looked badly injured. When Davis saw that, he hurried right over to it. "Hey! Wake up!" He said as he lifted it up, but seemed to be in great pain.

"The poor thing!" Terra said.

"What happened to it?" Imperialdramon questioned.

"I don't know, but it needs help. Too bad there's no Pokemon Center around." Cletus said. They were trying to figure out what to do until they saw a keep drive up to them with a man with some grey in his shoulder length hair drove up with him wearing boots with a blue shirt and vest and had green pants.

"Oh dear!" The man said as he hurried over and took the pokemon in his hands. "What did you do to this Cubolt?"

"We didn't do anything. We found it like this." Terra claimed.

"I have a first aid kit. Hold it." The man said as he passed it back to Davis and got the kit. Once he pulled it out, they got to work on treating the pokemon named Cubolt. "There. That should help it."

"That's good." Davis said. "Terra, can use your pokedex on this." Terra did just that as she aimed at Cubolt with two different ones popping up.

"Cubolt, the Charge Pokemon. An electric-type. Cubolt store electricity in their paws, which they can use for a boost of speed."

"Wait. Why are there two of them?" Terra questioned. "What's that stripe all about?"

"That's nothing more than a gender difference." The man claimed. "The ones with the stripe is a male while the one without one is a female."

"So that means this is a guy." Davis said as he stared down at it. "By the way, not to be rude, but who are you?"

"Sorry. When I saw that Cubolt, I had to act. My name is Howard. It's my job to watch over this place and the pokemon. In a vast place like this, anything could happen with no one knowing it."

"Hey. My name is Davis."

"I'm Imperialdramon."

"I'm Terra."

"And my name is Cletus. We were just moving through the Wild Plains in our way to Hephas City when Davis saw Cubolt injured."

"Then it's a good thing you did." Howard claimed

"Cu... Cu..."

"Hey. Look who is waking up." Davis said as he could see Cubolt was moving and stirring again. "Good to see you're doing okay." Just then, Cubolt attacked out of nowhere with Fury Swipes and scratched Davis' voice. "Aww! My face!" He screamed with Cubolt jumping out of his arms. "What was that for when we helped you?!"

"Cubolt! Cubolt!" Cubolt was moving around and calling out for something.

"Imperialdramon, what's it saying?" Cletus asked.

"I think it's calling out to its friends, wondering where they are." Imperialdramon claimed.

"Makes sense. Cubolt are usually found with their evolve forms: Cheebolt." Howard claimed.

"Cheebolt?" Davis questioned with him using his pokedex.

"Cheebolt, the Speed Pokemon. An electric-type, and the evolve form of Cubolt. Cheebolt are incredibly fast, but they can only do so in short amounts of time."

"Something must have happened that not only caused it pain, but also caused it to get separated from the rest." Howard figured.

"Cubolt!" Cubolt just took off.

"No! Come back! You shouldn't be moving so soon!" Howard called. Worried about Cubolt, they hurried after it. However, Cubolt is getting rather far.

"That little guy really is fast!" Davis said as Cubolt was getting farther from them.

"What did you expect since it's like a cheetah." Imperialdramon claimed. Cubolt kept running until a large hole in the ground appeared right in front of him. He had to grab the edge and hold on, but couldn't get a good grip. "I've got you!" Davis was able to grab it just before it fell in. "That was close." He claimed, but just got jinx as the edge broke right under him and they both fell in. Davis tried to protect Cubolt until they hit the ground. "In golf, I think that be considered a birdie."

"Davis!" Terra called. "Are you both okay?!"

"Yeah!" Davis called

"I'll run back to the jeep!" Howard called. "I have a robe back there!"

"I can fly back there and be back sooner." Imperialdramon said with him going off.

"I guess we wait." Davis said. "We'll, at least you'll calm down." That's what he thought, but then Cubolt scratched him again. "Ow! Stop that!" He held Cubolt out so it wouldn't scratch him again, but what it did was bite his hand instead. As Davis winced in pain, he pulled it off. "So far it's three to zero, but that's going to change if you don't settle down." Davis was getting frustrated, but try en the rope was dropped down to them.

"Davis, grab the rope!" Imperialdramon called. Davis grabbed a hold of it with Imperialdramon pulling them both out.

"There we go. Now settle down." Davis said as he put Cubolt down. Cubolt tried to run for it, but Davis anticipated it and grabbed him. "You need to settle down!"

"A little aggressive, but he's right." Terra said. "You need some time to recover before running off."

"I can be aggressive since it kept scratching and biting me." Davis complained.

"Let's stay focus on helping Cubolt get back to its friends." Cletus said. "Howard, is there a way to track the Cheebolt and Cubolt?"

"Right here. This must be why Cubolt took off." Howard said. He bent down and revealed the paw prints in the ground. "This belongs to them."

"Sweet. If we follow the footprints, we should catch them in no time." Terra said.

"Its not that simple. Remember that they're fast. They could have gained miles on us already." Howard said. "Finding Cubolt's pack could take some time."

"Well, I guess we got a long road ahead of us." Davis said as they're not going to leave a pokemon behind.

...

Later

Since they're dealing with pokemon that are fast, they need wheels if they're going to catch them. They all loaded in Howard's keep and covered more ground with Imperialdramon flying over.

"Now this is more like it." Terra said.

"Keep an eye open for them, Imperialdramon." Davis said.

"Way ahead of you." Imperialdramon said as he was their lookout. He was looking for Cubolt's friends, but he spotted something else ahead. "What's that?" They all could see a dust cloud, but it then burst and appeared to be Rhydon.

"Rhy!" It just charged at them without warning. Howard was forced to steer out of the way.

"What happened?" Terra questioned.

"That Rhydon tried to run us off the road." Cletus said.

"Rhydon?" Terra said with her wanting to know more about it.

"Rhydon, the Drill Pokemon. A rock and ground-type, and the evolve form of Rhyhorn. The drill it uses for a horn is strong enough to burrow through diamonds."

"Why did it attack us?" Terra questioned.

"I guess it didn't like us in its way." Cletus said. Their problems were only going to get worse as Rhydon charged right at them. Just then,Cubolt jumped in the way and tried using Spark, but Rhydon just knocked it away.

"Cubolt, it's no good! Rhydon's a ground-type! You don't stand a chance!" Cletus said, but Cubolt wasn't backing down. It jumped at Rhydon again, but Rhydon just knocked it away again. Cubolt is in trouble as Rhydon was about to attack him, but Davis saved Cubolt from getting crushed.

"Imperialdramon, Brick Break!" Davis called. Imperialdramon flew in and gave Rhydon a powerful strike. That was enough to scare Rhydon away. "That was close. You're one energized pokemon." He said with Cubolt impressed he would save someone that just causes trouble.

"Cubolt might be fine, but I think Rhydon's stunt caused some damage to the keep." Howard informed.

"Can you fix it?" Cletus asked.

"I think so, but it's going to take time. I think we might have to continue in the morning." Howard said. Seems like there really isn't much they can do now since they need Howard to drive, and they need the jeep to find Cubolt's friends.

...

Later

They decided to camp out for the night and continue their search tomorrow.

"Wow! I'm glad we're sleeping here. Look at all the beautiful stars!" Terra said as they could see so many.

"It really is incredible." Davis said. "Better get some sleep, Cubolt. We'll find your friends tomorrow."

"Cubolt." Cubolt surprised Davis as he climbed inside Davis' sleeping bag and slept in there. Cubolt was even purring. Davis knew what that meant. Perhaps now they're getting along.

...

The Next Day

All of them continued with their search for Cubolt's friends. They continued to drive through the Wild Plains and searched for anything that might help.

"Hey! Up ahead!" Imperialdramon called. They all looked ahead and saw the pack was jus up ahead. "We found them!" They were all excited to have finally found the pack. When they pulled up as close as they could, Davis placed Cubolt down.

"Cubolt!" Cubolt ran to its pack and they were all happy to see him once again. Davis and the others were glad to see it was back where it belonged.

"Cubolt, you be careful now and don't get lost again." Davis said before he turned away and they were about to leave. Cubolt was glad to be with its friends again, but he took a liking to Davis. As tough as it was, Vubokt decided he didn't want to stay. One of the Cheebolt's noticed that and gave Cubolt some encouragement. That was all he needed as he rushed back to Davis and climbed up his shoulder. "What is it now?" Cubolt made it clear as he nuzzled against Davis and was purring.

"Cubolt, you would rather stay with me?" Davis questioned. It seemed like it would be the case, and Davis loved the idea.

"After all that, it decided to stay with us?" Terra said with amusement.

"It would seem so." Cletus said.

"Great. I'm glad you want to stay." Davis said as he tapped a pokeball against Cubolt and Cubolt went in with it now belonging to Davis. "Welcome to the team, Cubolt!"

The Edge

"Here we are. This is the Wild Plains ends." Howard said as he gave them a ride to there. "You all take care, and take good care of Cubolt."

"We will. Thanks, Howard." Davis said as they were on their way with a new addition.

After helping out Cubolt, it's formed a connection with Davis. Now, Cubolt has become Davis' newest pokemon. With Cubolt joining, there's more fun adventures to come.
