Our heroes have decided to enter Bacu City's Battle Tournament. Upon entering, they reunited with Loki and Jason. As the first round begin, Davis found himself going up against his new rival, Erik, and ended up winning the battle. It's now Cletus' turn with him going against Loki.
I want to be the very best
Like no one ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause
(Pokemon!)
Every challenge along the way
With courage I will face
I will battle every day to claim my rightful place
(Yeah!)
Pokemon
Gotta catch'em all
Oh, so true
Our courage will pull us through

(Davis' voice): In the Dark of Battle
"It's now time for the next match. Our next match features Cletus vs. Loki." The mayor announced as both of them cape out on the field.
"I heard that Cletus is actually a gym leader from another region." Jean said. "Seems we have a special guest, and that means he's sure to give a trainer a challenge."
"That's right, Loki. I was once a gym leader, so do expect a challenge." Cletus said.
"Okay. Let's just battle." Loki said with no emotion. "Go, Cacturne."
"Cacturne!"
"Grimer, let's go!" Cletus called as he mad his choice.
"Grimer!"
"It's going to be Cacturne vs. Grimer in this battle." Jean said. "Cletus has the advantage, but we'll see if Loki has a way to get around that."
"Seriously? Those pokemon are so hideous." Chloe complained. "It's bad enough I have to sit here and be surrounded by losers, but do I really have to watch this."
"If you're not going to, zip it. Some of us do want to watch." Alya said, but she noticed her BF watching someone else. "Well, some of us want to watch battles."
"Go ahead, Loki. You can have the first attack."Cletus offered.
"Thanks. Cacturne, go and use Faint Attack." Loki said. Cacturne did just that as it charged at Grimer with it disappearing and then reappearing until it got close enough and smashed its foot against Grimer.
"Not bad, but you'll need more than that." Cletus said. "Grimer, give them a sample of your Poison Gas!" Grimer breathed out its poison, but Cacturne jumped away from the attack. "I'm afraid you aren't getting away that easily. Now use Mud Shot!" Grimer shot out mud and was able to blast Cacturne with it.
"Cacturne, Bullet Seed." Loki said. Cacturne fired away with some seeds and they all blasted against Grimer, but Grimer was enduring.
"Cacturne is fighting hard, but I'm afraid it's grass-type attacks won't do much agains a poison-type." Jean said.
"That does sound like a problem." The mayor said.
"I'm afraid you have to do better than that, Loki. You have to try and bring out the best of your Cacturne." Cletus said. "Cacturne is a good pokemon with the characteristics of a grass-type and a dark-type, but is that really the best it can do."
"I like to think Cacturne's best qualities is how spooky it can be." Loki said.
"Uh... Be that as it may, you would still need to try and bring out its dark-type traits." Cletus said. "For example, I have worked well on my Grimer's defense by using its fluid body. Your attacks are just simply sliding around and aren't as effective. I've also made good use of it's poison-type characteristics l, and that allowed Grimer to use a new move. Time to use Sludge Wave!"
"Grimer!" Grimer used a brand new attack as it unleashed a wave of poison and smashed against Cacturne.
"Awesome! I didn't know Grimer learned to use Sludge Wave!" Davis said.
"That looked like it did a lot of damage!" Terra said.
"How's this for using Cacturne's best? Cacturne, Cotton Spore." Loki said. Cacturne created cottony spores and they were all clinging to Grimer and was making it hard for Grimer to see.
"Oh no! Grimer is getting blinded by Cotton Spore and can't see!" Cletus said.
"Bullet Seed." Loki said. Cacturne started running and shot seeds at Grimer. Grimer might be in trouble with the seeds coming from all directions.
"I see... That is better, but I'm afraid it's not good enough." Cletus claimed. "Grimer, let's use Sludge Wave! Spread it all around you!"
"Grimer!" Grimer unleashed the purple wave again and covered the entire field. Cacturne got hit by the attack and was knocked around with him knocked out.
"Cacturne is unable to battle! Grimer wins, and the victory goes to Cletus!" The ref called.
"And Cletus is advancing to the next round." The mayor announced.
"Nicely done, Grimer." Cletus said with Grimer feeling rather good about itself. "I'm sorry you lost, Loki, but you did good."
"It's okay. I can still watch and wallow in my failure." Loki said and was moving off the battlefield.
"Uh... If that works for you." Cletus said as he just let that be.
"Loki always gives me the creeps." Terra said as she felt shivers running down her spine.
"He's not that bad of a guy. I've seen worst." Davis said. "Speaking of which, I would be more concerned about who you're going up against if I were you." When he mentioned that, Terra turned to Jason. She's aware of how brutal Jason can be. She's going to have one tough battle.
"You got something to say to me?" Jason questioned.
"Jason, I know how strong you are, but don't think I'm scared." Terra said. "I plan to win this."
"Whatever, Tammy." Jason said.
"Tammy?! The name is Terra!" She called as she was angry now.
"Whatever. I doubt I'll get what I'm looking for out of you." James said.
"What is that suppose to mean, you rude jerk?!" Terra called.
"What exactly are you looking for?" Davis said.
"The only reason I entered this tournament was so that I could find strong trainers that could give me a challenge." Jason claimed. "So far, I'm not impressed with anyone."
"But why do you want that? I'm not getting the feeling that winning is just too easy for you." Imperialdramon said.
"It's so I can push my pokemon and get stronger. The stronger the challengers I face, the stronger I can get and find out how much stronger I need to be." Jason said. "Right now, I just see a bunch of losers. I doubt my pokemon are going to get that much stronger." He claimed and just walked off.
"What is his deal? He's being a little rude to the other competitors. Does he even care about winning this tournament?" Terra said.
"I don't know. He's got some problems. I get he wants to get stronger, but why does he have to do it like this?" Davis said as they still don't understand Jason, but does he even want anyone to understand them?
"It's time we get on with the tournament." The mayor said as they continued with the battle. The other two matches were up. They were good battles, but a winner was made in each one. Once those two battles were done, it was time for Terra's match against Jason.
"We've now reached the final battle of the first round, where we have Terra going against Jason." Jean claimed.
"I heard that Terra won the fashion competition a couple days ago, but let's see if her battle skills can match her fashion skills." The mayor claimed.
"Here I come, Jason. Misdreavous, let's go!" Terra called.
"Misdreavous!"
"Scraggy, time for battle!" Jason called.
"Scraggy!"
"Jason's using a Scraggy?" Davis said.
"That could be a problem." Cletus said. Trying to get familiar with that pokemon, Terra used her pokedex.
"Scraggy, the Shedding Pokemon. A dark and fighting-type. Scraggy pull up the saggy skin to be used as protection."
"It might look scrawny, but Jason wouldn't have it if is didn't put up a fight." Terra said. "I better take care of this fast. Misdreavous, start with Psybeam!"
"Misdreavous!" Misdreavous attacked, but Scraggy didn't even try to dodge it. Scraggy acted like it wasn't even a bother.
"What's this? Psybeam didn't seem to work." The mayor said.
"You're more naive than I thought." Jason said. "Scraggy is part dark-type. Psychic attacks aren't going to work. You're just as pathetic as your friend."
"Oh... I might like this one's style." Chloe said as she was paying attention now.
"Psybeam might not work, but Charge Beam will!" Terra called. Misdreavous tried again as it built power and unleashed an electrical blast.
"Block it!" Jason called.
"Scraggy!" Scraggy lifted up the saggy skin and used it like a shield to block the attack. Terra might have been warned about that, but she still couldn't believe what she just saw.
"Now use Knock Off!" Jason called. Scraggy jumped up at Misdreavous and smacked its arm against Misdreavous and did some serious damage.
"Ouch. That looked like it hurt." The mayor said.
"Knock Off is a dark-type move. Against a ghost-type like , Misdreavous, it would do a lot of damage." Jean claimed.
"Try to hang in there, Misdreavous." Terra encouraged, but that one attack did a lot of damage to Misdreavous.
"Let's finish this. Ice Punch!" Jason said. Scraggy gathered cold energy into its fist and went right at Misdreavous to strike it.
"Misdreavous, try to stop Scraggy with Hex!" Terra called. Misdreavous tried to do just that. It focused its ghostly power and tried to hold down Scraggy, but Scraggy was resisting. Scraggy pushed through and managed to land its attack with some brutal force. The force of the attack sent Misdreavous flying and smashed into the wall with it knocked out.
"Misdreavous is unable to battle! Scraggy wins and Jason is the victor!" The referee claimed.
"Misdreavous!" Terra called as she hurried over and lifted Misdreavous in her arms. As for Jason, he just simply brought Scraggy back to its pokeball and acted like he didn't care.
"We'll, I think this is a good place to end the tournament for the day." The mayor said.
"I agree, but we'll be back tomorrow for round two." Jean said.
...
The Pokemon Center
"Here you all go." Cletus said as he served the pokemon some food. "This pokemon food holds some oran berries that should help replenish their energy."
"It's too bad I was knocked out in the first round, but I'm glad to hear Misdreavous is doing better." Terra said.
"Hey, guys." All of them looked and saw Adrien, Nino, Alya, and Marinette.
"We all came to check on you." Marinette said.
"You all doing okay?" Adrien asked.
"Better than okay since Cletus and I are in the second round, but Terra is doing fine." Davis said.
"It's true, but thanks for checking." Terra said. "I just wish it wasn't Jason I lost to. He can be a real jerk sometimes."
"Is he really that bad?" Nino asked.
"He does have an attitude, but he is a strong trainer." Cletus said.
"Well, just wait. When I get to battle Jason, I'm taking him down." Davis said as he was ready to get some serious payback at Jason.
with the Battle Tournament underway, Davis is getting pumped. He's especially excited for a chance to battle Jason. Don't miss how the tournament exceeds from here.
